14But you do see! You take note of trouble and grief in order to take the matter into your own hand. The helpless one commits himself to you; you have been the orphan’s helper.
12For he will deliver the needy when they cry out for help, and the poor when there is no deliverer.
13He will have compassion on the poor and the needy, and he will save the lives of the needy.
14He will redeem them from oppression and violence, since their lives are precious in his sight.
1A prayer by the afflicted man who is overwhelmed and talks about his troubles with the LORD. A Prayer for Help LORD, hear my prayer! May my cry for help come to you.
2All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came into being,” declares the LORD. “But this is the one to whom I will look favorably: to the one who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at my message.
18 Turn your ear and listen, O God. Open your eyes and look at our desolation and at the city that is called by your name. We’re not presenting our requests before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great compassion.
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me;he has anointed me to tellthe good news to the poor.He has sent me to announce release to the prisonersand recovery of sight to the blind,to set oppressed people free,
9 A brother of humble means should rejoice in his having been exalted,
10 and a rich person in his having been humbled, because he will fade away like a wild flower.
5 Listen, my dear brothers! God has chosen the poor in the world to become rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who keep on loving him, has he not?
