¹ Thou shalt not utter a false report; put not thy hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

¹⁶ (20:13) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

⁷ Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not; for I will not justify the wicked.

¹⁶ If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to bear perverted witness against him; ¹⁷ then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges that shall be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall inquire diligently; and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; ¹⁹ then shall ye do unto him, as he had purposed to do unto his brother; so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. ²⁰ And those that remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of thee. ²¹ And thine eye shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

³ And the king said: 'And where is thy master's son?' And Ziba said unto the king: 'Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem; for he said: To-day will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.'

²⁷ (19:28) And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God; do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

¹⁰ and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying: Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he die.' ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people. ¹³ And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him; and the base fellows bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying: 'Naboth did curse God and the king.' ³ That hath no slander upon his tongue, nor doeth evil to his fellow, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour;

¹² Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not.

⁵ Whoso slandereth his neighbour in secret, him will I destroy; whoso is haughty of eye and proud of heart, him will I not suffer.

³ What shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, thou deceitful tongue?

¹⁹ A false witness that breatheth out lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

¹⁸ He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; and he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

¹⁷ He that breatheth forth truth uttereth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.

⁴ A evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips; and a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that breatheth forth lies shall not escape.

⁸ And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold.

¹¹ Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. ¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him into the council, ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law:

⁸ and why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.

²⁵ Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor; for we are members one of another.

³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,

¹⁶ having a good conscience, that, wherein they may speak against you as evildoers, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.

¹⁰ And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accuseth them before our God day and night.
