Luke 24 Cross References - JPS_ASV_Byz

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, while they were perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel: 5 and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen; remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 saying that the Son of man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 Now they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things unto the apostles. 11 And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk, and they disbelieved them. 12 But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb, and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering at that which was come to pass. 13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was threescore furlongs from Jerusalem. 14 And they communed with each other of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, while they communed and questioned together, that Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17 And he said unto them, What communications are these that ye have one with another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And one of them, named Cleopas, answering said unto him, Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we hoped that it was he who should redeem Israel. Yea and besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things came to pass. 22 Moreover certain women of our company amazed us, having been early at the tomb, 23 and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 And certain of them that were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said; but him they saw not. 25 And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they were going; and he made as though he would go further. 29 And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to abide with them. 30 And it came to pass, when he had sat down with them to meat, he took the bread and blessed, and breaking it he gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures? 33 And they rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34 saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35 And they rehearsed the things that happened in the way, and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread. 36 And as they spake these things, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they beheld a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye behold me having. 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here anything to eat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and ate before them. 44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 and he said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 Ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be clothed with power from on high. 50 And he led them out until they were over against Bethany; and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: 53 and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

1 Why are the nations in an uproar? And why do the peoples mutter in vain? 2 The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed: 3 'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.' 4 He that sitteth in heaven laugheth, the Lord hath them in derision. 5 Then will He speak unto them in His wrath, and affright them in His sore displeasure: 6 'Truly it is I that have established My king upon Zion, My holy mountain.' 7 I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me: 'Thou art My son, this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for thine inheritance, and the ends of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.' 10 Now therefore, O ye kings, be wise; be admonished, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Do homage in purity, lest He be angry, and ye perish in the way, when suddenly His wrath is kindled. Happy are all they that take refuge in Him.

Psalms 22:1-31

1 (22:1) For the Leader; upon Aijeleth ha-Shahar. A Psalm of David. (22:2) My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me, and art far from my help at the words of my cry? 2 (22:3) O my God, I call by day, but Thou answerest not; and at night, and there is no surcease for me. 3 (22:4) Yet Thou art holy, O Thou that art enthroned upon the praises of Israel. 4 (22:5) In Thee did our fathers trust; they trusted, and Thou didst deliver them. 5 (22:6) Unto Thee they cried, and escaped; in Thee did they trust, and were not ashamed. 6 (22:7) But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 (22:8) All they that see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head: 8 (22:9) 'Let him commit himself unto the LORD! let Him rescue him; let Him deliver him, seeing He delighteth in him.' 9 (22:10) For Thou art He that took me out of the womb; Thou madest me trust when I was upon my mother's breasts. 10 (22:11) Upon Thee I have been cast from my birth; Thou art my God from my mother's womb. 11 (22:12) Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. 12 (22:13) Many bulls have encompassed me; strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 13 (22:14) They open wide their mouth against me, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 14 (22:15) I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is become like wax; it is melted in mine inmost parts. 15 (22:16) My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my throat; and Thou layest me in the dust of death. 16 (22:17) For dogs have encompassed me; a company of evil-doers have inclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet. 17 (22:18) I may count all my bones; they look and gloat over me. 18 (22:19) They part my garments among them, and for my vesture do they cast lots. 19 (22:20) But Thou, O LORD, be not far off; O Thou my strength, hasten to help me. 20 (22:21) Deliver my soul from the sword; mine only one from the power of the dog. 21 (22:22) Save me from the lion's mouth; yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen do Thou answer me. 22 (22:23) I will declare Thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee. 23 (22:24) 'Ye that fear the LORD, praise Him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and stand in awe of Him, all ye the seed of Israel. 24 (22:25) For He hath not despised nor abhorred the lowliness of the poor; neither hath He hid His face from him; but when he cried unto Him, He heard.' 25 (22:26) From Thee cometh my praise in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before them that fear Him. 26 (22:27) Let the humble eat and be satisfied; let them praise the LORD that seek after Him; may your heart be quickened for ever! 27 (22:28) All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee.

Psalms 69:1-36

1 (69:1) For the Leader; upon Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. (69:2) Save me, O God; for the waters are come in even unto the soul. 2 (69:3) I am sunk in deep mire, where there is no standing; I am come into deep waters, and the flood overwhelmeth me. 3 (69:4) I am weary of my crying; my throat is dried; mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4 (69:5) They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they that would cut me off, being mine enemies wrongfully, are many; should I restore that which I took not away? 5 (69:6) O God, Thou knowest my folly; and my trespasses are not hid from Thee. 6 (69:7) Let not them that wait for Thee be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those that seek Thee be brought to confusion through me, O God of Israel. 7 (69:8) Because for Thy sake I have borne reproach; confusion hath covered my face. 8 (69:9) I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children. 9 (69:10) Because zeal for Thy house hath eaten me up, and the reproaches of them that reproach Thee are fallen upon me. 10 (69:11) And I wept with my soul fasting, and that became unto me a reproach. 11 (69:12) I made sackcloth also my garment, and I became a byword unto them. 12 (69:13) They that sit in the gate talk of me; and I am the song of the drunkards. 13 (69:14) But as for me, let my prayer be unto Thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time; O God, in the abundance of Thy mercy, answer me with the truth of Thy salvation. 14 (69:15) Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink; let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. 15 (69:16) Let not the waterflood overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up; and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. 16 (69:17) Answer me, O LORD, for Thy mercy is good; according to the multitude of Thy compassions turn Thou unto me. 17 (69:18) And hide not Thy face from Thy servant; for I am in distress; answer me speedily. 18 (69:19) Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it; ransom me because of mine enemies. 19 (69:20) Thou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my confusion; mine adversaries are all before Thee. 20 (69:21) Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am sore sick; and I looked for some to show compassion, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 21 (69:22) Yea, they put poison into my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 22 (69:23) Let their table before them become a snare; and when they are in peace, let it become a trap. 23 (69:24) Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to totter. 24 (69:25) Pour out Thine indignation upon them, and let the fierceness of Thine anger overtake them. 25 (69:26) Let their encampment be desolate; let none dwell in their tents. 26 (69:27) For they persecute him whom Thou hast smitten; and they tell of the pain of those whom Thou hast wounded. 27 (69:28) Add iniquity unto their iniquity; and let them not come into Thy righteousness. 28 (69:29) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. 29 (69:30) But I am afflicted and in pain; let Thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. 30 (69:31) I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. 31 (69:32) And it shall please the LORD better than a bullock that hath horns and hoofs. 32 (69:33) The humble shall see it, and be glad; ye that seek after God, let your heart revive. 33 (69:34) For the LORD hearkeneth unto the needy, and despiseth not His prisoners. 34 (69:35) Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. 35 (69:36) For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah; and they shall abide there, and have it in possession. 36 (69:37) The seed also of His servants shall inherit it; and they that love His name shall dwell therein.

Psalms 72:1-20

1 A Psalm of Solomon. Give the king Thy judgments, O God, and Thy righteousness unto the king's son; 2 That he may judge Thy people with righteousness, and Thy poor with justice. 3 Let the mountains bear peace to the people, and the hills, through righteousness. 4 May he judge the poor of the people, and save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. 5 They shall fear Thee while the sun endureth, and so long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6 May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, as showers that water the earth. 7 In his days let the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace, till the moon be no more. 8 May he have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the River unto the ends of the earth. 9 Let them that dwell in the wilderness bow before him; and his enemies lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall render tribute; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. 11 Yea, all kings shall prostrate themselves before him; all nations shall serve him. 12 For he will deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. 13 He will have pity on the poor and needy, and the souls of the needy he will save. 14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence, and precious will their blood be in his sight; 15 That they may live, and that he may give them of the gold of Sheba, that they may pray for him continually, yea, bless him all the day. 16 May he be as a rich cornfield in the land upon the top of the mountains; may his fruit rustle like Lebanon; and may they blossom out of the city like grass of the earth. 17 May his name endure for ever; may his name be continued as long as the sun; may men also bless themselves by him; may all nations call him happy. 18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things; 19 And blessed be His glorious name for ever; and let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen. 20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Psalms 88:1-18

1 (88:1) A Song, a Psalm of the sons of Korah; for the Leader; upon Mahalath Leannoth. Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. (88:2) O LORD, God of my salvation, what time I cry in the night before Thee, 2 (88:3) Let my prayer come before Thee, incline Thine ear unto my cry. 3 (88:4) For my soul is sated with troubles, and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. 4 (88:5) I am counted with them that go down into the pit; I am become as a man that hath no help; 5 (88:6) Set apart among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom Thou rememberest no more; and they are cut off from Thy hand. 6 (88:7) Thou hast laid me in the nethermost pit, in dark places, in the deeps. 7 (88:8) Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and all Thy waves Thou pressest down. Selah 8 (88:9) Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me; Thou hast made me an abomination unto them; I am shut up, and I cannot come forth. 9 (88:10) Mine eye languisheth by reason of affliction; I have called upon Thee, O LORD, every day, I have spread forth my hands unto Thee. 10 (88:11) Wilt Thou work wonders for the dead? Or shall the shades arise and give Thee thanks? Selah 11 (88:12) Shall Thy mercy be declared in the grave? or Thy faithfulness in destruction? 12 (88:13) Shall Thy wonders be known in the dark? and Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13 (88:14) But as for me, unto Thee, O LORD, do I cry, and in the morning doth my prayer come to meet Thee. 14 (88:15) LORD, why castest Thou off my soul? Why hidest Thou Thy face from me? 15 (88:16) I am afflicted and at the point of death from my youth up; I have borne Thy terrors, I am distracted. 16 (88:17) Thy fierce wrath is gone over me; Thy terrors have cut me off. 17 (88:18) They came round about me like water all the day; they compassed me about together. 18 (88:19) Friend and companion hast Thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.

Psalms 98:1-3

1 A Psalm. O sing unto the LORD a new song; for He hath done marvellous things; His right hand, and His holy arm, hath wrought salvation for Him. 2 The LORD hath made known His salvation; His righteousness hath He revealed in the sight of the nations. 3 He hath remembered His mercy and His faithfulness toward the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Psalms 109:4-20

4 In return for my love they are my adversaries; but I am all prayer. 5 And they have laid upon me evil for good, and hatred for my love: 6 'Set Thou a wicked man over him; and let an adversary stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him go forth condemned; and let his prayer be turned into sin. 8 Let his days be few; let another take his charge. 9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his children be vagabonds, and beg; and let them seek their bread out of their desolate places. 11 Let the creditor distrain all that he hath; and let strangers make spoil of his labour. 12 Let there be none to extend kindness unto him; neither let there be any to be gracious unto his fatherless children. 13 Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be brought to remembrance unto the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth. 16 Because that he remembered not to do kindness, but persecuted the poor and needy man, and the broken in heart he was ready to slay. 17 Yea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him; and he delighted not in blessing, and it is far from him. 18 He clothed himself also with cursing as with his raiment, and it is come into his inward parts like water, and like oil into his bones. 19 Let it be unto him as the garment which he putteth on, and for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually.' 20 This would mine adversaries effect from the LORD, and they that speak evil against my soul.

Psalms 110:1-7

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD saith unto my lord: 'Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.' 2 The rod of Thy strength the LORD will send out of Zion: 'Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.' 3 Thy people offer themselves willingly in the day of thy warfare; in adornments of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, thine is the dew of thy youth. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent: 'Thou art a priest for ever after the manner of Melchizedek.' 5 The Lord at thy right hand doth crush kings in the day of His wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations; He filleth it with dead bodies, He crusheth the head over a wide land. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore will he lift up the head.

For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

1 Comfort ye, comfort ye My people, saith your God. 2 Bid Jerusalem take heart, and proclaim unto her, that her time of service is accomplished, that her guilt is paid off; that she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. 3 Hark! one calleth: 'Clear ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make plain in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain; 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.' 6 Hark! one saith: 'Proclaim!' And he saith: 'What shall I proclaim?' 'All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field; 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; because the breath of the LORD bloweth upon it - surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.' 9 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain; O thou that tellest good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah: 'Behold your God!' 10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a Mighty One, and His arm will rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him. 11 Even as a shepherd that feedeth his flock, that gathereth the lambs in his arm, and carrieth them in his bosom, and gently leadeth those that give suck.

Isaiah 49:1-8

1 Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken, ye peoples, from far: the LORD hath called me from the womb, from the bowels of my mother hath He made mention of my name; 2 And He hath made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of His hand hath He hid me; and He hath made me a polished shaft, in His quiver hath He concealed me; 3 And He said unto me: 'Thou art My servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.' 4 But I said: 'I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought and vanity; yet surely my right is with the LORD, and my recompense with my God.' 5 And now saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, and that Israel be gathered unto Him - for I am honourable in the eyes of the LORD, and my God is become my strength - 6 Yea, He saith: 'It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the offspring of Israel; I will also give thee for a light of the nations, that My salvation may be unto the end of the earth.'

Isaiah 49:6

6 Yea, He saith: 'It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the offspring of Israel; I will also give thee for a light of the nations, that My salvation may be unto the end of the earth.' 7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him who is despised of men, to him who is abhorred of nations, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the LORD that is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee. 8 Thus saith the LORD: In an acceptable time have I answered thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

Isaiah 50:2-6

2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; their fish become foul, because there is no water, and die for thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering. 4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of them that are taught, that I should know how to sustain with words him that is weary; He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth mine ear to hear as they that are taught.

Isaiah 50:4-6

4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of them that are taught, that I should know how to sustain with words him that is weary; He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth mine ear to hear as they that are taught. 5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my checks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Isaiah 53:1-12

1 'Who would have believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For he shot up right forth as a sapling, and as a root out of a dry ground; he had no form nor comeliness, that we should look upon him, nor beauty that we should delight in him. 3 He was despised, and forsaken of men, a man of pains, and acquainted with disease, and as one from whom men hide their face: he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely our diseases he did bear, and our pains he carried; whereas we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded because of our transgressions, he was crushed because of our iniquities: the chastisement of our welfare was upon him, and with his stripes we were healed. 6 All we like sheep did go astray, we turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath made to light on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, though he humbled himself and opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, he opened not his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and with his generation who did reason? for he was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due. 9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich his tomb; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.' 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to crush him by disease; to see if his soul would offer itself in restitution, that he might see his seed, prolong his days, and that the purpose of the LORD might prosper by his hand: 11 Of the travail of his soul he shall see to the full, even My servant, who by his knowledge did justify the Righteous One to the many, and their iniquities he did bear. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion among the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the mighty; because he bared his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Isaiah 66:18-21

18 For I know their works and their thoughts; the time cometh, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and shall see My glory. 19 And I will work a sign among them, and I will send such as escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the nations. 20 And they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations for an offering unto the LORD, upon horses, and in chariots, and in fitters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to My holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. 21 And of them also will I take for the priests and for the Levites, saith the LORD.

22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

54 And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them. 56 And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him. 57 But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. 59 And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him, for he is a Galilaean. 60 But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. 61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. 62 And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Luke 22:66-23:5

66 And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people, chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and they led him away into their council, saying,

55 And the women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments. And on the sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

Luke 24:1-11

1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, while they were perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel: 5 and as they were affrighted and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen; remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

Luke 24:6-7

Luke 24:10-11

10 Now they were Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things unto the apostles. 11 And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk, and they disbelieved them. 12 But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb, and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering at that which was come to pass.

16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

Luke 24:23-24

23 and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

Luke 24:30-31

35 And they rehearsed the things that happened in the way, and how he was known of them in the breaking of the bread. 36 And as they spake these things, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Luke 24:44-46

44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.

Luke 24:44

44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures,

John 2:19-22

19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he spake this, and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

2 the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that thou doest, except God be with him.

John 5:39

39 Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life, and these are they which bear witness of me,

John 5:45-47

45 Think not that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, on whom ye have set your hope. 46 For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me, for he wrote of me.

John 5:46

46 For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me, for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

John 6:11

11 Jesus therefore took the loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down, likewise also of the fishes as much as they would.

John 6:14

14 When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.

John 6:63

63 It is the spirit that giveth life, the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.

John 7:40-42

40 Many from the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is of a truth the prophet. 41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, What, doth the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Hath not the scripture said that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?

52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee hath arisen no prophet.

John 12:16

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

John 14:16-17

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, 17 even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him; ye know him, for he abideth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you desolate; I come unto you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more, but ye behold me; because I live, ye shall live also.

John 14:26

26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. 28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I said, I go unto the Father; for my Father is greater than I.

John 15:26

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me; 27 and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

John 16:4-5

4 But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I go unto him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6 But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you, but if I go, I will send him unto you.

John 16:7

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you, but if I go, I will send him unto you. 8 And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment; 9 of sin, because they believe not on me, 10 of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye behold me no more, 11 of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth; for he shall not speak from himself, but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak; and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come. 14 He shall glorify me; for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you. 15 All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine; therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare it unto you. 16 A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

John 16:16-16

16 A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. 17 Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me; and, Because I go to the Father?

John 16:20-22

20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice; ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world. 22 And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.

John 16:22

22 And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.

John 16:33

33 These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

John 17:11-13

11 { And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest me I have guarded, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I come to thee, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.

John 19:24-37

24 They said therefore one to another, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my garments among them, And upon my vesture did they cast lots. 25 These things therefore the soldiers did. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

John 19:25-37

25 These things therefore the soldiers did. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold, thy mother! And from that hour the disciple took her unto his own home. 28 After this Jesus, seeing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst. 29 There was set there a vessel full of vinegar; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar upon hyssop, and brought it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished; and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross upon the sabbath (for the day of that sabbath was a high day), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 The soldiers therefore came, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with him: 33 but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34 howbeit one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water. 35 And he that hath seen hath borne witness, and his witness is true; and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye also may believe. 36 For these things came to pass, that the scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

John 20:1-2

1 Now on the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb.

John 20:1-10

1 Now on the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb. 2 She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.

John 20:2-10

2 She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him. 3 Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb. 4 And they ran both together; and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb, 5 and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying, yet entered he not in. 6 Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb, and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying,

John 20:6-10

6 Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb, and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying, 7 and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

John 20:7-10

7 and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed. 9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 So the disciples went away again unto their own home. 11 But Mary was standing without at the tomb weeping; so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,

John 20:11-18

11 But Mary was standing without at the tomb weeping; so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb, 12 and she beholdeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

John 20:12-18

12 and she beholdeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

John 20:13-16

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. 14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

John 20:14

14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

John 20:14-16

14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

John 20:15-16

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni, which is to say, Teacher.

John 20:16-16

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni, which is to say, Teacher. 17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended unto my Father; but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.

John 20:17

17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended unto my Father; but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God. 18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things unto her.

John 20:18

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things unto her. 19 When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

John 20:23-23

23 whose soever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven unto them, whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. 24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.

John 20:25

25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. And none of the disciples durst inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus cometh, and taketh the bread, and giveth them, and the fish likewise.

Acts 1:3

3 to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God: 4 and, being assembled together, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, Which, said he, ye heard from me;

1 And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speaking in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these that speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia, 10 in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13 But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine. 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my words. 15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day, 16 but this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: 18 Yea and on My servants and on My handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will show wonders in the heaven above, And signs on the earth beneath, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day. 21 And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know,
