⁷ Moreover he must have a good report of them who are outside; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

²⁴ Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: you make the LORD's people to transgress.

¹¹ And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are outside, all these things are done in parables:

³ Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

²² And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for you to come into his house, and to hear words from you.

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward them that are outsiders, redeeming the time.

¹² That you may walk honestly toward them that are outside, and that you may have lack of nothing.

²² Abstain from all appearance of evil.

¹⁴ I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, rule the house, give no occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

²⁴ Some men's sins are evident beforehand, going before them to judgment; and some men they follow after. ²⁵ Likewise also the good works of some are evident beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

⁹ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and perdition.

²⁶ And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

⁸ Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is an opponent may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

¹⁴ If you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

¹² Demetrius has good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear witness; and you know that our witness is true.
