³⁰ Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

⁶ Can that which is tasteless be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

¹¹ Does not the ear test words? and the mouth taste its food?

⁸ Surely you have spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of your words, saying, ⁹ I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me. ¹⁰ Behold, he finds occasions against me, he counts me for his enemy, ¹¹ He puts my feet in the stocks, he marks all my paths. ¹² Behold, in this you are not just: I will answer you, for God is greater than man.

³ For the ear tests words, as the mouth tastes food.

³ Who is he that hides counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. ⁴ Hear, I ask you, and I will speak: I will question you, and you declare unto me. ⁵ I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye sees you. ⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

¹⁴ But solid food belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
