A Psalm of the sons of Korah.] Hear this, all you people; give ear, all you inhabitants of the world: ² Both low and high, rich and poor, together. ³ My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. ⁴ I will incline my ear to a proverb: I will disclose my riddles upon the harp. ⁵ Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels shall surround me? ⁶ They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever:) ⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption. ¹⁰ For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others. ¹¹ Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. ¹² Nevertheless man being in honor abides not: he is like the beasts that perish. ¹³ This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. ¹⁴ Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. ¹⁵ But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. ¹⁶ Be not afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; ¹⁷ For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. ¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise you, when you do well for yourself. ¹⁹ He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. ²⁰ Man that is in honor, and understands not, is like the beasts that perish.

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

¹¹ Come, you children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹ [A song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.] Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

¹ [A Psalm of Asaph.] The mighty God, even the LORD, has spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

¹ [A maschil of Asaph.] Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

²⁰ Wisdom cries aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open square: ²¹ She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying, ²² How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scoffers delight in their scoffing, and fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD has spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

⁶ And he said, It is too small a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel: I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation unto the ends of the earth.

² Hear, all you people; hearken, O earth, and all that is in it: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁵ He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

⁹ Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁹ Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

²⁹ Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

¹¹ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.

¹⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him who receives it.

²⁹ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.

⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: he brings low, and lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the rubbish, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he has set the world upon them.

¹⁹ How much less to him that regards not the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

⁹ Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: if laid on the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

² The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

⁴ Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the law of their God. ⁵ I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the law of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: ¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beauty of the appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

¹ My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. ² For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in fine apparel, and there come in also a poor man in shabby clothing; ³ And you have respect to him that wears the fine clothing, and say unto him, Sit here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand there, or sit here under my footstool: ⁴ Are you not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? ⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him? ⁶ But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judges? ⁷ Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by which you are called?

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the generals, and the mighty men, and every slave, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; ¹⁶ And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: ¹⁷ For the great day of his wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?

² My teaching shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

³ My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

³³ If not, hearken unto me: hold your peace, and I shall teach you wisdom.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.

¹ [To the Chief Musician upon shoshannim, for the Sons of Korah, a maschil, a song of loves.] My heart is overflowing with a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made concerning the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready scribe.

³⁴ My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

¹³⁰ The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple.

¹ Hear, you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. ² For I give you good doctrine, forsake not my law.

⁶ Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and from the opening of my lips shall come right things. ⁷ For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. ⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing crooked or perverse in them. ⁹ They are all plain to him that understands, and right to them that find knowledge. ¹⁰ Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

¹⁷ Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge.

²⁰ Have not I written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge, ²¹ That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth; that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you?

³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

¹⁵ And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

⁸ With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even clearly, and not in dark sayings; and the form of the LORD shall he behold: why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

⁷ And he took up his oracle, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse for me Jacob, and come, denounce Israel.

² I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

⁶ To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their riddles.

⁴⁹ Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Does he not speak parables?

²³ And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have come to their fullness, a king of bold countenance, and understanding riddles, shall stand up.

¹¹ He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. ¹² For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even what he has. ¹³ Therefore speak I to them in parables: because seeing they see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who said, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: ¹⁵ For this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

³⁵ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

³ Therefore whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which you have spoken in the ear in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

¹² Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

¹⁷ Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

²⁰ Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel has come out to seek a flea, as when one does hunt a partridge in the mountains.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.

¹ [A Psalm of David.] The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

⁴ For my iniquities are gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

¹ [To the Chief Musician for the sons of Korah. A song upon alamoth.] God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. ⁷ Shall they escape by iniquity? in your anger cast down the people, O God.

²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.

¹⁰ If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. ¹¹ Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with you shall perish.

² And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own deeds have surrounded them; they are before my face.

¹³ Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

²⁴ Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.

³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

¹⁶ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

²⁸ And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

¹¹ And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

⁷ Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

¹⁰ Trust not in oppression, and hope not vainly in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

¹⁵ The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the ruin of the poor is their poverty.

²⁸ He that trusts in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

²³ Thus says the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

⁴ With your wisdom and with your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasuries: ⁵ By your great wisdom and by your trade have you increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches:

⁸ And Ephraim said, Yet I have become rich, I have found myself wealth: in all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that is sin.

²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

¹⁷ Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not haughty, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all, this to be a testimony at the proper time.

¹⁸ Since you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain manner of life received by tradition from your fathers;

¹⁸ Because there is wrath, beware lest he take you away with one blow: then a great ransom cannot deliver you. ¹⁹ Will he esteem your riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

¹⁰ For you will not leave my soul in sheol; neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.

²⁹ All the prosperous of earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

⁴⁸ What man is he that lives, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

² Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivers from death.

⁴ Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivers from death.

⁸ There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither has he power in the day of death: and there is no release from that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.

⁵ Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live forever?

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and seeing Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

⁵¹ Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keeps my saying, he shall never see death. ⁵² Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keeps my saying, he shall never taste of death.

²⁷ Because you will not leave my soul in hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.

³¹ He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hades, neither his flesh did see corruption.

³³ God has fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he has raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, You are my Son, this day have I begotten you.

³⁵ Therefore he says also in another psalm, You shall not allow your Holy One to see corruption. ³⁶ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: ³⁷ But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

¹⁴ From men by your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

⁶ Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are in turmoil in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.

¹⁷ For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

²² So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before you.

⁶ A senseless man knows not; neither does a fool understand this. ⁷ When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

⁸ Understand, you senseless among the people: and you fools, when will you be wise?

¹ Whosoever loves instruction loves knowledge: but he that hates reproof is senseless.

² Surely I am more senseless than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

¹⁶ For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool forever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how does the wise man die? as the fool. ¹⁷ Therefore I hated life; because the work that is done under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and like grasping the wind. ¹⁸ Yea, I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun: because I must leave it unto the man that shall be after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity. ²⁰ Therefore I gave my heart up to despair of all the labor in which I toiled under the sun. ²¹ For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that has not labored in it shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

²⁶ For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping up, only that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping of the wind.

¹³ There is a great evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept by their owners to their hurt. ¹⁴ But those riches are lost by a bad venture: when he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand. ¹⁵ As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing from his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁶ And this also is a great evil, that just as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he who has labored for the wind?

¹ For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knows either love or hatred by all that is before them. ² All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that sacrifices not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath.

⁸ But they are altogether senseless and foolish: the wooden idol is a doctrine of vanities.

¹¹ As the partridge sits on eggs, and hatches them not; so he that gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

²⁰ But God said unto him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have prepared?

¹² Therefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: ¹³ (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. ¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and clothing let us be with these things content. ⁹ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

²⁷ And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

¹⁴ Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.

¹² And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and has gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

¹⁸ Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king’s valley: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom’s pillar.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is pure wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

⁶ He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, are deep.

¹⁰ Thus says the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into your mind, and you shall think an evil thought:

³⁹ And the Lord said unto him, Now do you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

²² Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

⁵ Behold, you have made my days as a handbreadth; and my age is as nothing before you: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

²⁰ Man that is in honor, and understands not, is like the beasts that perish.

⁷ But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

¹⁸ I said in my heart concerning the condition of the sons of men, that God might reveal them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. ¹⁹ For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; the same thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man has no advantage over a beast: for all is vanity. ²⁰ All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth?

¹² For man also knows not his time: as the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.

²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:

¹⁷ But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goes forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of food, and were well-off, and saw no evil.

⁴⁷ Woe unto you! for you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you consent to the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchers.

²⁷ Then he said, I pray you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house: ²⁸ For I have five brothers; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.

²¹ Does not their excellence which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.

¹³ If I wait, the grave is my house: I have made my bed in the darkness. ¹⁴ I have said to corruption, You are my father: to the worm, You are my mother, and my sister.

¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

²⁶ They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

¹⁹ Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so does the grave those who have sinned. ²⁰ The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.

²³ For I know that you will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned into sheol, and all the nations that forget God.

⁵ For his anger endures but for a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

¹¹ When you with rebukes do correct man for iniquity, you make his beauty melt away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.

¹¹ You have given us like sheep appointed for food; and have scattered us among the nations.

³ He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

⁷ Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

¹⁰ I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the rest of my years. ¹¹ I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

³ But you, O LORD, know me: you have seen me, and tested my heart toward you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

¹⁸ But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.

²² Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

³ Let us know, let us press on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

³ And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the LORD of hosts.

³⁰ That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

³⁶ As it is written, For your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

² Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

²⁶ And he that overcomes, and keeps my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: ²⁷ And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to pieces: even as I received of my Father.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. ⁵ But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

²⁴ And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

¹⁰ For you will not leave my soul in sheol; neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. ¹¹ You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

⁵ Into your hand I commit my spirit: you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

¹³ For you have delivered my soul from death: will not you deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

²⁴ You shall guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

¹³ For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the depths of sheol.

¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction: pity shall be hid from my eyes.

⁴⁶ And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the spirit.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation;

¹ And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's has he gotten all this wealth.

¹ After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him. ² And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and paid homage to Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor paid him homage. ³ Then the king's servants, who were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgress you the king's commandment? ⁴ Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's words would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew. ⁵ And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor paid him homage, then was Haman full of wrath. ⁶ And he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had made known to him the people of Mordecai: therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

¹ [A Psalm of David.] Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious of the workers of iniquity.

⁷ Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

⁵ Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels shall surround me?

¹² When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

²⁴ And the nations of them who are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.

²⁶ And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

²¹ And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

¹⁹ The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he opens his eyes, and he is not.

¹⁵ As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing from his labor, which he may carry away in his hand.

¹⁴ Therefore sheol has enlarged itself, and opened its mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that exults, shall descend into it.

³ And what will you do in the day of punishment, and in the desolation which shall come from afar? to whom will you flee for help? and where will you leave your riches?

²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

⁴³ It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

¹⁹ And it comes to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

⁶ And thus shall you say to him that lives in prosperity, Peace be both to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be unto all that you have.

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

²⁰ And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was fed by the king's country. ²¹ And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. ²² And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

³ And I saw one of his heads as if it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world marveled after the beast. ⁴ And they worshiped the dragon who gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

¹⁵ And you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.

⁶ So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his place.

³⁰ To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of life.

²¹ Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth?

¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹³ Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹³ Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

¹¹ And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king. ¹² Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am invited unto her also with the king. ¹³ Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate. ¹⁴ Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak you unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go you in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath abated.

¹² Nevertheless man being in honor abides not: he is like the beasts that perish.

¹⁸ Surely you did set them in slippery places: you cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

¹⁸ I said in my heart concerning the condition of the sons of men, that God might reveal them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. ¹⁹ For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; the same thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man has no advantage over a beast: for all is vanity.
