⁸ Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.

¹⁷ Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty: ¹⁸ For he bruises, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole.

² Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are troubled. ³ My soul is also greatly troubled: but you, O LORD, how long?

⁵ But I have trusted in your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

¹¹ You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: you have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto you, who delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that plunders him?

³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

⁸¹ [Kaph] My soul faints for your salvation: but I hope in your word. ⁸² My eyes fail for your word, saying, When will you comfort me?

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that goes forth weeping, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. ¹⁶ For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. ¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him: I hid myself, and was angry, and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up. ² After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

⁴ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? ³⁸ Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. ⁴⁰ And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this corrupt generation. ⁴¹ Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

²⁹ Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, ³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and your house. ³² And they spoke unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. ³³ And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately. ³⁴ And when he had brought them into his house, he sat food before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
