¹ And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: ² And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, You say it. ¹² And when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. ¹³ Then said Pilate unto him, Do you hear not how many things they witness against you? ¹⁴ And he answered him never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

¹ And immediately in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. ² And Pilate asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto them, You say it. ³ And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. ⁴ And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answer you nothing? behold how many things they witness against you. ⁵ But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

⁶⁶ And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. ²⁹ Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man? ³⁰ They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto you. ³¹ Then said Pilate unto them, Take you him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: ³² That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die. ³³ Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Are you the King of the Jews? ³⁴ Jesus answered him, Say you this thing of yourself, or did others tell it you of me? ³⁵ Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you unto me: what have you done? ³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from here. ³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice. ³⁸ Pilate says unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and says unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
