¹ Then spoke Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, ² Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: ³ All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not you after their works: for they say, and do not. ⁴ For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. ⁵ But all their works they do to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, ⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. ⁸ But be not you called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brothers. ⁹ And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be you called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. ¹¹ But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. ¹² And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. ¹³ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you neither go in yourselves, nor permit them who are entering to go in. ¹⁴ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore you shall receive the greater damnation. ¹⁵ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cover sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ¹⁶ Woe unto you, you blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! ¹⁷ You fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. ¹⁹ You fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by him that dwells in it. ²² And he that shall swear by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him that sits thereon. ²³ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these you should have done, and not leave the other undone. ²⁴ You blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. ²⁵ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. ²⁷ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like whitewashed sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are inside full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ²⁹ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous, ³⁰ And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. ³¹ Therefore you be witnesses unto yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill you up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you whip in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truthfully I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone those who are sent unto you, how often would I have gathered your children together, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. ³⁹ For I say unto you, You shall not see me henceforth, till you shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.

¹⁰ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: ¹¹ Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. ¹² Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? ¹³ But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father has not planted, shall be rooted up. ¹⁴ Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. ¹⁵ Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. ¹⁶ And Jesus said, Are you also yet without understanding? ¹⁷ Do not you yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the drain? ¹⁸ But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. ¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: ²⁰ These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man.

¹⁴ And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

³⁸ And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, ³⁹ And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

¹ In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they stepped one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware you of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

⁵⁷ yes, and why even of yourselves judge you not what is right?

⁴⁵ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, ⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

³⁸ And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

Thus have you made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. ⁷ You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ⁸ This people draws close unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. ⁹ But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

³⁰ And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

¹⁹ And are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, ²⁰ An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which have the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ You therefore which teach another, teach you not yourself? you that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? ²² You that say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? you that abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? ²³ You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the law do you dishonor God? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

¹ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

⁵ Having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it: from such turn away.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

²⁸ Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

²³ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these you should have done, and not leave the other undone.

⁴⁶ And he said, Woe unto you also, you lawyers! for you lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and you yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

¹⁰ Now therefore why tempt you God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

²⁸ For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

¹³ For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

²⁴ But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

¹ Take heed that you do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise you have no reward of your Father who is in heaven. ² Therefore when you are doing your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truthfully I say unto you, They have their reward. ³ But when you are doing alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does: ⁴ That your alms may be in secret: and your Father which sees in secret himself shall reward you openly. ⁵ And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truthfully I say unto you, They have their reward. ⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. ⁷ But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. ⁸ Be not you therefore like unto them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him. ⁹ After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
¹⁰ Your kingdom come, Your will be done
in earth, as it is in heaven.
¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread. ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. ¹⁶ Moreover when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Truthfully I say unto you, They have their reward.

²⁰ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

¹⁵ And he said unto them, You are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

⁴⁷ Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

⁴⁴ How can you believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that comes from God only?

¹⁸ He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. ⁴ Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

²¹ And he said unto her, What will you? She says unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on your right hand, and the other on the left, in your kingdom.

⁴³ Woe unto you, Pharisees! for you love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. ⁴⁴ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. ⁴⁵ Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying you reproach us also. ⁴⁶ And he said, Woe unto you also, you lawyers! for you lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and you yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. ⁴⁷ Woe unto you! for you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchers. ⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: truthfully I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. ⁵² Woe unto you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in you hindered. ⁵³ And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

⁷ And he put forth a parable to those which were invited, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them. ⁸ When you are invited of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honorable man than you be invited of him; ⁹ And he that bade you and him come and say to you, Give this man place; and you begin with shame to take the lowest room. ¹⁰ But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade you comes, he may say unto you, Friend, go up higher: then shall you have worship in the presence of them that sit at food with you. ¹¹ For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

¹ My brothers, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. ² For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in good apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile clothing; ³ And you have respect to him that wears the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit you here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand you there, or sit here under my footstool: ⁴ Are you not then partial in yourselves, and have become judges of evil thoughts?

⁹ I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, receives us not.

⁸ But be not you called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brothers.

⁵ And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will you that I should do unto you? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

³⁸ Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and says unto them, What do you seek? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where do you dwell?

³ For you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men? ⁴ For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal? ⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, just as the Lord gave to every man?

²⁴ Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith you stand.

⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹⁵ Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, ² To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ My brothers, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

¹ Men, brothers, and fathers, hear you my defense which I make now unto you.

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. ¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

¹⁵ For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have you not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

¹⁸ And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

¹ Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brothers; ² The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

⁹ Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them respect: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; ²⁷ And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

⁴³ But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: ⁴⁴ And whosoever of you will be the chief, shall be servant of all.

²⁶ But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve. ²⁷ For whether is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? is not he that sits at food? but I am among you as he that serves.

¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often.

¹³ For, brothers, you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

⁵¹ He has showed strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. ⁵² He has put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

¹¹ For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁶ But he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

⁵ Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

³¹ Whether of them two did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus says unto them, Truthfully I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came unto you on the way of righteousness, and you believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and you, when you had seen it, repented not afterward, that you might believe him.

Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.

²² These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

²⁴ Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

³⁴ They answered and said unto him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.

¹⁷ But that it spread no further among the people, let us strictly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. ¹⁸ And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ Saying, Did not we strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? and, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

⁴⁰ And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

¹ And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

⁸ Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

¹⁵ Of whom be you ware also; for he has greatly withstood our words.

²⁴ But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you whip in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truthfully I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

⁴⁰ Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

⁴⁸ But he that did not know, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

⁴⁷ Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

⁶ For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with different lusts,

¹⁰ For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: ¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

³ And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.

¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: ¹⁵ Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

²² But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

²⁹ And if your right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell.

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

¹⁰ And said, O full of all trickery and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

⁴³ Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brothers.

¹⁹ And there came to there certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

⁵ But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. ⁶ And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brothers unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come to here also;

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came to there also, and stirred up the people.

¹⁷ They zealously affect you, but not well; yes, they would exclude you, that you might affect them.

¹² As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

³ Among whom also we all had our conduct in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, just as others.

³³ Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform unto the Lord your oaths: ³⁴ But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: ³⁵ Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

⁵ But you say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift to God, whatever you might have gained from me; ⁶ And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.

¹⁴ Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

¹⁷ You fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?

¹⁹ You fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

²⁴ You blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.

²⁶ You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

¹⁰ For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother; and, Whoever curses father or mother, let him die the death: ¹¹ But you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift (to God), whatever you might have gained from me; he shall be free. ¹² And you permit him no more to do anything for his father or his mother; ¹³ Making the word of God of no effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. ⁴⁰ And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? ⁴¹ Jesus said unto them, If you were blind, you should have no sin: but now you say, We see; therefore your sin remains.

³ For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

¹² But above all things, my brothers, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yes be yes; and your no, no; lest you fall into condemnation.

²² In whom you also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

⁹ For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

³⁴ But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

⁴⁹ Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will you build me? says the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

² And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. ³ And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

¹⁹ Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. ²⁰ For I say unto you, That unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

¹³ But go you and learn what that means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

⁷ But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.

³⁷ Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

⁴² But woe unto you, Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought you to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

⁴ Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye?

² Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. ³ But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? ⁴ For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.

²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁶ Woe unto you, you blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

⁶ And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. ⁷ And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. ⁸ Therefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

⁷ And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. ⁸ But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. ⁹ Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? ¹⁰ And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

⁴⁰ Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

⁴ And when they come from the market, unless they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brazen vessels, and of tables. ⁵ Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not your disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands? ⁶ He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. ⁷ And in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ⁸ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do. ⁹ And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.

³⁹ And the Lord said unto him, Now do you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ You fools, did not he that made that which is outside make that which is within also?

³³ Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.

⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁸ Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

⁴⁴ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

³ Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite you, you whited wall: for do you sit to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: ²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

¹² For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

⁴⁷ Woe unto you! for you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchers.

²⁹ Men and brothers, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.

³⁵ And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you whip in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

²² And he says unto him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

⁵¹ You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain those who showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers:

¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

³⁴ And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. ³⁵ And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

⁷ Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his trickery, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

³ How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

²⁹ Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See that you refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will whip you in their synagogues;

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee you into another: for truthfully I say unto you, You shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

⁵² Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

¹⁹ Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

⁴⁹ Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: truthfully I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yes, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.

²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father has sent me, even so send I you.

⁸ But you shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

⁵⁸ And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. ⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

¹ And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, ² And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

²⁷ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

¹ Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

³² And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brothers with many words, and confirmed them.

¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on you: ²⁰ And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the clothing of them that slew him.

⁶ Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon.

³ Therefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. ⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. ⁵ And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. ⁶ And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all in all. ⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for the profit of all. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; ⁹ To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ But all these works that one and the very same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

²⁴ Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes less one. ²⁵ Three times was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, three times I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

⁸ Therefore he says, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) ¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

²⁸ Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

¹⁰ And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelled on the earth.

⁵¹ From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: truthfully I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks.

²⁴ And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things that that of Abel.

¹¹ For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. ¹² Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And why slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

³⁴ Truthfully I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

³⁰ Truthfully I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. ³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

³² Truthfully I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. ³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

³ And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

⁶ And the remnant took his servants, and treated them spitefully, and slew them.

³⁰ And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

³ And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. ⁴ And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. ⁵ And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. ⁶ Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will respect my son.

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kill the prophets, and stone them that are sent unto you; how often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen does gather her brood under her wings, and you would not! ³⁵ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and truthfully I say unto you, You shall not see me, until the time come when you shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.

¹⁷ And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were invited, Come; for all things are now ready. ¹⁸ And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray you have me excused. ¹⁹ And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray you have me excused. ²⁰ And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

²⁸ And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. ¹⁶ Then came the first, saying, Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds. ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Well, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, have you authority over ten cities. ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, Lord, your pound has gained five pounds. ¹⁹ And he said likewise to him, Be you also over five cities. ²⁰ And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: ²¹ For I feared you, because you are an austere man: you take up that which you did not lay down, and reap that which you did not sow. ²² And he says unto him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: ²³ Why then did you not give my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest? ²⁴ And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that has ten pounds. ²⁵ (And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten pounds.) ²⁶ For I say unto you, That unto every one which has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that he has shall be taken away from him. ²⁷ But those my enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring to here, and slay them before me. ²⁸ And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem. ²⁹ And it came to pass, when he was come close to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, ³⁰ Saying, Go you into the village over against you; in the which at your entering you shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him to here. ³¹ And if any man ask you, Why do you loose him? thus shall you say unto him, Because the Lord has need of him. ³² And they that were sent went their way, and found just as he had said unto them. ³³ And as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said unto them, Why loose you the colt? ³⁴ And they said, The Lord has need of him. ³⁵ And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. ³⁶ And as he went, they spread their clothes on the way. ³⁷ And when he was come close, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; ³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that comes in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke your disciples. ⁴⁰ And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. ⁴¹ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, ⁴² Saying, If you had known, even you, at least in this your day, the things which belong unto your peace! but now they are hid from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench about you, and compass you round, and keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ And shall lay you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you knew not the time of your visitation.

¹¹ And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. ¹² And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out. ¹³ Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will respect him when they see him. ¹⁴ But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

⁷ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

² And Jesus said unto them, See you not all these things? Truthfully I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

¹⁴ But when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it should not, (let him that read understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

³⁵ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and truthfully I say unto you, You shall not see me, until the time come when you shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.

⁶ As for these things which you behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

²⁰ And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation of it is close.

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

¹³ And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

²⁶ And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. ²⁷ And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, ²⁸ Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, ²⁹ Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word: ³⁰ For my eyes have seen your salvation,

²² All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him. ²³ And he turned him unto his disciples, and said secretly, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:

²² And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it.

²¹ Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: to where I go, you cannot come.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

⁹ Jesus says unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet Have You not known me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father?

¹⁹ yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also.

²⁵ For I would not, brothers, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ. ¹⁵ But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. ¹⁶ Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. ¹⁷ Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ¹⁸ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the LORD.
