¹ A certain woman from the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead. Now you know that your servant was a fearer of Yahweh, but the creditor came to take two of my children for himself as slaves. ² Elisha asked her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" Then she said, "Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of olive oil." ³ Then he said to her, "Go, ask for yourself some containers from the streets, from all your neighbors. _⌊You must collect as many empty containers as you can_⌋!* ⁴ You must also go and shut the door behind you and your children, and you must pour out oil into all of these containers and set the filled ones aside." ⁵ So she went from him, and she shut the door behind her and her children. They were bringing containers to her, and she kept pouring. ⁶ It happened that when the containers were full, she said to her son, "Bring near me another container," but he said to her, "There is not another container." Then the olive oil stopped flowing. ⁷ So she came and told the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the olive oil and repay your debt. You and your sons can live on what is left over." ⁸ It happened one day that Elisha passed through to Shunem where there was a wealthy woman, and she urged him to eat bread; so it happened each time he passed through, he would stop there to eat. ⁹ She said to her husband, "Please now, I know that he is a holy man of God who is passing _⌊our way_⌋* regularly; ¹⁰ let us make a small enclosed room upstairs and put a bed, table, chair, and lampstand there for him, so that when he comes to us, he can turn and stay there. ¹¹ One day it happened that he came there and went to the upper room and lay down there. ¹² He said to Gehazi his servant, "Call to this Shunammite," so he called to her, and she stood before him. ¹³ He said to him, "Please say to her, 'Look, you took all this trouble, showing care for us; what is there for me to do for you? To speak for you to the king or to the commander of the army?'" She said, "I am living among my people." ¹⁴ Then he said, "What may be done for her?" Gehazi said, "Well, she has no son, and her husband is old." ¹⁵ And he said, "Call for her," so he called for her and she stood in the doorway. ¹⁶ And he said, "At this time _⌊next spring_⌋,* you will be embracing a son." She said, "No, my lord, O man of God! You must not tell a lie to your servant!" ¹⁷ But the woman conceived, and she bore a son _⌊in the spring_⌋,* which Elisha had promised to her. ¹⁸ The child grew older, and it happened one day that he went out to his father and to the reapers. ¹⁹ Then he said to his father, "My head, my head!" So he said to the servant, "Carry him to his mother." ²⁰ So they carried him and brought him to his mother; he sat on her lap until noon and then died. ²¹ She went up, laid him on the bed of the man of God, closed the door, and went out behind it. ²² She called to her husband and said, "Please send one of the servants and one of the female donkeys for me, so that I can go quickly up to the man of God and return." ²³ And he said, "Why are you going to him today? It is neither the new moon nor the Sabbath!" And she said, "Peace." ²⁴ She saddled the female donkey, and she said to her servant, "Drive along and go; you must not hold me back from riding, unless I tell you." ²⁵ So she went and came to the man of God by Mount Carmel. It happened when the man of God saw her _⌊at a distance_⌋,* he said to Gehazi his servant, "There is this Shunammite. ²⁶ Now, please run to meet her and ask her, 'Is it peace for you? Is it peace for your husband? Is it peace for the boy?'" She said, "Peace." ²⁷ So she came to the man of God at the mountain, and she caught hold of his feet. Then Gehazi came near to push her away, but the man of God said, "Let her alone, for her soul is bitter, and Yahweh has hidden it from me and has not told me." ²⁸ Then she said, "Did I ask for a son from my lord? Did I not say that you must not mislead me?" ²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Gird up your loins and take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet anyone, you must not greet them; if anyone greets you, you must not answer them. You must put my staff on the face of the boy." ³⁰ Then the mother of the boy said, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋* and _⌊as your soul lives_⌋,* I will surely not leave you." So he got up and went after her. ³¹ Gehazi crossed over before them, and he put the staff on the face of the boy; but there was no sound, and there was no sign of life, so he returned to meet him. He told him, saying, "The boy did not wake up." ³² When Elisha came to the house, here was the boy dead, lying on his bed. ³³ He went and closed the door behind the two of them and prayed to Yahweh. ³⁴ Then he went up and lay upon the child and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his palms on his palms. As he bent down over him, the flesh of the boy became warm. ³⁵ He returned and went _⌊to and fro_⌋* in the house one time, then he went up and bent over him. Then the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes. ³⁶ Elisha called to Gehazi and said, "Call this Shunammite." So he called her and she came to him; then he said, "Pick up your son." ³⁷ She came and fell at his feet and bowed down to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out. ³⁸ So Elisha returned to Gilgal. Now the famine was in the land, and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him. He said to his servant, put on the large pot and cook a stew for the sons of the prophets. ³⁹ One went out to the field to gather herbs, and he found a _⌊wild vine_⌋* and gathered wild gourds from it and filled his cloak. Then he came and cut them into the pot of stew, but they did not know what they were. ⁴⁰ They served the men to eat, but when they ate from the stew, they cried out and said, "There is death in the pot, O man of God!" They were not able to eat it. ⁴¹ Then he said, "Bring some flour," and he threw it into the pot. He then said, "Serve the people and let them eat." There was nothing harmful in the pot. ⁴² A man came from Baal-Shalishah and brought food to the man of God: firstfruits and twenty loaves of barley bread, with ripe grain in his sack. He said, "Give it to the people and let them eat." ⁴³ Then his servant said, "How can I set this before a hundred men?" He said, "Give it to the people and let them eat, for thus Yahweh says, 'They shall eat and have some left over.'" ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of Yahweh.

¹² And he said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the boy; do not do anything to him. For now I know that you are _⌊one who fears_⌋* God, since you have not withheld your son, your only child, from me."

³⁹ " 'And if your* countryman* who is with you becomes poor, and he is sold to you, _⌊you shall not treat him as a slave_⌋.* ⁴⁰ He shall be with you like a hired worker, like a temporary resident; he shall work with you until the Year of Jubilee. ⁴¹ And he and his sons with him shall go out from you, and he shall return to his clan, and to the property of his ancestors* he shall return.

⁴⁸ after he is sold redemption shall be for him; one of his brothers may redeem him,

² Every man in distress and every man who had a creditor and every embittered man gathered to him, and he became _⌊their commander_⌋.* Now there were about four hundred men with him.

³ Ahab summoned Obadiah who was over the house. (Now Obadiah was fearing Yahweh greatly.

³⁵ A certain man from the sons of the prophets said to his fellow countryman, "By the word of Yahweh, please strike me." But the man refused to strike him.

³ Then the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came out to Elisha, and they said to him, "Do you know that Yahweh is going to take your master _⌊from you_⌋* today?" He said, "I also know; be quiet!"

⁵ Then the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho came near to Elisha, and they said to him, "Do you know that Yahweh is going to take your master _⌊from you_⌋* today?" He said, "I also know; be quiet!"

³⁸ So Elisha returned to Gilgal. Now the famine was in the land, and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him. He said to his servant, put on the large pot and cook a stew for the sons of the prophets.

² There were those who were saying, "Our sons and daughters, we are many. We must get grain so that we may eat and live." ³ There were also those saying, "We have pledged our fields and our vineyards and our houses so that we can get grain in the famine." ⁴ And there were those who were saying, "We have borrowed money on our fields and our vineyards for the tax of the king. ⁵ Now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers, our sons are like their sons. Look, we are subduing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and there are some from our daughters being molested. _⌊We are powerless_⌋,* and our fields and vineyards belong to others."

² I gave command over Jerusalem to my brother Hanani and Hananiah the commander of the citadel. For he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.

³¹ And the peoples of the land who bring merchandise and any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not accept it from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. We will forego the crops of the seventh year and cancel every debt.

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, so his loyal love prevails over those who fear him.

¹⁷ But the loyal love of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to their children's children,

¹ Praise Yah!* Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh; he takes great delight in his commands. ² His _⌊descendants_⌋* will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

¹³ He will bless those who fear Yahweh, the small with the great.

¹¹ Yahweh takes pleasure in those who fear him, the ones who hope* for his loyal love.

¹² Although the sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I also know that it will be good for those who fear God—because they fear _⌊his presence_⌋.*

¹³ Now that all has been heard, here is the final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁴ "At the end of seven years you must let go each one his fellow countryman, the Hebrew who has been sold to you and who has served you six years, and you must let him go free from you." But your ancestors* did not listen to me, and they did not incline their ears.*

¹⁶ Then those who revered* Yahweh spoke _⌊with one another_⌋.* And Yahweh listened attentively* and heard, and a scroll of remembrance was written _⌊before him_⌋* of those who revere* Yahweh and ponder his name.

² But for you who revere* my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like _⌊fattened calves_⌋.*

²⁵ And because* he did not have enough* to repay it,* the master ordered him to be sold, and his* wife and his* children and everything that he had, and to be repaid.

³⁰ But he did not want to, but rather he went and* threw him into prison until he would repay what was owed.

³⁵ So also my heavenly Father will do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from your hearts!"

²⁶ "Men and brothers, sons of the family of Abraham and those among you who fear God—to us the message of this salvation has been sent!

¹³ For judgment is merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

⁴ Who would never fear, Lord, and glorify your name? For only you are holy, because all the nations* will come and worship before you, because your righteous deeds have been revealed."

⁵ And a voice came out from the throne, saying,
"Praise our God all his slaves, and those who fear him, the small and the great!"

¹² She said, "_⌊As Yahweh your God lives_⌋,* surely I do not have a cake, _⌊but only a handful of flour_⌋* in the jar and a little olive oil in the jug. Here I am gathering a few pieces of wood, and I will go and prepare it for me and my son, that we might eat it and die."

⁹ After they crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I may do for you before I am taken away from you." Then Elisha said, "Please let there come to me a double portion of your spirit."

²⁶ It happened that the king of Israel was crossing over on the wall, and a woman called out to him, saying, "Help, my lord the king!" ²⁷ He said, "No, let Yahweh help you. _⌊How_⌋* can I save you? From the threshing floor or from the wine press?"

³⁴ And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" So they said, "Seven, and a few little fish."

⁵ _⌊Then Jesus, when he looked up_⌋* * and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread so that these people can eat?" ⁶ (Now he said this to test him, because he knew what he was going to do.) ⁷ Philip replied to him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for them, in order that each one could receive a little."

⁶ But Peter said, "Silver and gold _⌊I do not possess_⌋,* but what I have, this I give to you—in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!"*

¹⁰ as grieving, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and possessing everything.

⁵ Listen, my dear brothers! Did not God choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?

¹⁶ He said, "Thus says Yahweh, 'Make this wadi _⌊full of cisterns_⌋,'*

¹⁸ Then he said, "Take the arrows," so he took them. He said to the king of Israel, "Strike the ground," so he struck three times and stopped. ¹⁹ Yet the man of God became angry against him and said, "For striking five or six times, then you would have defeated Aram until finishing them, but now you will defeat Aram only three times."

¹⁰ I am Yahweh your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

⁷ Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." And they filled them to the brim.

²⁴ Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

¹⁹ Then he said to her, "Give me your son." He took him from her lap and carried him up to the upper room where he was staying, and he laid him on his bed. ²⁰ Then he called to Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh my God, are you also causing evil to come upon the widow with whom I am dwelling as an alien by causing her son to die?"

³² When Elisha came to the house, here was the boy dead, lying on his bed. ³³ He went and closed the door behind the two of them and prayed to Yahweh.

²⁰ Go, my people, enter into your chambers and shut your doors* behind you; hide for _⌊a very little_⌋* while, until the wrath has passed over.

⁶ But whenever you pray, enter into your inner room and shut your door and* pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

⁴⁰ And they began laughing* at him. But he sent them all out and* took along the father and mother of the child, and those who were with him, and went in to where the child was.

³⁷ But he answered and* said to them, "You give them something* to eat." And they said to him, "Should we go and* purchase bread for two hundred denarii and give it* to them to eat?" ³⁸ And he said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go look!" And when they* found out, they said, "Five, and two fish." ³⁹ And he ordered them all to recline in groups on the green grass. ⁴⁰ And they reclined in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. ⁴¹ And taking the five loaves and the two fish and* looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves and gave them* to his disciples so that they could set them* before them. And he distributed the two fish to them all. ⁴² And they all ate and were satisfied. ⁴³ And they picked up the broken pieces, twelve baskets full, and of the fish. ⁴⁴ And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

⁵ And he asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" So they said, "Seven." ⁶ And he commanded the crowd to recline for a meal on the ground, and taking the seven loaves, after he* had given thanks he broke them* and began giving* them* to his disciples so that they could set them* before them.* And they set them* before the crowd. ⁷ And they had a few small fish, and after* giving thanks for them, he said to set these before them also. ⁸ And they ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces that were left, seven baskets full. ⁹ Now there were about four thousand. And he sent them away.

⁷ Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." And they filled them to the brim. ⁸ And he said to them, "Now draw some* out and take it* to the head steward. So they took it.* ⁹ Now when the head steward tasted the water which had become wine and did not know where it was from—but the servants who had drawn the water knew—the head steward summoned the bridegroom

¹¹ Then Jesus took the bread, and after he* had given thanks, he distributed it* to those who were reclining—likewise also of the fish, as much as they wanted.

⁴⁰ But Peter sent them all outside, and, falling to his* knees, he prayed. And turning toward the body, he said, "Tabitha, get up!" And she opened her eyes, and when she* saw Peter, she sat up.

²⁰ Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us,

¹⁵ So she went and did according to the word of Elijah; then both she and he ate with her household for many days. ¹⁶ The jar of flour was not emptied and the jug of olive oil did not run out, according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke by the hand of Elijah.

¹¹ But Naaman became angry and he went and said, "Look, I said to myself, 'Surely he will come out, stand, call upon the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hands over the spot; then he would take away the skin disease.'

⁴⁵ And blessed is she who believed that there will be a fulfillment to what was spoken to her from the Lord!"

⁷ By faith Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, out of reverence constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family, by which he pronounced sentence on the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when he* was called, obeyed to go out to a place that he was going to receive for an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

¹² And the manna ceased the day after, when they started eating the produce of the land, and there was no longer manna for the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* They ate from the crop of the land of Canaan in that year.

¹⁴ For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: 'The jar of flour will not be emptied and the jug of olive oil will not run out until the day Yahweh gives rain on the surface of the earth.'"

⁴³ Then his servant said, "How can I set this before a hundred men?" He said, "Give it to the people and let them eat, for thus Yahweh says, 'They shall eat and have some left over.'" ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of Yahweh.

¹⁹ Yet the man of God became angry against him and said, "For striking five or six times, then you would have defeated Aram until finishing them, but now you will defeat Aram only three times."

¹² Then Solomon stood before the altar of Yahweh before all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands. ¹³ (For Solomon had made a platform of bronze five cubits long and five cubits wide and three cubits high, and placed it in the midst of the outer court.) And he stood upon it, then knelt down on his knees before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands to heaven.

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be done for you."

⁵⁸ And he did not perform many miracles in that place because of their unbelief.

²⁰ And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.

¹⁹ And the whole crowd was seeking to touch him, because power was going out from him and healing them all.

¹² And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, "Gather the remaining fragments so that nothing is lost."

²² Then the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

²¹ The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous is gracious and gives.

¹⁷ Pay back no one evil for evil. Take thought for what is good in the sight of all people.

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are pleasing, whatever things are commendable, if there is any excellence of character and if anything praiseworthy, think about these things.

⁹ For you remember, brothers, our labor and hardship: working by night and day in order not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. ¹⁰ You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and righteously and blamelessly we became to you who believe,

¹² so that you may live decently toward those outside, and may have need of nothing.

⁷ For you yourselves know how it is necessary to imitate us, that we did not behave irresponsibly among you, ⁸ nor did we eat bread from anyone without paying, but with toil and labor, we were working night and day in order not to be a burden to any of you, ⁹ not that we do not have the right, but so that we may give ourselves as an example to you, so that you may imitate us. ¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we used to command this to you: that if anyone does not want to work, neither should he eat. ¹¹ For we hear that some among you are living irresponsibly, working at nothing, but being busybodies. ¹² Now we command and we exhort such people in the Lord Jesus Christ that, working with quietness, they eat their own bread.

³ But _⌊he urged them strongly_⌋,* and they turned aside with him and came into his house. And he made a meal for them and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

¹⁸ Their border went to Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,

²⁰ And the old man said, "Peace to you. I will take care of your needs; however, you must not spend the night in the open square."

⁴ Then the Philistines assembled and came and encamped at Shunem, so Saul assembled all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa.

³² Now Barzillai was very old, _⌊eighty years old_⌋.* Now he had provided the king with food while he was staying at Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy man.

³ So they sought a beautiful young woman in all the territory of Israel, and they found Abishag the Shunnamite and brought her to the king.

¹¹ One day it happened that he came there and went to the upper room and lay down there. ¹² He said to Gehazi his servant, "Call to this Shunammite," so he called to her, and she stood before him.

¹⁸ The child grew older, and it happened one day that he went out to his father and to the reapers.

³ Then* his livestock came to be seven thousand sheep and goats and three thousand camels and five hundred pairs* of oxen and five hundred female donkeys, and he had very many slaves, and that man was greater than all the people of the east.

⁹ It is not _⌊the aged_⌋* who are wise, or* it is not the elders who understand justice.

²¹ She persuades him with the greatness of her teachings; with her smooth lips she compels him.

¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he must never drink wine or beer, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while he is* still in his mother's womb.

²³ And the master said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and hedges and press them* to come in, so that my house will be filled!

²⁹ And they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening, and by this time the day is far spent." And he went in to stay with them.

¹⁵ And after she was baptized, and her household, she urged us,* saying, "If you consider me to be a believer in the Lord, come to my house and* stay." And she prevailed upon us.

¹ Now* this is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the _⌊Israelites_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* his death.

¹ Suddenly a man of God from Judah came to Bethel, by the word of Yahweh, while Jeroboam was standing at the altar to offer incense.

¹⁸ She said to Elijah, "_⌊What do you have against me_⌋,* O man of God, that you have come to me to make known my guilt and to cause my son to die?"

²⁴ Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now this I know, that you are a man of God and the word of Yahweh in your mouth is truth."

⁷ So she came and told the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the olive oil and repay your debt. You and your sons can live on what is left over."

¹⁰ A woman* of excellence,* who will find? For her worth is far more than precious jewels. ¹¹ The heart of her husband* trusts in her, and gain he will not lack.

¹⁶ In the same way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and righteously and blamelessly we became to you who believe,

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patient endurance, gentleness.

⁸ but hospitable, loving what is good, prudent, just, devout, self-controlled,

¹ In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the conduct of their wives,

²¹ for no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

² to remember the words proclaimed beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles,

¹⁹ Then he said to her, "Give me your son." He took him from her lap and carried him up to the upper room where he was staying, and he laid him on his bed.

⁸ But* the nobleman plans noble things, and he stands upon noble things.

⁴¹ The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he will never lose his reward."

⁴⁰ And the king will answer and* say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did it* to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it* to me.'

⁴¹ For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name because you are Christ's, truly I say to you that he will never lose his reward.

³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza (Herod's household manager), and Susanna, and many others who were helping to support them from their possessions.

¹³ contributing to the needs of the saints, pursuing hospitality.

²⁴ And let us think about _⌊how to stir one another up to love_⌋* and good works,

² Do not neglect hospitality, because through this some have received angels as guests without knowing it.

⁹ Be hospitable to one another without complaining. ¹⁰ Just as each one has received a gift, use it for serving one another, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

⁴³ Then he said to his servant, "Please go and look in the direction of the sea." So he went up and looked; then he said, "There is nothing." Then he said, "Go back," seven times.

³ Then he became afraid,* got up, and _⌊fled for his life_⌋.* He came to Beersheba which belongs to Judah, and he left his servant there.

¹¹ Then Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of Yahweh here that we might inquire guidance from Yahweh?" One of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."*

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Gird up your loins and take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet anyone, you must not greet them; if anyone greets you, you must not answer them. You must put my staff on the face of the boy." ³⁰ Then the mother of the boy said, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋* and _⌊as your soul lives_⌋,* I will surely not leave you." So he got up and went after her. ³¹ Gehazi crossed over before them, and he put the staff on the face of the boy; but there was no sound, and there was no sign of life, so he returned to meet him. He told him, saying, "The boy did not wake up."

²⁰ But Gehazi the servant of Elisha, the man of God, thought, "Look, my master has refrained from taking what this Aramean Naaman brought from his hand. _⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋,* I will certainly run after him, and I will accept something from him." ²¹ So Gehazi pursued after Naaman. When Naaman saw someone running after him, he jumped off his chariot to meet him and asked him, "Is it peace?" ²² He said, "Peace. My master has sent me saying, 'Look, _⌊just now_⌋* two servants from the hill country of Ephraim came to me, from the sons of the prophets. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.'" ²³ Then Naaman said, "Be prepared to accept two talents." So he urged him and tied up two talents of silver in two bags, with two sets of clothing and gave it to two of his servants and they carried it before him. ²⁴ When he came to the citadel, he took them from their hand and put them in the house, then sent away the men so that they went. ²⁵ When he went and stood by his master, Elisha asked him, "From where have you come, Gehazi?" And he said, "Your servant has not gone _⌊anywhere_⌋."* ²⁶ Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you as the man turned from on his chariot to meet you? Is it time to take silver, clothes, olive orchards, vineyards, sheep, oxen, male slaves, and female slaves? ²⁷ The skin disease of Naaman shall cling to you and to your offspring forever." Then he went out from before him having a skin disease like the snow.

⁴ Now the king was speaking to Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all of the great things which Elisha has done." ⁵ It happened that as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, suddenly the woman whose son he had restored to life was crying out to the king about her household and about her field. Then Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life!"

⁵ And when they* came to Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they also had John as assistant.

²⁴ _⌊Nothing besides what_⌋* the servants have eaten and the share of the men who went out with me will I take. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share."

¹ And it happened in the days when _⌊the judges ruled_⌋,* there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem of Judah went _⌊to reside_⌋* in the countryside of Moab—he and his wife and his two sons. ² And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephraimites from Bethlehem in Judah. And they went to the countryside of Moab and remained there. ³ But Elimelech the husband of Naomi died and she was left behind with _⌊her two sons_⌋.* ⁴ And _⌊they took_⌋* for themselves Moabite wives. The name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other was Ruth. And they lived there about ten years.

¹³ To Amasa you shall say: 'Are you not my bones and my flesh? _⌊May God punish me_⌋* if you are not the commander of my army before me forever, in place of Joab.'"

³² Now Barzillai was very old, _⌊eighty years old_⌋.* Now he had provided the king with food while he was staying at Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy man. ³³ The king said to Barzillai, "You cross over with me, and I will provide for you to dwell with me in Jerusalem." ³⁴ Then Barzillai said to the king, "What are the days of the years of my life, that I should go with the king to Jerusalem? ³⁵ I am eighty years old today. Can I discern between good and bad? Or can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Or can I still hear the voice of singing men and women? Why should your servant be a burden any longer to my lord the king? ³⁶ Your servant shall go over the Jordan with the king a little way, but why should the king recompense me with this reward? ³⁷ Please let your servant return, and let me die in my city in the tomb of my father and my mother. Here is your servant Kimham; let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him that which is good in your eyes." ³⁸ The king said, "Let Kimham go over with me, and I will do for him the good in your eyes, and all that you desire of me I will do for you."

³² Yahweh will return his blood on his head, because he fell upon two men, more righteous and better than he, and he killed them with the sword, even though my father did not know it; namely Abner son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

¹⁵ But now, bring me a musician." It happened that at the moment the musician played, the hand of Yahweh came upon him. ¹⁶ He said, "Thus says Yahweh, 'Make this wadi _⌊full of cisterns_⌋,'* ¹⁷ for thus says Yahweh, 'You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this wadi will be full of water; and you and all of your livestock and your animals shall drink.' ¹⁸ And since this is too trivial in the eyes of Yahweh, he will also give Moab into your hand,

¹ Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Get up and go, you and your household, and dwell as an alien wherever you can, for Yahweh has called for a famine, and it will come to the land for seven years."

³ It happened at the end of seven years that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to appeal to the king for her household and for her _⌊properties_⌋.* ⁴ Now the king was speaking to Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all of the great things which Elisha has done." ⁵ It happened that as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, suddenly the woman whose son he had restored to life was crying out to the king about her household and about her field. Then Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life!" ⁶ So the king asked the woman, and she told him. So the king appointed for her a certain court official, saying, "Restore all that is hers and all the yield of the field from the day she left the land up to now."

⁵ He came, and look, the commanders of the army were sitting there. He said, "I have a word for you, O commander!" Jehu said, "For whom? For all of us?" And he said, "For you, O commander!"

³ Trust Yahweh and do good. Abide in the land and feed on faithfulness.*

⁴⁰ "The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me.

³ And he said to them, "Take along nothing for the journey—neither a staff, nor a traveler's bag, nor bread, nor money, nor to have two tunics apiece. ⁴ And into whatever house you enter, stay there and depart from there. ⁵ And as for all those who do not welcome you—when you* depart from that town, shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony against them."

² in order that you may welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever task she may have need from you, for she herself also has been a helper of many, even me myself.

⁶ Greet Mary, who _⌊has worked hard_⌋* for you.

¹⁸ But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; _⌊I am well supplied_⌋* because* I received from Epaphroditus _⌊what you had sent_⌋*, a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will fulfill your every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

¹² Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and rule over you in the Lord and admonish you, ¹³ and to esteem them beyond all measure in love, because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is a great means of gain. ⁷ For we have brought nothing into the world, so that neither can we bring anything out. ⁸ But if we* have food and clothing, with these things we will be content.

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he refreshed me many times, and was not ashamed of my imprisonment, ¹⁷ but when he* was in Rome, he diligently sought me and found me. ¹⁸ May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day! And how much he served me in Ephesus you know very well.

¹⁰ For God is not unjust, so as to forget your work and the love which you demonstrated for his name by* having served the saints, and continuing to serve them.

⁵ Your lifestyle must be free from the love of money, being content with what you have. For he himself has said, "I will never desert you, and I will never abandon you."*

² Then* Abram said, "O Yahweh, my Lord, what will you give me? _⌊I continue to be_⌋* childless, and _⌊my heir_⌋* is Eliezer of Damascus." ³ And Abram said, "Look, you have not given me a descendant, and here, _⌊a member of my household_⌋* is _⌊my heir_⌋."*

¹⁷ And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed. And he said in his heart, "_⌊Can a child be born to a man a hundred years old_⌋,* or _⌊can Sarah bear a child at ninety_⌋?"*

¹⁰ And he* said, "I will certainly return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋,* and look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the doorway of the tent, and which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old, _⌊advanced in age_⌋;* _⌊the way of women_⌋* had ceased to be for Sarah. ¹² So* Sarah laughed to herself saying, "After I am worn out and my husband is old, shall this pleasure be to me?" ¹³ Then Yahweh said to Abraham, "What is this that Sarah laughed, saying, 'Is it indeed true that I will bear a child, now that I have grown old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for Yahweh? At the appointed time I will return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋* and Sarah shall have a son."

²¹ And Isaac prayed to Yahweh on behalf of his wife, for she was barren. And Yahweh responded to his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹ When Rachel saw that she could not bear children to Jacob, Rachel envied her sister. And she said to Jacob, "Give me children—if not, I will die!"

² There was a certain man from Zorah, from the tribe of the Danites, and his name was Manoah; his wife was infertile and did not bear children.

² He had two wives; the name of the first was Hannah, and the name of the second was Peninnah. Now Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

⁸ So Elkanah her husband would say to her: "Hannah, why do you weep and why do you not eat? And _⌊why are you heartsick_⌋?* Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

⁷ And _⌊they did not have_⌋* a child, because Elizabeth was barren. And they were both advanced _⌊in years_⌋.*

¹⁶ And I will bless her; moreover, I give to you from her a son. And I will bless her, and _⌊she shall give rise to nations_⌋.* Kings of peoples shall come* from her." ¹⁷ And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed. And he said in his heart, "_⌊Can a child be born to a man a hundred years old_⌋,* or _⌊can Sarah bear a child at ninety_⌋?"*

²¹ But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this appointed time next year."

¹⁰ And he* said, "I will certainly return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋,* and look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the doorway of the tent, and which was behind him.

¹² So* Sarah laughed to herself saying, "After I am worn out and my husband is old, shall this pleasure be to me?" ¹³ Then Yahweh said to Abraham, "What is this that Sarah laughed, saying, 'Is it indeed true that I will bear a child, now that I have grown old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for Yahweh? At the appointed time I will return to you _⌊in the spring_⌋* and Sarah shall have a son." ¹⁵ But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," because she was afraid. He* said, "No, but you did laugh."

⁹ He said, "How have I sinned that you are giving your servant into the hand of Ahab to kill me?

¹⁹ The men of the city said to Elisha, "Please now, the location of the city is good, as my master can see, but the water is bad and the land unproductive."

²⁸ Then she said, "Did I ask for a son from my lord? Did I not say that you must not mislead me?"

¹⁰ Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go, you must wash seven times in the Jordan, then your flesh shall return to you, and you shall be clean." ¹¹ But Naaman became angry and he went and said, "Look, I said to myself, 'Surely he will come out, stand, call upon the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hands over the spot; then he would take away the skin disease.'

¹¹ I said in my haste, "_⌊Everyone_⌋* is a liar."

¹³ But the angel said to him,
"Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will call his name John.

¹⁸ And Zechariah said to the angel, "By what will I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced _⌊in years_⌋!"* ¹⁹ And the angel answered and* said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news. ²⁰ And behold, you will be silent and not able to speak until the day these things take place, _⌊because_⌋* you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time."

³⁰ And the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. ³¹ And behold, you will conceive in the womb and will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus.

¹ And Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said. And Yahweh did to Sarah as he had promised.

¹⁹ Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before Yahweh _⌊and returned_⌋* to their house at Ramah. Then Elkanah _⌊had sexual relations with_⌋* Hannah his wife, and Yahweh remembered her. ²⁰ _⌊In due time_⌋,* Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She called his name Samuel, for she said, "I requested him from Yahweh."

⁹ He causes the barren woman of the house to dwell as the happy mother of children. Praise Yah!*

²⁴ Now after these days, his wife Elizabeth conceived, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying, ²⁵ "Thus the Lord has done for me in the days in which he has concerned himself with me,* to take away my disgrace among people."

³⁶ And behold, your relative Elizabeth—she also has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren.

¹¹ By faith also, _⌊with Sarah_⌋*,* he received _⌊the ability to procreate_⌋* even _⌊past the normal age_⌋*, because he regarded the one who had promised to be faithful.

⁴ And look, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, "May Yahweh be with you." And they said to him, "May Yahweh bless you."

¹ "A human being born of a woman is short of days and full of troubles.* ² Like a flower he comes up, and he withers away; and he flees like a* shadow, but* he does not last.

¹⁹ My bowels, my bowels! I writhe! The walls of my heart! My heart is restless within me, I cannot keep silent, for I hear in my inner self the sound of a horn, the alarm of war.

² And he said, "Take your son, your only child, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains where* I will tell you."

³ Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, for he was a son of his old age. And he made a robe with long sleeves* for him.

⁵ And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers. And _⌊they hated him even more_⌋.*

¹⁷ It happened after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill; and his illness was very severe until there was no breath left in him.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her suckling, refrain from having compassion on the child of her womb? Indeed, these may forget, but* I, I will not forget you!

¹³ As a man whose mother comforts him, so I myself will comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

¹⁶ "Son of man,* look! I am taking from you what is pleasing to your eyes with a plague,* but you shall not mourn, and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not run down. ¹⁷ Sigh in silence for the dead; you shall not make a mourning ceremony. Bind your turban on you, and you must put your sandals on your feet. You must not cover your upper lip,* and the bread of _⌊mourners_⌋* you shall not eat." ¹⁸ And I spoke to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and I did in the morning _⌊just as_⌋* I was commanded.

³⁵ and a sword will pierce your own soul also, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed!"

¹² And as he approached the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, his mother's only son, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.

³ So the sisters sent word* to him, saying, "Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick."

⁵ (Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.)

¹⁴ So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus has died,

¹⁰ let us make a small enclosed room upstairs and put a bed, table, chair, and lampstand there for him, so that when he comes to us, he can turn and stay there.

³² When Elisha came to the house, here was the boy dead, lying on his bed.

²⁴ She saddled the female donkey, and she said to her servant, "Drive along and go; you must not hold me back from riding, unless I tell you."

²⁶ Now, please run to meet her and ask her, 'Is it peace for you? Is it peace for your husband? Is it peace for the boy?'" She said, "Peace."

³⁸ And because* Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, when they* heard that Peter was in _⌊Lydda_⌋,* sent two men to him, urging, "Do not delay to come to us!"

¹⁰ "And on the day of your joy and in your appointed times, at the beginning of your months, you will blow on the trumpets in addition to your burnt offerings and in addition to the sacrifices of your fellowship offerings. And they will be as a memorial for you _⌊before_⌋* your God; I am Yahweh your God."

¹¹ " 'And at the beginning of each of your months, you will present a burnt offering for Yahweh: two bulls and one ram, seven male lambs without defect _⌊in their first year_⌋;*

³¹ and for every burnt offering offered to Yahweh, on Sabbaths, on new moon festivals, and at the appointed feasts, according to the customary number _⌊required of them_⌋,* regularly before Yahweh.

¹³ You must not _⌊continue_⌋* to bring offerings* of futility, incense—it is an abomination to me; new moon and Sabbath, the calling of a convocation— I cannot endure iniquity with solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed festivals my soul hates; they have become to me like a burden, I am not able to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers,* I will not be listening. Your hands are full of blood.

²⁰ And Moses took his wife and his sons and had them ride on the donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt, and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

¹⁹ Then she said to her servants, "Go ahead before me; look, I am coming after you," but she did not tell her husband Nabal. ²⁰ _⌊And then_⌋,* as she was riding on the donkey and was going down the ravine of the mountain, David and his men were coming down to meet her, and she met them.

¹³ Then he said to his sons, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled the donkey for him, and he mounted it

²³ It happened after he ate food and drank water that he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

¹⁹ So then, send word and assemble all of Israel to me on Mount Carmel, with the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at the table of Jezebel."

⁴² So Ahab went up to eat and to drink while Elijah went to the top of Carmel, bent down to the earth, and put his face between his knees.

²⁵ Then he went from there to Mount Carmel and from there he returned to Samaria.

² It shall blossom abundantly, and it shall rejoice indeed with rejoicing and exulting. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. _⌊They are the ones who_⌋* shall see the glory of Yahweh, the majesty of our God.

⁶ And he said to them, "_⌊Is he well_⌋?"* And they said, "He is well. Now look, Rachel his daughter is coming with the sheep."

¹⁴ Then he said to him, "Go now, see _⌊if it goes well for your brothers and for the flock_⌋,* then return word to me." And he sent him from the valley of Hebron, and he arrived at Shechem.

³ Therefore* Moses said to Aaron, "This is what Yahweh spoke, saying, 'Among those who are close to me I will show myself holy, and _⌊in the presence of_⌋* all the people I will display my glory.'"* So* Aaron was silent.

¹⁸ So Samuel told him all the words and did not conceal anything from him. And he* said, "He is Yahweh, he will do _⌊what is_⌋* good in his _⌊sight_⌋."*

¹⁸ And these ten portions of cheese you will bring to the commander of the thousand; _⌊find out how your brothers are doing_⌋,* and take their pledge."*

²³ And he said, "Why are you going to him today? It is neither the new moon nor the Sabbath!" And she said, "Peace."

²¹ Then* he said, "Naked I came out from my mother's womb, and naked I will return there. Yahweh gives, and Yahweh takes. Let Yahweh's name be blessed." ²² In all this, Job did not sin and did not _⌊charge God with wrongdoing_⌋.*

⁹ I am mute. I do not open my mouth, for you, yourself, have done it.

⁴ And he said to him, "Run, say to that young man, 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited _⌊like villages without walls_⌋* because of the multitude of people and animals in its midst.

¹² And when you* enter into the house, greet it. ¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

³⁶ And after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, "Come then,let us return and* visit the brothers in every town in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing."

¹⁷ Then Yahweh said, "Shall I conceal from Abraham what I am going to do?

¹⁰ She was _⌊deeply troubled_⌋,* so she prayed to Yahweh and wept bitterly.

³ Nathan said to the king, "Go and do all that is in your heart, for Yahweh is with you."

²⁵ So she went and came to the man of God by Mount Carmel. It happened when the man of God saw her _⌊at a distance_⌋,* he said to Gehazi his servant, "There is this Shunammite.

¹² Then one of his servants said, "No, my lord the king, but Elisha the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel things which you speak _⌊in your own bedchamber_⌋."*

¹ "My inner self* loathes my life; _⌊I want to give vent to my complaint_⌋;* I want to speak out of the bitterness of my inner self.*

¹⁰ The heart* knows the bitterness of its soul,* but in its joy, it will not share itself with a stranger.

¹⁴ The spirit of a man will endure his sickness, but a broken spirit, who may bear it?

⁷ Surely my Lord does not do anything unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.

²³ But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came up and* asked him, saying, "Send her away, because she is crying out after us!"

³¹ And the crowd rebuked them so that they would be quiet. But they called out all the more, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us,* Son of David!"

⁹ And behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Greetings!" And they came up and* took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

¹³ And they were bringing young children to him so that he could touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.

⁶ But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you cause trouble for her? She has done a good deed to me.

³⁸ and standing behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and was wiping them* with the hair of her head and was kissing his feet and anointing them* with the perfumed oil.

²⁷ And at this point* his disciples came, and they were astonished that he was speaking with a woman. However, no one said, "What do you seek?" or "Why are you speaking with her?"

⁴ But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) said, ⁵ "_⌊Why_⌋* was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" ⁶ (Now he said this not because _⌊he was concerned_⌋* about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, he used to steal what was put into it.)* ⁷ So Jesus said, "Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my preparation for burial.

¹⁵ No longer do I call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything that I have heard from my Father I have revealed to you.

¹⁶ And he said, "At this time _⌊next spring_⌋,* you will be embracing a son." She said, "No, my lord, O man of God! You must not tell a lie to your servant!" ¹⁷ And you must take this staff in your hand, with which you will do the signs."

¹⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and stretch your hand out over the waters of Egypt and over their rivers, over their canals, and over their pools and over all of their reservoirs of water, so that they become blood,' and blood will be in all the land of Egypt and in vessels of wood and of stone." ²⁰ And Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh had commanded, and he raised the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile before the eyes of Pharaoh and before the eyes of his servants, and all of the water that was in the Nile was changed to blood.

¹⁶ And you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it so that the _⌊Israelites_⌋* can go in the middle of the sea on the dry land.

⁴ And seven priests will bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day you will march around the city seven times, and the priests will blow on the trumpets. ⁵ And when they blow long on the horn of the ram, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people will shout with a great war cry, and the wall of the city will fall flat,* and _⌊the people will charge, each one straight ahead_⌋."*

⁴⁶ but the hand of Yahweh was on Elijah; he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab as one comes to Jezreel.

⁸ Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and struck the water. It divided _⌊in two_⌋,* and the two of them crossed over on dry land.

¹⁴ He took Elijah's cloak that had fallen from upon him and struck the water. Then he said, "Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?" So he also struck the water, and it divided _⌊in two_⌋,* and Elisha crossed over.

¹ Now Elisha the prophet called for one of the sons of the prophets, and he said to him, "Gird your loins, and take this flask of olive oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead.

⁴ Do not carry a money bag or a traveler's bag or sandals, and greet no one along the road.

¹⁶ And on the basis of faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know, and the faith that is through him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs or work aprons _⌊that had touched his skin_⌋* were carried away to those who were sick, and their* diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.*

¹⁴ Stand therefore, girding your waist with truth, and putting on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹³ Therefore, _⌊when you have prepared your minds for action_⌋* by* being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹² And Moses said to Yahweh, "See, you are saying to me, 'Take this people up.' But you have not let me know whom you will send with me, and you yourself have said, 'I know you by name, and you also have found favor in my eyes.' ¹³ And now if I have found favor in your eyes, make known to me, please, your way, and so I may know you so that I can find favor in your eyes. And see that this nation is your people." ¹⁴ And he said, "My presence will go, and I will give you rest." ¹⁵ And he said to him, "If your presence is not going, do not bring us up from here. ¹⁶ And by what will it be known then that I have found favor in your eyes, I and your people? Is it not by your going with us? And so we will be distinguished, I and your people, from all the people who are on the face of the ground."

¹⁶ But Ruth said, "_⌊Do not urge_⌋* me to leave you or to return from _⌊following you_⌋!* For where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God. ¹⁷ Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. So may Yahweh do to me, _⌊and even more, unless_⌋* death _⌊separates you and me_⌋!"* ¹⁸ When Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, _⌊she said no more_⌋.*

² Elijah said to Elisha, "Please stay here, for Yahweh has sent me up to Bethel." Elisha said, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋* and _⌊as your soul lives_⌋,* I will certainly not leave you!" So they went down to Bethel.

⁴ Elijah said to him, "Elisha, please stay here because Yahweh has sent me to Jericho." And he said, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋* and _⌊as your soul lives_⌋,* I will certainly not leave you!" So they came to Jericho.

³⁷ So Saul inquired of God, "Should I go down after the Philistines? Will you give them into the hand of Israel?" But he did not answer him on that day.

⁶ And Saul inquired of Yahweh, but Yahweh did not answer him, not by dreams or by the Urim* or by the prophets.

²⁶ So they took the bull that he allowed to them, prepared it, and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, "O Baal, answer us!" But there was no voice and there was no answer, so they limped* about the altar which they had made.

²⁹ It happened as noon passed, they raged until the time of the evening offering, but there was no voice, there was no answer, and no one paid attention.

¹² _⌊so_⌋* a man lies down, and he does not arise. _⌊Until the heavens are no more_⌋,* they will not awaken, and they will not be roused out of their sleep.

³ "Son of man,* these men took up their idols into their heart and _⌊they placed before themselves_⌋* a stumbling block of their guilt.* _⌊Should I really let myself be consulted by them_⌋?*

² And many from those sleeping _⌊in the dusty ground_⌋* will awake, some to _⌊everlasting life_⌋* and some to disgrace and _⌊everlasting contempt_⌋.*

¹⁶ And I brought him to your disciples, and they were not able to heal him." ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and* said, "O unbelieving and perverse generation! _⌊How long_⌋* will I be with you? _⌊How long_⌋* must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!" ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him and the boy was healed from that hour. ¹⁹ Then the disciples approached Jesus privately and* said, _⌊Why_⌋* were we not able to expel it?" ²⁰ And he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."*

³⁹ And when he* entered, he said to them, "Why are you agitated and weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping."

¹⁹ And he answered them and* said, "O unbelieving generation! _⌊How long_⌋* will I be with you? _⌊How long_⌋* must I put up with you? Bring him to me!" ²⁰ And they brought him to him. And when he* saw him, the spirit immediately convulsed him, and falling on the ground, he began to roll around, foaming at the mouth. ²¹ And he asked his father how long it was since this had been happening to him. And he said, "From childhood. ²² And often it has thrown him both into fire and into water, in order that it could destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and* help us!" ²³ But Jesus said to him, "If you are able! All things are possible for the one who believes!" ²⁴ Immediately the father of the child cried out and* said, "I believe! Help my unbelief!" ²⁵ Now when* Jesus saw that a crowd was running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "Mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and enter into him no more!" ²⁶ And it came out, screaming and convulsing him* greatly, and he became as if he were dead, so that most of them said, "He has died!" ²⁷ But Jesus took hold of his hand and* raised him up, and he stood up. ²⁸ And after* he had entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why were we not able to expel it?" ²⁹ And he said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing except by prayer."*

¹¹ He said these things, and after this he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I can awaken him."

⁴³ And when he* had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" ⁴⁴ The one who had died came out, his* feet and his* hands bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped with a facecloth. Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go."

¹³ But some itinerant Jewish exorcists also attempted to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches!" ¹⁴ (Now seven sons of a certain Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.) ¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered and* said to them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with, but who are you?" ¹⁶ And the man _⌊who had the evil spirit_⌋* leaped on them, subdued all of them, and* prevailed against them, so that they ran away from that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ And this became known to all who lived in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks, and fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was exalted.

¹⁴ for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says,
Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.*

⁵² And they were all weeping and mourning for her, but he said, "Do not weep! For she is not dead, but is sleeping." ⁵³ And they began laughing* at him, because they* knew that she was dead.

¹⁷ So when he* arrived, Jesus found he had already been four days in the tomb.

²⁰ Then he called to Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh my God, are you also causing evil to come upon the widow with whom I am dwelling as an alien by causing her son to die?" ²¹ He stretched himself out on the child three times and called to Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh my God, please let the life of this child return within him."

²⁶ So they took the bull that he allowed to them, prepared it, and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, "O Baal, answer us!" But there was no voice and there was no answer, so they limped* about the altar which they had made. ²⁷ It happened at noon that Elijah mocked them and said, "Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god! Perhaps he is meditating, or _⌊is using the bathroom_⌋,* or is on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep and must wake up!"

⁴ You must also go and shut the door behind you and your children, and you must pour out oil into all of these containers and set the filled ones aside."

¹⁷ Then Elisha prayed and said, "O Yahweh, please open his eyes that he may see," and Yahweh opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw, and look, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ¹⁸ They came down to him, and Elisha prayed to Yahweh and said, "Please strike this people with blindness," so he struck them with blindness as _⌊Elisha had spoken_⌋.*

²⁰ It happened at the moment they came to Samaria, Elisha said, "O Yahweh, open the eyes of these that they may see," so Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw, and look, the middle of Samaria!

⁵¹ Now when he* came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him except Peter and John and James and the father and mother of the child.

⁴¹ So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his* eyes above and said, "Father, I give thanks to you that you hear me. ⁴² And I know that you always hear me, but for the sake of the crowd standing around I said it,* so that they may believe that you sent me."

¹³ Is anyone among you suffering misfortune? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praise. ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the elders of the church and they should pray over him, anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins _⌊he will be forgiven_⌋*. ¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. ¹⁷ Elijah was a human being* with the same nature as us, and _⌊he prayed fervently_⌋* for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit.

²¹ He stretched himself out on the child three times and called to Yahweh and said, "O Yahweh my God, please let the life of this child return within him."

¹⁰ But Paul went down and* threw himself on him, and putting his arms around him,* said, "Do not be distressed, for his life is in him."

²² Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah, and the life of the child returned within him, and he lived.

⁵ It happened that as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, suddenly the woman whose son he had restored to life was crying out to the king about her household and about her field. Then Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life!"

²¹ And it happened that they were burying a man; suddenly they saw the marauding band, so they threw the man in the grave of Elisha. As he went in, the man touched the bones of Elisha, and became alive and got up on his feet!

¹⁴ And he came up and* touched the bier, and those who were carrying it* stopped. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" ¹⁵ And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother.

⁵⁵ And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately, and he ordered something* to be given to her to eat.

²³ Elijah then took the child and brought him down from the upper room to the house and gave him to his mother. Elijah said, "Look, your son is alive."

¹⁵ And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother.

³⁵ Women received back their dead by resurrection. But others were tortured, not accepting release, in order that they might gain a better resurrection.

¹⁵ When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho saw him from the other side, they declared, "The spirit of Elijah rests upon Elisha," and they came to meet him and bowed down to him to the ground.

²⁷ So she came to the man of God at the mountain, and she caught hold of his feet. Then Gehazi came near to push her away, but the man of God said, "Let her alone, for her soul is bitter, and Yahweh has hidden it from me and has not told me."

²⁶ At my breaking the _⌊supply_⌋* of bread* for you, then* ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall return your bread by weight; and you shall eat it, and you shall not be satisfied.

²² Yahweh will afflict you with the wasting diseases and with the fever and with the inflammation and with the scorching heat and with the sword* and with the blight and with the mildew, and they shall pursue you _⌊until you perish_⌋.* ²³ And your heavens that are over your heads shall be like bronze, and the earth that is under you shall be like iron. ²⁴ Yahweh will change the rain of your land to fine dust and to sand; from the heaven it shall come down upon you _⌊until you are destroyed_⌋.*

³⁸ "You shall carry out much seed to the field, but you shall gather little produce, for the locust shall devour it. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards and you shall dress* them, but you shall not drink wine and you shall not gather grapes, for the worm shall eat it.* ⁴⁰ There shall be olive trees for you in all of your territory, but you shall not anoint yourself, for your olives* shall drop off.

¹⁶ He used to go on the circuit _⌊from year to year_⌋.* He went around Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, and he judged Israel in all these places. ¹⁷ Then _⌊he returned_⌋* to Ramah, because his house was there, and there he judged Israel, and he built an altar to Yahweh there.

²⁰ So Saul sent messengers to capture David. When they saw the company of the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as chief over them, then the Spirit of God came upon Saul's messengers, and they also prophesied.

¹ There was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David _⌊inquired of Yahweh_⌋,* and Yahweh said, "The bloodguilt is on Saul and on his household, because he killed the Gibeonites."

¹ When Yahweh was about to take Elijah up in the storm to heaven, Elijah and Elisha went from Gilgal.

³⁴ Happy is the person who listens to me, in order to keep watch at my doors day by day, in order to guard the frames of my entrances.

¹ That which came as the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah concerning the matter* of the severe drought. ² "Judah mourns, and her gates languish, they are in mourning on the ground, and the cry of lament of Jerusalem goes up. ³ And their nobles send their servants for water. They come to the pits, they find no water. They return with their vessels _⌊empty_⌋.* They are ashamed, and they are confounded, and they cover their heads.* ⁴ Because of the ground, which is cracked because there was no rain on the ground. The farmers are ashamed, they cover their heads.* ⁵ For even the doe in the field gives birth and forsakes her young,* because there is no green growth. ⁶ And wild asses stand on the barren heights, they gasp for breath like the jackals. Their eyes fail because there is no vegetation."

¹³ "Son of man,* when a land sins against me by _⌊acting very unfaithfully_⌋,* then I will stretch out my hand against it, and I will break for it the _⌊supply of food_⌋,* and I will send against it famine, and I will cut it off, both human and animal.

³ And _⌊deliver a proverb_⌋* to _⌊the rebellious house_⌋,* and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Place the pot! Place it and also pour water into it.

³⁷ But he answered and* said to them, "You give them something* to eat." And they said to him, "Should we go and* purchase bread for two hundred denarii and give it* to them to eat?"

² "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have remained with me three days already and do not have anything to eat. ³ And if I send them away hungry to their homes they will give out on the way, and some of them have come from far away." ⁴ And his disciples answered him, "Where is anyone able to feed these people with bread here in the desert?" ⁵ And he asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" So they said, "Seven." ⁶ And he commanded the crowd to recline for a meal on the ground, and taking the seven loaves, after he* had given thanks he broke them* and began giving* them* to his disciples so that they could set them* before them.* And they set them* before the crowd.

⁴⁶ And it happened that after three days they found him in the temple courts,* sitting in the midst of the teachers and listening to them and asking them questions.

²⁵ But in truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut for three years and six months while a great famine took place over all the land.

³⁵ So they went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting there clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid.

³⁸ And the man from who the demons had gone out was begging him to stay with him, but he sent him away, saying,

¹³ But he said to them, "You give them something to eat!" And they said, "_⌊We have no_⌋* more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and* purchase food for all these people."

³⁹ And _⌊she had_⌋* a sister named Mary, who also sat at the feet of Jesus* and* was listening to his teaching.

⁵ So Jesus said to them, "Children, you do not have any fish to eat, do you?* They answered him, "No."

⁹ So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire laid there, and a fish lying on it,* and bread.

³⁸ Jesus of Nazareth—how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

³ "I am a Jewish man born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to the exactness of the law received from our fathers, being zealous for God, just as all of you are today.

⁴ What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not done in it? Why did I hope for it to yield grapes, and it yielded wild grapes?

²¹ Yet I planted you as a choice vine, all of it a seed of trustworthiness. How then have you altered before me into something that is degenerate, the foreign vine?

¹³ And he answered and* said, "Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.

¹⁵ Take care that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no one growing up like a root of bitterness causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

¹⁷ And now forgive my sin surely this time, and pray to Yahweh your God so that he may only remove from me this death."

²³ And they came to Marah, and they were not able to drink water from Marah because it was bitter. Therefore _⌊it was named_⌋* Marah.

⁹ So _⌊Ahaziah_⌋* sent to him the commander of fifty with his fifty men, and he went up to him while he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, "O man of God, the king says, 'Come down.'"

¹¹ So he _⌊again sent_⌋* another commander of fifty and his fifty men. He answered and said to him, "O man of God, thus says the king, 'Come down quickly!'"

¹³ So he _⌊again sent_⌋* a third time a commander of fifty and his fifty, and the commander of the third fifty went up and came and knelt down on his knees before Elijah and entreated him. He said to him, "O man of God, please let my life and the lives of your servants, these fifty, be precious in your eyes.

⁹ She said to her husband, "Please now, I know that he is a holy man of God who is passing _⌊our way_⌋* regularly;

¹⁸ they will pick up* snakes.* And if they drink any deadly poison it will never hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and _⌊they will get_⌋* well."

²⁵ And he cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh showed him a piece of wood, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There he made a rule and regulation for them, and there he tested them.

²¹ Then he went out to the spring of waters and threw the salt into it there and said, "Thus says Yahweh, 'I hereby purify these waters; let there be no longer any death or unproductiveness from it.'"

¹⁰ Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go, you must wash seven times in the Jordan, then your flesh shall return to you, and you shall be clean."

⁶ Then the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" So he showed him the place, and then he cut off a stick and threw it there and made the iron ax float.

⁶ When he* had said these things, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes.

⁵ He, in turn, shook off the creature into the fire and* suffered no harm.

²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,* and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.*

¹⁶ And you will keep the Feast of Harvest, with the firstfruits of your work, what you sow in the field. And you will keep the Feast of Harvest Gathering when the year goes out, when you gather your work from the field.

⁸ to a land of wheat and barley and vines* and fig trees* and pomegranate trees,* a land of olive trees,* olive oil and honey;

⁶ And you shall bring there your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes and _⌊your donations_⌋* and your votive gifts and your freewill offerings and the firstling of your herd and your flock.

² then you shall take from the firstfruit of all the fruit of the ground that you harvest from your land that Yahweh your God is giving to you, and you shall put it in a basket, and you shall go to the place that Yahweh your God will choose to make his name to dwell there. ³ And you shall go to the priest who is in office in those days, and you shall say, 'I declare _⌊today_⌋* to Yahweh your God that I have come into the land that Yahweh swore to our ancestors* to give to us.' ⁴ Then the priest takes the basket from your hand and places it _⌊before_⌋* the altar of Yahweh your God. ⁵ And _⌊you shall declare_⌋* and you shall say _⌊before_⌋* your God, 'My ancestor* was a wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt, and there he dwelt as an alien _⌊few in number_⌋,* and there he became a great nation, mighty and numerous. ⁶ And the Egyptians treated us badly, and they oppressed us and imposed on us hard labor. ⁷ And we cried to Yahweh, the God of our ancestors,* and Yahweh heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression. ⁸ And Yahweh brought us out from Egypt with a strong hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and with wonders. ⁹ And he brought us to this place and gave to us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. ¹⁰ And now, look, I am bringing* the firstfruit of the fruit of the ground that you gave to me, Yahweh,' and you shall place it _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God, and you shall bow down _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God.

¹⁴ With curds* from the herd, and with milk from the flock, with the fat of young rams, and rams, the offspring of Bashan, and with goats along with the finest kernels of wheat, and from the blood of grapes* you drank fermented wine.*

⁴ So he passed through the hill country of Ephraim; he passed through the land of Shalisha but they did not find them. They passed through the land of Shaalim but they were not there. He passed through the land of Benjamin but did not find them.

⁷ So Saul said to his servant, "Look, we may go, but what should we bring to the man? For the bread is gone from our bags, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have with us?"

¹ Elisha said, "Hear the word of Yahweh: 'Thus says Yahweh, "At this time tomorrow a seah of wheat bread flour will sell for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria.'"

¹⁶ So the people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans. A seah of wheat flour went for a shekel and two seahs of barley went for a shekel according to the word of Yahweh. ¹⁷ Then the king appointed the officer he was depending on over the gate, but the people trampled him and he died, according to that which the man of God had said which he spoke when the king came down to him. ¹⁸ It happened as the man of God spoke to the king, saying, "Two seahs of barley shall be sold for a shekel and a seah of wheat flour for a shekel at this time tomorrow in the gate of Samaria."

¹³ Now the priests and the Levites who were throughout all Israel took their stand with him* from all their territories. ¹⁴ For the Levites left their pasturelands and their property and came to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them from serving as priests to Yahweh.

⁹ Honor Yahweh from your substance,* and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you, ¹⁰ and your barns shall be full of plenty, and your vats shall burst with new wine.

¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They do not _⌊need_⌋* to go away. You give them something* to eat." ¹⁷ And they said to him, "We do not have anything* here except five loaves and two fish." ¹⁸ So he said, "Bring them here to me." ¹⁹ And he commanded the crowds to recline for a meal on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and* looking up to heaven, he gave thanks. And after* breaking them,* he gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave them* to the crowds. ²⁰ And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. ²¹ Now those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.

³² And Jesus summoned his disciples and* said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have remained with me three days already and do not have anything to eat, and I do not want to send them away hungry lest they give out on the way." ³³ And the disciples said to him, "Where in this desolate place _⌊can we get_⌋* so much bread that such a great crowd could be satisfied?" ³⁴ And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" So they said, "Seven, and a few little fish." ³⁵ And commanding the crowd to recline for a meal on the ground, ³⁶ he took the seven loaves and the fish and after he* had given thanks, he broke them* and began giving* them* to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. ³⁷ And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full. ³⁸ Now those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.

⁹ "Here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?"

¹³ So they gathered them,* and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.

¹¹ If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too great a thing if we reap material things from you?

⁶ Now the one who is taught the word must share in all good things with the one who teaches.

¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They do not _⌊need_⌋* to go away. You give them something* to eat." ¹⁷ And they said to him, "We do not have anything* here except five loaves and two fish."

³³ And the disciples said to him, "Where in this desolate place _⌊can we get_⌋* so much bread that such a great crowd could be satisfied?" ³⁴ And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" So they said, "Seven, and a few little fish."

⁸ But knowing this,* Jesus said, "Why are you discussing among yourselves that you did not take bread,* you of little faith? ⁹ Do you not yet understand or do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?

³⁷ But he answered and* said to them, "You give them something* to eat." And they said to him, "Should we go and* purchase bread for two hundred denarii and give it* to them to eat?" ³⁸ And he said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go look!" And when they* found out, they said, "Five, and two fish." ³⁹ And he ordered them all to recline in groups on the green grass.

⁴² And they all ate and were satisfied. ⁴³ And they picked up the broken pieces, twelve baskets full, and of the fish.

⁴ And his disciples answered him, "Where is anyone able to feed these people with bread here in the desert?"

²⁰ "When I also* broke* the seven loaves* for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?" And they said to him, "Seven."

¹⁷ And they all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over was picked up by them—twelve baskets of broken pieces.

¹¹ Then Jesus took the bread, and after he* had given thanks, he distributed it* to those who were reclining—likewise also of the fish, as much as they wanted. ¹² And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, "Gather the remaining fragments so that nothing is lost." ¹³ So they gathered them,* and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
