² so that you may revere Yahweh your God by keeping all his statutes and his commandments that I am commanding you, you and your children and _⌊grandchildren_⌋,* all the days of your life and so you may live long* lives.

¹⁹ For I have chosen* him, that he will command his children and his household after him that they will keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice, so that Yahweh may bring upon Abraham that which he said to him."

¹² And he said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the boy; do not do anything to him. For now I know that you are _⌊one who fears_⌋* God, since you have not withheld your son, your only child, from me."

²⁰ And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you so that his fear will be before you so that you do not sin."

¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God at Horeb _⌊when Yahweh said to me_⌋,* 'Summon for me the people so that I can tell them my words, that they may learn to fear me all of the days they are alive on the earth and so that they may teach their children.'

⁴⁰ And you shall keep his rules and his commandments that I am commanding you _⌊today_⌋,* so that _⌊it may go well_⌋* for you and for your children* after you, and so that _⌊you may remain a long time_⌋* on the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you during all of those days."

¹⁶ 'Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you, so that it will be good for you* _⌊in the land_⌋* that Yahweh your God is giving to you.

³³ _⌊In exactly the path_⌋* that Yahweh your God has commanded, you must go, so that you may live and _⌊it will go well_⌋* for you and _⌊you may live long_⌋* in the land that you will take possession of."

⁷ And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up.

¹² And now, Israel, what is Yahweh your God asking* from you, except* to revere Yahweh your God, to go* in all his ways and to love him and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul,* ¹³ to keep the commandments of Yahweh and his statutes that I am commanding you today _⌊for your own good_⌋.*

²⁰ Yahweh your God, you shall revere him, you shall serve him, and to him you shall cling, and by his name you shall swear.

⁴ You shall go after Yahweh your God, and him you shall revere, and his commandment you shall keep, and to his voice you shall listen, and him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast.

⁷ you shall certainly let the mother go, but you may take the young for yourselves;* do this _⌊so that it may go well_⌋* for you and _⌊you may live long in the land_⌋.*

²⁸ And to the human beings he said, 'Look, the fear of the Lord is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding.'"

⁴ We will not hide them from their children,* telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh, and his power and his wonders that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law* in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors* to teach to their children, ⁶ so that the next generation might know— children yet to be born— that they might rise up and tell their children, ⁷ that they might set their confidence in God, and not forget the deeds of God, but keep his commandments, ⁸ and not be like their ancestors,* a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not make ready its heart, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

¹⁰ The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom; all who do them* have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh, who walks in his ways.

¹ My child, do not forget my instruction, and may your heart guard my commands. ² For length of days, years of life, and peace they* shall add to you.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

⁶ By loyalty and faithfulness, iniquity will be covered over,* and by fear of Yahweh _⌊one turns_⌋* from evil.

¹³ Now that all has been heard, here is the final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: fear the one who has authority, after the killing, to throw you* into hell! Yes, I tell you, fear this one!

¹⁷ And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's work, conduct yourselves with fear during the time of your temporary residence,

¹⁰ For
"The one who wants to love life and see good days must keep his* tongue from evil and his lips must not speak deceit. ¹¹ And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
