⁶ And then he went toward* the gate whose face was _⌊to the east_⌋.* And he went up by* its steps, and he measured the threshold of the gate, one reed* wide.

⁸ The doorway of the side room in the middle of the side of the temple* was on the south; they went up with a stairway to the middle and from the middle to the third floor.

¹⁸ until then they were gatekeepers at the gate of the king on the east side toward the camps of the Levites.

²⁴ The gatekeepers were on four sides: east, west, north, and south.

²⁹ After them Zadok son of Immer repaired opposite his house. After him Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the East Gate, repaired.

¹⁰ Because better is a day in your courtyards than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be at the threshold of the house* of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

² and go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom, which is at the entrance of the Gate of the Potsherd, and proclaim there the words that I speak to you.

¹⁶ And he brought me to the inner courtyard of the house of Yahweh, and look, at the doorway of the temple of Yahweh, between the portico and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of Yahweh and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing down toward the east before the sun.

¹⁸ And the glory of Yahweh went out from* the threshold of the temple, and it stood above the cherubim.

¹ And the Spirit lifted me up, and it brought me to the eastern gate, the one facing east, of the temple* of Yahweh. And look, there were twenty-five men in the doorway of the gate, and I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur in the midst of them, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, the commanders of the people.

⁵ And there was a wall on the outside of the temple _⌊all the way around it_⌋,* and in the hand of the man the reed* for measurement was six long cubits, _⌊according to_⌋* the cubit* and a handbreadth,* and he measured the width of the outer wall as one reed,* and the height as one reed.*

⁷ And the alcove* was one reed* long and one reed* wide,* and between the alcoves was five cubits,* and the threshold of the gate along the side of the portico of the gate _⌊on the inside_⌋* was one reed.*

²⁰ And as for the gate that had its face _⌊toward the north_⌋* of the outer courtyard, he measured its length and its width.

²⁶ And seven steps were going up to it and its porticos _⌊before them_⌋.* And _⌊it had palm tree images_⌋* _⌊all along_⌋* its pilasters.

¹ And he brought me to the gate which was _⌊facing east_⌋.*

⁸ _⌊When they placed their threshold_⌋* with* my threshold, their doorframe beside my doorframe and the* wall was between me and between them, then they defiled _⌊my holy name_⌋,* with their detestable things that they did, and so I consumed them in my anger.

¹ And he brought me back by the way of the outer gate of the sanctuary that is facing east, and it was shut.

¹ Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "The gate of the inner courtyard facing east must be shut on* the six of the days for work, but on the day of the Sabbath it must be opened and on the day of the new moon it must be opened. ² And the prince shall come by way of the portico of the gate from the outside, and he shall stand at the doorframe of the gate and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his fellowship offerings, and he shall bow down at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be closed until the evening.

¹² And when the prince makes a freewill offering, a burnt offering, or a fellowship offering as a freewill offering to Yahweh, the gate facing east will be open for him. And he must offer his burnt offering and his fellowship offering _⌊just as_⌋* he does on the day of the Sabbath, and then he must go out and the gate will shut _⌊after he goes out_⌋.*

¹ And he brought me back to the doorway of the temple and, look! There was water coming out from under the threshold of the temple eastward, because the face of the temple was eastwards; and the water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, from south of the altar.
