¹ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron's two sons, when they had come near _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh and they died. ² And Yahweh said to Moses, "Tell* your brother Aaron that he should not enter at any time into the sanctuary _⌊behind_⌋* the curtain _⌊in front of_⌋* the atonement cover that is on the ark, so that he might not die, because I appear in the cloud over the atonement cover. ³ "Aaron must enter the sanctuary with this: _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering. ⁴ He must put on _⌊a holy linen tunic_⌋,* and linen undergarments must be on his body, and he must fasten himself* with a linen sash, and he must wrap a linen turban around his head*—they are holy garments, and he shall wash his body with water, then* he shall put them on. ⁵ And he must take from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* community two he-goats as a sin offering and one ram as a burnt offering. ⁶ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family. ⁷ And he shall take the two goats, and he shall present them _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh at the tent of assembly's entrance. ⁸ Then* Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for Yahweh and one for Azazel. ⁹ And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot for Yahweh fell, and he shall _⌊sacrifice_⌋* it as a sin offering. ¹⁰ But* he must present alive _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh the goat on which the lot for Azazel fell to make atonement for himself, to send it away into the desert to Azazel. ¹¹ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family; then* he shall slaughter the sin offering's bull, which is for himself. ¹² And he shall take a* censer full of _⌊burning charcoal_⌋* from upon the altar from _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh and _⌊two handfuls_⌋* of incense of powdered fragrant perfumes, and he shall bring it _⌊from behind_⌋* the curtain, ¹³ and he shall put the incense on the fire _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh so that the cloud of incense might cover the atonement cover, which is on the _⌊covenant text_⌋,* so that he might not die. ¹⁴ And he shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood, and he shall spatter it* with his finger on the atonement cover's surface on the eastern side, and _⌊before_⌋* the atonement cover he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ "And he shall slaughter the sin offering's goat, which is for the people, and he shall bring its blood _⌊from behind_⌋* the curtain, and he shall do with its blood as that which he did with* the bull's blood, and he shall spatter it on the atonement cover and _⌊before_⌋* the atonement cover. ¹⁶ Thus* he shall make atonement for the sanctuary from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities and from their transgressions for all their sins; and so he must do for the tent of assembly, which dwells with them in the midst of their impurities. ¹⁷ And _⌊no person_⌋* shall be in the tent of assembly when he enters to make atonement in the sanctuary until he comes out, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family and for all of Israel's assembly. ¹⁸ "Then* he shall go out to the altar that is _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for it; and he shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and _⌊some of_⌋* the goat's blood, and he shall put it* all around on the altar's horns. ¹⁹ And he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on it seven times with his finger, and he shall cleanse it and consecrate* it from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities. ²⁰ "And he shall finish making atonement for the sanctuary and the tent of assembly and the altar; then* he shall present the living goat. ²¹ And Aaron shall place his two hands on the living goat's head, and he shall confess over it all the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* iniquities and all their transgressions for all their sins, and he shall put them on the goat's head, and he shall send it* away into the desert _⌊with_⌋* a man standing ready.* ²² Thus* the goat shall bear on it to _⌊a barren region_⌋* all their guilt, and he shall send the goat away into the desert. ²³ "And Aaron shall enter the tent of assembly, and he shall take off the linen garments that he put on at his coming to the sanctuary, and he shall leave them there. ²⁴ And he shall wash his body with water in a holy place, and he shall put on his garments and go out and _⌊sacrifice_⌋* his burnt offering and the people's burnt offering, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for people. ²⁵ And he must turn into smoke the sin offering's fat on the altar. ²⁶ "And the person who sends out the goat for Azazel shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body with water, and _⌊afterward_⌋* he shall come to the camp. ²⁷ And the sin offering's bull and the sin offering's goat, whose blood was brought to make atonement in the sanctuary, shall be brought _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and they shall burn their hide and their flesh and their offal in the fire. ²⁸ And the person who burns them shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body with water, and _⌊afterward_⌋* he must come to the camp. ²⁹ "And this shall be _⌊a lasting statute_⌋* for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you must deny yourselves and you must not do any work, whether the native or* the alien who is dwelling in your midst, ³⁰ because on this day he shall make atonement for you to cleanse you; you must be clean from all your sins _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ³¹ It is _⌊a Sabbath of complete rest_⌋* for you, and you shall deny yourselves—it is _⌊a lasting statute_⌋.* ³² And the priest who is anointed and who is _⌊ordained_⌋* to serve as a priest in place of his father shall make atonement; thus* he shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments, ³³ and he shall make atonement for the sanctuary's holy place, and he shall make atonement for the tent of assembly and the altar, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all of the assembly's people. ³⁴ And this shall be _⌊a lasting statute_⌋* for you to make atonement for the _⌊Israelites_⌋* one time in a year from all their sins."

¹ And Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, and they put fire in them and placed incense on it;* then* they presented _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh illegitimate fire, which he had not commanded them. ² So* fire went out _⌊from before_⌋* Yahweh, and it consumed them so that* they died _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁷ "And you will make an atonement cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits its length and a cubit and a half its width. ¹⁸ And you will make two cherubim of gold; you will make them of hammered work at the two ends of the atonement cover. ¹⁹ And make one cherub _⌊at one end_⌋* and one cherub _⌊at the other end_⌋* of the atonement cover; you will make the cherubim on its two ends. ²⁰ And the cherubim will be with outspread wings above, covering with their wings over the atonement cover _⌊and facing each other_⌋;* the faces of the cherubim will be toward the atonement cover. ²¹ And you will put the atonement cover above onto the ark, and into the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you. ²² And I will meet you there, and I will speak with you from over the atonement cover, from between the two cherubim that are to be on the ark of the testimony—all that I will command you to the _⌊Israelites_⌋.*

³³ And you will put the curtain under the clasps, and you will bring the ark of the testimony there inside the curtain, and the curtain will separate for you between the holy and the _⌊most holy place_⌋.* ³⁴ And you will put the atonement cover on the ark of the testimony in the _⌊most holy place_⌋.*

¹⁰ And Aaron will make atonement on its horns one time in the year from the blood of the sin offering of the atonement; one time in the year he will make atonement on it throughout your generations; it is a most holy thing for Yahweh."

²⁰ And he took and he put the testimony into the ark, and he placed the poles on the ark, and he put the atonement cover on the ark, above it. ²¹ And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and he set up the curtain of the screening, and he shielded the ark of the testimony, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

³⁴ And the cloud covered the tent of assembly, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was unable to go into the tent of assembly because the cloud settled on it and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

³⁵ And you* must stay at the entrance to* the tent of assembly day and night for seven days, and you* shall keep the obligation from* Yahweh, so you* might not die, for thus I have been commanded."

¹³ and he shall put the incense on the fire _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh so that the cloud of incense might cover the atonement cover, which is on the _⌊covenant text_⌋,* so that he might not die.

²⁷ "Surely the Day of Atonement is on the tenth day of the seventh month; it shall be a holy assembly for you, and you shall deny yourselves, and you shall present an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

¹⁹ Do this to them and they will live and not die when they come near the most holy things. Aaron and his sons will go and appoint them, each one to his task and burden.

¹⁰ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Bring back the staff of Aaron before the testimony* as a guard and sign for the children of rebellion, and let them finish their grumblings before me and not die."

⁶ The priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place in the inner sanctuary of the house, to the _⌊most holy place_⌋,* under the wings of the cherubim,

¹⁰ When the priests went out from the holy place, the cloud filled the house of Yahweh. ¹¹ The priests were not able to stand to minister _⌊because of the presence of_⌋* the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of Yahweh. ¹² Then Solomon said, "Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the very thick cloud.

¹⁴ And the priests were not able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of God.

⁵¹ And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook and the rocks were split.

¹⁴ Therefore, because we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. ¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who has been tempted in all things in the same way, without sin. ¹⁶ Therefore let us approach with confidence to the throne of grace, in order that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

³ And after the second curtain was a tent called the holy of holies,

⁷ but only the high priest enters into the second tent once a year, not without blood, which he offers on behalf of himself and the sins of the people committed in ignorance. ⁸ The Holy Spirit was making this clear, that the way into the holy place was not yet revealed, while* the first tent was still in existence,

²⁵ and not in order that he can offer himself many times, as the high priest enters into the sanctuary _⌊year by year_⌋* with blood not his own,

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers, since we* have confidence for the entrance into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by the new and living way which he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, his flesh,

³ If his offering is a burnt offering from the cattle,* then he must present* an unblemished male; he must present it at the door of the tent of assembly for his acceptance _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁰ " 'But if his offering is from the flock,* from the sheep or from the goats for a burnt offering, he must present* an unblemished* male.

³ if the anointed priest sins, _⌊bringing guilt on the people_⌋,* then,* concerning the sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋,* he shall bring _⌊a young bull_⌋* without defect for Yahweh as a sin offering.

¹⁴ Then* he brought forth the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the bull of the sin offering,

¹⁸ Then* he brought the ram of the burnt offering near, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the ram's head,

³ Then* you* must speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'Take _⌊a he-goat_⌋* as a sin offering and a bull calf and a male sheep, _⌊yearlings_⌋* without defect,* as a burnt offering,

⁷ " 'And on the tenth of this seventh month you will have a holy convocation, and _⌊you will afflict yourselves_⌋;* you will not do any work. ⁸ You will present a burnt offering for Yahweh, a fragrance of appeasement: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs _⌊in their first year_⌋;* they will be without defect. ⁹ And their grain offering will be of finely milled flour mixed with oil: three-tenths for the bull, two-tenths for the one ram, ¹⁰ one-tenth for each of the seven male lambs; ¹¹ one male goat for a sin offering, in addition to the sin offering of atonement and the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and their libations.

⁷ but only the high priest enters into the second tent once a year, not without blood, which he offers on behalf of himself and the sins of the people committed in ignorance.

¹² and not by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for all into the most holy place, obtaining eternal redemption.

²⁴ For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf, ²⁵ and not in order that he can offer himself many times, as the high priest enters into the sanctuary _⌊year by year_⌋* with blood not his own,

² And you will make holy garments* for Aaron, your brother, for glory and for splendor.*

³⁹ "And you will weave the tunic of fine linen, and you will make a turban of fine linen, and you will make a sash, the work of an embroiderer. ⁴⁰ And for the sons of Aaron you will make tunics, and you will make for them sashes and headdresses; you will make them for glory and for splendor.* ⁴¹ And you will clothe them—Aaron, your brother, and his sons with him—and you will anoint them and _⌊ordain them_⌋* and consecrate them, and they will serve as priests for me. ⁴² And make for them undergarments of linen to cover naked flesh; they will be from loins to thigh. ⁴³ And they will be on Aaron and on his sons when they come to the tent of assembly or when they approach the altar to serve in the sanctuary, so that they will not bear guilt and die. It is a lasting statute for him and for his offspring after him.

⁴ And you will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of assembly, and you will wash them with water.

²⁰ When they come to the tent of assembly, they will wash with water so that they do not die, or when they approach the altar to serve by turning to smoke an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

²⁷ And they made the tunics of fine linen, a weaver's work, for Aaron and for his sons, ²⁸ and the turban of fine linen and the headdresses of the headbands of fine linen and undergarments of the linen cloth, finely twisted, ²⁹ and the sash of finely twisted linen and blue and purple and crimson yarns, the work of an embroiderer, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

¹² And you will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of assembly, and you will wash them with the water.

³¹ And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet from it. ³² At their going into the tent of assembly and at their approaching the altar, they washed, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

¹⁰ And the priest shall put on his linen robe, and he must put his linen undergarments on his body, and he shall take away the fatty ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar, and he shall place them* beside the altar.

⁶ So* Moses brought Aaron and his sons near, and he washed them with water. ⁷ Then* he put the tunic on him and tied* the sash around him; then* he clothed him with the robe and put* the ephod on him; then* he tied the ephod's waistband around him and fastened* the ephod* to him with it.

²⁴ And he shall wash his body with water in a holy place, and he shall put on his garments and go out and _⌊sacrifice_⌋* his burnt offering and the people's burnt offering, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for people.

² For* he went* up like a shoot before him, and like a root from dry ground. He had no form and no majesty that* we should see him, and no appearance that* we should take pleasure in him.

¹⁷ _⌊And then_⌋* _⌊when they come_⌋* to the gates of the inner courtyards, they shall put on their* inner linen garments and not wear wool garments _⌊when they serve_⌋* in the gates of the inner courtyard and _⌊inside_⌋* the temple. ¹⁸ Linen turbans shall be on their head and linen undergarments shall be on their waists; they shall not gird themselves with material causing perspiration.

³⁵ And the angel answered and* said to her,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the one to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.

⁷ but emptied himself by* taking the form of a slave, by* becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man,

¹⁴ Therefore, since the children share in blood and flesh, he also in like manner shared in these same things, in order that through death he could destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

²⁶ For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted above the heavens,

²² let us approach with a true heart in the full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood ⁶ and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. Amen.

¹³ " 'If* Israel's whole assembly did wrong unintentionally and the matter* was concealed from the assembly's eyes, and they acted* against _⌊any of_⌋* Yahweh's commands that should not be _⌊violated_⌋,* so that* they incur guilt, ¹⁴ when* the sin that they have _⌊committed_⌋* against that command* becomes known, the assembly* shall present _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering, and they shall bring it before the tent of assembly. ¹⁵ And the elders of the community shall place their hands on the bull's head before Yahweh, and he* shall slaughter the bull before Yahweh. ¹⁶ Then the anointed priest shall bring _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood to the tent of assembly, ¹⁷ and the priest shall dip his finger in* the blood and shall spatter it seven times before Yahweh in front of the curtain. ¹⁸ He must put* _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on the altar's horns before Yahweh _⌊in the tent of assembly_⌋,* and all the rest* of the blood he must pour out on the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the tent of assembly's entrance. ¹⁹ He must remove* all its fat from it, and he shall turn it into smoke on the altar. ²⁰ He shall do* to the bull _⌊just as_⌋* he did to the sin offering's bull, so he must do to it. The priest* shall make atonement for them, and _⌊they will be forgiven_⌋.* ²¹ He shall bring* the rest of* the bull _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and he shall burn it _⌊just as_⌋* he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering for the assembly.

² "Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of the unleavened bread,

⁸ Then* Aaron approached* the altar, and he slaughtered the bull calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. ⁹ Then* Aaron's sons presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood, and he put it on the altar's horns, and he poured out the blood on the altar's base. ¹⁰ And the fat and the kidneys and the lobe _⌊from the sin offering's liver_⌋* he turned into smoke on the altar, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses, ¹¹ but* the meat and the skin he burned _⌊with fire_⌋* _⌊outside the camp_⌋.* ¹² Then* he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron's sons brought the blood to him, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around; ¹³ and they brought the burnt offering to him by its pieces, as well as* the head, and he turned them into smoke on the altar; ¹⁴ and he washed the inner parts* and the lower leg bones, then* he turned them into smoke upon the burnt offering on the altar. ¹⁵ Then* he presented the people's offering, and he took the goat of the sin offering, which was for the people, and he slaughtered it and offered* it as a sin offering like the first one. ¹⁶ Then* he presented the burnt offering, and he _⌊sacrificed_⌋* it according to the regulation.

¹¹ one male goat for a sin offering, in addition to the sin offering of atonement and the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, and their libations.

²¹ And they brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a purification offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the descendants* of Aaron, the priests, to offer them on the altar of Yahweh.

¹⁷ And they offered during the dedication of this house of God one hundred young bulls, two hundred young rams, four hundred lambs, and twelve male goats as a sin offering for Israel according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

²² And the prince shall provide on that day for himself* and for all of the people of the land a bull as a sin offering. ²³ And during the seven days of the religious feast he shall provide as a burnt offering to Yahweh seven bulls and seven rams without defect for each of the seven days, and as a sin offering a he-goat for each day.

³ For what was impossible for the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did. By* sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

²⁷ who does not _⌊need every day_⌋* like the former high priests to offer up sacrifices for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he* offered up himself. ²⁸ For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the statement of the oath, after the law, appoints a Son, who is made perfect _⌊forever_⌋*.

⁵ Therefore, when he* came into the world, he said,
"Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ you did not delight in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sins. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come— in the roll of the book it is written about me— to do your will, O God.' ⁸ When he says above,
"Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin you did not want, nor did you delight in,"*
which are offered according to the law, ⁹ then he has said,
"Behold, I have come to do your will."*
He takes away the first in order to establish the second, ¹⁰ by which will we are made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands every day serving and offering the same sacrifices many times, which are never able to take away sins. ¹² But this one, after he* had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, ¹³ from now on waiting until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet. ¹⁴ For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy.

¹⁴ Then* he brought forth the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the head of the bull of the sin offering, ¹⁵ and he slaughtered it, and Moses took the blood and put* it with his finger on the altar's horns all around and purified the altar; then* he poured the blood out on the altar's base—thus* he consecrated it in order to make atonement for it.* ¹⁶ Then* he took all the fat that was on the inner parts* and the lobe on the liver and the two kidneys and their fat, and Moses turned them into smoke on the altar, ¹⁷ but* he burned the bull and its skin and its meat and its offal in the fire _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

⁷ Then* Moses said to Aaron, "Approach* the altar and _⌊sacrifice_⌋* your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. And _⌊sacrifice_⌋* the people's offering and make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded."

¹⁸ There was found from the sons of the priests those who had married foreign women, from the sons of Jeshua son of Jehozadak and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib, and Gedaliah. ¹⁹ _⌊They pledged themselves_⌋* to put away their wives, and their guilt offering was a ram of the flock for their guilt.

⁵ _⌊Then when_⌋* the days of the feast had run their course, _⌊Job would send_⌋,* and he would sanctify them. Thus* he would arise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of all of them, because Job thought,* "Perhaps my children have sinned and _⌊cursed_⌋* God in their heart." This is what Job used to do _⌊all the time_⌋.*

¹⁹ And you must give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok, the ones coming near me," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "to serve me, a bull, _⌊a calf_⌋* as a sin offering.

²⁷ And they will finish the days, _⌊and then_⌋* on the eighth day and beyond that the priests will offer on the altar your burnt offerings and your fellowship offerings, and then I will be pleased with you," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

² being able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and led astray, since he himself also is surrounded by weakness, ³ and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins _⌊for himself also, as well as for the people_⌋*.

²⁷ who does not _⌊need every day_⌋* like the former high priests to offer up sacrifices for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he* offered up himself.

⁴ He shall bring* the bull to the tent of assembly's entrance before Yahweh, place* his hand on the bull's head, and slaughter the bull before Yahweh.

⁶ And at the fulfilling of the days of her cleansing, whether for a son or for a daughter, she must bring to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance a _⌊yearling_⌋* male lamb as a burnt offering and _⌊young dove_⌋* or a turtledove as a sin offering. ⁷ And the priest shall present it _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for her, so that* she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the regulation of childbearing* for the male* or for the female.*

²¹ From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

¹ Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

⁵⁵ Surely the land will be divided by lot. They will inherit according to the names of the tribes of their ancestors.*

⁵⁴ You will distribute the land by lot according to your clans; to the larger group you will give a larger inheritance, and to the smaller group you will give less inheritance. However the lot falls for him, there the lot will be. You will distribute it according to the tribes of your ancestors.*

¹⁰ and Joshua cast a lot for them at Shiloh before* Yahweh, and there he divided the land for the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* _⌊to each a portion_⌋.* ¹¹ And the allotment of the tribe of Benjamin came up according to their families, and the border of their allotment fell* between the descendants* of Judah and the descendants* of Joseph.

⁴¹ Then Saul said to Yahweh the God of Israel, "_⌊Render a decision perfectly_⌋."* Jonathan and Saul were chosen by lot and the people went out. ⁴² Then Saul said, "Let them cast the lot between me and my son Jonathan," and Jonathan was chosen.

³³ The lot will be cast into the lap, but all of its decisions are from Yahweh.

²⁹ This is the land that you shall allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

⁷ And they said _⌊to one another_⌋,* "Come, let us cast lots so that we may know on whose account this disaster has come on us!" And they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.

²³ And they proposed two men, Joseph called Barsabbas (who was called Justus) and Matthias. ²⁴ And they prayed and* said, "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show clearly which one of these two you have chosen ²⁵ to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to depart to his own place." ²⁶ And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was added to serve* with the eleven apostles.

²³ this man, delivered up by the determined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by* nailing to a cross* through the hand of lawless men.

²⁷ For in truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, assembled together in this city against your holy servant Jesus whom you anointed, ²⁸ to do all that your hand and plan* had predestined to take place.

⁷ And he shall spatter the blood* seven times on the one who presents himself for cleansing from the infectious skin disease, and he shall declare him clean, and he shall send the living bird _⌊into the open field_⌋.*

²¹ And Aaron shall place his two hands on the living goat's head, and he shall confess over it all the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* iniquities and all their transgressions for all their sins, and he shall put them on the goat's head, and he shall send it* away into the desert _⌊with_⌋* a man standing ready.* ²² Thus* the goat shall bear on it to _⌊a barren region_⌋* all their guilt, and he shall send the goat away into the desert.

⁴ However, he was the one who lifted up our sicknesses, and he carried our pain, yet* we ourselves assumed him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. ⁵ But* he was pierced* because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for* our peace* was upon him, and by his wounds* _⌊we were healed_⌋.* ⁶ All of us have wandered about like sheep; we each have turned to his own way; and Yahweh let fall on him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed and afflicted, yet* he did not open his mouth; he was brought like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a sheep is dumb before its shearers, so* he did not open his mouth. ⁸ He was taken by restraint of justice, and who concerned himself with his generation? For he was cut off from the land of the living; he received a blow because of the transgression of my people. ⁹ He made* his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. ¹⁰ Yet* Yahweh was pleased to crush him; he _⌊made him sick_⌋.* If she* places* his life a guilt offering,* he will see offspring. He will prolong days, and the will of Yahweh will succeed in his hand. ¹¹ From the trouble of his life* he will see;* he will be satisfied. In his knowledge, the righteous one, my servant, shall declare many righteous,* and he is the one who will bear their iniquities.

²⁵ whom God made publicly available as the mercy seat* through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because of the passing over of previously committed sins,

²⁵ who was handed over on account of our trespasses, and was raised up in the interest of our justification.*

²¹ He made the one who did not know sin to be sin on our behalf, in order that we could become the righteousness of God in him.

²⁶ For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted above the heavens, ²⁷ who does not _⌊need every day_⌋* like the former high priests to offer up sacrifices for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he* offered up himself.

²³ Therefore it was necessary for the sketches of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf,

² and he* is the propitiation* for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁶ We have come to know love by this: that _⌊he_⌋* laid down his life on behalf of us, and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers.

³ "Aaron must enter the sanctuary with this: _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering.

⁶ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family.

³⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Take for yourself fragrant perfumes—stacte resin and onycha and galbanum—fragrant perfumes and pure frankincense, _⌊an equal part of each_⌋,* ³⁵ and make it into a compound of incense, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, holy. ³⁶ And you will grind part of it to powder, and you will put part of it before the testimony in the tent of assembly where I will meet with you; it will be a most holy thing to you. ³⁷ And the incense that you will make with its measurements* you will not make for yourselves; it will be holy to you for Yahweh. ³⁸ Anyone who makes any like it to smell it will be cut off from his people."

¹¹ and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. According to all that I have commanded you, they will make it.

²⁹ And he made the holy anointing oil and the pure fragrant incense—work of a perfumer.

¹ And Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, and they put fire in them and placed incense on it;* then* they presented _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh illegitimate fire, which he had not commanded them.

¹⁸ So each of them took his censer, and they put fire on them, and they placed incense on them; they stood at the doorway of the tent of the assembly of Moses and Aaron.

⁴⁶ And Moses and Aaron said, "Take the censer, and put fire on it from the altar. Place incense on it, and bring it quickly to the community, and make atonement for them, because wrath went out from the presence of Yahweh, and a plague has begun."

⁶ Then one of the seraphs flew to me, and in his hand was a hot coal he had taken from the altar with tongs. ⁷ And he touched my mouth, and he said,
"Look! This has touched your lips and has removed your guilt, and your sin is annulled."

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?

⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

³ And another angel who had a golden censer came and stood at the altar, and a large amount of incense was given to him, in order that he could offer the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that is before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense went up before God with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel.

²¹ And you will put the atonement cover above onto the ark, and into the ark you will put the testimony that I will give you.

⁴³ And they will be on Aaron and on his sons when they come to the tent of assembly or when they approach the altar to serve in the sanctuary, so that they will not bear guilt and die. It is a lasting statute for him and for his offspring after him.

¹ "And you will make an altar for burning incense; you will make it of acacia wood,

⁷ "And on it Aaron will turn fragrant incense into smoke; _⌊each morning_⌋* when he tends the lamps, he will turn it into smoke. ⁸ And when Aaron sets up the lamps _⌊at twilight_⌋,* he will turn it into smoke—incense of continuity—before Yahweh throughout your generations.

⁹ " 'And they shall keep my obligation, and they shall not incur guilt because of it, so that* they die through it, because they have profaned it; I am Yahweh who consecrates them.

⁷ tomorrow put fire in them and place incense on them _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh; the man whom Yahweh chooses will be the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, sons of Levi!"

²⁵ Therefore also he is able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, because he* always lives in order to intercede on their behalf.

²⁴ For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf,

¹ My little children, I am writing these things to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one, ² and he* is the propitiation* for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

⁵ The anointed priest* shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and shall bring it to the tent of assembly, ⁶ and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the blood seven times before Yahweh in front of the sanctuary's curtain.

¹⁷ and the priest shall dip his finger in* the blood and shall spatter it seven times before Yahweh in front of the curtain.

¹¹ And he spattered _⌊part of_⌋* it on the altar seven times—thus* he anointed the altar and all of its utensils, and the basin and its stand, to consecrate them.

²⁴ being justified as a gift by his grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God made publicly available as the mercy seat* through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because of the passing over of previously committed sins, ²⁶ in the forbearance of God, for the demonstration of his righteousness in the present time, so that he should be just and the one who justifies the person by faith* in Jesus.

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled sanctify them for the ritual purity of the flesh,

⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

¹⁰ by which will we are made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands every day serving and offering the same sacrifices many times, which are never able to take away sins. ¹² But this one, after he* had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers, since we* have confidence for the entrance into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,

²⁴ and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and _⌊to the sprinkled blood_⌋* that speaks better than Abel's does.

² And Yahweh said to Moses, "Tell* your brother Aaron that he should not enter at any time into the sanctuary _⌊behind_⌋* the curtain _⌊in front of_⌋* the atonement cover that is on the ark, so that he might not die, because I appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.

⁵ And he must take from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* community two he-goats as a sin offering and one ram as a burnt offering. ⁶ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family. ⁷ And he shall take the two goats, and he shall present them _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh at the tent of assembly's entrance. ⁸ Then* Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for Yahweh and one for Azazel. ⁹ And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot for Yahweh fell, and he shall _⌊sacrifice_⌋* it as a sin offering.

¹⁷ Therefore he was obligated to be made like his brothers in all respects, in order that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in the things relating to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.

³ and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins _⌊for himself also, as well as for the people_⌋*.

¹⁹ which we have like an anchor of the soul, both firm and steadfast, and entering into the inside of the curtain,

²⁵ and not in order that he can offer himself many times, as the high priest enters into the sanctuary _⌊year by year_⌋* with blood not his own, ²⁶ since it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times from the foundation of the world, but now he has appeared once at the end of the ages for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of himself.

³⁶ "And you will offer a bull for a sin offering every day for the atonement; and you will offer a sin offering on the altar* when you make atonement for it, and you will anoint it to consecrate it. ³⁷ Seven days you will make atonement for the altar, and you will consecrate it, and the altar will be _⌊a most holy thing_⌋.* _⌊Anyone who_⌋* touches the altar will be holy.

¹⁵ and he slaughtered it, and Moses took the blood and put* it with his finger on the altar's horns all around and purified the altar; then* he poured the blood out on the altar's base—thus* he consecrated it in order to make atonement for it.*

¹⁸ "Then* he shall go out to the altar that is _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for it; and he shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and _⌊some of_⌋* the goat's blood, and he shall put it* all around on the altar's horns.

¹⁸ Thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'On the first month on the first day of the month, you shall take a bull, _⌊a calf_⌋* without defect, and you shall purify the sanctuary. ¹⁹ And the priest shall take from the blood of the sin offering, and he shall put it on the doorframe of the temple* and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the doorframe of the gate of the inner courtyard.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, so that where I am, you may be also.

²² Indeed, nearly everything is purified with blood according to the law, and apart from the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. ²³ Therefore it was necessary for the sketches of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these.

³ And no one will go up with you, and neither let anyone be seen on all the mountain, nor let the sheep and goats and the cattle graze _⌊opposite_⌋* that mountain."

¹⁰ But* he must present alive _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh the goat on which the lot for Azazel fell to make atonement for himself, to send it away into the desert to Azazel. ¹¹ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family; then* he shall slaughter the sin offering's bull, which is for himself.

⁶ All of us have wandered about like sheep; we each have turned to his own way; and Yahweh let fall on him the iniquity of us all.

²⁴ "Seventy weeks is decreed for your people and _⌊for your holy city_⌋,* to put an end to the transgression and to seal up sin* and to make atonement for guilt and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal vision and prophet and to anoint _⌊the most holy place_⌋.*

¹⁰ And the whole crowd of the people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering.

¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."

⁵ For there is one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus,

³ who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all things by the word of power.* When he* had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we may die to sins and live to righteousness, by whose wounds you were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,

⁷ The priest* shall put _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before Yahweh, which is in the tent of assembly, and all the rest* of the bull's blood he must pour out on the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of assembly.

¹⁸ He must put* _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on the altar's horns before Yahweh _⌊in the tent of assembly_⌋,* and all the rest* of the blood he must pour out on the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the tent of assembly's entrance.

²⁵ The priest* shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the sin offering's blood with his finger, and he shall put it on the horns of the altar of the burnt offering, and he must pour out the rest of* its blood on the base of the altar of the burnt offering.

¹⁶ Thus* he shall make atonement for the sanctuary from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities and from their transgressions for all their sins; and so he must do for the tent of assembly, which dwells with them in the midst of their impurities.

¹⁹ And for them I sanctify myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in the truth.

¹¹ For both the one who sanctifies and the ones who are sanctified are all from one, for which reason he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

⁷ who in the days of his flesh offered up both prayers and supplications, with loud crying and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard as a result of his reverence. ⁸ Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered,

¹⁸ And he said to me, "Son of man,* thus says the Lord Yahweh: 'These are the statutes of the altar on the day _⌊when it is made_⌋,* to sacrifice a burnt offering on it and to sprinkle blood on it. ¹⁹ And you must give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok, the ones coming near me," _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "to serve me, a bull, _⌊a calf_⌋* as a sin offering. ²⁰ You must take some of its blood and put it on _⌊the four horns of the altar_⌋,* and the four corners of the ledge, and on the rim all around; thus you must purify it and make atonement for it. ²¹ And you must take the bull, the sin offering, and you must burn it in the designated place of the temple outside of the holy place. ²² And on the second day you must offer a he-goat without defect as a sin offering, and they must purify the altar _⌊like_⌋* they purified with the bull.

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, _⌊to cleanse them from sin and from impurity_⌋.*

³⁰ But* any sin offering from which _⌊some of_⌋* its blood is brought to the tent of assembly to make atonement in the sanctuary must not be eaten; it must be burned in the fire.'"

²⁰ And so you shall do on the seventh day in the month for anyone doing wrong inadvertently or due to ignorance, and so you must make atonement for the temple.*

³⁴ Who is the one who condemns? Christ* is the one who died, and more than that, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

¹⁹ namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

²⁰ and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by* making peace through the blood of his cross, through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

¹⁸ and the one who lives, and I was dead, and behold, I am living _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.

¹⁰ "And you will bring the bull before the tent of assembly, and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the bull.

⁴ " 'He* must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering and it will be accepted* for him in order to make atonement for him.

⁵ When he becomes guilty _⌊in any of_⌋* these, he shall confess* what he has sinned _⌊regarding_⌋* it,

⁴⁰ " 'But* when they confess their guilt and the guilt of their ancestors* in their infidelity that they displayed against me, and moreover that they went against me in hostility—

¹ While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself down before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children from Israel gathered to him. And the people wept bitterly.

⁶ Please, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I am praying before you by day and by night for your servants, the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and confessing the sins of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* that we have sinned against you. I and my father's house have sinned. ⁷ We have certainly offended you and have not kept the commands, regulations, and judgments that you have commanded your servant Moses.

³ They stood up in their place and read from the book of the law* of Yahweh their God for a fourth part of the day, and for a fourth they were confessing and worshiping Yahweh their God. ⁴ Then Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani stood on the platform of the Levites and cried out with a loud voice to Yahweh their God. ⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, "Stand up, bless Yahweh your God from everlasting until everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name that is being exalted above all blessing and praise!

⁵ I made known my sin to you, and my iniquity I did not cover. I said, "I will confess concerning my transgressions to Yahweh," and you took away the guilt of my sin. Selah

³ For _⌊I myself know_⌋* my transgressions,* and my sin is ever before me.

¹³ He who conceals his transgression will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes will obtain mercy.

³ Then I turned my face to the Lord God to seek him by prayer and pleas for mercy,* in fasting and in sackcloth and ashes. ⁴ And I prayed to Yahweh my God, and I made confession and I said, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, keeping the covenant and loyal love with those who love him and with those who keep his commandments, ⁵ we have sinned and we have done wrong and we acted wickedly and we rebelled and have been turning aside from your commandments and from your ordinances. ⁶ We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors* and to all the people of the land. ⁷ "_⌊Righteousness belongs to you, O Lord_⌋,* and on us is open shame, just as it is this day to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to all Israel, _⌊those who are near and those who are far off_⌋* in all the lands to which you have driven them,* because of their infidelity which they displayed against you. ⁸ Yahweh, on us is open shame, on our kings, on our princes, and on our ancestors,* because we have sinned against you. ⁹ _⌊Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord, our God_⌋,* for we have rebelled against him, ¹⁰ and we have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God, by following his law _⌊which he placed before us_⌋* by the hand of his servants the prophets. ¹¹ "And all Israel transgressed your law and turned aside so as not to listen to your voice, and so the curse and the oath which was written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, has been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him. ¹² And so he has carried out his words which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring upon us a great calamity which was not done under all of heaven as it was done in Jerusalem. ¹³ Just as it is written in the law of Moses, all of this calamity has come upon us, and _⌊we have not implored_⌋* the face of Yahweh our God so as to turn from our iniquities and to attend closely to your faithfulness.* ¹⁴ So Yahweh has kept watch over the* calamity, and now he has brought it upon us. Indeed, Yahweh our God is righteous concerning all his works* that he has done, but we have not listened to his voice. ¹⁵ "And now, Lord our God, who have brought your people out from the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and you have made for yourself a name until this day—we have sinned, we have acted wickedly. ¹⁶ Lord, according to all your righteousness, please let your anger and your rage turn away from your city Jerusalem, _⌊your holy mountain_⌋,* because through our sins and through the iniquities of our ancestors* Jerusalem and your people have become an object of mockery among all of our neighbors. ¹⁷ "And now, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy. Shine* your face upon your desolate sanctuary _⌊for your sake, O Lord_⌋.* ¹⁸ Incline your ear, my God, and listen; open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that is called by your name, for we are not presenting our pleas for mercy _⌊before you_⌋* because of our righteousness, but rather because of your great compassion. ¹⁹ Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, pay heed and act! You must not delay _⌊for your sake_⌋,* my God; because _⌊your city and your people are called by your name_⌋."* ²⁰ Now I was still speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh my God, on behalf _⌊of the holy mountain of my God_⌋.*

¹⁰ For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.

¹⁰ He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us according to our iniquities.

¹² As far as east is from west, so he has removed far from us the guilt of our transgressions.

¹¹ From the trouble of his life* he will see;* he will be satisfied. In his knowledge, the righteous one, my servant, shall declare many righteous,* and he is the one who will bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore, I will divide to him a portion among the many,* and with the strong ones he will divide bounty, _⌊because_⌋* he poured his life out to death and was counted with the transgressors; and* he was the one who bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.

²² All of his transgressions that he committed will not be remembered against* him. Through* his righteousness that he has done he shall live.

¹⁹ _⌊He will again have compassion_⌋* on us; he will trample our iniquities. And you will hurl all their sins in the depths of the sea.

²⁹ On the next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by* becoming a curse for us, because it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"*

²⁸ thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

⁴ He must put on _⌊a holy linen tunic_⌋,* and linen undergarments must be on his body, and he must fasten himself* with a linen sash, and he must wrap a linen turban around his head*—they are holy garments, and he shall wash his body with water, then* he shall put them on.

¹⁴ _⌊When the priests enter_⌋,* then they shall not go out from the sanctuary to the outer courtyard; and there they must put* their garments in which they serve because they are holy. They must put on other garments and then they may approach the area that is for the people.

¹⁹ When they go out to the outer courtyard to the people, they must take off their garment in which they were serving, and they must place them _⌊in the holy chambers_⌋,* and they must put on other garments, so that they will not make the people holy with their garments.

⁶ who, existing in the form of God, did not consider being equal with God something to be grasped, ⁷ but emptied himself by* taking the form of a slave, by* becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man, ⁸ he humbled himself by* becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross. ⁹ Therefore also God exalted him and graciously granted him the name above every name, ¹⁰ so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁴ And these are the garments that they will make: A breast piece and an ephod and a robe and a tunic of specially woven fabric,* a turban and a sash. And they will make holy garments* for Aaron your brother, and for his sons to serve as priests for me. ⁵ "And they will take the gold and the blue and the purple and the crimson yarns and the fine linen, ⁶ and they will make the ephod of gold, blue and purple, and crimson yarns, and finely twisted linen, the work of a skilled craftsman. ⁷ It will have two joining shoulder pieces at its two edges, so that it can be fastened. ⁸ And the waistband of his ephod, which is on it, will be of like work to it—gold, blue, and purple and crimson yarns and finely twisted linen. ⁹ "And you will take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* ¹⁰ with six of their names on the one stone and the remaining six on the second, according to their genealogies.* ¹¹ As the work of a skilled stone craftsman, with seal engravings you will engrave on the two stones the names of the _⌊Israelites_⌋;* you will make them mounted in gold filigree settings. ¹² And you will set the two stones on the ephod's shoulder pieces as stones of remembrance for the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and Aaron will bear their names before Yahweh on his two shoulder pieces for remembrance. ¹³ "And you will make gold filigree settings. ¹⁴ And you will make two braided chains of pure gold ornamental cord work, and you will put the chains of the ornamental cords on the filigree settings.

⁴ And you will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of assembly, and you will wash them with water. ⁵ And you will take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic and the robe of the ephod, and you will fasten to him the ephod and the breast piece with the waistband of the ephod.

⁶ So* Moses brought Aaron and his sons near, and he washed them with water. ⁷ Then* he put the tunic on him and tied* the sash around him; then* he clothed him with the robe and put* the ephod on him; then* he tied the ephod's waistband around him and fastened* the ephod* to him with it. ⁸ Then* he placed the breastpiece on him and put* the Urim and the Thummim into the breastpiece; ⁹ and he placed the turban on his head, and on _⌊the front of_⌋* the turban he placed the gold rosette, the holy diadem, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

⁹ _⌊And then_⌋* on the seventh day he must shave off all his hair—he must shave his head and his beard and _⌊his eyebrows_⌋* and all the rest* of his hair—and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body in the water; thus* he shall be clean.

³ "Aaron must enter the sanctuary with this: _⌊a young bull_⌋* as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering. ⁴ He must put on _⌊a holy linen tunic_⌋,* and linen undergarments must be on his body, and he must fasten himself* with a linen sash, and he must wrap a linen turban around his head*—they are holy garments, and he shall wash his body with water, then* he shall put them on. ⁵ And he must take from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* community two he-goats as a sin offering and one ram as a burnt offering.

⁶ a person who touches such a thing* shall be unclean until the evening, and he shall not eat from the votive offerings, except* when he washes* his body with water

¹⁰ concerning instead only food and drink and different washings, regulations of outward things imposed until the time of setting things right.

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers, since we* have confidence for the entrance into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by the new and living way which he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, his flesh, ²¹ and since we have* a great priest over the house of God, ²² let us approach with a true heart in the full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

¹³ And you will take and turn into smoke on the altar all the fat covering the inner parts and the lobe on the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them.

⁸ " 'He must remove* all the fat from the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the inner parts* and all of the fat that is on the inner parts,* ⁹ the two* kidneys and the fat that is on them, and the liver's lobe that he must remove in addition to the kidneys— ¹⁰ just as it is removed from the ox of the fellowship offerings' sacrifice—and the priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar of the burnt offering.

¹⁹ He must remove* all its fat from it, and he shall turn it into smoke on the altar.

²⁵ and anyone who carries their dead body must wash his garments, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

⁸ Then* the one who presents himself for cleansing shall wash his garments, and he shall shave off all his hair, and he shall wash himself in the water; thus* he shall be clean, and afterward he shall enter the camp, but* he shall stay _⌊outside his tent_⌋* for seven days.

⁵ And anyone who touches his bed must wash his garments and shall wash* himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until evening. ⁶ And the person who sits on the object upon which the person who discharges has sat must wash his garments, and he shall wash* himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening. ⁷ And the person who touches the body of the person who discharges must wash his garments, and he shall wash* himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening. ⁸ And if the person who discharges spits on one who is* clean, then* that one* shall wash is garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening. ⁹ And any saddle upon which the person who discharges rides becomes unclean. ¹⁰ And any person who touches anything that happened to be under him becomes unclean until the evening, and the person who carries them must wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening. ¹¹ And anyone whom the person who discharges might touch _⌊without_⌋* rinsing off his hands with water shall wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

²⁷ And any person who touches them becomes unclean, and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash himself* with water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.

¹⁰ But* he must present alive _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh the goat on which the lot for Azazel fell to make atonement for himself, to send it away into the desert to Azazel.

²⁸ And the person who burns them shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body with water, and _⌊afterward_⌋* he must come to the camp.

⁷ The priest will wash his garments and his body in the water, and afterward he will come to the camp; the priest will be unclean until the evening. ⁸ The one who burns it will wash his garments and his body in water; he will be unclean until the evening.

²¹ " 'It will be an eternal decree for them. The one who spatters the waters of impurity will wash his garments, and the one who touches the waters of impurity will be unclean until the evening.

¹⁹ (for the law made nothing perfect), but on the other hand there is the introduction of a better hope through which we draw near to God.

¹¹ But* the bull's skin and its meat, in addition to its head, _⌊its lower leg bones_⌋,* its* inner parts,* and its offal— ¹² he shall carry* all of the bull _⌊outside the camp_⌋* to a ceremonially clean place, to the fatty ashes' dump, and he shall burn it on wood in the fire; it must be burned up on the fatty ashes' dump.

²¹ He shall bring* the rest of* the bull _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and he shall burn it _⌊just as_⌋* he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering for the assembly.

¹⁷ but* he burned the bull and its skin and its meat and its offal in the fire _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

³¹ And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the military cloak and put his own clothes on him, and led him away in order to crucify him.* ³² And as they* were going out, they found a man of Cyrene _⌊named_⌋* Simon. They forced this man to carry his cross. ³³ And when they* came to a place called Golgotha (which _⌊means Place of a Skull_⌋),*

¹¹ For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sins are burned up outside the camp. ¹² Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, in order that he might sanctify the people by his own blood. ¹³ So we must go out to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. ¹⁴ For here we do not have a permanent city, but we seek the city that is to come.

¹⁶ It will be for you on the first day a holy assembly* and on the seventh day a holy assembly;* no work will be done on them; only what is eaten by every person, it alone will be prepared for you.

¹⁰ But the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God; you will not do any work—you or your son or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your animal, or your alien who is in your gates—

³ " 'For six days work is to be done, and on the seventh day shall be _⌊a Sabbath of complete rest_⌋,* a holy assembly; you shall not do any work; it shall be a Sabbath for Yahweh in all your dwellings.

⁷ On the first day there shall be a holy assembly for you; you shall not do _⌊any regular work_⌋.* ⁸ And you shall present an offering for Yahweh made by fire for seven days; on the seventh day there shall be a holy assembly; you shall not do _⌊any regular work_⌋.'"*

²¹ And _⌊you shall make a proclamation_⌋* on _⌊this very same day_⌋;* it shall be a holy assembly for you; you shall not do _⌊any regular work_⌋;* this is a _⌊lasting statute_⌋* in all your dwellings throughout* your generations.

²⁷ "Surely the Day of Atonement is on the tenth day of the seventh month; it shall be a holy assembly for you, and you shall deny yourselves, and you shall present an offering made by fire to Yahweh. ²⁸ And you must not do _⌊any regular work_⌋* on _⌊this very same day_⌋,* because it is the Day of Atonement to make atonement for you _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God. ²⁹ If there is any person who does not deny himself on _⌊this very same day_⌋,* then* he shall be cut off from his people. ³⁰ As for* any person who does any work on _⌊this very same day_⌋,* I will exterminate that person from the midst of his people. ³¹ You must not do any work; it is a _⌊lasting statute_⌋* throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ³² It is _⌊a Sabbath of complete rest_⌋* for you, and you shall deny yourselves on the ninth day of the month in the evening—from evening to evening you must observe your extraordinary* Sabbath."

³⁶ For seven days you must present an offering made by fire to Yahweh. On the eighth day it shall be a holy assembly for you, and you shall present an offering made by fire to Yahweh; it is a celebration; you must not do _⌊any regular work_⌋.*

⁷ " 'And on the tenth of this seventh month you will have a holy convocation, and _⌊you will afflict yourselves_⌋;* you will not do any work.

² All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon at the festival in the month of Ethnaim, that is, the seventh month.

¹ Now the seventh month drew near and the _⌊Israelites_⌋* were in the cities, so the people gathered as _⌊one_⌋* in Jerusalem.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I weakened my soul with fasting, and my prayer _⌊returned to me unanswered_⌋.*

¹⁰ When I wept in the fasting of my soul, it became reproaches for me.

³ 'Why do we fast, and you do not see it? We humiliate our soul, and you do not notice it?' Look! You find delight on the day of your fast, and you oppress all your workers!

⁵ Is the fast I choose like this, a day for humankind to humiliate _⌊himself_⌋*? To bow his head like a reed, and _⌊make_⌋* his bed on sackcloth and ashes; you call this a fast and a day of pleasure to Yahweh?

¹³ If you hold your foot back from the Sabbath, from doing your affairs on _⌊my holy day_⌋,* if* you call the Sabbath a pleasure, the holy day of Yahweh honorable, if* you honor him _⌊more than_⌋* doing your ways, than finding your affairs* and speaking a word,

³ I had not eaten any choice food, and meat and wine did not enter my mouth, and _⌊I did not use any ointment_⌋* _⌊until the end of three whole weeks_⌋.*

¹² And he said to me, "You must not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself _⌊before_⌋* your God, your words were heard, and I myself* have come because of your words.

³¹ But if we were evaluating ourselves, we would not be judged.

¹⁰ For grief according to the will of God brings about a repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but worldly grief brings about death. ¹¹ For behold how much diligence this very thing, being grieved according to the will of God, has brought about in you: what defense of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! In everything you have demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

¹⁰ For the one who has entered into his rest has also himself rested from his works, just as God did from his own works.

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and from my sin cleanse me.

⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

¹⁰ Create a clean heart for me, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit _⌊within me_⌋.*

⁸ And I will cleanse them from all their guilt that they sinned against me, and I will forgive all their iniquities that they sinned against me, and that they rebelled against me.

²⁵ And I will sprinkle on you pure water, and you will be clean from all of your uncleanness, and I will cleanse you from all of your idols. ²⁶ And I will give a new heart to you, and a new spirit I will give* into your inner parts, and I will remove the* heart of stone from your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will give* my spirit into your inner parts, and I will make it so that you will go* in my rules, and my regulations you will remember, and you will do them.

²⁶ in order that he might sanctify her by cleansing her* with the washing of water by the word;

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled sanctify them for the ritual purity of the flesh, ¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?

¹ For the law, possessing a shadow of the good things that are about to come, not the form of things itself, is never able _⌊year by year_⌋* by means of the same sacrifices which they offer without interruption to make perfect those who draw near. ² For otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the ones who worship, having been purified once and for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?

⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say that we do not have sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our* sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹⁵ On six days work can be done, and on the seventh _⌊is a Sabbath of complete rest_⌋,* _⌊a holy day_⌋* for Yahweh; anyone doing work on the Sabbath day will surely be put to death.

⁴ But* in the seventh year it shall be _⌊a Sabbath of complete rest_⌋* for the land—a Sabbath for Yahweh; you* must not sow your field, and you must not prune your vineyard.

⁹ And you will gird Aaron and his sons with sashes and wrap headdresses on them. And priesthood will be theirs as a lasting rule, and _⌊you will ordain Aaron and his sons._⌋*

²⁹ "And the holy garments that are for Aaron will be for his sons after him in which to anoint them and _⌊to ordain them_⌋.* ³⁰ Seven days the priest who replaces him from among his sons will wear them, who comes to the tent of assembly to serve in the sanctuary.

⁵ The anointed priest* shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and shall bring it to the tent of assembly,

¹⁶ Then the anointed priest shall bring _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood to the tent of assembly,

²⁶ Strip off Aaron's garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; Aaron will be gathered to his people, and he will die there." ²⁷ So Moses did just as Yahweh commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor before the eyes of all the community. ²⁸ And Moses stripped off Aaron's garments and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain; and Moses and Eleazar went down from the mountain.

²⁵ And if you make an altar of stones for me, you will not build them as hewn stone, because if you use your chisel on it, you have defiled it. ²⁶ You will not go up with steps onto my altar, that your nakedness not be exposed on it.'

¹¹ "And Aaron shall present the sin offering's bull, which is for himself, and so he shall make atonement for himself and for his family; then* he shall slaughter the sin offering's bull, which is for himself.

¹⁸ "Then* he shall go out to the altar that is _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for it; and he shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the bull's blood and _⌊some of_⌋* the goat's blood, and he shall put it* all around on the altar's horns. ¹⁹ And he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the blood on it seven times with his finger, and he shall cleanse it and consecrate* it from the _⌊Israelites_⌋'* impurities.

³¹ You must not do any work; it is a _⌊lasting statute_⌋* throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

³ But in them there is a reminder of sins _⌊year by year_⌋*.

¹⁴ For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy.
