¹ Now it happened that in those days a decree went out from Caesar* Augustus to register all the empire. ² (This first registration took place when* Quirinius was governor of Syria.) ³ And everyone went to be registered, each one to his own town. ⁴ So Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, ⁵ to be registered together with Mary, who was legally promised in marriage to him and* was pregnant. ⁶ And it happened that while they were there, _⌊the time came_⌋* for her to give birth. ⁷ And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. ⁸ And there were shepherds in the same region, living out of doors and keeping watch, guarding over their flock by night. ⁹ And an angel of the Lord stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and _⌊they were terribly frightened_⌋.* ¹⁰ And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring good news to you of great joy which will be for all the people: ¹¹ that today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. ¹² And this will be the sign for you: you will find the baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger." ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God and saying, ¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people _⌊with whom he is pleased_⌋!"* ¹⁵ And it happened that when the angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds began to say* to one another, "Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has revealed to us!" ¹⁶ And they went hurrying and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger. ¹⁷ And when they* saw it,* they made known the statement that had been told to them about this child. ¹⁸ And all who heard it* were astonished concerning what had been said to them by the shepherds. ¹⁹ But Mary treasured up all these words, pondering them* in her heart. ²⁰ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them. ²¹ And when eight days were completed _⌊so that he could be circumcised_⌋,* he was named Jesus, his name that he was called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. ²² And when the days of their purification were completed according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him* to the Lord ²³ (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord")* ²⁴ and to offer a sacrifice according to what was stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."* ²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem _⌊whose name was_⌋* Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. ²⁶ And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he would see the Lord's Christ.* ²⁷ And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus so that they could do for him according to what was customary under the law, ²⁸ he took him in his* arms and praised God and said, ²⁹ "Now dismiss your slave in peace, Lord, according to your word. ³⁰ For my eyes have seen your salvation ³¹ that you have prepared in the presence of all the peoples, ³² a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory to your people Israel." ³³ And his father and mother were astonished at what was said about him. ³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, "Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed*— ³⁵ and a sword will pierce your own soul also, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed!" ³⁶ And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Asher (she was advanced _⌊in years_⌋,* having lived with her husband seven years _⌊after her marriage_⌋,* ³⁷ and herself as a widow up to eighty-four years)* who did not depart from the temple with fastings and prayers, serving night and day. ³⁸ And at that same hour she approached and* began to give thanks* to God, and to speak about him to all those who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. ³⁹ And when they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. ⁴⁰ And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him. ⁴¹ And his parents went every year to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. ⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the feast. ⁴³ And after* the days were completed, while they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. And his parents did not know it,* ⁴⁴ but believing him to be in the group of travelers, they went a day's journey. And they began searching for* him among their* relatives and their* acquaintances, ⁴⁵ and when they* did not find him,* they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. ⁴⁶ And it happened that after three days they found him in the temple courts,* sitting in the midst of the teachers and listening to them and asking them questions. ⁴⁷ And all who heard him were amazed at his insight and his* answers. ⁴⁸ And when they* saw him, they were astounded and his mother said to him, "Child, why have you done this to us? Look, your father and I have been searching for you anxiously!" ⁴⁹ And he said to them, "_⌊Why_⌋* were you searching for me? Did you not know that it was necessary for me to be in the house* of my Father?" ⁵⁰ And they did not understand the statement that he spoke to them. ⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was submitting to them. And his mother treasured all these things in her heart. ⁵² And Jesus was advancing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with people.

¹⁷ Therefore tell us what you think. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations,* and then the end will come.

⁹ And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.

¹⁵ And he said to them, "Go* into all the world and* preach the gospel to all creation.

¹ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,* when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,

²⁸ And one of them _⌊named_⌋* Agabus stood up and* indicated by the Spirit that a great famine was about to come over the whole inhabited earth (which took place in the time of Claudius).

¹¹ If then I am doing wrong* and have done anything deserving death, I am not trying to avoid* dying. But if there is nothing true of the things which these people are accusing me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!"

²¹ But when* Paul appealed that he be kept under guard for the decision of His Majesty the Emperor, I gave orders for him to be kept under guard until I could send him to Caesar."

⁸ First, I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed in the whole world.

²² All the saints greet you, and especially those of Caesar's household.

²⁴ And a report about him went out _⌊throughout_⌋* Syria, and they brought to him all those _⌊who were sick_⌋* with various diseases and afflicted by torments, demon-possessed* and epileptics and paralytics, and he healed them.

³⁷ After this man, Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and _⌊caused people to follow him in revolt_⌋.* And that one perished, and all who followed him were scattered.

⁷ who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and* wished to hear the word of God.

¹² Now when* Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one purpose against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,

Greetings!

³⁰ Both the king and the governor got up, and Bernice and those who were sitting with them.

¹⁹ And Rachel died and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

⁷ As for me, when I came to Paddan-Aram Rachel died _⌊to my sorrow_⌋* in the land of Canaan on the way when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath. And I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem)."

¹⁹ So the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. _⌊And when they came_⌋* to Bethlehem, all of the town was stirred because of them. And they said, "Is this Naomi?"

⁴ And look, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, "May Yahweh be with you." And they said to him, "May Yahweh bless you."

¹¹ And all of the people who were at the gate and the elders said, "We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman coming into your house as Rachel and as Leah, who _⌊together_⌋* built the house of Israel. May you have strength in Ephrathah and bestow a name in Bethlehem.

¹⁷ And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, "A son has been born to Naomi." And they called his name Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

²¹ and Salmon fathered Boaz, and Boaz fathered Obed, ²² and Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.

¹ Then Yahweh said to Samuel, "_⌊How long_⌋* will you mourn about Saul? I have rejected him from being king over Israel! Fill up your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have chosen a king for myself among his sons."

⁴ So Samuel did what Yahweh said. He came to Bethlehem, and the elders of the city came trembling to meet him. They said, "_⌊Have you come in peace_⌋?"*

¹² Now David was the son of an Ephrathite. This man was from Bethlehem of Judah, and his name was Jesse. _⌊He had_⌋* eight sons; in the days of Saul this man was old, yet he still walked among* the men.

⁵⁸ Then Saul said to him, "Whose son are you, young man?" And David said, "I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite."

⁶ If your father misses me at all, then you must say, 'David earnestly asked from me to run to Bethlehem his city, for _⌊the yearly sacrifice_⌋* is there for all the clan.'

² But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you one will go out for me, to be ruler in Israel; and his origins are from of old, from ancient days.

¹ Now after* Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, ² saying, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star at its rising* and have come to worship him." ³ And when* King Herod heard it,* he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him, ⁴ and after* calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired from them where the Christ was to be born. ⁵ So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet, ⁶ 'And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for from you will go out a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'"*

²³ And he came and* lived in a town called Nazareth, in order that what was said by the prophets would be fulfilled:* "He will be called a Nazarene."

²⁶ Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee _⌊named_⌋* Nazareth, ²⁷ to a virgin legally promised in marriage to a man _⌊named_⌋* Joseph of the house of David. And the name of the virgin was Mary.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see!"

⁴² Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

²² "If a man is found lying _⌊with a married woman_⌋,* then they shall both die; _⌊both of them_⌋,* the man who lay with the woman and the woman also, so you shall purge the evil from Israel. ²³ "If it happens that a young woman, a virgin, is engaged to a man, and a man finds her in the town and lies with her, ²⁴ then you shall bring out _⌊both of them_⌋* to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them with stones so that they shall die, the young woman because she did not cry out in the town, and the man because* he violated his neighbor's wife; and so you shall purge the evil from your midst. ²⁵ "But if the man finds the young engaged woman in the field and the man overpowers her and _⌊he has sex with her_⌋,* then the man only* must die who lay* with her. ²⁶ But you shall not do anything* to the young woman, for there is not reckoned against* the young woman _⌊a sin deserving death_⌋;* _⌊it is similar to when_⌋* a man rises up against his neighbor and murders him, _⌊a fellow human being_⌋,* just so is this _⌊case_⌋,* ²⁷ for he found her in the field, the engaged young woman cried out, but there was no* rescuer _⌊to help her_⌋.*

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found _⌊to be pregnant_⌋* by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ So Joseph her husband, being righteous and not wanting to disgrace her, intended to divorce her secretly.

¹¹ The plan of Yahweh stands firm forever, the intents of his heart _⌊from one generation to the next_⌋.*

²¹ Many plans are in the heart* of a man, but the purpose of Yahweh will be established.

⁵⁷ Now the time came for Elizabeth that she should give birth, and she gave birth to a son.

¹ And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars, ² and _⌊who was pregnant_⌋* and was crying out because she* was having birth pains, and was in torment to give birth. ³ And another sign appeared in heaven, and behold, a great fiery red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven royal headbands.* ⁴ And his tail swept away a third of the stars from heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, in order that whenever she gave birth to her child he could devour it. ⁵ And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is going to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod,* and her child was snatched away to God and to his throne.

²⁷ And one of them later opened his sack to give fodder to his donkey at the lodging place and saw his money—behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.

²¹ but when we came to the place of lodging and we opened our sacks, then behold, each one's money was in the mouth of his sack—our money in its full weight—so we have returned with it in our hands.

²⁴ _⌊And_⌋* on the way, at the place of overnight lodging, Yahweh encountered him and sought to kill him.

⁶ But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by humankind and despised by people.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you* a sign. Look! the virgin* is with child and she is about to give birth to a son, and she shall call his name 'God with us.'

² For* he went* up like a shoot before him, and like a root from dry ground. He had no form and no majesty that* we should see him, and no appearance that* we should take pleasure in him. ³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with* sickness, and like _⌊one from whom others hide their faces_⌋,* he was despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.

²⁵ and _⌊did not have sexual relations with_⌋* her until she gave birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

²⁰ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

⁵⁵ Is not this one the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

¹¹ that today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. ¹² And this will be the sign for you: you will find the baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger."

³⁴ And he came up and* bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine, and he put him on his own animal and* brought him to an inn and took care of him.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he* was rich, for your sake he became poor, in order that you, by his poverty, may become rich.

⁴ But when the fullness of time came, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

³⁹ I brought no mangled carcass to you—I bore its loss. From my hand you sought it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night. ⁴⁰ There I was, during the day the heat consumed me, and the cold by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes.

¹ And Moses was a shepherd with the flock* of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the west of the desert, and he came to the mountain of God, to Horeb. ² And the angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush, and he looked, and there was the bush burning with fire, but the bush was not being consumed.

³⁴ And David said to Saul, "Your servant has been a shepherd of the flock for his father. If the lion or the bear would come and carry off a sheep from the group, ³⁵ I would go out after it and strike it down and rescue the sheep from its mouth. If it rose against me, I would grab it by its beard and strike it down and kill it.

⁷⁰ And he chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds. ⁷¹ He brought him from following nursing ewes to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.

⁸ "_⌊As I live_⌋,"* _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, "_⌊Surely_⌋* because my flock have become as plunder, and my flock became as food to* all the animals* of the field, since there was not a shepherd, since my shepherds have not sought my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and they fed not my flock,'"

⁸ All those who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep do not listen to them. ⁹ I am the door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and will go out and will find pasture. ¹⁰ The thief _⌊comes only_⌋* so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it* abundantly. ¹¹ "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. ¹² The hired hand, who is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf approaching and abandons the sheep and runs away—and the wolf seizes them and scatters them*—

⁷ and in the morning, you will see the glory of Yahweh, _⌊for he hears_⌋* your grumblings against Yahweh, and what are we that you grumble against us?"

¹⁰ And at the moment of Aaron's speaking to all the community of the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* they turned to the desert, _⌊and just then_⌋* the glory of Yahweh appeared in the cloud.

³⁴ And the cloud covered the tent of assembly, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was unable to go into the tent of assembly because the cloud settled on it and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

¹¹ The angel of Yahweh came and sat under the oak* that was at Ophrah that belonged to Jehoash the Abiezrite; and Gideon his son was threshing wheat in the winepress to hide it* from the Midianites.* ¹² The angel of Yahweh appeared to him and said to him, "Yahweh is with you, _⌊you mighty warrior_⌋."*

¹¹ The priests were not able to stand to minister _⌊because of the presence of_⌋* the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of Yahweh.

³ And the one called to the other and said,
"Holy, holy, holy is Yahweh of hosts! The _⌊whole earth is full of his glory_⌋."* ⁴ And the pivots of the thresholds shook from the sound of those who called, and the house* was filled with smoke. ⁵ And I said, "Woe to me! For I am destroyed!* For I am a man _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* and I am living among* a people _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* for my eyes have seen the king, Yahweh of hosts!"

² It shall blossom abundantly, and it shall rejoice indeed with rejoicing and exulting. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. _⌊They are the ones who_⌋* shall see the glory of Yahweh, the majesty of our God.

⁵ And the glory of Yahweh shall be revealed, and all _⌊humankind_⌋* together shall see it,
for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken."

¹ "Arise, shine! For your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh has risen on you.

²³ And I rose up, and I went to the valley, and, look, there the glory of Yahweh was standing, like the glory that I saw near the _⌊Kebar River_⌋,* and I fell on my face.

²⁰ But as* he was considering these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And Zechariah was terrified when he* saw the angel,* and fear fell upon him.

²⁸ And he came to her and* said, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."

⁴ And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men in gleaming clothing stood near them.

⁴¹ Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory, and he spoke about him.

¹⁹ But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison and led them out and* said,

⁷ And behold, an angel of the Lord stood near him,* and a light shone in the prison cell. And striking Peter's side, he woke him up, saying, "Get up _⌊quickly_⌋!"* And his chains fell off of his* hands.

⁶ "And it happened that as* I was traveling and approaching Damascus around noon, suddenly a very bright light from heaven flashed around me, ⁷ and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?' ⁸ And I answered, 'Who are you, Lord?' And he said to me, 'I am Jesus the Nazarene whom you are persecuting.' ⁹ (Now those who were with me saw the light but did not hear the voice of the one who was speaking to me.)

¹³ In the middle of the day along the road, O king, I saw a light from heaven, more than the brightness of the sun, shining around me and those who were traveling with me. ¹⁴ And when* we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Aramaic language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads!'

²³ For this night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve came to me,

¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, reflecting* the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory into glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

⁶ For God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"* is the one who has shined in our hearts for the enlightenment of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.*

¹⁶ And most certainly, great is the mystery of godliness:
Who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated by* the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the Gentiles*, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

²¹ And the spectacle was so terrifying that Moses said, "I am terrified and trembling."*

¹ After these things I saw another angel descending from heaven, who had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne and the one who was seated on it, _⌊from whose presence_⌋* earth and heaven fled, and a place was not found for them.

³ And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you."

May God be gracious to us and bless us. May he cause his face to shine toward us, Selah ² that your way may be known on the earth, your salvation among all nations.

² Yahweh has made known his salvation;* to the eyes of the nations he has revealed his righteousness. ³ He has remembered his loyal love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation* of our God.

⁹ _⌊Get yourself_⌋* up to a high mountain, Zion, bringer of good news! Lift up your voice with strength, Jerusalem, bringer of good news! Lift it up; you must not fear! Say to the cities of Judah, "Here is your God!"

²⁷ First to Zion, look! Look at them!
And I give a herald* of good tidings to Jerusalem.

⁶ And he says, "It is trivial _⌊for you to be_⌋* a servant for me,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel. I will give you as a light to the nations, to be my salvation to the end of the earth."

⁷ How delightful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns as a king."

¹⁰ Yahweh has bared _⌊his holy arm_⌋* to the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends* of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up _⌊the brokenhearted_⌋,* to _⌊proclaim_⌋* release to the captives and liberation to those who are bound,

¹¹ And he said to me, "Daniel, a man beloved, pay attention to the words that I am speaking to you and _⌊stand upright where you are_⌋,* for I have now been sent to you." And _⌊while he was speaking_⌋* with me this word,* I stood up trembling. ¹² And he said to me, "You must not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself _⌊before_⌋* your God, your words were heard, and I myself* have come because of your words.

¹⁹ And he said, "You must not fear, O beloved man. _⌊Peace be to you_⌋;* be strong and be courageous!" And _⌊when he spoke_⌋* with me, I was strengthened and I said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, _⌊the foal of_⌋* a female donkey!

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Have courage, I am he! Do not be afraid!"

⁵ But the angel answered and* said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

¹⁸ And Jesus approached and* spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

¹⁵ and saying, "The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the gospel!"

¹³ But the angel said to him,
"Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will call his name John.

¹⁹ And the angel answered and* said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.

³⁰ And the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

³¹ that you have prepared in the presence of all the peoples, ³² a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory to your people Israel."

¹ And it happened that _⌊afterward_⌋* also he was going about from one town and village to another preaching and proclaiming the good news concerning the kingdom of God, and the twelve were with him,

⁴⁷ and repentance and the forgiveness* of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,* beginning from Jerusalem.

³² And we proclaim the good news to you: that the promise that was made to the fathers,

¹⁵ And how will they preach, unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How timely are the feet of those who bring good news of good things."*

⁹ and that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, just as it is written,
"Because of this, I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praise to your name."* ¹⁰ And again it says,
"Rejoice, Gentiles, with his people."* ¹¹ And again,
"Praise the Lord, all the Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise him."* ¹² And again Isaiah says,
"The root of Jesse will come, even the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles will put their hope."*

⁸ To me, the least of all the saints, was given this grace: to proclaim the good news of the fathomless riches of Christ to the Gentiles,

²³ if indeed you remain in the faith, established and steadfast and not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person, and he placed his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the one who lives, and I was dead, and behold, I am living _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.

¹⁵ And I will put hostility between you and between the woman, and between your offspring* and between her offspring;* he will strike you on the head, and you will strike him on the heel."

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff between his feet, until Shiloh comes. And to him shall be the obedience of nations.

² The kings of the earth establish themselves, and the rulers conspire* together against Yahweh and his anointed:

⁶ For a child has been born for us; a son has been given to us. And the dominion will be on his shoulder, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

²⁴ "Seventy weeks is decreed for your people and _⌊for your holy city_⌋,* to put an end to the transgression and to seal up sin* and to make atonement for guilt and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal vision and prophet and to anoint _⌊the most holy place_⌋.* ²⁵ And you must know and you must understand* that from the time of the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem until an anointed* one—a leader—will be _⌊seven weeks and sixty-two weeks_⌋;* it will be restored and will be built with streets and a moat, but _⌊in a time of oppression_⌋.* ²⁶ "And after the sixty and two weeks an anointed one* shall be cut off, and _⌊he shall have nothing_⌋,* and the people of the coming leader will destroy the city and the sanctuary,* and its end will be with the flood and on to the end there shall be war; these desolations are determined.

¹⁶ and Jacob became the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary by whom* was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

²¹ And she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name 'Jesus,' because he will save his people from their sins."

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and* said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!"

²⁰ Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was the Christ.

⁴³ And why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,

⁴ So Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David,

²⁶ And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he would see the Lord's Christ.*

⁴¹ But he said to them, "In what sense do they say that the Christ is David's son? ⁴² For David himself says in the book of Psalms,
'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, ⁴³ until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '* ⁴⁴ David therefore calls him 'Lord,' and how is he his son?"

⁴¹ This one first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is translated "Christ").

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found the one whom Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets wrote about—Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth!"

⁴² And they were saying to the woman, "No longer because of _⌊what you said_⌋* do we believe, for we ourselves have heard, and we know that this one is truly the Savior of the world!"

⁶⁹ And we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."

²⁵ Then some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem began to say,* "Is this not the one whom they are seeking to kill? ²⁶ And behold, he is speaking openly and they are saying nothing to him! Can it be that the rulers truly know that this man is the Christ? ²⁷ Yet we know where this man is from, but the Christ, whenever he comes—no one knows where he is from!"

⁴¹ Others were saying, "This man is the Christ!" But others were saying, "No, for the Christ does not come from Galilee, does he?*

²⁷ She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who comes into the world."

³¹ but these things are recorded in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by* believing you may have life in his name.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified!"

³¹ This one God has exalted to his right hand as Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

³⁶ As for* the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ—this one is Lord of all—

³ explaining and demonstrating that it was necessary for the Christ* to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."*

⁴⁷ The first man is from the earth, made of earth; the second man is from heaven.

⁴ But when the fullness of time came, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, ⁵ in order that he might redeem those under the law, in order that we might receive the adoption.

¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁸ _⌊More than that_⌋*, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and consider them* dung, in order that I may gain Christ

⁶ Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, live in him,

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace that was given to us in Christ Jesus _⌊before time began_⌋*, ¹⁰ but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ,* who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,

¹⁰ not stealing, but demonstrating all good faith, in order that they may do credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything. ¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² training us in order that, denying impiety and worldly desires, we may live self-controlled and righteously and godly in the present age, ¹³ looking forward to the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, in order that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.

⁴ But when the kindness and love for mankind of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

¹ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been fathered by God, and everyone who loves _⌊the father_⌋* also loves the child fathered by him.

¹² And he said, "Because I am with you, and this will be the sign for you that I myself have sent you: When you bring the people out from Egypt, you will serve God on this mountain."

³⁴ This is the sign for you that will come regarding your two sons Hophni and Phinehas: they will both die on the same day!

² As you go from with me _⌊today_⌋,* you will find two men near the burial site of Rachel in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah. They will say to you, 'The female donkeys that you went to search for have been found.' Now look, your father _⌊is no longer concerned about_⌋* the female donkeys and has begun worrying about you,* saying, 'What should I do about my son?' ³ Then you will go on from there and further you will come to the oak of Tabor. There three men will meet you, who are going up to God at Bethel. One will be carrying three male kid goats, one will be carrying three loaves of bread, and one will be carrying a skin of wine. ⁴ _⌊They will ask how you are doing_⌋* and will give you two loaves, which you will take from their hand. ⁵ After this, you will come to the Gibeah of God,* where there are sentries* of the Philistines. _⌊Just as you enter_⌋* the town there, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place, with harp, tambourine, flute, and zither before them, and they will be prophesying. ⁶ Then the Spirit of Yahweh will rush upon you,* and you will prophesy with them; and you will turn into _⌊a different person_⌋.* ⁷ When these signs come to you, do for yourself what your hand finds to do, for God will be with you.

²⁹ " 'This will be the sign for you: Eat the volunteer plants for the year, and in the second year, the volunteer plants that spring up from that. But in the third year, sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

⁸ Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What is the sign that Yahweh will heal me that I shall go up on the third day to the temple of Yahweh?"

¹¹ "Ask for a sign for yourself from Yahweh God; make it deep as Sheol or make it high as above."

¹ Who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed? ² For* he went* up like a shoot before him, and like a root from dry ground. He had no form and no majesty that* we should see him, and no appearance that* we should take pleasure in him.

¹² And he dreamed, and behold, a stairway was set on the earth, and its top touched the heavens. And behold, angels of God were going up and going down on it.

¹ And Jacob went on his way, and angels of God met him. ² And when he saw them, Jacob said, "This is the camp of God!" And he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

¹⁹ And he* said, "Therefore, hear the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne with all the hosts of heaven standing beside him from his right hand and from his left hand.

⁷ when the morning stars were singing together and all the sons of God* shouted for joy?

¹⁷ The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, with thousands doubled. The Lord is among them at Sinai, distinctive in victory.*

²⁰ Bless Yahweh, you his angels, you mighty heroes who do his word by _⌊obeying_⌋* the sound of his word. ²¹ Bless Yahweh, all you his hosts, you his attendants who do his will.

² Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts.*

² Seraphs were standing above him. _⌊Each had six wings_⌋:* with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. ³ And the one called to the other and said,
"Holy, holy, holy is Yahweh of hosts! The _⌊whole earth is full of his glory_⌋."*

¹² And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great earthquake when the glory of Yahweh rose from its place.

¹⁰ A stream of fire issued forth and flowed _⌊from his presence_⌋;* thousands upon thousands served him and ten thousand upon ten thousand stood before him. The judge sat, and the books were opened.

¹⁰ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

¹⁰ in order that the many-sided wisdom of God might be made known now to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places through the church,

¹⁴ Are they not all spirits engaged in special service, sent on assignment for the sake of those who are going to inherit salvation?

¹² to whom it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you with reference to the same things which now have been announced to you through those who proclaimed the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, _⌊things into which_⌋* angels desire to look.

¹¹ And I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and of the living creatures and of the elders, and their number was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands times thousands,

³⁴ Let heavens and earth praise him, the seas and all that moves in them, ³⁵ because God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it.

⁹ Surely his salvation is near for those who fear him, that glory may abide in our land. ¹⁰ Loyal love and faithfulness* will meet one another; righteousness and peace will kiss. ¹¹ Faithfulness* will sprout from the ground, and righteousness will look down from heaven. ¹² Yes, Yahweh will give what is good, and our land will give its produce.

¹¹ Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice. Let the sea with* its fullness roar. ¹² Let the field with* all that is in it exult. Then all the trees of the forests will sing for joy ¹³ before Yahweh, for he is coming; for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his faithfulness.

⁶ For a child has been born for us; a son has been given to us. And the dominion will be on his shoulder, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ _⌊His dominion will grow continually, and to peace there will be no end_⌋* on* the throne of David and over* his kingdom, to establish it* and sustain it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.

²³ Sing for joy, heavens, for Yahweh has done it! Shout, depths of the earth! Break forth, mountains, in rejoicing, forest and every tree in it, for Yahweh has redeemed Jacob, and he will show his glory in Israel!

¹³ Sing for joy, heavens, and rejoice, earth! Mountains must break forth in rejoicing! For Yahweh has comforted his people, and he will take pity on his afflicted ones.

¹⁹ creating fruit of lips. Peace, peace to the far and near," says Yahweh, "and I will heal him.

⁵ "Look, days are coming," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "when I will raise up for David a righteous branch, and he will reign as king, and he will achieve success, and he will do justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell _⌊in safety_⌋,* and this is his name by which he will be called: 'Yahweh is our righteousness.'

⁵ And this one will be peace. As for the Assyrian,* when he comes into our land and when he treads on our fortresses, then we will raise up against him seven shepherds and eight leaders of men.

¹² And say to him, 'Thus says Yahweh of hosts: "Look, here is a man whose name is Branch,* and from his place he will sprout, and he will build the temple of Yahweh. ¹³ And he will build the temple of Yahweh, and he will bear majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he shall be a priest on his throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two of them." '*

⁹ And the crowds who went ahead of him and the ones who followed were shouting, saying,
"Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!* Hosanna in the highest heaven!"*

⁷⁹ to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."

²² and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

³⁸ saying,
"Blessed is the king, the one who comes in the name of the Lord!* Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

¹⁶ For in this way God loved the world, so that he gave his one and only Son, in order that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.

²⁷ "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you—not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them* be afraid.

⁴ I have glorified you on earth by* completing the work that you have given me _⌊to do_⌋.*

¹ Therefore, because we* have been declared righteous by faith, we have* peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁸ And all these things are from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation, ¹⁹ namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. ²⁰ Therefore we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as if* God were imploring you through us. We beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved,

⁹ making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he purposed in him,

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

⁷ in order that he might show in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ For he himself is our peace, who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of the partition, the enmity, in his flesh, ¹⁵ invalidating the law of commandments in ordinances, in order that he might create the two in himself into one new man, thus* making peace, ¹⁶ and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, killing the enmity in himself.* ¹⁷ And coming, he proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to the ones who were near, ¹⁸ because through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

²⁰ Now to the one who is able to do beyond all measure more than all that we ask or think, according to the power that is at work in us, ²¹ to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

¹³ For the one at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure, is God.

²⁰ and through him to reconcile all things to himself, by* making peace through the blood of his cross, through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,

²⁰ Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, ²¹ equip you with every good thing to do his will, carrying out in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory _⌊forever_⌋*.* Amen.

⁹ By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God sent his one and only Son into the world in order that we may live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation* for our sins.

¹³ And I heard every creature that is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea and everything in them saying,
"To the one who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power* _⌊forever and ever_⌋*."

³ And Moses said, "Let me turn aside and see this great sight. Why does the bush not burn up?"

¹ When Yahweh was about to take Elijah up in the storm to heaven, Elijah and Elisha went from Gilgal.

¹¹ Then they were walking, talking as they went. Suddenly a fiery chariot with horses of fire appeared and separated between the two of them. Elijah went up in the storm to the heavens

² The works of Yahweh are great, studied* by all who delight in them.

¹ Now after* Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, ² saying, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star at its rising* and have come to worship him."

⁹ After* they listened to the king, they went out, and behold, the star which they had seen at its rising* led them until it came and* stood above the place where the child was. ¹⁰ Now when they* saw the star, they rejoiced with very great joy. ¹¹ And when they* came into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and* worshiped him. And opening their treasure boxes, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁴² The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something* greater than Solomon is here!

⁵¹ And it happened that while he was blessing them, he parted from them and was taken up into heaven.

¹ Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it* was still dark, and saw the stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord from the tomb and we do not know where they have put him!" ³ Then Peter and the other disciple went out and were going to the tomb. ⁴ And the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first. ⁵ And bending over to look, he saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, though he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter also came following him, and he went into the tomb and saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, ⁷ and the facecloth that was on his head—not lying with the strips of linen cloth, but folded up separately in one place. ⁸ So then the other disciple who had come to the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed. ⁹ (For they did not yet know the scripture that it was necessary for him to rise from the dead.) ¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.*

²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, with angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to him.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

³⁹ Now in those days Mary set out and* traveled with haste into the hill country, to a town of Judah,

⁷ And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

¹² And this will be the sign for you: you will find the baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger."

³² So those who were sent went and* found it* just as he had told them.

¹³ So they went and* found everything* just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices. Yes, my body will dwell in safety, ¹⁰ for you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see the grave.

¹⁶ Come and hear, all you God-fearers, and I will tell what he has done for me.*

¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth, and up to now I have proclaimed your wonderful deeds. ¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your _⌊strength_⌋* to this generation, your power to every one that comes after.

¹⁶ Then those who revered* Yahweh spoke _⌊with one another_⌋.* And Yahweh listened attentively* and heard, and a scroll of remembrance was written _⌊before him_⌋* of those who revere* Yahweh and ponder his name.

³⁸ And at that same hour she approached and* began to give thanks* to God, and to speak about him to all those who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

³⁹ "Return to your home and tell all that God has done for you." And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town all that Jesus had done for him.

⁴¹ This one first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is translated "Christ"). ⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Looking at him, Jesus said, "You are Simon the son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which is interpreted "Peter"). ⁴³ On the next day he wanted to depart for Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me!" ⁴⁴ (Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.) ⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found the one whom Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets wrote about—Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth!" ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see!"

²⁸ So the woman left her water jar and went away into the town and said to the people,* ²⁹ "Come, see a man who told me everything I have ever done! Perhaps this one is the Christ?"

¹⁸ Look! I and the children whom Yahweh has given to me are like signs and portents in Israel from Yahweh of hosts, the one who dwells on the mountain of Zion.

⁶⁵ And fear came on all those who lived near them, and in all the hill country of Judea all these events were discussed. ⁶⁶ And all those who heard kept these things* in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be? For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him!"

³³ And his father and mother were astonished at what was said about him.

⁴⁷ And all who heard him were amazed at his insight and his* answers.

³⁶ And amazement came upon them all, and they began to talk* with one another, saying, "What word* is this? For he commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they come out!"

⁹ For amazement had seized him and all those who were with him at the catch of fish that they had caught, ¹⁰ and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were business partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid! From now on you will be catching people!"

¹¹ And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

¹² _⌊David took these words seriously_⌋* and _⌊felt severely threatened by_⌋* Achish the king of Gath.

⁴ he taught me and said to me, "May your heart hold fast to my words; guard my commandments and live.

⁹ Who is wise that he can understand these things? Who is discerning that he knows them? The ways of Yahweh are right, and the righteous walk in them; but transgressors stumble in them.

⁶⁶ And all those who heard kept these things* in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be? For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him!"

⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was submitting to them. And his mother treasured all these things in her heart.

⁴³ And they were all astounded at the impressiveness of God. ⁴⁴ "_⌊You take these words to heart_⌋,* for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."

¹⁰ Then David blessed Yahweh in the sight of all the assembly, and David said, "Blessed are you, O Yahweh, God of Israel, our father forever and ever! ¹¹ To you, O Yahweh, is the greatness and the power and the splendor and the glory and the strength, for everything in the heavens and in the earth. Yours, O Yahweh, is the kingdom and exaltation over all as head! ¹² And wealth and glory are from you, and you rule over all. And in your hand is power and might. And in your hand is power to make great and to give strength to all.

¹⁷ May his name endure forever. May his name increase _⌊as long as the sun shines_⌋,* and let them be blessed in him. Let all nations call him blessed. ¹⁸ Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful things. ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name forever, and may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.

⁴³ And immediately he regained his sight and began to follow* him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they* saw it,* gave praise to God.

³⁷ Now as* he was drawing near by this time to the descent from the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began rejoicing to praise God with a loud voice for all the miracles that they had seen, ³⁸ saying,
"Blessed is the king, the one who comes in the name of the Lord!* Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

⁴⁶ And every day, devoting themselves to meeting* with one purpose in the temple courts* and breaking bread from house to house, they were eating their food with joy and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding every day to the total of those who were being saved.

¹⁸ And when they* heard these things, they became silent* and praised God, saying, "Then God has granted the repentance leading to life to the Gentiles also!"

¹² And _⌊at eight days of age_⌋* you shall yourselves circumcise every male belonging to your generations and _⌊the servant born in your house and the one bought from any foreigner_⌋* who is not from your offspring.

³ And on the eighth day his foreskin's flesh shall be circumcised.

¹⁵ But Jesus answered and* said to him, "Permit it now, for in this way it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted him.

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in the womb and will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus.

⁵⁹ And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were wanting to name him _⌊after_⌋* his father Zechariah.

⁸ he humbled himself by* becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.

¹ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'When a woman becomes pregnant and she gives birth to a male,* then* she shall be unclean seven days—as in the time of her menstrual bleeding, she shall become unclean. ³ And on the eighth day his foreskin's flesh shall be circumcised. ⁴ And for thirty-three days she shall stay in the blood of her cleansing; she must not touch any holy object, and she may not come to the sanctuary until the fulfilling of the days of her cleansing. ⁵ But* if she gives birth to a female,* then* she shall be unclean for two weeks as in her menstruation, and for sixty-six days she shall stay _⌊through_⌋* the blood of her cleansing. ⁶ And at the fulfilling of the days of her cleansing, whether for a son or for a daughter, she must bring to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance a _⌊yearling_⌋* male lamb as a burnt offering and _⌊young dove_⌋* or a turtledove as a sin offering. ⁷ And the priest shall present it _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and he shall make atonement for her, so that* she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the regulation of childbearing* for the male* or for the female.* ⁸ And if _⌊she cannot afford_⌋* a sheep,* then* she shall take two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋*—one as a burnt offering and one as a sin offering—and the priest shall make atonement for her, so that* she shall be clean.'"

² "Consecrate to me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* among humans* and among domestic animals;* _⌊it belongs to me_⌋."*

¹² you will hand over every first offspring of a womb to Yahweh, and every first offspring dropped by a domestic animal that will belong to you, the males will be for Yahweh. ¹³ And every first offspring of a donkey you will redeem with small livestock, and if you will not redeem it, then you will break its neck, and every firstborn human among your sons you will redeem. ¹⁴ And when your son asks you _⌊in the future_⌋,* saying, 'What is this?' you will say to him, 'With strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from a house of slaves. ¹⁵ And when Pharaoh was stubborn to release us, Yahweh killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from firstborn human to firstborn domestic animal. Therefore I am sacrificing to Yahweh every first offspring of a womb, the males, and every firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

²⁹ " 'You will not delay the fullness of your harvest and the juice from your press; you will give me the firstborn of your sons.

¹⁹ Every first offspring of a womb is for me—all of your male livestock, the first offspring of cattle and small livestock.

¹³ because all the firstborn are mine; on the day of my killing all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for myself all the firstborn in Israel, _⌊both humankind and animal_⌋;* they will be mine. I am Yahweh."

¹⁶ For they are given to me exclusively from the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* I have taken them for myself in place of the firstborn of every womb, every firstborn from the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ¹⁷ For every firstborn among the _⌊Israelites_⌋* is mine, both humankind and animal. On the day I destroyed every firstborn in the land of Egypt I consecrated them to me,

¹⁵ All the first offspring of a womb of any creature that they offer to Yahweh, whether human or animal, will be yours; you will surely redeem the firstborn of the human and the unclean firstborn of the animal.

² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'When a woman becomes pregnant and she gives birth to a male,* then* she shall be unclean seven days—as in the time of her menstrual bleeding, she shall become unclean.

⁹ These are the generations* of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, without defect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

²⁵ Then Yahweh went down in the cloud and spoke to him, and he took away the spirit that was on him, and he _⌊put it_⌋* on the seventy elders. And as soon as the spirit was resting on them they prophesied, but they did not do it again.

²⁹ But Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that he* give all Yahweh's people prophets, that Yahweh put his spirit on them!"

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz whose* name was Job. That* man was blameless and upright and God-fearing and turning away from evil.

⁸ So* Yahweh said to Satan,* "Have you _⌊considered_⌋* my servant Job? Indeed,* there is no one like him on the earth—a blameless man and upright and God-fearing and turning away from evil."

⁹ And one will say, on that day,
"Look! This is our God! We have waited for him and he saved us! This is Yahweh; we waited for him! Let us be glad, and let us rejoice in his salvation."

¹ "Comfort; comfort my people," says your God.

²² My God sent his angel and he shut the mouth of the lions and they did not* hurt me, _⌊because_⌋* before him _⌊I was found_⌋* blameless, and also before you, O king, I have not done any wrong." ²³ Then the king was exceedingly glad over it* and commanded that Daniel be lifted up from the pit; and there was not any wound found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

⁸ He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does Yahweh ask from you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

⁴³ Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the council who was also himself looking forward to* the kingdom of God, came acting courageously and* went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

⁶ And they were both righteous in the sight of God, living blamelessly in all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.

⁴¹ And it happened that when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby in her womb leaped and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

⁶⁷ And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

⁵¹ (this man was not consenting to their plan and deed), from Arimathea, _⌊a Judean town_⌋,* who was looking forward to the kingdom of God.

² devout and fearing God together with all his household, doing many charitable deeds for the people and praying to God _⌊continually_⌋.*

²² And they said, "Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man—and well spoken of by the whole nation of the Jews—was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear words from you."

¹⁶ _⌊For this reason_⌋* also I myself _⌊always_⌋* do my best to have a clear conscience toward God and people.

²¹ for no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

⁶ "But as for me, I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

¹⁴ Intimate fellowship with Yahweh is for those who fear him, and he makes known his covenant to them.

⁴⁸ What man can live on and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the _⌊power_⌋* of Sheol? Selah ⁴⁹ Where are your former acts of loyal love, O Lord, that you swore to David by your faithfulness?

⁷ Surely my Lord does not do anything unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.

²⁷ But I tell you truly, there are some of those standing here who will never experience death until they see the kingdom of God."

²⁹ "Come, see a man who told me everything I have ever done! Perhaps this one is the Christ?"

⁵¹ Truly, truly I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never experience death _⌊forever_⌋."*

²⁰ And immediately he began proclaiming* Jesus in the synagogues: "This one is the Son of God!"

³⁸ Jesus of Nazareth—how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

⁸ but concerning the Son,
"Your throne, O God, is _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and the scepter of righteous is the scepter of your kingdom. ⁹ You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; because of this God, your God, has anointed you with the olive oil of joy more than your companions.*

⁵ By faith Enoch was taken up, so that he did not experience death, and he was not found, because God took him up. For before his removal, he had been approved _⌊as having been pleasing_⌋* to God.

¹ Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil,

²² And when the days of their purification were completed according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him* to the Lord

⁴¹ And his parents went every year to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover.

⁴⁸ And when they* saw him, they were astounded and his mother said to him, "Child, why have you done this to us? Look, your father and I have been searching for you anxiously!"

¹ And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness

²⁹ And the Spirit said to Philip, "Approach and join this chariot."

¹⁹ And while* Peter was reflecting about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, men* are looking for you.

¹² And the Spirit told me to accompany them, not hesitating at all. So these six brothers also went with me, and we entered into the man's house.

⁷ And when they* came to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a great sound like a trumpet

³ And he carried me away into the wilderness in the Spirit,* and I saw a woman seated on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

¹¹ Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright of heart.

¹ Give thanks to Yahweh; proclaim his name; make known his deeds among the peoples. ² Sing to him; sing praises concerning him; tell of all his wonderful works. ³ Boast about his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.

³⁶ And he took a young child and* had him stand _⌊among them_⌋.* And taking him in his arms, he said to them,

¹⁶ And after* taking them* into his arms, he blessed them, placing his* hands on them.

⁴⁶ And Mary said,
"My soul exalts the Lord,

⁶⁴ And his mouth and his tongue were opened immediately, and he began to speak,* praising God.

⁶⁸ "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited to help and _⌊has redeemed_⌋* his people,

³⁷ Observe the blameless and look at the upright, for there is a future for a man of peace.

¹ The righteous one perishes, and there is no one who takes* it to heart. And men of faithfulness are gathered, while there is no one who understands, for the righteous is gathered from the presence of wickedness. ² he enters into peace; they will rest on their beds, walking straight ahead of him.

²³ But I am hard pressed _⌊between the two options_⌋*, having the desire to depart and to be with Christ, _⌊for this is very much better_⌋*.

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write:
'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'"
"Yes," says the Spirit, "in order that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow after them."

¹⁸ I wait for your salvation, O Yahweh.

¹ These are the last words of David, the declaration of David the son of Jesse, and the declaration of the man exalted by the Most High, the anointed one of the God of Jacob and the darling of the songs of Israel. ² "The spirit of Yahweh speaks through me, and his word is upon my tongue. ³ The God of Israel said to me, the rock of Israel has spoken; 'He who rules over mankind rules righteously, in the fear of God. ⁴ Like the light of the morning when the sun rises, shining with no clouds, bringing vegetation from the earth apart from rain.'* ⁵ Yet not so is my house with God, for he made an everlasting covenant for me, arranging everything. He has secured all my deliverance, and all my desire he will cause to happen.

¹⁰ And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring good news to you of great joy which will be for all the people: ¹¹ that today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.

⁶ and all flesh will see the salvation of God.'"*

¹⁰ let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man stands before you healthy! ¹¹ This one* is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋.* ¹² And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."

¹ Sing to* Yahweh a new song; sing to* Yahweh, all the earth. ² Sing to* Yahweh; bless his name. Announce* his salvation from day to day. ³ Tell his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.

¹⁰ Say among the nations, "Yahweh is king! Yes, the world is established so that it will not be moved. He will judge the peoples fairly."

⁶ The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. ⁷ Let all who serve an image be ashamed, those who boast about idols.* Worship him, all you gods. ⁸ Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments, O Yahweh.

¹ Look! here is my servant; I hold him, my chosen one, in whom my soul delights. I have _⌊put_⌋* my spirit on him; he will bring justice forth to the nations. ² He will not cry out and lift up and make his voice heard in the street. ³ He will not break a broken reed, and he not will extinguish a dim wick. He will bring justice forth in* faithfulness. ⁴ He will not grow faint, and he will not be broken until he has established justice in the earth. And the coastlands wait for his teaching.

¹⁰ Sing a new song to Yahweh; praise him from the end of the earth, you* who go down to the sea and that which fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants. ¹¹ Let the desert and its towns lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy; let them shout loudly from the _⌊top_⌋* of the mountains. ¹² Let them give* glory to Yahweh and declare his praise in the coastlands.

²¹ Declare and present your case, also let them consult together! Who _⌊made this known_⌋* from _⌊former times_⌋,* declared it from _⌊of old_⌋?* Was it not I, Yahweh? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God besides me, and no savior besides me. ²² Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none besides me. ²³ I have sworn by myself; a word that* shall not return has gone forth from my mouth in righteousness: 'Every knee shall kneel down to me; every tongue shall swear.' ²⁴ 'Only in Yahweh,' one shall say to me, 'are righteousness and strength.' He shall come to him, and all those who were angry with him shall be ashamed. ²⁵ In Yahweh all the offspring of Israel shall be in the right, and they shall boast."

¹ For the sake of Zion I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not maintain a quiet attitude, until her righteousness goes out like the bright light, and her salvation burns like a torch. ² And the nations shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and _⌊you will be called_⌋* a new name that the mouth of Yahweh will designate.

⁹ Surely his salvation is near for those who fear him, that glory may abide in our land.

² On that day the branch of Yahweh shall become beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall become the pride and glory of the survivors* of Israel.

² The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; light has shined on those who lived in a land of darkness.

⁶ "I am Yahweh; I have called you in righteousness, and I have grasped your hand and watched over you; and I have given you as a covenant of the people, as a light of the nations, ⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoner out from the dungeon, those who sit in darkness from the house of imprisonment.

²⁵ In Yahweh all the offspring of Israel shall be in the right, and they shall boast."

¹ "Arise, shine! For your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh has risen on you. ² For look! darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples, but* Yahweh will rise on you, and his glory will appear over you. ³ And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the bright light of your sunrise.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day, and for bright light the moon shall not give you light, but* Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God your glory.

¹¹ Has a nation exchanged gods? And they are not gods! But my people have exchanged their glory for that which does not profit.

⁵ And I will be for it a wall of fire all around,' _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, 'and I will be the glory in its midst.'"

¹⁶ the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and the ones who sit in the land and shadow of death, a light has dawned on them."*

¹⁰ And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring good news to you of great joy which will be for all the people:

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has commanded us:
'I have appointed you _⌊to be_⌋* a light for the Gentiles, _⌊that you would bring_⌋* salvation to the end of the earth.'* ⁴⁸ And when* the Gentiles heard this,* they began to rejoice* and to glorify the word of the Lord. And all those who were designated for eternal life believed.

²³ that the Christ* was to suffer and that as the first of the resurrection from the dead, he was going to proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles."

²⁸ Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles. They also will listen!"*

⁸ For I say, Christ has become a servant of the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises to the fathers, ⁹ and that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, just as it is written,
"Because of this, I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praise to your name."*

³¹ so that, just as it is written, "The one who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."*

²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon, that they shine on it, for the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

"Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Maker of heaven and earth.

⁷ Then Joseph brought his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

⁴³ And Moses saw all the work, and, indeed, they had done it as Yahweh had commanded; so they did, and Moses blessed them.

²² Then* Aaron lifted his hand toward* the people, and he blessed them, and he came down _⌊after_⌋* _⌊sacrificing_⌋* the sin offering and the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings. ²³ Then* Moses and Aaron entered the tent of assembly. When* they came out, they blessed* the people, and Yahweh's glory appeared to all the people.

⁶ But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by humankind and despised by people. ⁷ All who see me mock me. They open wide their lips; they shake the head, saying: ⁸ "_⌊He trusts Yahweh_⌋.* Let him rescue him. Let him deliver him because he delights in him."

⁹ because the zeal for your house* has consumed me, and the reproaches of those reproaching you have fallen on me. ¹⁰ When I wept in the fasting of my soul, it became reproaches for me. ¹¹ When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became for them a byword. ¹² Those sitting at the gate talk about me as also* the songs of the drunkards.

¹⁴ And he will become like a sanctuary and a stumbling-stone, and like a stumbling-rock for the two houses of Israel, like a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many shall stumble among them, and they shall fall and they shall be broken, and they shall be ensnared and they shall be caught."

¹⁹ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a man who is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."*

⁴⁶ And* while* he was still speaking to the crowds, behold, his mother and brothers were standing there outside, desiring to speak to him.

⁴⁴ And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, and the one on whom it falls—it will crush him!"

⁶⁵ Then the high priest tore his robes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have just now heard the blasphemy! ⁶⁶ What do you think?" And they answered and* said, "_⌊He deserves death_⌋!"* ⁶⁷ Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists, and they slapped him,*

⁴⁰ and saying, "The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild it* in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!" ⁴¹ In the same way also the chief priests, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking him,* saying, ⁴² "He saved others; he is not able to save himself! He is the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him! ⁴³ He trusts in God; let him deliver him now if he wants to,* because he said, 'I am the Son of God'!" ⁴⁴ And in the same way even the robbers who were crucified with him were reviling him. ⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour, darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while* that deceiver was still alive he said, 'After three days I will rise.'

²⁰ For everyone who practices evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed.

¹⁸ So on account of this the Jews were seeking even more to kill him, because he not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God his own Father, thus* making himself equal with God.

⁴⁸ The Jews answered and said to him, "Do we not correctly say that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?" ⁴⁹ Jesus replied, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me! ⁵⁰ But I do not seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges! ⁵¹ Truly, truly I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never experience death _⌊forever_⌋."* ⁵² The Jews* said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham and the prophets died, and you say, 'If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death _⌊forever_⌋.'*

²⁴ So they summoned the man who had been blind for the second time and said to him, "Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner!" ²⁵ Then that man replied, "Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I know—that although I* was blind, now I see!" ²⁶ So they said to him, "What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?" ²⁷ He replied to them, "I told you already and you did not listen! Why do you want to hear it* again? You do not want to become his disciples also, do you?"* ²⁸ They reviled* him and said, "You are his disciple! But we are disciples of Moses! ²⁹ We know that God has spoken to Moses, but we do not know where this man is from."

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified!" ³⁷ Now when they* heard this,* they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "What should we do, men and brothers?" ³⁸ And Peter said* to them, "Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all those who are far away, as many as the Lord our God calls to himself." ⁴⁰ And with many other words he solemnly urged and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this crooked generation!" ⁴¹ So those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand souls were added.

¹⁵ And you killed the originator of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses! ¹⁶ And on the basis of faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know, and the faith that is through him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all. ¹⁷ And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also. ¹⁸ But the things which God foretold through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ* would suffer, he has fulfilled in this way. ¹⁹ Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out,

²⁶ The kings of the earth stood opposed, and the rulers assembled together at the same place, against the Lord and against his Christ.'*

⁷ And the word of God kept spreading, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem was increasing greatly, and a large number of priests began obeying* the faith.

¹ But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest ² and* asked for letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, both men and women, he could bring them* tied up* to Jerusalem. ³ Now as he proceeded, it happened that when he approached Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. ⁴ And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" ⁵ So he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting! ⁶ But get up and enter into the city, and it will be told to you _⌊what you must do_⌋."* ⁷ (Now the men who were traveling together with him stood speechless, because they* heard the voice but saw no one.) ⁸ So Saul got up from the ground, but although* his eyes were open he could see nothing. And leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus. ⁹ And he was _⌊unable to see_⌋* for three days, and he did not eat or drink. ¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple in Damascus _⌊named_⌋* Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias!" And he said, "Behold, here I am, Lord!" ¹¹ And the Lord said to him, "Get up, go to the street called 'Straight' and in the house of Judas look for _⌊a man named Saul from Tarsus_⌋.* For behold, he is praying, ¹² and he has seen in a vision a man _⌊named_⌋* Ananias coming in and placing hands* on him so that he may regain his sight." ¹³ But Ananias replied, "Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem, ¹⁴ and here he has authority from the chief priests to tie up* all who call upon your name!" ¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, "Go, because this man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before Gentiles* and kings and the sons of Israel. ¹⁶ For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name." ¹⁷ So Ananias departed and entered into the house, and placing his* hands on him, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." ¹⁸ And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight and got up and* was baptized, ¹⁹ and after* taking food, he regained his strength. And he was with the disciples in Damascus several days. ²⁰ And immediately he began proclaiming* Jesus in the synagogues: "This one is the Son of God!"

⁴⁵ But when* the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting what was being said by Paul by* reviling him.*

⁶ And when they* did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brothers before the city officials, shouting, "These people who have stirred up trouble throughout the world* have come here also,

⁵ For we have found* this man to be a public menace and one who causes riots among all the Jews throughout the Roman Empire* and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,

²² But we would like to hear from you what you think, for concerning this sect it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere."

³² Why that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if by works. They stumbled over the _⌊stone that causes people to stumble_⌋*,

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a cause for stumbling, but to the Gentiles foolishness,

¹⁵ For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, ¹⁶ to those on the one hand an odor from death to death, and to those on the other hand a fragrance from life to life. And who is qualified for these things?

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham as he* was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,*

⁷ Now without any dispute the inferior is blessed by the more prominent.

¹ Therefore, since* we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, putting aside every weight and _⌊the sin that so easily ensnares us_⌋*, let us run with patient endurance the race that has been set before us, ² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider the one who endured such hostility by sinners against himself,* so that you will not grow weary in your souls and give up.

⁷ Therefore the honor is for you who believe, but for those who refuse to believe,
"The stone that the builders rejected, this one has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋*," ⁸ and
"A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,"*
who stumble because they* disobey the word to which also they were consigned.

¹⁴ If you are reviled on account of the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

² And you shall remember all of the way that Yahweh your God led you during these forty years in the desert in order to humble you and to test you to know what is in your heart, whether you would diligently keep his commandments or not.

¹⁵ And the chiefs* in Issachar were with Deborah; and Issachar likewise was with Barak; into the valley _⌊he was sent to get him from behind_⌋.* Among the clans of Reuben were great _⌊decisions of the heart_⌋.* ¹⁶ Why do you sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the calling sounds of the herds? For the clans of Reuben, there were great searchings of the heart.

¹⁰ As with a shattering in my bones my oppressors taunt me, while they say to me _⌊all day_⌋,* "Where is your God?"

²⁴ But the Pharisees, when they* heard it,* said, "This man does not expel demons except by Beelzebul the ruler of demons!" ²⁵ But knowing their thoughts, he said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. ²⁶ And if Satan expels Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? ²⁷ And if I expel demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons expel them?* For this reason they will be your judges! ²⁸ But if I expel demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you! ²⁹ Or how can someone enter into the house of a strong man and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? And then he can thoroughly plunder his house. ³⁰ The one who is not with me is against me, and the one who does not gather with me scatters. ³¹ For this reason I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven! ³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him either in this age or in the coming one! ³³ "Either make the tree good and its fruit is good, or make the tree bad and its fruit is bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. ³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say good things when you* are evil? For from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ The good person from his* good treasury brings out good things, and the evil person from his* evil treasury brings out evil things.

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. ¹⁵ And he said to them, "You are the ones who justify themselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts! For what is considered exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

⁴² Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I have come forth from God and have come. For I have not come from myself, but that one sent me. ⁴³ _⌊Why_⌋* do you not understand my way of speaking? Because you are not able to listen to my message. ⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father! That one was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand firm in the truth, because truth is not in him. Whenever he speaks the lie, he speaks from his own nature,* because he is a liar and the father _⌊of lies_⌋.* ⁴⁵ But because I am telling the truth, you do not believe me. ⁴⁶ Who among you convicts me concerning sin? If I am telling the truth, _⌊why_⌋* do you not believe me? ⁴⁷ The one who is from God listens to the words of God. Because of this you do not listen—because you are not of God."

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. But now they do not have a valid excuse for their sin. ²³ The one who hates me hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

²⁵ Now his mother and the sister of his mother, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene were standing near the cross of Jesus.

²¹ _⌊You have no_⌋* part or share in this matter, because your heart is not right before God. ²² Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and ask the Lord if perhaps the intent of your heart may be forgiven you!" ²³ For I see you are in _⌊a state of bitter envy_⌋* and _⌊bound by unrighteousness_⌋."*

¹⁹ For indeed it is necessary that there be factions among you, in order that those who are approved may become evident among you.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But they went out*, in order that it might be shown that all of them are not of us.

¹³ Then Leah said, "How happy am I! For women have called me happy." So she called his name Asher.

²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took her* tambourine in her hand, and all of the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.

⁴ Now at that time Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging* Israel.

¹⁴ So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah the son of Harhas, the keeper of the robes. Now she was living in Jerusalem in the second district. Then they spoke to her,

²⁶ You shall come in maturity to the grave, as the raising up of a stack of sheaves in its season.

¹⁴ They will still prosper in old age. They will be fat and luxuriant,*

¹⁸ And even on my male slaves and on my female slaves I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

⁹ (_⌊Now this man had_⌋* four virgin daughters who prophesied.)

¹ Now concerning spiritual gifts,* brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.

⁶ from the tribe of Asher, twelve thousand,
from the tribe of Naphtali, twelve thousand,
from the tribe of Manasseh, twelve thousand,

⁸ And he made the basin of bronze and its stand of bronze from the mirrors of the serving women who served at the entrance of the tent of assembly.

² There is no one holy like Yahweh, for there is no one besides you, and there is no rock like our God.

² O my God, I call by day and you do not answer, and by night but I have no rest.*

⁶ Surely goodness and loyal love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will stay* in the house* of Yahweh _⌊for a very long time_⌋.*

⁴ One thing I have asked from Yahweh; it I will seek: that I may dwell in the house* of Yahweh all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Yahweh, and to consider* his temple.

⁴ Blessed are those who dwell in your house;* they can ever praise you. Selah

¹⁰ Because better is a day in your courtyards than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be at the threshold of the house* of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

¹³ Planted in the house* of Yahweh, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

¹ Praise Yah!* Praise the name of Yahweh. Praise him, O servants of Yahweh, ² who stand in the house* of Yahweh, in the courts of the house* of our God.

³³ And they said to him, "The disciples of John fast often and make prayers—likewise also the disciples* of the Pharisees—but yours are eating and drinking!"

³ Then, after they* had fasted and prayed and placed their* hands on them, they sent them* away.

²³ And when they* had appointed elders for them in every church, after* praying with fasting, they entrusted them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.

⁷ to which our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve him* night and day. Concerning this hope I am being accused by the Jews, O king!

⁵ But the widow who is one truly, and is left alone, has put her hope in God and continues in her petitions and prayers night and day.

¹² The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never go outside again, and I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God, and my new name.

¹⁵ Because of this, they are before the throne of God, and they serve* him day and night in his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne _⌊will shelter_⌋* them.

⁴⁶ And Mary said,
"My soul exalts the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced greatly in God my Savior, ⁴⁸ because he has looked upon the humble state of his female slave, for behold, from now on all generations will consider me blessed, ⁴⁹ because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. ⁵⁰ And his mercy is for generation after generation to those who fear him. ⁵¹ He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has dispersed the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. ⁵² He has brought down rulers from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly. ⁵³ He has filled those who are hungry with good things, and those who are rich he has sent away empty-handed. ⁵⁴ He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, ⁵⁵ just as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants _⌊forever_⌋."* ⁵⁶ And Mary stayed with her about three months, and returned to her home.

⁶⁴ And his mouth and his tongue were opened immediately, and he began to speak,* praising God.

²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem _⌊whose name was_⌋* Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

²⁸ he took him in his* arms and praised God and said, ²⁹ "Now dismiss your slave in peace, Lord, according to your word. ³⁰ For my eyes have seen your salvation

²¹ But we were hoping that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. But in addition to all these things, this is the third day _⌊since_⌋* these things took place.

¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

³ Blessed is* the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

³² * All of the things* that I am commanding you, _⌊you must diligently observe_⌋;* you shall not add to it, and you shall not take away from it."

²² But when he* heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream, he took refuge in the regions of Galilee. ²³ And he came and* lived in a town called Nazareth, in order that what was said by the prophets would be fulfilled:* "He will be called a Nazarene."

²¹ And when eight days were completed _⌊so that he could be circumcised_⌋,* he was named Jesus, his name that he was called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. ²² And when the days of their purification were completed according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him* to the Lord ²³ (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord")* ²⁴ and to offer a sacrifice according to what was stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."*

²⁴ The woman bore a son, and she called him Samson; the boy grew big, and Yahweh blessed him.

¹⁸ Now Samuel was serving before Yahweh, as a boy wearing a linen ephod.

²⁶ But the boy Samuel _⌊continued to grow in stature and in favor_⌋* with Yahweh and with the people.

¹⁹ And Samuel grew up, and Yahweh was with him. _⌊He did not allow any of his prophecies to go unfulfilled_⌋.*

⁹ Yet you took me from the belly; you made me trust while on my mother's breasts.

² You are the most handsome of the sons of humankind; grace is poured out on your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

¹ And a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from its roots will bear fruit. ² And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him— a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh. ³ And his _⌊breath_⌋* is in the fear of Yahweh. And he shall judge not by his eyesight, and he shall rebuke not by _⌊what he hears with_⌋* his ears. ⁴ But he shall judge the poor with righteousness, and he shall decide for the needy of the earth with rectitude. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and he shall kill the wicked person with the breath of his lips. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

⁸⁰ And the child kept growing and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

⁵² And Jesus was advancing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with people.

³³ And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on them all.

¹⁰ Finally, become strong in the Lord and in the might of his strength.

² so that their hearts may be encouraged, united in love and into all the wealth of the full assurance of insight into the knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ, ³ in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.

¹ You, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus,

¹⁴ "And this day will become a memorial for you, and you will celebrate it as a religious feast for Yahweh throughout your generations; you will celebrate it as a lasting statute.

¹⁴ " 'Three times in the year you will hold a festival for me. ¹⁵ You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you at the appointed time, the month of Abib, because in it you came out from Egypt, and _⌊no one will_⌋* appear before me empty-handed. ¹⁶ And you will keep the Feast of Harvest, with the firstfruits of your work, what you sow in the field. And you will keep the Feast of Harvest Gathering when the year goes out, when you gather your work from the field. ¹⁷ Three times in the year all your men will appear before the Lord Yahweh.

²³ Three times in the year all your males will appear before the Lord, Yahweh, the God of Israel,

⁵ In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month at the evening is Yahweh's Passover.

¹⁶ " 'On the fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover for Yahweh.

⁵ _⌊But only_⌋* to the place that Yahweh your God will choose from all of your tribes to place his name there as his dwelling shall you seek, and there you shall go. ⁶ And you shall bring there your burnt offerings and your sacrifices and your tithes and _⌊your donations_⌋* and your votive gifts and your freewill offerings and the firstling of your herd and your flock. ⁷ And you shall eat there _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice _⌊in all your endeavors_⌋,* you and your family in which Yahweh your God has blessed you.

¹¹ _⌊and then_⌋* at the place that Yahweh your God will choose, to let his name dwell there, there you shall bring all the things I am commanding you, your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and _⌊your donations_⌋,* and all of the choice things, your votive gifts that you vow to Yahweh.

¹⁸ But only _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh your God you shall eat it, at the place that Yahweh your God will choose,* you and your son and your daughter and your slave and your slave woman and the Levite who is in your _⌊towns_⌋,* and you must rejoice _⌊before_⌋* your God _⌊in all your undertakings_⌋.*

¹ "Observe the month of Abib, and you shall keep the Passover to Yahweh your God, for in the month of Abib Yahweh your God brought you out from Egypt by night. ² And you shall offer the Passover sacrifice to Yahweh your God from among your flock and herd at the place that Yahweh will choose, to let his name dwell there. ³ You shall not eat _⌊with it_⌋* anything leavened; seven days you shall eat _⌊with it_⌋* unleavened bread of affliction, because in haste you went out from the land of Egypt, so that you will remember the day of your going out from the land of Egypt all the days of your life. ⁴ And leaven shall not be seen with* you in any of your territory* for seven days, and none of the meat that you will slaughter on the evening on the first day shall remain overnight until morning. ⁵ You are not allowed to offer the Passover sacrifice in one of your _⌊towns_⌋* that Yahweh your God is giving to you, ⁶ but only at the place that Yahweh your God will choose, to let his name dwell there; you shall offer the Passover sacrifice _⌊in the evening at sunset_⌋,* at the designated time* of your going out from Egypt. ⁷ And you shall cook, and you shall eat it at the place that Yahweh your God will choose; and you may turn in the morning and go to your tents. ⁸ Six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be an assembly for Yahweh your God; you shall not do work.

¹⁶ Three times in the year all of your males shall appear _⌊before _⌋* Yahweh your God at the place that he will choose, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* empty-handed.

³ Now this man used to go up from his town _⌊year by year_⌋* to worship and to sacrifice to Yahweh of hosts in Shiloh, _⌊where_⌋* the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests to Yahweh.

²¹ So the man Elkanah went up with all his household _⌊to make the annual sacrifice_⌋* to Yahweh and to pay his vow.

¹³ And the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

⁴ (Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.)

⁵⁵ Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the surrounding country before the Passover, so that they could purify themselves.

¹ Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, and* having loved his* own in the world, loved them to the end.

¹⁵ You will eat unleavened bread for seven days. Surely on the first day you shall remove yeast from your houses, because anyone who eats food with yeast from the first day until the seventh day—that person will be cut off from Israel.

¹⁷ Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel, and he sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come,* _⌊let us face one another_⌋.*

²¹ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* who were found in Jerusalem kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with great joy. And the Levites and the priests were offering praise to Yahweh day by day, with powerful instruments to Yahweh. ²² And Hezekiah spoke to the heart of all the Levites _⌊who were skilled at service_⌋* to Yahweh. So they ate the feast seven days, offering peace offerings and giving thanks to Yahweh, the God of their ancestors.* ²³ Then the whole assembly decided to make seven more days of feasting, so they made seven more days with joy,

⁴ These I remember and I pour out my soul within me: that I would go with the multitude; I led them in procession to the house* of God, with a voice of rejoicing and thanksgiving, a crowd celebrating a festival.

I rejoiced in those who said to me, "Let us go to the house* of Yahweh." ² Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem— ³ Jerusalem that is built as a city that is joined together, ⁴ where the tribes go up, the tribes of Yah* as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of Yahweh.

³ many peoples shall come. And they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house* of the God of Jacob, and may he teach us part of his ways, and let us walk in his paths." For instruction shall go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

⁵ He said, "Go up for three days and then return to me"; so the people went away.

¹² Jeroboam and all of the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had spoken: "Return to me on the third day."

¹ Listen to me, coastlands, and listen attentively, peoples from far away! ⁴ The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of a pupil, to know how to help the weary with a word. He awakens _⌊morning by morning_⌋,* awakens an ear for me to listen as do the pupils.

⁴⁰ For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

²¹ From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while* that deceiver was still alive he said, 'After three days I will rise.' ⁶⁴ Therefore give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come and* steal him and tell the people, 'He has been raised from the dead,' and the last deception will be worse than the first."

⁴⁴ but believing him to be in the group of travelers, they went a day's journey. And they began searching for* him among their* relatives and their* acquaintances, ⁴⁵ and when they* did not find him,* they returned to Jerusalem to search for him.

¹⁷ And it happened that on one of the days as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there who _⌊had come_⌋* from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was there in order for him to heal.

³⁴ But a certain man stood up in the Sanhedrin,* a Pharisee _⌊named_⌋* Gamaliel, a teacher of the law respected by all the people, and* gave orders to put the men outside for a short time.

⁹⁹ I have more insight than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.

²⁸ And it happened when Jesus finished these words the crowds were amazed at his teaching,

²³ And Jesus, when he* began his ministry,* was himself about thirty years old, being the son (as it was believed) of Joseph the son of Eli,

⁸ 'I delight to do your will, O my God, and your law is _⌊deep within me_⌋.'"*

¹ "Look! I am going to send my messenger,* and he will prepare* the way _⌊before me_⌋.* And the Lord whom you are seeking will come suddenly to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you are taking pleasure—look!—he is about to come," says Yahweh of hosts.

¹² And Jesus entered the temple courts* and drove out all those who were selling and buying in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling doves.

¹⁶ And to the ones selling the doves he said, "Take these things away from here! Do not make my Father's house _⌊a marketplace_⌋!"* ¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."*

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.

¹⁷ But he answered* them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working."

³⁸ because I have come down from heaven not that I should do my will, but the will of the one who sent me.

²⁹ And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him."

⁴ It is necessary for us to do the deeds of the one who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work!

³² But they did not understand the statement, and they were afraid to ask him.

³⁹ And when they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.

⁴⁰ And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.

⁹ And the patriarchs, because they* were jealous of Joseph, sold him* into Egypt. And God was with him, ¹⁰ and rescued him from all his afflictions and granted him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And he appointed him ruler over Egypt and all* his household.

¹⁸ For the one who serves Christ in this way is well-pleasing to God and approved by people.
