¹ Now on the first day of the week, at very early dawn, they came back to the tomb bringing the fragrant spices which they had prepared. ² And they found the stone had been rolled away from the tomb, ³ but when they* went in, they did not find the body.* ⁴ And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men in gleaming clothing stood near them. ⁵ And as* they were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, "Why are you looking for the living among the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but has been raised! Remember how he spoke to you while he* was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of men who are sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise?" ⁸ And they remembered his words, ⁹ and when they* returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. ¹⁰ Now Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the others with them were telling these things to the apostles. ¹¹ And these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they refused to believe them. ¹² But Peter got up and* ran to the tomb, and bending over to look, he saw only the strips of linen cloth, and he went away to his home* wondering what had happened. ¹³ And behold, on that same day, two of them were traveling to a village _⌊named_⌋* Emmaus that was sixty stadia* distant from Jerusalem, ¹⁴ and they were conversing with one another about all these things that had happened. ¹⁵ And it happened that while they were conversing, and discussing, Jesus himself also approached and* began to go along with* them, ¹⁶ but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. ¹⁷ And he said to them, "What are these matters that you are discussing with one another as you* are walking along?" And they stood still, looking sad. ¹⁸ And one of them, _⌊named_⌋* Cleopas, answered and* said to him, "Are you the only one living near Jerusalem and not knowing the things that have happened in it in these days?" ¹⁹ And he said to them, "What things?" So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, a man who was a prophet, powerful in deed and word before God and all the people, ²⁰ and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over to a sentence of death, and crucified him. ²¹ But we were hoping that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. But in addition to all these things, this is the third day _⌊since_⌋* these things took place. ²² But also some women from among us astonished us, who were at the tomb early in the morning, ²³ and when they* did not find his body, they came back saying they had seen even a vision of angels, who said that he was alive! ²⁴ And some of those with us went out to the tomb and found it* like this, just as the women had also said, but him they did not see." ²⁵ And he said to them, "O foolish and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Was it not necessary that the Christ suffer these things and enter into his glory?" ²⁷ And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures. ²⁸ And they drew near to the village where they were going, and he acted as though he was going farther. ²⁹ And they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, because it is getting toward evening, and by this time the day is far spent." And he went in to stay with them. ³⁰ And it happened that when he reclined at the table with them, he took the bread and* gave thanks, and after* breaking it,* he gave it* to them. ³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became invisible to them. ³² And they said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?" ³³ And they got up that same hour and* returned to Jerusalem and found the eleven and those with them assembled, ³⁴ saying, "The Lord has really been raised, and has appeared to Simon!" ³⁵ And they began describing* _⌊what happened_⌋* on the road, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread. ³⁶ And while* they were saying these things, he himself stood there among them.* ³⁷ But they were startled and became terrified, and* thought they had seen a ghost. ³⁸ And he said to them, "Why are you frightened? And for what reason do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Look at my hands and my feet, that I am I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as _⌊you see that I have_⌋."* ⁴⁰ And when he* had said this, he showed them his* hands and his* feet. ⁴¹ And while* they were still disbelieving because of joy and were marveling, he said to them, "Do you have anything _⌊to eat_⌋* here?" ⁴² So they gave him a piece of broiled fish, ⁴³ and he took it* and* ate it* in front of them. ⁴⁴ And he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I* was still with you, that everything that is written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day, ⁴⁷ and repentance and the forgiveness* of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations,* beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I am sending out* what was promised by my Father upon you, but you stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." ⁵⁰ And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. ⁵¹ And it happened that while he was blessing them, he parted from them and was taken up into heaven. ⁵² And they worshiped him and* returned to Jerusalem with great joy. ⁵³ And they were _⌊continually_⌋* in the temple courts* praising God.

⁵⁵ And there were many women there, observing from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him, ⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

¹ Now after the Sabbath, at the dawning on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to view the tomb. ² And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came up and* rolled away the stone and sat down* on it. ³ Now his appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ And the guards trembled from the fear of him and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel answered and* said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying. ⁷ And go quickly, tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and behold, he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there.' Behold, I have told you." ⁸ And they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and* ran to tell his disciples.

⁴⁰ And there were also women observing from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger* and Joses,* and Salome,

¹ And when* the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome purchased fragrant spices so that they could go and* anoint him. ² And very early in the morning on the first day of the week they came to the tomb after* the sun had risen. ³ And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?" ⁴ And when they* looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away (for it was very large). ⁵ And as they* were going into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. ⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has been raised, he is not here! See the place where they laid him! ⁷ But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you." ⁸ And they went out and* fled from the tomb, because trembling and amazement had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.*

² and some women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (who was called Magdalene), from whom seven demons had gone out, ³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza (Herod's household manager), and Susanna, and many others who were helping to support them from their possessions.

⁵⁵ And the women who had been accompanying him from Galilee followed and* saw the tomb and how his body was placed. ⁵⁶ And they returned and* prepared fragrant spices and perfumes, and on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

¹⁰ Now Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the others with them were telling these things to the apostles.

¹ Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it* was still dark, and saw the stone had been taken away from the tomb. ² So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord from the tomb and we do not know where they have put him!"

⁶⁰ and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a large stone to the entrance of the tomb and* went away. ⁶¹ Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb. ⁶² Now on the next day, which is after the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled before Pilate, ⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while* that deceiver was still alive he said, 'After three days I will rise.' ⁶⁴ Therefore give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come and* steal him and tell the people, 'He has been raised from the dead,' and the last deception will be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it* as secure as you know how." ⁶⁶ So they went with the guard of soldiers and* made the tomb secure by* sealing the stone.

² And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came up and* rolled away the stone and sat down* on it.

⁴⁶ And after* purchasing a linen cloth and* taking him down, he wrapped him* in the linen cloth and placed him in a tomb that had been cut from the rock. And he rolled a stone over the entrance of the tomb. ⁴⁷ Now Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was placed.

³ And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?" ⁴ And when they* looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away (for it was very large). ⁵ And when* the disciples arrived at the other side,* they had forgotten to take bread.

²³ and when they* did not find his body, they came back saying they had seen even a vision of angels, who said that he was alive!

⁶ Then Simon Peter also came following him, and he went into the tomb and saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, ⁷ and the facecloth that was on his head—not lying with the strips of linen cloth, but folded up separately in one place.

² And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men were standing near* him. And he saw them and ran from the doorway of the tent to meet them. And he bowed down to the ground.

² And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came up and* rolled away the stone and sat down* on it. ³ Now his appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ And the guards trembled from the fear of him and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel answered and* said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.

⁵ And as they* were going into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

¹¹ But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then, while she was weeping, she bent over to look into the tomb, ¹² and she saw two angels in white, seated one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been lying.

¹⁰ And as they were staring into the sky while* he was departing, behold, two men in white clothing stood by them

¹⁷ And he came beside _⌊where I was standing_⌋,* and _⌊when he came_⌋* I became terrified and I fell prostrate on my face. And he said to me, "Understand, son of man,* that the vision is for the time of the end." ¹⁸ And _⌊when he spoke_⌋* with me I fell into a trance with my face to the ground, and he touched me and made me stand on by feet.

⁷ And I saw, I, Daniel _⌊alone_⌋,* the vision; and the people who were with me _⌊did not see_⌋* the vision; nevertheless, a great trembling fell upon them and they fled in order to hide themselves. ⁸ And I myself, Daniel, alone saw this great vision, and as a result _⌊no strength was left in me_⌋* and _⌊my complexion grew deathly pale_⌋,* and I did not retain any strength. ⁹ And I heard the sound of his words, and _⌊when I heard_⌋* the sound of his words I myself began falling into a trance on my face, _⌊with my face to the ground_⌋.* ¹⁰ And look, a hand touched me and it roused me to my knees* and the palms* of my hands. ¹¹ And he said to me, "Daniel, a man beloved, pay attention to the words that I am speaking to you and _⌊stand upright where you are_⌋,* for I have now been sent to you." And _⌊while he was speaking_⌋* with me this word,* I stood up trembling. ¹² And he said to me, "You must not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself _⌊before_⌋* your God, your words were heard, and I myself* have come because of your words.

¹⁶ Then look, there was _⌊one in the form of a human_⌋;* he touched my lips and I opened my mouth and I spoke and I said to the one standing _⌊before me_⌋,* "My lord, because of the vision my anxieties fell upon me and I have not retained my strength.

¹⁹ And he said, "You must not fear, O beloved man. _⌊Peace be to you_⌋;* be strong and be courageous!" And _⌊when he spoke_⌋* with me, I was strengthened and I said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

³ Now his appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ And the guards trembled from the fear of him and became like dead men. ⁵ But the angel answered and* said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

⁵ And as they* were going into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. ⁶ But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has been raised, he is not here! See the place where they laid him!

¹² And Zechariah was terrified when he* saw the angel,* and fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him,
"Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will call his name John.

²⁹ But she was greatly perplexed at the statement, and was pondering what sort of greeting this might be.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, "Cornelius." ⁴ And he stared at him and became terrified and* said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your charitable deeds have gone up for a memorial offering before God.

⁸ And in this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case it is testified that he lives.

¹⁸ and the one who lives, and I was dead, and behold, I am living _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.

⁸ "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
"This is what the first and the last says, who was dead and came to life:

⁴⁰ For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

²¹ From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

²² Now as* they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men,* ²³ and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised." And they were extremely distressed.

¹⁸ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, ¹⁹ and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock him* and flog him* and crucify him,* and on the third day he will be raised."

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while* that deceiver was still alive he said, 'After three days I will rise.'

⁶ He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.

³¹ And he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise.

⁹ And as* they were coming down from the mountain, he ordered them that they should tell no one the things that they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they kept the matter to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead _⌊meant_⌋.*

³⁰ And from there they went out and* passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, ³¹ for he was teaching his disciples and was telling them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he* is killed, after three days he will rise." ³² But they did not understand the statement, and they were afraid to ask him.

³³ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles. ³⁴ And they will mock him and spit on him and flog him and kill him,* and after three days he will rise."

²² saying, "It is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day.

⁴⁴ "_⌊You take these words to heart_⌋,* for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."

³¹ And taking aside the twelve, he said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written by the prophets with reference to the Son of Man will be accomplished. ³² For he will be handed over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and mistreated and spit on, ³³ and after* flogging him* they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise."

⁴⁴ And he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I* was still with you, that everything that is written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled." ⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!" ²⁰ Then the Jews said, "This temple has been under construction* forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?" ²¹ But he was speaking about the temple of his body. ²² So when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and the saying that Jesus had spoken.

¹⁶ (His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and they did these things to him.)

²⁶ But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

¹⁰ She went out and* announced it* to those who were with him while they* were mourning and weeping.

²² But also some women from among us astonished us, who were at the tomb early in the morning, ²³ and when they* did not find his body, they came back saying they had seen even a vision of angels, who said that he was alive! ²⁴ And some of those with us went out to the tomb and found it* like this, just as the women had also said, but him they did not see."

⁵⁶ among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

³⁰ And the apostles regathered to Jesus and reported to him everything that they had done and that they had taught.

⁴⁰ And there were also women observing from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger* and Joses,* and Salome, ⁴¹ who used to follow* him and serve him when he was in Galilee, and many other women who went up with him to Jerusalem.

⁹ Now early on the first day of the week, after he* rose, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had expelled seven demons. ¹⁰ She went out and* announced it* to those who were with him while they* were mourning and weeping. ¹¹ And those, when they* heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, refused to believe it.*

¹¹ But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then, while she was weeping, she bent over to look into the tomb, ¹² and she saw two angels in white, seated one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been lying. ¹³ And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him!" ¹⁴ When she* had said these things, she turned _⌊around_⌋* and saw Jesus standing there, and she did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She thought that it was the gardener, and* said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him." ¹⁶ Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned around and* said to him in Aramaic, "Rabboni" (which means "Teacher"). ¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.'" ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and* announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and he had said these things to her.

¹⁴ Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were taking* his daughters and said, "Get up! Go out from this place, because Yahweh is going to destroy the city!" But _⌊it seemed like a joke_⌋* in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

² Then the officer _⌊on whom the king relied_⌋* answered the man of God and said, "Look, even if Yahweh is making windows in heaven, could this thing happen?" And he said, "Look, you will be seeing it with your eyes, but you shall not eat from it there."

¹⁶ If I summon him, and he should answer me, I do not believe that he will listen to my voice—

¹¹ And those, when they* heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, refused to believe it.*

²⁵ And he said to them, "O foolish and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

⁹ And he went out and* was following him.* And he did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but was thinking he was seeing a vision.

³ Then Peter and the other disciple went out and were going to the tomb. ⁴ And the two were running together, and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first. ⁵ And bending over to look, he saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, though he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter also came following him, and he went into the tomb and saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, ⁷ and the facecloth that was on his head—not lying with the strips of linen cloth, but folded up separately in one place. ⁸ So then the other disciple who had come to the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed. ⁹ (For they did not yet know the scripture that it was necessary for him to rise from the dead.) ¹⁰ Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.*

¹² And after these things, he appeared in a different form to two of them as they* were walking, while they* were going out into the countryside. ¹³ And these went and* reported it* to the others, and they did not believe them.

¹⁸ And one of them, _⌊named_⌋* Cleopas, answered and* said to him, "Are you the only one living near Jerusalem and not knowing the things that have happened in it in these days?"

⁷ And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up.

⁶ "For I, Yahweh, have not changed,* and you, O children of Jacob, have not perished.*

⁴⁵ The good person out of the good treasury of his heart brings forth good, and the evil person out of his* evil treasury* brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them."

³⁶ And while* they were saying these things, he himself stood there among them.*

¹⁸ "I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you. ¹⁹ Yet a little time and the world will see me no longer, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live.

¹⁸ They came down to him, and Elisha prayed to Yahweh and said, "Please strike this people with blindness," so he struck them with blindness as _⌊Elisha had spoken_⌋.* ¹⁹ Then Elisha said to them, "This is not the way and this is not the city. Come after me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." Then he brought them to Samaria. ²⁰ It happened at the moment they came to Samaria, Elisha said, "O Yahweh, open the eyes of these that they may see," so Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw, and look, the middle of Samaria!

¹² And after these things, he appeared in a different form to two of them as they* were walking, while they* were going out into the countryside.

³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became invisible to them.

¹⁴ When she* had said these things, she turned _⌊around_⌋* and saw Jesus standing there, and she did not know that it was Jesus.

⁴ Now when it* was already early morning, Jesus stood on the beach. However, the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men _⌊who are groaning and lamenting_⌋* about all of the detestable things _⌊that are being done_⌋* in the midst of her." ⁵ And to the others he said in my hearing, "Go through the city behind him and kill! Your eyes shall not take pity, and you shall not have compassion. ⁶ You must kill _⌊totally_⌋* old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but _⌊concerning_⌋* every man _⌊with the mark on him_⌋* you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who _⌊were before_⌋* the house.*

⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts.

²⁰ Truly, truly I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will change to joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, experiences pain because her hour has come. But when her* child is born, she no longer remembers the affliction, on account of the joy that a human being has been born into the world. ²² So you also are experiencing sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.

²⁵ Now his mother and the sister of his mother, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene were standing near the cross of Jesus.

¹¹ And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee!"

²⁴ saying, "_⌊Leave us alone_⌋,* Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"

¹⁶ And fear seized them all, and they began to glorify* God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has visited to help his people!"

² This man came to him at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are* a teacher who has come from God, for no one is able to perform these signs that you are performing unless God were with him."

¹⁹ The woman said to him, "Sir, I see that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ Now when* the people saw the sign that he performed, they began to say,* "This one is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world!"

⁴⁰ Then, when they* heard these words, some from the crowd began to say,* "This man is truly the Prophet!" ⁴¹ Others were saying, "This man is the Christ!" But others were saying, "No, for the Christ does not come from Galilee, does he?* ⁴² Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"

⁵² They answered and said to him, "You are not also from Galilee, are you?* Investigate and see that a prophet does not arise from Galilee!"

²⁰ And they went out and* proclaimed everywhere, while* the Lord was working together with them* and confirming the message through the accompanying signs.

⁴⁶ And every day, devoting themselves to meeting* with one purpose in the temple courts* and breaking bread from house to house, they were eating their food with joy and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding every day to the total of those who were being saved.

⁴¹ So they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin* rejoicing, because they had been considered worthy to be dishonored for the sake of the name. ⁴² Every day, both in the temple courts* and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ* was Jesus.
