I lift up my eyes to the mountains; whence will my help come? ² My help is from Yahweh, maker of heaven and earth. ³ He will not allow your foot to be moved; he who protects you will not slumber. ⁴ Look, he will not slumber and he will not sleep— he who protects Israel. ⁵ Yahweh is your protector; Yahweh is your shade at your right hand. ⁶ The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ Yahweh will protect you from all evil;* he will protect your life. ⁸ Yahweh will protect your going out and your coming in from now until forever.

⁶ "But as for me, I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

¹⁵ A mountain of God* is the mountain of Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. ¹⁶ Why do you look with hostility, O many-peaked mountains? This* mountain God desires for his dwelling. Yes, Yahweh will abide in it forever.

⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* that he loved.

In my distress I called to Yahweh, and he answered me.

I lift up my eyes to you, the one enthroned* in the heavens.

³ many peoples shall come. And they shall say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house* of the God of Jacob, and may he teach us part of his ways, and let us walk in his paths." For instruction shall go out from Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

²³ Surely, an illusion comes from the hills, the turmoil on the mountains. Surely, in Yahweh our God is the salvation of Israel.

God is our refuge and strength, a very sufficient help in troubles.

¹⁵ May you be blessed by Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.

⁸ Our help is in the name of Yahweh, maker of heaven and earth.

⁵ Blessed is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is on Yahweh as his God, ⁶ who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, the one who keeps faith* forever,

²⁸ Have you not known, or have you not heard? Yahweh is the God of eternity, the creator of the ends of the earth! He is not faint, and he does not grow weary! There is no searching his understanding. ²⁹ He gives power to the weary, and he increases power for _⌊the powerless_⌋.*

¹³ For I, Yahweh your God, am grasping your right hand; _⌊it is I who say_⌋* to you, "You must not fear; I myself, I will help you.

¹¹ But Yahweh is with me like a powerful warrior. _⌊Therefore_⌋* my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. They will be very ashamed, for they will not achieve success. Their _⌊everlasting insult_⌋* will not be forgotten.

⁹ I will destroy you,* O Israel; who will help you?*

⁶ So then, we can say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.* What will man do to me?"*

⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful* ones, but the wicked will be destroyed* in the darkness, because a man will not prevail by his might.

² Yahweh protects him and keeps him alive; he is blessed in the land, and you do not give him into the will* of his enemies.

⁹ the one who has kept our soul among the living, and has not allowed our foot to slip.

¹² In their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

Unless Yahweh builds a house, its builders labor at it in vain. Unless Yahweh guards a city, a guard watches in vain.

⁸ in order to guard paths of justice and keep* the way of his faithful ones.

²³ Then you will walk in the confidence of your ways, and your foot will not stumble.

²⁶ Yahweh will be _⌊your confidence_⌋* and guard your foot from capture.

³ I, Yahweh, am her keeper; I water it _⌊again and again_⌋.* Lest one afflict harm on it, I guard it night and day;

⁵ who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time,

²⁷ It happened at noon that Elijah mocked them and said, "Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god! Perhaps he is meditating, or _⌊is using the bathroom_⌋,* or is on a journey. Perhaps he is asleep and must wake up!"

Yahweh is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the refuge of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

⁷ You are my hiding place; from trouble you preserve me. With cries of deliverance you surround me. Selah ⁸ I* will instruct you and teach you in the way that you should go. I will advise you with my eye upon you.

¹⁶ I applied my mind to know wisdom and to understand the business that is done on earth—how neither day nor night one's eyes see sleep.

¹⁵ Because of this, they are before the throne of God, and they serve* him day and night in his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne _⌊will shelter_⌋* them.

²¹ And Yahweh was going before them by day in a column of cloud to lead them on the way and by night in a column of fire to give light to them to go by day and night.

⁸ I have set Yahweh before me always. Because he is at my right hand I will not be shaken.

¹ One who lives in the secret place* of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of Shaddai.*

³¹ for he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those judging his life.*

⁵ Then Yahweh will create over all of the site* of _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* and over her assembly a cloud by day and smoke and the brightness of flaming fire by night. Indeed, over all the glory there will be a canopy, ⁶ and it will be a shelter for shade from the heat by day, and a refuge and a hiding place from rainstorm and from rain.

⁴ For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless was like a rainstorm against a wall,*

² And each one will be like a hiding place from the wind and a covering from the rainstorm, like streams of water in a dry region, like the shade of a large rock in a weary land.

³⁷ "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together _⌊the way_⌋* a hen gathers her young together under her* wings, and you were not willing!

⁵ You need not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day, ⁶ or the plague that spreads in the darkness, or the destruction that devastates at noon. ⁷ A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. ⁸ You will only look with your eyes, and see the punishment of the wicked. ⁹ For you, O Yahweh, are my refuge. You have made the Most High your dwelling place.* ¹⁰ No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent.

¹⁰ They shall not be hungry or thirsty, and heat and sun shall not strike them, for he who takes pity on them will lead them, and he will guide them to springs of water.

⁸ _⌊And when the sun rose_⌋,* God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head and he grew faint. _⌊And he asked that he could die_⌋* and said, "My death is better than my life!"

¹⁶ They will not be hungry any longer or be thirsty any longer, nor will the sun ever beat down on them, nor any heat,*

¹⁹ _⌊From_⌋* six troubles he will deliver you, and in seven evil shall not touch you. ²⁰ In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the _⌊power of_⌋* the sword. ²¹ From the scourge of the tongue you shall be hidden, and you shall not be afraid of* destruction when it comes. ²² At destruction and famine* you shall laugh, and you shall not fear the wild animals of the earth. ²³ For your covenant will be with the stones of the field, and the wild animals* of the field will be at peace with you. ²⁴ And you shall know that your tent is safe, and you will inspect your fold, and you shall not be missing anything. ²⁵ And you shall know that your offspring are many, and your descendants like the vegetation of the earth. ²⁶ You shall come in maturity to the grave, as the raising up of a stack of sheaves in its season. ²⁷ "Look, we have searched this out—it is true; hear it and know it _⌊yourself_⌋."*

²² Yahweh redeems the life of his servants, and none who take refuge in him will incur guilt.

⁹ For you, O Yahweh, are my refuge. You have made the Most High your dwelling place.* ¹⁰ No harm will befall you, and no plague will come near your tent. ¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways. ¹² In their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

¹⁰ You who love Yahweh, hate evil. He protects the lives of his faithful; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

²⁰ Yahweh protects all those who love him, but all the wicked he will exterminate.

²¹ _⌊No evil will happen_⌋* to the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.

¹³ And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.*

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose,

³⁵ Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction or distress or persecution or hunger or lack of sufficient clothing or danger or the sword? ³⁶ Just as it is written,
"On account of you we are being put to death the whole day long; we are considered as sheep for slaughter."* ³⁷ No, but in all these things we prevail completely through the one who loved us. ³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁸ The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will save me for his heavenly kingdom, to whom be the glory _⌊forever and ever_⌋*. Amen.

¹⁹ "You shall be cursed _⌊when you come in_⌋,* and you shall be cursed _⌊when you go out_⌋.*

² _⌊For some time_⌋,* when Saul was king over us, _⌊you were leading Israel in and out_⌋.* Yahweh had said to you, 'You shall be the shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be the leader over Israel.'"

²¹ I proclaimed a fast there at the river Ahava to humble ourselves before our God in order to seek from him a safe journey for us, our children, and our possessions.

³¹ On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the river of Ahava to go to Jerusalem. The hand of our God was on us and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushing on the way.

² Let the name of Yahweh be blessed, from now until forever.

¹⁸ It is we, we will bless Yah* from now until forever. Praise Yah!*

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths.

¹³ Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there, and carry on business and make a profit," ¹⁴ you who do not know _⌊what will happen tomorrow_⌋*, _⌊what your life will be like_⌋*. For you are a smoky vapor that appears for a short time and then disappears. ¹⁵ Instead you should say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." ¹⁶ But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
