⁴ he has been puffed up, understanding nothing, but is sick concerning doubts and arguments, out of which comes envy, strife, evil-speakings, evil suspicions,

⁷ There are those who act rich, yet have nothing at all; and those who act poor, yet have great wealth.

¹⁴ A man boasting himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind, but with no rain.

¹² Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

⁴ Look! You fast for strife, and for debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. Do not fast as today, to sound your voice in the high place.

⁹ But a certain man named Simon had long been conjuring in the city and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one.

²¹ There is neither part nor lot to you in this matter, for your heart is not upright before the face of God. ²² Repent, then, from this wickedness of yours, and petition God if perhaps you will be forgiven the thought of your heart. ²³ For I see you being in the gall of bitterness and a bundle of unrighteousness.

² Then dissension and not a little disputation with them having taken place by Paul and Barnabas, they appointed Paul and Barnabas and some others of them to go up into Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this question.

¹⁵ But if it is a question about a word, and names, and the law according to you, you will see to it yourselves; for I do not wish to be a judge of these things.

⁸ but to those even disobeying the truth, out of self interest, and obeying unrighteousness, will be anger and wrath,

¹⁶ minding the same thing toward one another, not minding high things, but yielding to the lowly. Do not become wise within yourselves.

¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in carousings and drunkennesses, not in co-habitation and lustful acts, not in fighting and envy.

¹ And receive the one who is weak in the faith, not to judgments of your thoughts.

³ For you are yet fleshly. For where among you is jealousy, and strife, and divisions, are you not fleshly and walk according to man?

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself, if anyone thinks to be wise among you in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become wise.

¹ But concerning the sacrifices to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. ² But if anyone thinks to know anything, he still has known nothing as he ought to know.

¹⁶ But if anyone thinks to be contentious, we do not have such a custom, nor the churches of God.

¹⁸ Indeed, first, I hear divisions to be among you when you come together in the church. And I believe some part.

²⁰ For you endure if anyone enslaves you, if anyone devours, if anyone takes away from you, if anyone exalts self, if anyone beats you in the face.

¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you are not consumed by one another.

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, wild parties, and things like these; of which I tell you beforehand, as I also said before, that the ones practicing such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁶ Let us not become glory seeking ones, provoking one another, envying one another.

³ For if anyone thinks to be something, he deceives himself, being nothing.

¹⁵ Some, indeed, even proclaim Christ because of envy and strife, but some also because of good will.

³ doing nothing according to party spirit or self-glory, but in humility, esteeming one another to surpass themselves;

¹⁴ Do all things without murmurings and disputings,

¹⁸ Let no one condemn you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, pushing into things which he has not seen, being puffed up by the mind of his flesh without a cause,

⁴ the one opposing and exalting himself over everything being called God, or object of worship, so as for him "to sit in the temple of God" as God, proclaiming that he himself is God. Dan. 11:36; Eze. 28:2

⁴ nor to give heed to fables and to endless genealogies, which occasion doubts, rather than a stewardship of God in faith,

⁷ wishing to be teachers of law, neither understanding what they say, nor about that which they confidently affirm.

⁶ He should not be a novice, lest being puffed up he may fall into the Devil's judgment.

¹⁴ Remind them of these things, solemnly testifying before the Lord not to dispute about words for nothing useful, to the throwing down of those hearing.

²³ But refuse the foolish and uninstructed questionings, knowing that they generate quarrels.

⁴ betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

⁹ But keep back from foolish questionings and genealogies and arguments and quarrels of law, for they are unprofitable and vain.

¹⁹ So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

¹⁴ My brothers, what is the gain if anyone says he has faith, but he does not have works? Is faith able to save him? ¹⁵ But if a brother or a sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain is it ? ¹⁷ So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead being by itself. ¹⁸ But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith out of my works.

¹ From where do wars and fightings among you come ? Is it not from this, from your lusts warring in your members? ² You desire greatly and do not have. You murder, and are jealous, and are not able to obtain. You fight and you war, and you do not have, because you do not ask God .

⁵ Or do you think that vainly the Scripture says, The spirit which has dwelt in us yearns to envy? No OT passage ⁶ But He gives greater grace. Because of this it says, "God sets Himself against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones." Prov. 3:34

¹ Then having laid aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil words, ² as newborn babes desire the pure soul-nourishing milk, that you may grow by it;

¹² But these as unreasoning natural beasts, having been born for capture and corruption, speaking evil in that of which they are ignorant, they shall utterly perish in their corruption,

¹⁸ For speaking great swelling words of vanity, by the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lusts, they allure those indeed escaping the ones living in error,

¹⁰ But what things they do not know, they speak evil of these. And what things they understand naturally, like the animals without reason, they are corrupted by these.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, having gone according to their lusts, and their mouth speaks proud things, admiring faces for the sake of gain.

¹⁷ Because you say, I am rich, and I am made rich, and I have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
