³ For you say, What will it benefit you? What shall I profit more than if I had sinned?

²¹ though I were perfect, I would not know my own soul; I despise my life. ²² It is One; so then I said He is consuming the perfect and the wicked.

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow, and make my hands clean with soap, ³¹ yet You will plunge me into the ditch, and my own clothes would abhor me.

¹⁵ If I am wrong, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I will not lift up my head, being filled with shame and seeing my pain.

¹⁵ What is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what do we profit if we entreat Him?

² For what is the portion from God above? And what is the legacy from the Almighty on high?

⁹ For he has said, It is no benefit for a man when he is accepted with God.

¹³ Surely I have purified my heart in vain; and I have washed my hands in innocence.

¹⁴ You have said, It is vain to serve God. And, What profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked as mourners before Jehovah of hosts?
