¹ And after six days, Jesus took Peter and James, and his brother John, and brought them up into a high mountain apart.

³⁷ And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to grieve and to be deeply troubled.

² And after six days Jesus takes along Peter and James and John, and leads them into a high mount apart, alone. And He was transfigured before them. ³ And His garments became shining, very white like snow, such as a fuller on earth is not able to whiten. ⁴ And Elijah with Moses was seen by them, and they were speaking with Jesus. ⁵ And answering, Peter said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and, Let us make three tents, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁶ For he did not know what to say, for they were very fearful. ⁷ And a cloud was overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son," the Beloved; hear Him. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Deut. 18:15 ⁸ And suddenly, looking around, they saw no one any longer, but Jesus alone with themselves. ⁹ And as they were coming down from the mount, He commanded them that they should tell no one what they saw, except when the Son of man should rise from the dead. ¹⁰ And they held the word to themselves, debating what it is to rise from the dead. ¹¹ And they asked Him, saying, Do the scribes say that Elijah must come first? ¹² And answering, He said to them, Indeed, Elijah coming first restores all things. And how it has been written of the Son of man that He suffer many things and be despised! ¹³ But I say to you, Elijah also has come and they did to him whatever they desired, even as it has been written of him.

⁵¹ And coming into the house, He did not allow anyone to enter, except Peter and James and John, and the father and mother of the child.

²⁸ And about eight days after these sayings, it happened: also taking Peter and John and James, He went into the mountain to pray. ²⁹ And in His praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing was dazzling white. ³⁰ And, behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah. ³¹ Appearing in glory, they spoke of His exodus, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and those with him were pressed down with sleep. But fully awakening, they saw His glory, and the two men standing with Him. ³³ And it happened in their parting from Him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here. And, Let us make three tents, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah, not knowing what he said. ³⁴ And he saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them. And they feared as those entered into the cloud. ³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the Beloved; hear Him! Psa. 2:7; Isa. 42:1; Deut. 18:15 ³⁶ And as the voice occurred, Jesus was found alone. And they were quiet. And they reported to no one in those days, nothing which they had seen.
