¹ As streams of waters, the king's heart is in the hand of Jehovah; He turns it wherever He desires. ² Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes, but Jehovah measures the hearts. ³ For Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice is to be chosen more than sacrifice. ⁴ High eyes, a proud heart, and the lamp of the wicked, is sin. ⁵ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenty, but those of every hasty one only to poverty. ⁶ The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven by those who seek death. ⁷ The violence of the wicked drags them down, because they refuse to do justice. ⁸ The way of a guilty man is perverted; but the pure, his work is right. ⁹ It is better to dwell on a corner of a housetop, than with a contentious woman, and to share a house. ¹⁰ The soul of the wicked desires evil, his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes. ¹¹ The simple is made wise when the scorner is punished, and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge. ¹² The Righteous One wisely considers the house of the wicked: He overthrows the wicked for his evil. ¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he himself shall also call, and shall not be answered. ¹⁴ A gift in secret subdues anger; yea, a bribe in the bosom quiets great fury. ¹⁵ It is joy to the just to do justice, but ruin shall come to the workers of evil. ¹⁶ The man who wanders out of the way of prudence shall rest in the congregation of departed spirits. ¹⁷ A man who loves pleasure shall be poor, he who loves wine and oil shall not be rich. ¹⁸ The wicked shall be a ransom for the just, and the treacherous in the place of the upright. ¹⁹ It is better to live in a land of the wilderness than with a woman of strivings and vexations. ²⁰ A desirable treasure and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man devours it. ²¹ He who pursues righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor. ²² A wise one ascends the city of the mighty and topples the strength in which it trusts. ²³ Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from distresses. ²⁴ Proud, haughty scorner is his name, he who deals in proud wrath. ²⁵ The lust of the lazy man kills him, for his hands have refused to work. ²⁶ He lusts with lust all the day long, but the righteous gives and does not withhold. ²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is hateful, how much more when he brings it with an evil intent! ²⁸ A false witness shall perish, but the man who attends will speak forever. ²⁹ A wicked man hardens his face, but the upright establishes his way. ³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel before Jehovah. ³¹ The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but to Jehovah belongs deliverance.

²² And they performed the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy. For Jehovah had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to make their hands strong in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

²⁷ Blessed be Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who has put this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah in Jerusalem. ²⁸ And He has extended mercy to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king's mighty leaders. And I was made strong, as the hand of Jehovah my God was on me. And I gathered out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

¹¹ O Lord, I beg You, let Your ear be open to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who delight to fear Your name. And I beg You, bless Your servant today and grant him mercy before this man. For I was cupbearer to the king.

⁴ Then the king said to me, For what do you ask? So I prayed to the God of Heaven,

¹⁵ You divided the fountain and the torrent; You dried up mighty rivers.

⁴ Jehovah on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea.

²⁵ He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

⁴⁶ And He gave them to tender mercies before all their captors.

³ The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back;

⁵ What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?

¹ The orderings of the heart are for man, and the answer of the tongue from Jehovah.

⁹ A man's heart plans his way, but Jehovah fixes his step.

²⁴ The steps of a man are from Jehovah, and what can man discern of his way?

¹⁹ Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall sprout. Shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

²⁷ He says to the deep, Be a waste! And I will dry up your rivers!

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing. And He does according to His will among the army of Heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth. And no one is able to strike His hand or say to Him, What are You doing?

¹⁰ and plucked him out from all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh appointed him governor over Egypt and all his household.

⁴ And the third angel poured out his bowl onto the rivers, and onto the fountains of the waters; and it became blood.

¹² And the sixth angel poured out his bowl onto the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up so that might be prepared the way of the kings from the rising of the sun.

⁷ And Jehovah said to Samuel, Do not look on his appearance, nor to the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For man does not see what He sees. For man looks for the eyes, but Jehovah looks for the heart.

² For he flatters himself in his own eyes in order to find his iniquity, in order to hate it .

² All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but Jehovah weighs the spirits.

²⁵ There is a way that seems right to a man's face, but the end of it is the ways of death.

⁶ Most men will proclaim each his own kindness, but who can find a faithful man?

¹² For you say, Behold, we did not know this. Does not He who weighs the heart consider it? And the Keeper of your soul, does He not know? Yea, He repays to a man according to his work.

¹² a generation pure in its own eyes, and yet not washed from its own filth.

¹⁰ I, Jehovah, search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

¹⁵ And He said to them, You are those justifying yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for the thing highly prized among men is a hateful thing before God.

¹¹ The Pharisee was standing, praying these things to himself: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe all things, as many as I get.

²⁴ But Jesus Himself did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all, ²⁵ and because He had no need that anyone should witness concerning man, for He knew what was in man.

³ For if anyone thinks to be something, he deceives himself, being nothing.

²² But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches will know that I am the One searching the inner parts and hearts. And I will give to each of you according to your works.

²² And Samuel said, Does Jehovah delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To give attention is better than the fat of rams.

⁸ I will not reprove you for your sacrifices; yea, your burnt offerings are continually before Me;

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is a hateful thing to Jehovah, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

¹¹ What good to Me are your many sacrifices, says Jehovah? I am full of burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fattened cattle, and the blood of bulls; nor do I delight in the blood of lambs and he goats. ¹² When you come to see My face, who has required this at your hand, to trample My courts? ¹³ Do not add to bringing vain sacrifice; its incense is an abomination to Me. I cannot endure the new moon and sabbath, the going to meeting, and the evil assembly. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to Me. I am weary of bearing them . ¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, purify yourselves. Put away the evil of your doings from My sight; stop doing evil. ¹⁷ Learn to do good, seek justice, reprove the oppressor, judge the orphan, strive for the widow.

²¹ So says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat flesh. ²² For I did not speak to your fathers, nor command them in the day that I brought them out from the land of Egypt, concerning matters of burnt offerings and sacrifices. ²³ But I commanded them this thing, saying, Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. Also, Walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, so that it may be well with you.

⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

⁶ With what shall I come before Jehovah, to bow myself before the loftiness of God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves, sons of a year? ⁷ Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of torrents of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ O man, He has declared to you what is good. And what does Jehovah require of you, but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

³³ "and to love Him from all the heart", and from all the understanding, "and from all the soul, and from all the strength;" Deut. 6:4, 5 and "to love one's neighbor as oneself" Lev. 19:18 is more than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices.

⁴ Through pride of his face, the wicked will not seek; there is no God in all of his schemes.

¹⁷ a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

¹³ The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; I hate pride and loftiness, and the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

²⁷ The sacrifice of the wicked is hateful, how much more when he brings it with an evil intent!

¹³ There is a generation, Oh how lofty are its eyes! And its eyelids are lifted up,

¹¹ The lofty eyes of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be bowed down; but Jehovah, He alone, will be exalted in that day.

¹⁷ And the pride of man shall be humbled; and the loftiness of men shall be abased; and Jehovah alone will be exalted in that day.

¹⁶ And Jehovah says, Because the daughters of Zion are proud, and walk with stretched out necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and make a tinkling with their feet;

¹⁴ I say to you, this one went down to his house having been justified, rather than that one. For everyone exalting himself will be humbled. And the one humbling himself will be exalted.

²³ But the one doubting, if he eats, he has been condemned, because it is not of faith; and whatever is not of faith is sin.

⁵ Likewise, younger ones be subject to older ones; and all being subject to one another. Put on humility, because God sets Himself "against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones." Prov. 3:34

⁴ He who deals with a lazy palm becomes poor, but the hand of the hard worker makes him rich.

⁴ The sluggard's soul is craving, but is not getting, but the soul of the hard workers shall be made fat.

²⁹ One slow to anger is of great understanding, but he who is short of spirit exalts folly.

²¹ An inheritance may be gotten quickly in the beginning, but the end of it shall not be blessed.

²³ Know well the face of your flock; set your heart on your herds, ²⁴ for wealth is not forever, nor the crown from generation to generation. ²⁵ When the hay is removed, and the tender grass is seen, and the mountain plants are taken up, ²⁶ The lambs will be for your clothing, and the he goats the price for a field, ²⁷ and there will be goat's milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the life of your maidens.

²² A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth, but he does not know that poverty will come on him.

²⁸ The one stealing, let him steal no more, but rather let him labor, working what is good with the hands, that he may have something to give to the one that has need.

¹¹ And eagerly aspiring to be quiet, and to do your own things, and to work with your own hands, as we enjoined you, ¹² that you may walk becomingly toward those outside, and that you may have need of nothing.

³⁶ But he who sins against me does violence to his own soul; all who hate me love death.

² Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

¹¹ Wealth from vanity shall be diminished, but he who gathers by labor shall increase.

¹⁴ Bad! Bad! says the buyer, but when it is left to him, then he boasts.

⁸ He who sows injustice will reap evil, and the rod of his wrath shall fail.

⁸ Remove vanity and a lying word far from me, do not give me poverty or riches; tear for me my portion of bread,

¹¹ As a partridge broods and does not hatch, so is he who makes riches, and not by right; it will leave him in the middle of his days, and in his end he will be a fool.

³¹ Cast away all your transgressions from you by which you have transgressed in them, and make for yourselves a new heart and a new spirit; for why will you die, O house of Israel?

⁹ But those having purposed to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and loss. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, by means of which some having lusted after it were seduced from the faith, and they themselves pierced through by many pains.

¹¹ whose mouth you must stop, who overturn whole houses, teaching things which they ought not for the sake of ill gain.

³ And by covetousness, with well-turned words, they will use you for gain, for whom judgment of old does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

¹⁶ His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violence shall come down on his own crown.

¹⁶ Jehovah has been known, He has executed judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. A meditation, Selah.

¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own souls. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gets unjust gain; it takes away its owner's soul.

⁶ Blessings are on the head of the just, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

²¹ He who pursues righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor.

²² Rob not the poor because he is poor, and oppress not the afflicted in the gate. ²³ For Jehovah will contend for their cause, and will plunder the soul of their plunderers.

²³ Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards. They do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them, ²⁴ and says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Alas! I will be eased of My foes, and avenge Myself of My enemies.

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know? ¹⁰ And will you then come and stand before Me in this house on which My name is called, and say, We are delivered in order to do all those detestable things. ¹¹ Has this house on which My name is called become a den of violent ones in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen, declares Jehovah.

¹⁵ And I will cast you out from My face as I cast out all your brothers, all the seed of Ephraim.

¹⁸ His father, because he did extortion, robbed his brother by robbery, and did what is not good among his people, behold, even he shall die in his iniquity.

¹³ And behold! I have struck My palm against your unjust gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in your midst. ¹⁴ Can your heart stand, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I, Jehovah, have spoken, and I will act.

⁹ Please hear this, heads of the house of Jacob, and magistrates of the house of Israel, you who abhor justice and pervert all equity. ¹⁰ those building up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity: ¹¹ Her leaders judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they will lean on Jehovah, saying, is not Jehovah among us? No evil shall come on us! ¹² Therefore, on account of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house into high places of the forest.

³ And he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth. For from now on everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it; and everyone who swears from now on shall be cut off according to it. ⁴ And I will bring it forth, says Jehovah of hosts. And it shall go into the house of the thief, and into the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall devour it, and its timber, and its stones.

⁶ Let no one deceive you with empty words, for through these the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience.

⁵ And Jehovah saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day long. ⁶ And Jehovah repented that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved to His heart.

¹² And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupted. For all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth.

¹⁴ What is man that he should be clean? And he born of a woman, that he should be righteous? ¹⁵ Behold, He puts no trust in His holy ones; yea, the heavens are not clean in His eyes. ¹⁶ How much more is filthy man loathed, who drinks iniquity like water!

² Jehovah looked down from Heaven on the sons of mankind, to see if there were any discerning and seeking God: ³ they have all turned aside; together they have become filthy; there is none doing good; not even one!

¹⁵ whose paths are crooked, who are devious in their tracks.

²⁶ The thoughts of the wicked are very hateful to Jehovah, but the words of pleasantness are pure.

²⁹ Behold, this only I have found, that God has made man upright, but they have sought out many inventions.

³ This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart throughout their lives; and after that, they go to the dead.

¹⁰ Many shall be purified and made white and tested. But the wicked shall do wickedly. And not one of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

³³ Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by the fruit.

⁹ And He made distinction in nothing between both us and them, having purified their hearts by faith.

³ For you are yet fleshly. For where among you is jealousy, and strife, and divisions, are you not fleshly and walk according to man?

² in which you then walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves in times past in the lusts of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of the understandings, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹⁵ Truly, all things are pure to the pure, but to the ones having been defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but even their mind and conscience has been defiled.

¹⁴ who gave Himself on our behalf, "that He might redeem us from all iniquity" "and purify" "a people" "for His own possession," zealous of good works. Psa. 130:8; Eze. 37:23; Deut. 14:2

³ For we also once were senseless, disobedient, led astray, slaving for various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

⁵ not by works in righteousness which we had done, but according to His mercy, He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

²² Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to unpretended brotherly love, love one another fervently out of a pure heart, ²³ having been born again, not by corruptible seed, but incorruptible, through the living word of God, and remaining forever.

²⁹ If you know that He is righteous, know that everyone doing righteousness has been born of Him.

³ And everyone having this hope on Him purifies himself even as that One is pure.

⁴ A woman of virtue is a crown to her lord, but one causing shame is like rottenness in his bones.

¹⁷ Better is a dinner of vegetables where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred with it.

¹ Better is a dry piece of bread, and quietness with it, than a house full of sacrifices with fighting.

¹³ A foolish son is calamity to his father, and a wife's quarreling a never ending dripping.

¹⁹ It is better to live in a land of the wilderness than with a woman of strivings and vexations.

²⁴ It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.

¹⁵ Drops that never cease on a rainy day, and a contentious woman are alike; ¹⁶ he who hides her hides the wind, and his right hand encounters slippery oil.

⁸ Ask your young men, and they will tell you. And may the young men find favor in your eyes, for we have come at a good day. Please give that which your hand finds to your servants, and to your son, to David. ⁹ And the young men of David came and spoke to Nabal according to all these words, in the name of David, and rested. ¹⁰ And Nabal answered David's servants and said, Who is David, and who the son of Jesse? The servants have multiplied today, who have broken away, a man from their masters. ¹¹ And shall I take my bread, and my water, and my meat which I have killed for my shearers, and give to men whom I have not known, from where they are?

⁴ He plots evil on his bed; he sets himself on a way that is not good; he does not hate evil.

² Like a sharp razor, your tongue devises ruin, working deceit. ³ You love evil more than good; lying more than to speak righteousness. Selah.

⁵ Good is a man showing favor and lending; he will nourish his matters with equity.

⁹ He has scattered; he has given to the needy; his righteousness is standing forever; his horn shall be lifted up with honor.

²⁹ Do not plan evil against your neighbor, since he lives securely by you.

¹² The wicked desires the net of evils, but the root of the righteous gives fruit .

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he himself shall also call, and shall not be answered.

⁶ For the fool speaks foolishness, and his heart works iniquity, to do ungodliness; and to speak error against Jehovah, to make the hungry soul empty; and he causes the drink of the thirsty to fail. ⁷ And the weapons of the miser are evil; he devises wicked plots to destroy the poor with lying words, even the needy when he speaks right. ⁸ But the noble one devises noble things; and he shall rise by noble things.

² Those hating good and loving evil, who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and cause their skin to come off from them; yea, they break their bones and shatter, like that in the pot, and as flesh in the midst of the kettle.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, pass out the evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² thefts, greedy desires, iniquities, deceit, lustful desires, a wicked eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

⁶ But these things became examples for us, so that we may not be lusters after evil, even as those indeed lusted.

¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to the one not doing mercy. And mercy rejoices over judgment.

¹ From where do wars and fightings among you come ? Is it not from this, from your lusts warring in your members? ² You desire greatly and do not have. You murder, and are jealous, and are not able to obtain. You fight and you war, and you do not have, because you do not ask God . ³ You ask, and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, in order that you may spend on your lusts. ⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever, then, purposes to be a friend of the world is shown to be an enemy of God. ⁵ Or do you think that vainly the Scripture says, The spirit which has dwelt in us yearns to envy? No OT passage

⁴ Behold, the wages of the workmen who have reaped your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of the ones who have reaped have entered "into the ears of the Lord of Hosts." Isa. 5:9 ⁵ You lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived in self gratification; you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter; ⁶ you condemned; you murdered the righteous; he does not resist you.

¹⁶ because all that which is in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

³⁴ And all Israel who were around them fled at their cry; for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.

¹¹ And all Israel shall hear and fear, and shall not again do any such wicked thing as this among you.

²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, and he shall die. So you shall put away the evil from among you, that all Israel shall hear, and fear.

⁷ But God shall shoot an arrow at them; their wounds shall suddenly appear. ⁸ So they shall be confounded; their tongue falls upon themselves; everyone seeing them shall flee. ⁹ And all men shall fear and shall declare the work of God; yea, they shall in wisdom consider His work.

⁵ The wise hears and increases learning, and the understanding ones gets wise counsel,

⁹ Give to a wise one, and he will be more wise; teach a just one, and he will increase in learning.

¹⁴ The heart of the understanding one seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly.

¹ He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he breaks out against all sound wisdom.

¹⁵ The heart of the prudent gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

²⁵ Strike a scorner and the simple will become careful; reprove a discerner, and he will discern knowledge.

⁵ And hearing these words, Ananias fell down and expired. And great fear came on all those hearing these things.

¹¹ And great fear came on all the church and on all those hearing these things. ¹² And many miracles and wonders among the people took place through the hands of the apostles. Ex. 32:6 ⁸ Nor should we commit fornication, as some of them fornicated, and twenty three thousand fell in one day. ⁹ Neither over-tempt Christ, as some of them tempted, and perished by serpents. ¹⁰ Neither should you murmur, as also some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer. ¹¹ And all these things happened to those as examples, and it was written for our warning, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

¹ For this reason we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things heard, that we should not slip away at any time. ² For if the word spoken by angels was confirmed, and every transgression and disobedience received a just repayment; ³ how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Which having received a beginning to be spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by the ones hearing,

²⁸ If anyone did not regard the Law of Moses, that one dies without pities on " the word of two or three witnesses." Deut. 17:6 ²⁹ How much worse punishment do you think will be thought worthy to receive, the one trampling the Son of God, and having counted common the blood of the covenant in which he was sanctified, and having insulted the Spirit of grace?

¹³ And in that hour a great earthquake occurred, and the tenth part of the city fell. And there were killed in the earthquake seven thousand names of men. And the rest became terrified, and gave glory to the God of Heaven.

²⁹ And it happened when God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham; and He sent Lot out from the overthrow when overturning the cities in which Lot lived.

³ I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place.

¹⁵ He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not endure.

¹⁴ His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors. ¹⁵ What is not his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone is scattered on his home. ¹⁶ His roots are dried up beneath, and his branch shall wither above. ¹⁷ His memory perishes from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street. ¹⁸ They push him from light to darkness, and they make him flee from the world. ¹⁹ He shall have no son nor kinsman among his people, nor any remnant in his dwellings. ²⁰ Those after him shall be amazed at his day; and those before were seized with horror. ²¹ Surely these are the tents of the perverse, and this the place that has not known God.

²⁸ for you say, Where is the house of the noble, and where the tent, the dwellings of the wicked? ²⁹ Did you not ask those who go along the highway; and do you not know their signs? ³⁰ For the wicked is kept for the day of calamity; they shall be brought to the day of wrath.

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the inheritance of ruthless men that they shall receive from the Almighty. ¹⁴ If his sons become numerous, the sword is for them; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those remaining of him shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep. ¹⁶ Though he heaps up silver like the dust, and prepares clothing like the clay; ¹⁷ he may prepare, but the just shall put it on; and the innocent shall divide the silver. ¹⁸ He builds his house like a moth, and like a booth that a watchman makes. ¹⁹ The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered; he opens his eyes, and he is not. ²⁰ Fears shall overtake him like waters; a tempest steals him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind lifts him up and he is gone; for it whirls him out of his place. ²² For it will hurl at him, and will not spare; from its hand he will surely flee. ²³ He shall clap His hands at him, and shall hiss him from his place.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked ruthless, even spreading himself out like a luxuriant, native tree; ³⁶ yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

⁵ God will likewise break you forever; He shall take you away, even pluck you from your tent, and uproot you out of the land of the living. Selah.

⁴³ Whoever is wise and will observe these things, they shall discern the mercies of Jehovah.

³ The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of traitors will devastate them. ⁴ Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. ⁵ The righteousness of the perfect shall make his way right, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

⁶ Righteousness keeps the upright one in the way, but wickedness subverts sin.

¹¹ The wicked's house shall be thrown down, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

³² The wicked is thrust out in his wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death.

⁹ Who is wise and discerns these things? Who is discerning and knows them? For the ways of Jehovah are right, and the righteous shall walk in them; but transgressors shall stumble in them.

¹¹ I have overthrown among you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand plucked out of the burning; yet you have not returned to Me, declares Jehovah.

⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil! ¹⁰ You have advised shame for your house, to make an end of many peoples, and are sinning in your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out from the wall, and the beam shall answer it from the wood. ¹² Woe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by iniquity!

⁵ Yet God was not pleased with most of them, "for they were scattered in the deserted place." Num. 14:16

⁴ For if God did not spare sinning angels, but delivered them to chains of darkness, thrust down into Tartarus, having been kept to judgment; ⁵ and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah the eighth, a herald of righteousness, bringing a flood on a world of ungodly ones; ⁶ and covering the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah with ashes, He condemned them with an overthrow, setting an example to men intending to live ungodly. ⁷ And He delivered righteous Lot, who had been oppressed by the behavior of the lawless in lustfulness. ⁸ For that righteous one living among them day after day, in seeing and in hearing, his righteous soul was tormented with their lawless deeds. ⁹ But the Lord knows to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unjust for a day of judgment, being punished,

⁶ through which the world which then was, being flooded by water, perished. ⁷ But the heavens and the earth now, having been stored up by the same word, are being kept for fire to a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁷ If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers inside any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your needy brother. ⁸ But you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need in that which he lacks. ⁹ Beware that there is no evil thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release draws near; and your eye be evil against your needy brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to Jehovah against you and it be sin to you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because Jehovah your God will bless you for this thing, in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to. ¹¹ For the poor will never cease from the midst of the land. On account of this I command you, saying, You shall surely open your hand to your poor and needy brother in your land.

¹ And there was a great cry of the people, and of their wives, against their brothers the Jews. ² For some were saying, With our sons and our daughters, we are many. let us take up grain for them, so that we may eat and live. ³ Some also were saying, We have mortgaged our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses; let us take up grain because of the famine. ⁴ And some were saying, We have borrowed silver for the king's tax, on our fields, and our vineyards, ⁵ yet now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers; as their sons, so are our sons; and, behold, we are bringing our sons and our daughters into bondage, to be slaves; yea, there are some of our daughters brought into bondage. And there is no power for our hand, and our fields and our vineyards are to other men.

¹³ Also I shook my lap, and I said, So may God shake out every man from his house and from his labor who does not do this thing; even may he be shaken out this way and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised Jehovah. And the people did according to this thing.

⁴¹ They cried, but no one is there to save; to Jehovah, but He did not answer them.

⁴ Their poison is like the poison of a snake; like the deaf adder, he stops his ear,

²⁸ Then they shall call on me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me.

²⁷ He who gives to the poor shall not lack, but he who hides his eyes shall have plenty of curses.

⁶ Is this not the fast I have chosen: to open bands of wickedness, to undo thongs of the yoke, and to let the oppressed ones go free; even that you pull off every yoke? ⁷ Is it not to break your bread to the hungry, that you should bring the wandering poor home? When will you see the naked and cover him; and you will not hide yourself from your flesh? ⁸ Then your light shall break as the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Jehovah shall gather you. ⁹ Then you shall call, and Jehovah will answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, Here I am . If you put the yoke away from among you, the sending out of the finger, and the speaking of vanity;

¹⁶ But you turned and profaned My name, and each man caused his male slave, and each man his female slave, to return whom you had sent away according to their desire. And you subjected them to be slaves and female slaves to you. ¹⁷ So Jehovah says this: You have not listened to Me, to call for liberty, each man to his brother, and each man to his neighbor. Behold, I call for freedom to you, says Jehovah: to the sword, to the plague, and to the famine. And I will cause you to be a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

⁹ So says Jehovah of hosts, saying, Judge true judgment, and practice kindness and pity, each man with his brother. ¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the alien, or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother. ¹¹ But they refused to listen, and gave a stubborn shoulder, and they made their ears heavy from hearing. ¹² And they made their heart adamant from hearing the law and the words which Jehovah of hosts has sent by the former prophets through His Spirit. And great wrath was from Jehovah of hosts. ¹³ And it will be, just as He called, and they did not listen; so they called, and I did not listen, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

² for with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured again to you.

³⁰ But he would not, but going away he threw him into prison until he pay back the amount owing. ³¹ But his fellow slaves, seeing the things happening, they were greatly grieved. And coming they reported to their lord all the things happening. ³² Then calling him near, his lord said to him, Wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt, since you begged me. ³³ Ought you not also to favor your fellow slave, as I also favored you? ³⁴ And being angry, his lord delivered him up to the tormentors until he pay back all that debt to him. ³⁵ So also My heavenly Father will do to you unless each of you from your hearts forgive his brother their trespasses.

⁴¹ Then He will also say to those on His left, Go away from Me, cursed ones, into the everlasting fire having been prepared for the Devil and his angels. ⁴² For I hungered, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I thirsted, and you gave me nothing to drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you did not take Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me. ⁴⁴ Then they also will answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to You? ⁴⁵ Then He will answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of these, the least, neither did you do it to Me. ⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.

²⁵ From the time the Master of the house shall have risen up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And answering, He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you?

⁵⁷ And crying out with a loud voice, they held their ears and rushed on him with one passion.

¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to the one not doing mercy. And mercy rejoices over judgment. ¹⁴ My brothers, what is the gain if anyone says he has faith, but he does not have works? Is faith able to save him? ¹⁵ But if a brother or a sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, ¹⁶ and any one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain is it ?

²⁰ And you shall also say, Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will cover his face by the present, the one going before my face, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will lift up my face.

¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, If it be so, then do this: take from the produce of the land in your vessels and bring down a present to the man, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts and almonds.

³⁵ And David received from her hand what she had brought to him. And he said to her, Go in peace to your house. See, I have heard your voice, and have accepted your face.

⁸ A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who possesses it; everywhere he turns, he is prudent.

²³ The wicked takes a bribe out of the bosom to pervert the paths of justice.

¹⁶ A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

⁶ Many will beg the favor of a noble, and all are friends to him who give gifts.

³ But you doing merciful deeds, do not let your left know what your right hand does, ⁴ so that your merciful deeds may be in secret. And your Father seeing in secret Himself will repay you in the open.

¹² For I delivered the poor who cried for help and the orphan who had no helper to him. ¹³ The blessing of the perishing came on me; and I made the widow's heart to sing. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness and it clothed me; my judgment was like a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, and feet for the lame. ¹⁶ I was father to the poor, and the cause which I did not know, I searched out. ¹⁷ I broke the fangs of the perverse, and cast the prey out of his teeth.

⁸ I delight to do Your will, O My God; and Your law is within My inmost soul .

¹ Praise Jehovah! Blessed is the man who fears Jehovah, delighting greatly in His commands.

¹⁶ I will delight myself in Your statutes. I will not forget Your word.

⁹² If Your law had not been my delight, then I had perished in my grief.

²⁰ And my son, why will you be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace a foreigner's bosom?

²⁹ The way of Jehovah is strength to the upright, but ruin is to workers of iniquity.

¹² The Righteous One wisely considers the house of the wicked: He overthrows the wicked for his evil.

¹² I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice to do good in his life.

⁵ You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness; they recall You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned. In I them is eternity, we shall be saved.

²³ And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" Psa. 6:8

⁴¹ The Son of man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all the offenses, and those who practice lawlessness. ⁴² And they will throw them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth.

²⁷ And He will say, I tell you I do not know you, from where you are. "Stand back from Me all workers of unrighteousness!" Psa. 6:8 ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, My food is that I should do the will of Him who sent Me, and that I may finish His work.

²² For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man;

¹⁴ Like sheep, they are appointed to Sheol; death shall reign for them; and upright ones shall rule over them in the morning; and their form is for rotting; Sheol is home for him.

⁵ And those who turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah shall lead them with the evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.

¹⁸ For her house leads down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits. ¹⁹ All going in to her do not return, nor do they reach the ways of life.

²⁶ For many are the wounded she has caused to fall; and plentiful all her slain ones. ²⁷ The ways of Sheol are in her house, leading down to the rooms of death.

¹⁸ But he does not know that the departed spirits are there; her guests are in the depths of hell.

²⁰ He who walks with the wise shall be wise, but one associating with fools shall be broken.

⁶ and those drawing back from after Jehovah, and who have not sought Jehovah, nor asked of Him.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone practicing wickedness hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, that his works may not be exposed.

¹ and He worked in you who were once dead in trespasses and sins,

⁴ For it is impossible for those being once enlightened, and having tasted of the heavenly gift, and becoming sharers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and tasting the good Word of God, and the works of power of a coming age, ⁶ then falling away, it is impossible for them again to renew to repentance, crucifying again for themselves the Son of God, and putting Him to open shame.

²⁶ For if we are willfully sinning after receiving the full knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice concerning sins, ²⁷ but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and "zealous fire being about to consume the adversaries." Isa. 26:11

³⁸ "But the just shall live by faith;" "and if he draws back," "My soul is not pleased in him." Hab. 2:4

²¹ For it was better for them not to have fully known the way of righteousness, than fully knowing to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But the word of the true proverb has happened to them: " The dog turning to his own vomit;" also, the washed sow to wallowing in mud. Prov. 26:11

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they were of us, they would have remained with us; but they left so that it might be revealed that they all are not of us.

¹² These are sunken rocks in your love feasts, feasting together with you, feeding themselves without fear, waterless clouds being carried about by winds, fruitless autumn trees, having died twice, having been plucked up by the roots;

¹⁰ that strangers not be filled with your strength, and your labors be in the house of an alien, ¹¹ and you moan when your end comes, when your flesh and muscle are eaten away;

²⁰ A desirable treasure and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man devours it.

²¹ for the drunkard and the glutton lose all, and sleepiness shall clothe one with rags.

¹³ And not many days after, gathering up all things, the younger son went away to a distant country. And there he wasted his property, living dissolutely. ¹⁴ But having spent all his things, a severe famine came throughout that country, and he began to be in need. ¹⁵ And going, he was joined to one of the citizens of that country. And he sent him into his fields to feed pigs. ¹⁶ And he longed to fill his stomach from the husks which the pigs ate, but no one gave to him.

²⁴ And calling he said, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Child, remember that you fully received your good things in your lifetime, and Lazarus likewise the bad things. But now he is comforted, and you are suffering.

⁶ But she who lives in self-pleasure has died while living.

⁴ betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

⁸ The righteous is delivered from distress, and the wicked comes in his place.

³ For I am Jehovah your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt for your atonement; Ethiopia and Seba instead of you. ⁴ Since you were precious in My eyes, you are honored, and I love you; and I give men instead of you; and peoples instead of your soul.

⁴ Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and He carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him plagued, smitten by God, and afflicted. ⁵ But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His wounds we ourselves are healed.

⁸ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says Jehovah. ⁹ For as the heavens are high from the earth, so My ways are high from your ways, and My thoughts from your thoughts.

¹⁸ Because even Christ once suffered concerning sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God; indeed being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;

⁶ And I said, Who will give to me wings like a dove? I would fly away and be at rest. ⁷ I would rove far away, fleeing; I would lodge in the desert. Selah.

⁵ Woe is me that I sojourned in Meshech; I dwell with the tents of Kedar! ⁶ My soul has long dwelt to itself, with him who hates peace.

⁹ It is better to dwell on a corner of a housetop, than with a contentious woman, and to share a house.

² Oh, that I had a lodging place for travelers in the wilderness, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous ones.

¹⁵ He swallows wealth, but vomits it; God drives it out from his belly.

¹⁸ giving back his gain, and he will not eat. As to the wealth of his trading, even he shall not enjoy it .

⁵ You prepare a table for me before my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

³ wealth and riches in his house; and his righteousness is standing forever.

²² The blessing of Jehovah, it makes rich, and he adds no pain with it.

⁶ In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but in the gain of the wicked is tumult.

¹⁹ Also every man to whom God has given riches and treasures, and gives him power to eat of it, and to take his share, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.

¹¹ Wisdom is good with an inheritance; yea, a gain to those who see the sun.

¹⁹ Bread is made for laughter, and wine gladdens life; but silver answers all things .

⁸ But ten men were found among them who said to Ishmael, Do not kill us, for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. So he held back, not killing them with their brothers.

¹⁹ Do not treasure up for you treasures on the earth, where moth and rust cause to vanish, and where thieves dig through and steal. ²⁰ But treasure up for you treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust cause to vanish, and where thieves do not dig through and steal.

³ Those being foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them. ⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

⁴⁵ The good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart. And the evil man brings forth evil out of the evil treasure of his heart, for his mouth speaks out of the abundance of his heart.

¹⁴ But having spent all his things, a severe famine came throughout that country, and he began to be in need.

¹ And He also said to His disciples, A certain man was rich; and he had a steward, and this one was accused to him as wasting his goods.

¹⁹ And there was a certain rich man; and he was accustomed to don a purple robe and fine linen, making merry in luxury day by day. ²⁰ And there was a certain poor one named Lazarus who had been laid at his porch, being plagued by sores, ²¹ and longing to be filled from the crumbs that were falling from the table of the rich one. But coming, even the dogs licked his sores. ²² And it happened, the poor one died and was carried away by the angels into the bosom of Abraham. And the rich one also died and was buried. ²³ And being in torments in Hell, lifting up his eyes, he sees Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosoms.

⁹ The way of the wicked is hateful to Jehovah, but He loves him who pursues righteousness.

⁴ The reward of humility is the fear of Jehovah, riches, and honor, and life.

¹ Hear Me, pursuers of righteousness, seekers of Jehovah: Look to the rock from which you were cut, and to the hollow of the pit from which you were dug.

³ Then we shall know, we who follow on to know Jehovah. His going forth is established as the dawn. And He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

⁶ Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness! For they shall be filled.

⁷ everlasting life truly to those who with patience in good work are seeking glory and honor and incorruptibility; ⁸ but to those even disobeying the truth, out of self interest, and obeying unrighteousness, will be anger and wrath, ⁹ trouble and pain on every soul of man that works out evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek. ¹⁰ But glory and honor and peace will be to everyone that works out good, both to the Jew first, and to the Greek.

¹⁹ So then let us pursue the things of peace, and the things for building up one another.

⁵⁸ So that, my beloved brothers, you be firm, immovable, abounding in the work of the Lord always, knowing that your labor is not without fruit in the Lord.

¹² Not that I already received or already have been perfected, but I press on, if I also may lay hold, inasmuch as I also was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

²¹ Test all things, hold fast to the good.

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.

²² But flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with the ones calling on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁷ I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. ⁸ For the rest, the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me in that Day, and not only to me, but also to all the ones loving His appearance.

¹⁴ Eagerly pursue peace and holiness with all, without which no one will see the Lord,

⁷ so that the proving of your faith, much more precious than perishing gold, but having been proved through fire, may be found to praise and honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

⁶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem, to the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land. And one spoke to David, saying, You shall not come in here except the blind and the lame will turn you away, saying, David cannot come in here. ⁷ And David captured the stronghold of Zion. It is the city of David. ⁸ And David said on that day, Anyone who strikes the Jebusite, let him touch at the water shaft and capture the lame and the blind, the hated of the soul of David. On this account they say, The blind and the lame shall not enter into the house. ⁹ And David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward.

¹⁶ And a wise woman called out of the city, Hear! Hear! Please say to Joab, Come near here and I will speak to you. ¹⁷ And he came near to her. And the woman said, Are you Joab? And he said, I am . And she said to him, Hear the words of your handmaid. And he said, I am listening. ¹⁸ And she spoke, saying, They spoke often in days gone by, saying, Surely they will ask at Abel, and so they ended all dispute . ¹⁹ I am of the peaceful, faithful ones of Israel. You are seeking to destroy a city, and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of Jehovah? ²⁰ And Joab answered and said, Far be it! Far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy. ²¹ The case is not such. For a man of the hills of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri is his name, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. If you will give him up by himself, then I will go away from the city. And the woman said to Joab, Behold, his head will be thrown over the wall to you. ²² And the woman came to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. And he blew the ram's horn, and they were dispersed from the city, each man to his tents. And Joab went back to Jerusalem to the king.

⁵ A wise warrior is in strength: yes, a man of knowledge firms up power.

¹⁹ Wisdom makes the wise stronger than ten rulers who are in the city.

¹³ This wisdom I saw also under the sun, and it is great to me: ¹⁴ There was a little city, and few men in it. And a great king came against it, and besieged it, and built huge siege works against it. ¹⁵ And there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom saved the city. Yet no man remembered that poor man! ¹⁶ And I said, Wisdom is better than strength; but the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The words of wise men are heard in quiet, more than the cry of one who rules among fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of conflict; but one sinner destroys much good.

¹⁹ In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, but one restraining his lips is prudent.

¹³ In the transgression of the lips is the snare of evil, but the righteous will come out from distress.

³ He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who opens his lips wide is ruined.

²⁷ He who restrains his words knows knowledge, and one rare of spirit is a man of understanding. ²⁸ Even a fool who is silent is counted wise, he who shuts his lips is counted as understanding.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit.

²⁶ If anyone thinks to be religious among you, yet not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this one's religion is vain.

² For we all stumble in many ways . If any one does not stumble in word, this one is a mature man, able also to bridle the whole body. ³ Behold, we put bits in the mouths of the horses, for them to obey us; and we turn about their whole body. ⁴ Behold, the ships also, being so great, and being driven by violent winds, they are directed by a very small rudder, where the impulse of the one steering purposes. ⁵ So also the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how little a fire kindles how large a forest! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, the world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body, and inflaming the course of nature, and having been inflamed by Hell. ⁷ For every species of beasts, both indeed of birds, of creeping things, and of sea animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human species; ⁸ but no one of men is able to tame the tongue; it is an evil that cannot be restrained, full of death-dealing poison. ⁹ By this we bless God and the Father; and by this we curse men having come into being according to the image of God. Gen. 1:26 ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers it is not fitting for these things to be so. ¹¹ Does the fountain out of the same hole send forth the sweet and the bitter? ¹² My brothers, a fig tree is not able to produce olives, or a vine figs. So neither can a fountain produce both salt and sweet water. ¹³ Who is wise and knowing among you? Let him show his works by his good behavior, in meekness of wisdom.

⁵ And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow nor worship him, then Haman was filled with fury. ⁶ And it was light in his eyes to reach forth a hand against Mordecai alone; for they had revealed to him Mordecai's people. And Haman sought to destroy all the Jews in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus, the people of Mordecai.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners and has not sat in the seat of scorners.

²² How long will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge?

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹² Before shattering, a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.

²⁹ Judgments are prepared for scorners, and blows for the backs of fools.

⁸ Better is the end of a thing than its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. ⁹ Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry; for vexation rests in the bosom of fools.

⁶ We have heard of the pride of Moab, very proud; of his pride, his arrogance, and his rage; not so are his babblings.

²⁹ We have heard the pride of Moab, he is exceeding proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his arrogance, and his elevated heart.

¹⁶ Then seeing that he was mocked by the wise men, Herod was greatly enraged, and having sent, he killed all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he exactly asked from the wise men.

⁶ Go to the ant, lazy man; consider her ways and be wise; ⁷ who, having no guide, overseer or ruler, ⁸ provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. ⁹ How long will you lie down, O lazy man? When will you arise out of your sleep? ¹⁰ A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down; ¹¹ So shall your poverty come as one walking, and your need like an armed man.

²⁴ The hand of the hard worker shall rule, but the remiss ones will become forced labor.

²⁷ The slacker does not start after his game, but the wealth of a working man is precious.

¹⁹ The way of the lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is exalted.

²⁴ A lazy one puts his hand in a dish, and he will not return it to his mouth.

⁴ The lazy man will not plow, after autumn he begs at harvest, and nothing is there.

¹³ The lazy one says, A lion is outside! I will be killed in the streets!

³⁰ I went over the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man lacking heart, ³¹ and, lo, it was all risen up with thistles, nettles had covered its surface, and its stone wall was broken down. ³² Then I saw, I set my heart on it; I looked, I received instruction: ³³ A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down, ³⁴ so shall your poverty come stalking, and your want like a man with a shield.

¹³ The lazy one says, A lion is in the way, a lion is between the streets!

¹⁶ The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven that return a wise answer.

²⁶ And answering, his lord said to him, Evil and slothful slave! You knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not I scatter.

²⁶ All the day long he is gracious and lends, and his seed is for a blessing.

⁴² He asking you to give, and he wishing to borrow from you, do not turn away.

³⁰ And to everyone asking you, give. And do not ask back from those taking your things. ³¹ And according as you desire that men should do to you, you also do the same to them. ³² And if you love those who love you, what thanks is there to you? For even sinners love those who love them. ³³ And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks is there to you? For even the sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks is there to you? For the sinners lend to sinners so that they may receive the same. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones. ³⁶ Therefore, be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.

³³ I have desired the silver, or gold, or clothing of no one. ³⁴ But you yourselves know that these hands ministered to my needs, and to those who were with me. ³⁵ I showed you all things, that working in this way we ought to help those being weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

⁷ But even as you abound in everything, in faith, and in word, and in knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love in us, that you also should abound in this grace. ⁸ I do not speak according to command, but through the earnestness of others and testing the trueness of your love. ⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that being rich, He became poor for your sake, so that you might become rich by the poverty of that One.

⁹ even as it has been written, "He scattered, he gave to the poor, his righteousness abides forever." Psa. 112:9 ¹⁰ Now He that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating, may He supply and multiply your seed and increase the fruits of your righteousness, ¹¹ in everything you being enriched to all generosity, which works out thanksgiving to God through us. ¹² Because the ministry of this service is not only making up the things lacking of the saints, but also multiplying through many thanksgivings to God, ¹³ through the proof of this service, they glorifying God by your freely expressed submission to the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of the fellowship toward them and toward all; ¹⁴ and in their prayer for you, a longing after you, because of the overflowing grace of God on you.

⁵ For neither were we then found with words of flattery, even as you know, nor with pretense of covetousness (God is witness), ⁶ nor seeking glory from men, neither from you, nor from others, having been able to be so with the weight of glory as apostles of Christ. ⁷ But we were gentle in your midst, even as a nurse should warmly cherish her children. ⁸ Longing over you in this way, we were pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own souls, because you have become beloved to us. ⁹ For, brothers, you remember our labor and toil, night and day, working in order not to put a burden on any one of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

¹² then I said, Now the Philistines will come down to me to Gilgal, and I have not sweetened the face of Jehovah; and I forced myself, and offered a burnt offering. ¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, You have acted foolishly that you have not kept the command of Jehovah your God which He commanded you. For now Jehovah would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

²¹ And the people took from the spoil of the flock, and the first of the herd, that devoted, to sacrifice to Jehovah your God in Gilgal. ²² And Samuel said, Does Jehovah delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To give attention is better than the fat of rams. ²³ For the sin of divination is rebellion; insolence is both iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, so He has rejected you from being king.

⁸ I will not reprove you for your sacrifices; yea, your burnt offerings are continually before Me; ⁹ I will take no bull out of your house, nor he-goats out of your folds, ¹⁰ for every beast of the forest is Mine; the cattle on a thousand hills; ¹¹ I know all the birds of the mountains; and all moving in My fields are Mine; ¹² if I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is Mine, and the fullness of it. ¹³ Will I eat the flesh of mighty ones, and will I drink the blood of he-goats?

⁹ Whoever turns aside his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

¹¹ What good to Me are your many sacrifices, says Jehovah? I am full of burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fattened cattle, and the blood of bulls; nor do I delight in the blood of lambs and he goats. ¹² When you come to see My face, who has required this at your hand, to trample My courts? ¹³ Do not add to bringing vain sacrifice; its incense is an abomination to Me. I cannot endure the new moon and sabbath, the going to meeting, and the evil assembly. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to Me. I am weary of bearing them . ¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, purify yourselves. Put away the evil of your doings from My sight; stop doing evil.

³ He who kills an ox is as if he struck a man; he who sacrifices a lamb is as if he broke a dog's neck; he who offers a present is as if it were swine's blood; he who marks incense is as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their way, and their soul delights in their abominations.

²⁰ Why is this to Me? Frankincense comes from Sheba, and the good cane from a far land? Your burnt offerings are not for acceptance, nor are your sacrifices sweet to Me.

¹¹ Has this house on which My name is called become a den of violent ones in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen, declares Jehovah. ¹² But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the evil of My people Israel.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days; and I will not delight in your solemn assemblies. ²² Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not be pleased; nor will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of Heaven before men; for you do not enter, nor do you allow those entering to go in.

¹ You shall not utter a false report; You shall not put your hand with the wicked, to become a violent witness.

¹⁶ If a vicious witness rises up against any man to charge apostasy against him, ¹⁷ then both the men who have the dispute shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall carefully investigate And, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and he has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹ then you shall do to him as he plotted to do to his brother. And you shall put away the evil from among you.

¹⁹ a false witness who breathes lies, and he who causes strife among brothers.

¹⁹ The lips of truth are established forever, but a lying tongue is only while I wink.

⁵ A false witness shall not be acquitted; yea, a breather of lies shall not escape.

⁹ A false witness shall not be acquitted; yea, he who speaks lies shall perish.

¹⁸ A man who gives false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword and a sharp arrow.

¹⁵ But they said to her, You are raving. But she insisted, holding it to be so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁷ Then purposing this, did I indeed use lightness? Or what I purposed, did I purpose according to flesh, that may be with me yes, yes, and no, no? ¹⁸ But God is faithful, that our word to you did not become yes and no. ¹⁹ For Jesus Christ the Son of God, the One proclaimed among you by us, through me and Silvanus and Timothy, was not yes and no, but has been yes in Him. ²⁰ For as many promises as are of God, in Him they are yes, and in Him are Amen, for glory to God through us.

¹³ But having the same spirit of faith, according to what has been written, "I believed, therefore I spoke," we also believe, therefore we also speak, LXX-Psa. 115:1; MT-Psa. 116:10

⁸ Faithful is the Word, and concerning these things I desire you strongly to affirm that the ones believing God should take thought to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

⁵ O that my ways were fixed to keep Your statutes!

⁵⁹ I mused on my ways and turned my feet to Your testimonies.

⁵ The righteousness of the perfect shall make his way right, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

¹⁴ Oh the happiness of a man who is awed by God constantly! But he who hardens his heart falls into evil.

¹ A man who hardens his neck when reproved shall be suddenly broken, and there will be no healing.

² Lift up your eyes on the bare heights and see. Where have you not been lain with? By the highways you have sat for them, like an Arab in the desert. And you have defiled the land with your fornications and with your evil. ³ And the showers are withheld, and there has been no latter rain. And the forehead of a woman, a harlot was to you; you refused to be ashamed.

³ O Jehovah, are not Your eyes for the truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You consumed them, yet they refused to take correction. They made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

¹² Were they ashamed when they had done hateful things? They were not even at all ashamed, nor did they know how to blush. So they shall fall among those who fall. In the time of their punishment they will stumble, says Jehovah.

¹⁶ As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Jehovah, we will not listen to you. ¹⁷ But we will certainly do whatever thing goes out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings, and our rulers, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. And we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

²⁸ Because he considers and turns from all his transgressions that he has done, surely he shall live; he shall not die.

⁵ And now, so says Jehovah of hosts: Set your heart on your ways!

¹⁵ And now, I ask you, set your heart on it; from this day and onward: before the placing of a stone on a stone in the temple of Jehovah;

¹⁸ Now set your heart from this day and forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that Jehovah's temple was established. Set your heart: ¹⁹ Is the seed still in the barn? Yes, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth. From this day I will bless them .

¹⁷ But coming to himself he said, How many servants of my father have plenty of loaves, and I am perishing with famine. ¹⁸ Rising up, I will go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I sinned against Heaven and before you,

¹¹ But may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.

²¹ Many purposes are in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah shall stand.

⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have plotted evil against you, saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah and make her to dread, and break her for ourselves, and set a king in her midst, the son of Tabeal. ⁷ So says the Lord Jehovah, It shall not rise, nor shall it happen.

⁹ O peoples, suffer evil, and be broken! And listen, all from the far places of the earth; gird yourselves, and be broken. Gird yourselves and be broken! ¹⁰ Counsel a counsel, and it is frustrated; speak a word, and it shall not rise; for God is with us.

²⁷ For Jehovah of Hosts has purposed. And who shall reverse it ? And His hand is stretched out. Who shall turn it back?

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from the past those things which were not done, saying, My purpose shall rise; and, I will do all My desire; ¹¹ calling a bird of prey from the sunrise, the man of My counsel from a far off land. Yes, I have spoken; yes, I will cause it to come; I have formed; yes, I will do it.

²³ So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, and do not let the mighty glory in his might. Do not let the rich glory in his riches.

¹³ But the men rowed to return to the dry land, but they were not able, for the sea was going on and being stormy against them.

²⁷ For truly both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the nations and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together against Your holy child Jesus, whom You anointed, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel before-determined to be done.

³⁹ But if it is from God, you will not be able to destroy it, lest you be found even fighters against God.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it has been written, "He takes the wise in their own craftiness." Job 5:13 ²⁰ And again, " The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are worthless." LXX-Psa. 93:11; MT-Psa. 94:11

⁸ and a Stone-of-stumbling, and a Rock-of-offense" to those disobeying, stumbling at the word, to which they were also appointed. Isa. 8:14

³ But You, O Jehovah, are a shield around me; my glory and He who lifts up my head.

⁸ Salvation belongs to Jehovah. Your blessing is on Your people. Selah.

⁷ These trust in chariots, and these in horses but we will make mention in the name of Jehovah our God.

¹⁷ A horse is a vain thing for safety; nor does he save by his great strength. ¹⁸ Behold the eye of Jehovah is to those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy;

²⁰ Our God is the God of salvation; and to Jehovah the Lord are the issues of death.

¹⁰ You who gives salvation to kings, who delivers His servant David from the evil sword.

¹⁰ He takes no delight in the strength of the horse, nor any pleasure in the legs of a man.

¹¹ I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the mighty; nor even bread to the wise; nor even riches to the men of discernment; nor even favor to knowing men. For time and occurrence happen to them all.

¹ Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and lean on horses, and trust on chariotry, because it is great; and in horsemen because they are very strong! But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek Jehovah.

²³ Truly, for delusion comes from the hills, tumult on the mountains. Truly, in Jehovah our God is the salvation of Israel.
