¹ To the chief musician, A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your loving-kindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies; blot out my transgressions.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before his face and called out: Jehovah! Jehovah God! Merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and great in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and not leaving entirely unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on sons, and on sons of sons, to the third and to the fourth generation.

¹⁸ Jehovah is slow to anger, and of great mercy, bearing away iniquity and transgression; and by no means will clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons, on the third and on the fourth generation . ¹⁹ I beseech You, forgive the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of Your mercy, and as You have gone with this people from Egypt, even until now.

² And it happened at evening time, David rose up from his bed and walked up and down on the roof of the king's house. And he saw from the roof a woman bathing. And the woman was very good of form. ³ And David sent and asked about the woman. And one said, Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? ⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came to him, and he lay with her. And she purified herself from uncleanness, and she returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived, and sent, and told David. And she said, I am with child. ⁶ And David sent to Joab, Send Uriah the Hittite to me. And Joab sent Uriah to David. ⁷ And Uriah came to him. And David asked the peace of Joab, and the peace of the people, and of the success of the war. ⁸ And David said to Uriah, Go down to your house and wash your feet. And Uriah went out of the king's house, and a gilt from the king went out after him. ⁹ Uriah lay down at the entrance of the king's house, with all the servants of his lord. And he did not go down to his house. ¹⁰ And they told David, saying, Uriah did not go down to his house. And David said to Uriah, Have you not come from a journey? Why have you not gone down to your house? ¹¹ And Uriah said to David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah dwell in booths. And my lord Joab, and my lord's servants are camping on the face of the field. And I, shall I go into my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. ¹² And David said to Uriah, Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will send you away. And Uriah remained in Jerusalem on that day, and on the next day. ¹³ And David called for him, and he ate and drank before him. And he made him drunk, and he went out in the evening to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord. And he did not go down to his house.

² The rich one had flocks and very many herds. ³ But the poor one had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished. And it grew up with him, and with his sons together, and it ate of his morsel, and it drank from his cup, and it lay in his bosom. And it was like a daughter to him. ⁴ And a traveler came to the rich one, and he spared to take of his own flock, and of his own herd, to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. And he took the ewe lamb of the poor man, and prepared it for the man who had come to him. ⁵ And David's anger glowed greatly against the man. And he said to Nathan, As Jehovah lives, surely the man who did this is a son of death. ⁶ And he shall repay fourfold for the ewe lamb, because he has done this thing, and because he had no pity. ⁷ And Nathan said to David, You are the man! So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, I anointed you as king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. ⁸ And I gave you the house of your master, and your master's wives into your bosom. And I gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if that were too little, then I would have added to you these and those things . ⁹ Why have you despised the word of Jehovah, to do the evil in His eyes? You have stricken Uriah the Hittite by the sword, and you have taken his wife to yourself for a wife. And you have killed him by the sword of the sons of Ammon. ¹⁰ And now the sword shall not turn aside from your house continually, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wile of Uriah the Hittite to be a wife to you. ¹¹ So says Jehovah, Behold, I shall raise up evil against you out of your house, and shall take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor. And he shall lie with your wives in the sight of the sun. ¹² For you acted in secret, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun. ¹³ And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against Jehovah. And Nathan said to David, Jehovah also has put away your sin; you shall not die.

⁵ And do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You. For they have provoked You to anger before the builders.

¹ To the chief musician, for stringed instruments, A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. You gave room to me in distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

⁷ But I, in the plenty of Your grace, I will come into Your house. I will worship in Your fear toward Your holy temple, O Jehovah.

⁶ Remember, O Jehovah, Your compassions and Your mercies; for they are from eternity. ⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth, or my transgressions. According to Your mercy, remember me, for Your goodness' sake, O Jehovah.

¹¹ Do not withhold Your tender mercies from Me, O Jehovah; let Your lovingkindness and Your truth always watch over Me.

⁹ Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Jehovah, at a time of favor, O God! in the plentitude of Your mercy answer me, in the truth of Your salvation.

¹⁶ Hear me, O Jehovah, for Your mercy is good; in the plentitude of Your tender mercies, turn toward me.

⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious; has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah.

⁷ Our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember Your many mercies, and they rebelled at the sea, at the Sea of Reeds.

⁴⁵ He remembered His covenant for them, and breathed a sigh, according to His many mercies.

²¹ But You, O Jehovah the Lord, work with me for Your name's sake; deliver me because Your mercy is good.

¹²⁴ Deal with Your servant by Your mercy; and teach me Your statutes.

⁹ Jehovah is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.

²⁵ I, even I, am He who blots out your trespasses for My sake; and I will not remember your sins.

²² I have blotted out your transgressions like a thick cloud; and your sins like a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.

⁷ I will mention the mercies of Jehovah, the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah has benefited us, and the great good to the house of Israel, by which He benefited them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving-kindness.

¹⁵ Look down from Heaven and peer from the place of Your holiness and your glory. Where is Your zeal and Your might? The stirring of Your affections and Your mercies toward me, are they held back?

²³ Yet, O Jehovah, You know all their counsel to death against me. Do not atone for their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from Your face, but let them be those made to stumble before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.

³² For though He causes grief, He will have pity according to His many kindnesses.

⁹ To the Lord our God belong mercies and pardons, for we have rebelled against Him.

¹⁸ O my God, bow down Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our ruins and the city which is called by Your name. For we do not present our prayers before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, forgiving iniquity and passing by the transgression of the remnant of His possession? He does not make strong His anger forever, for He delights in grace. ¹⁹ He will return to show us compassion; He will trample our iniquities. Yea, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

¹⁹ Therefore, repent, and convert, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from the face of the Lord,

²⁰ But Law came in beside, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace much more abounded, ²¹ that as sin ruled in death, so also grace might rule through righteousness to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of His grace in which He favored us in the One having been loved, ⁷ in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace ⁸ which He caused to abound toward us in all wisdom and understanding,

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even we being dead in sins, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are being saved), ⁶ and raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that He might show in the coming ages the exceeding great riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ blotting out the handwriting in the ordinances against us, which was contrary to us, even He has taken it out of the midst, nailing it to the cross;
