¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

¹⁹ (because your heart was tender, and you have bowed before Jehovah when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against its inhabitants, to become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes, and have wept before Me;) even also I have heard, says Jehovah.

¹² And when he was afflicted, he sought the face of Jehovah his God, and was humbled exceedingly before the face of the God of his fathers; ¹³ and prayed to Him, and He was entreated of him and heard his supplication, and returned him to Jerusalem to his kingdom; and Manasseh knew that Jehovah, He is God.

²⁴ For He has not despised nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; and He has not hidden His face from him, but when He cried to Him, He heard.

¹⁸ Jehovah is near those who are broken-hearted, and saves those who have a contrite spirit.

¹⁷ He will turn to the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer.

²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount His works with rejoicing.

³ He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their sorrows.

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, and His name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble of spirit; to make live the spirit of the humble and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is on Me, because Jehovah has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the meek. He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and complete opening to the bound ones; ² to proclaim the acceptable year of Jehovah, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of the spirit of infirmity, so that one calls them trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, in order to beautify Himself.

² And My hand has made all these things, even all these things exist, declares Jehovah. But I will look toward this one, to the afflicted, and to the contrite of spirit, even trembling at My word.

³ And the glory of the God of Israel had gone on, from on the cherub where it was on it, to the threshold of the house. And He called to the man clothed in linen with the ink horn of a scribe at his loins. ⁴ And Jehovah said to him, Pass through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and mark a mark on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and are mourning over all the abominations that are done in her midst.

⁶ Slay old men, choice men, and virgins, and children, and women, all to destruction. But to every man who has the mark on him, do not come near. And begin from My sanctuary. And they began with the old men who were before the house.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days; and I will not delight in your solemn assemblies.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit! For theirs is the kingdom of the Heavens.

³³ "and to love Him from all the heart", and from all the understanding, "and from all the soul, and from all the strength;" Deut. 6:4, 5 and "to love one's neighbor as oneself" Lev. 19:18 is more than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices.

³⁹ But seeing, the Pharisee who invited Him spoke within himself, saying, This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what the woman who touches him is; for she is a sinner. ⁴⁰ And answering, Jesus said to the man, Simon, I have a thing to say to you. And he said, Teacher, say it . ⁴¹ There were two debtors to a certain creditor: the one owed five hundred denarii and the other fifty. ⁴² But they not having a thing to pay, he freely forgave both. Then which of them do you say will love him most? ⁴³ And answering, Simon said, I suppose the one to whom he freely forgave the most. And He said to him, You have judged rightly. ⁴⁴ And turning to the woman, He said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give water for My feet, but she washed My feet with tears and wiped off with the hairs of her head. ⁴⁵ You gave Me no kiss, but she from when I entered did not stop fervently kissing My feet. ⁴⁶ You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with ointment. ⁴⁷ For this reason I say to you, her many sins are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, he loves little. ⁴⁸ And He said to her, Your sins are forgiven. ⁴⁹ And those reclining with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this who even forgives sins? ⁵⁰ But He said to the woman, Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.

² And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This one receives sinners and eats with them. ³ And He spoke to them this parable, saying, ⁴ What man of you having a hundred sheep, and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety nine in the deserted place and go after the lost one until he finds it? ⁵ And finding it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And coming to the house, he calls together the friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that had been lost. ⁷ I say to you that so is joy in Heaven over one sinner repenting, than over ninety nine righteous ones who have no need of repentance.

¹⁰ I say to you, so there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner repenting.

²¹ And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you, and no longer am I worthy to be called your son. ²² But the father said to his slaves, Bring out the best robe and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet. ²³ And bring the fattened calf, slaughter and let us eat and be merry; ²⁴ for this son of mine was dead, and lived again, and was lost, and was found. And they began to be merry. ²⁵ But the older son was in a field. And having come, as he drew near to the house, he heard music and dances. ²⁶ And having called one of the children, he inquired what this may be. ²⁷ And he said to him, Your brother came, and your father killed the fattened calf, because he received him back in health. ²⁸ But he was angry and did not desire to go in. Then coming out, his father begged him. ²⁹ But answering, he said to the father, Behold, so many years I serve you, and never have I transgressed a command of you. And you never gave a goat to me, so that I might be merry with my friends. ³⁰ But when this son of yours came, the one devouring your living with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him. ³¹ But he said to him, Child, you are always with me, and all of my things are yours. ³² But to be merry and to rejoice was right, for this brother of yours was dead, and lived again; and being lost, also he was found.

¹¹ The Pharisee was standing, praying these things to himself: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice in the week; I tithe all things, as many as I get. ¹³ And standing at a distance, the tax collector would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner! ¹⁴ I say to you, this one went down to his house having been justified, rather than that one. For everyone exalting himself will be humbled. And the one humbling himself will be exalted.

¹ Therefore, brothers, I call on you through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁸ But I have all things and more than enough; I have been filled, receiving from Epaphroditus the things from you, an odor of sweet smell, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

¹⁶ But do not be forgetful of doing good and sharing, for God is well pleased with such sacrifices.

⁵ you also as living stones are being built a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
