¹ They passed by the cities of Am-phipÆolis and Ap-ol-loÆni-a, and came to Thessa- lo-niÆca, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.

¹ AND Paul and BarÆna-bas entered into the Jewish synagogue and addressed the people in such manner that a great many of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

²¹ For Moses, from the very early centuries, had preachers in the synagogues in every city to read his books on every sabbath day.

¹³ And on the sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the river side because a house of prayer was seen there, and when we were seated, we spoke to the women who had gathered there.

¹¹ For the Jews there were more liberal than the Jews who were in Thes-sa-lo-niÆca, in that they gladly heard the word daily, and searched the scriptures to find out if these things were so.

¹³ But when the Jews of Thes-sa-lo-niÆca found out that the word of God was preached by Paul in the city of Be-reÆa, they came there also; and ceased not to stir up and alarm the people.

⁴ And there accompanied him, as far as Asia Minor, SopÆa-ter of the city of Be-reÆa and Ar-is-tarÆchus and Se-cunÆdus of Thes-sa-loniÆca and GaÆius of the city of DerÆbe and Ti-moÆthe-us of LyÆstra, and from Asia Minor TychÆi-cus and TrophÆi-mus.

² When we were ready to sail, we embarked in a ship of the city of Ad-ra-mytÆti-um, bound for Asia Minor, and there boarded the ship with us, Ar-is-tarÆchus a Mac-e-doÆnian of the city of Thes-sa-lo-niÆca.
