¹ THEN Festus commanded him to be sent to Cµsar in Italy, and he delivered Paul together with other prisoners to a centurion of the company of Se-basÆti-an named Julius.

⁵ When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him, and appealed to him, ⁶ Saying, My Lord, my boy is lying in the house, paralyzed, and suffering greatly. ⁷ Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him. ⁸ The centurion then answered and said, My Lord, I am not good enough that you should enter under the shadow of my roof; but just say a word, and my boy will be healed. ⁹ For I am also a man in government service, and there are soldiers under my command; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to the other, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. ¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he was amazed, and he said to those who accompanied him, Truly I say to you, that not even in Israel have I found such faith as this.

⁵⁴ When the centurion and those who were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and all that happened, they were very much frightened, and they said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

² Now the servant of a centurion was seriously sick, one who was very dear to him; and he was near death.

⁴⁷ When the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said, Truly this was a righteous man.

¹ THERE was in Cµs-a-reÆa a man called Cornelius, a centurion of the regiment which is called the Italian,

²² They said to him, A man called Cornelius, a righteous and God-fearing centurion of whom all the Jewish people speak well, was told in a vision by a holy angel to send and bring you to his house and to hear words from you.

¹⁰ And after Paul had seen this vision, we were desirous to leave for Mac-e-doÆni-a at once, because we understood that our LORD had called us to preach the gospel to them.*

² And there he found a Jew named AÆqui-la, from the region of Pontus, who had just arrived from Italy with his wife Pris-cilÆla, because ClauÆdi-us CµsÆar had commanded all Jews to leave Rome: and Paul went to them.

²¹ When these things had been accomplished, Paul made up his mind to travel through all of Mac-e-doÆni-a and A-chaÆia, and then to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

³² He immediately took a centurion and many soldiers, and ran down to them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they ceased beating Paul.

²⁶ When the centurion heard that, he went to the chief captain and said, Be careful what you do: for this man is a Roman citizen.

¹¹ During the night, our LORD appeared to Paul and said, Be strong, for as you have testified concerning me at Jerusalem, so also you are to testify at Rome.

¹⁷ Then Paul sent for and called one of the centurions, and said, Take this young man to the captain, for he has something to tell him.

²³ And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul in comfort, and that none of his acquaintances should be prevented from ministering to him.

¹² Festus, when he had conferred with his counsellors, decreed, You have appealed to Cµsar. You will go to Cµsar.

²⁵ But when I found he had done nothing worthy of death, and because he himself had appealed to be kept in custody for a trial before Cµsar, I commanded to send him.

⁶ And there the centurion found a ship from Al-ex-anÆdri-a bound for Italy; and he put us on board of it.

¹¹ Nevertheless, the centurion listened to the master and owner of the ship more than to the words of Paul.

⁴³ But the centurion stopped them from doing this, because he was willing to save Paul; so he commanded those who could swim to cast themselves first into the sea and get to land.

¹⁶ Then we entered Rome, and the centurion gave permission to Paul to live wherever he pleased with a soldier to guard him.

²² This is the reason why I have been many times prevented from coming to you. ²³ But now since I have no place in these countries, and as I have been desirous for many years past to come to you, ²⁴ When I leave for Spain, I hope to come to see you: and I hope that you will escort me thence after I have more or less fully enjoyed my visit. ²⁵ But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. ²⁶ For the brethren in Mac-e-doÆni-a and A-chaÆia have been pleased to take part in helping the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. ²⁷ They have been eager to do it, because they are indebted to them, for if the Gentiles have been made partakers with them, of their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them in material things. ²⁸ When, therefore, I have accomplished this and have finished distributing to them this kind of help, I will cross over toward you on my way to Spain. ²⁹ I know that, when I come to you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

²⁴ Salute all your spiritual leaders and all the saints. All of the brethren of Italy salute you.
