¹ And it happened in the time Apollos was at Corinth, Paul was passing through the higher parts to Ephesus. And finding certain disciples,

¹ And after these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.

¹⁹ And he came to Ephesus and left them there. But he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. ²⁰ And they asking him to stay a longer time with them, he did not consent ²¹ but took leave of them, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that is coming in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you, God willing. And he sailed from Ephesus.

²³ And after he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples. ²⁴ And a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. ²⁵ This man was instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught the things of the Lord diligently, knowing only the baptism of John. ²⁶ And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. And Aquila and Priscilla heard him, and they took him and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly. ²⁷ And intending to pass into Achaia, being encouraged, the brothers wrote to the disciples to welcome him; who, having arrived, very much helped those who had believed through grace. ²⁸ For he mightily confuted the Jews publicly, proving by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

¹² But I say this, that every one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

⁴ For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal? ⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to each? ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he who plants anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

¹² As regards our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come to you with the brothers, but it was not altogether his will that he come now. But he will come when he has opportunity.
