² And Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, I pray you, put your hand under my thigh.

² And Abram said, Lord God, what will You give me, since I am going childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him concerning the matter. ¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed. For all the goods of his master were in his hand. And he arose, and went to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor.

⁴ And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him. ⁸ But he refused and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and he has given all that he has into my hand. ⁹ There is none greater in this house than I. Neither has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

¹ And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each one's silver in his sack's mouth.

²⁹ And the days of Israel to die drew near. And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If now I have found grace in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt.
