⁴ Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

² And I will make you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you shall be a blessing.

²⁰ And blessed be the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

⁵ Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham. For I have made you a father of many nations. ⁶ And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, greatly so, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you.

²⁹ Men, brothers, it is permitted to say to you with plainness as to the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

⁸ And He gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham fathered Isaac and circumcised him the eighth day. And Isaac fathered Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs. ⁹ And being jealous of Joseph, the patriarchs sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him

¹¹ And he received a sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith while still uncircumcised; so that he might be the father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be imputed to them also; ¹² and a father of circumcision to those not of the circumcision only, but also to those walking by the steps of the faith of our father Abraham during uncircumcision. ¹³ For the promise that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.

¹⁷ (as it has been written, "I have made you a father of many nations") --before God, whom he believed, who makes the dead live, and calls the things which do not exist as though they do exist. ¹⁸ For he who beyond hope believed on hope for him to become the father of many nations (according to that which was spoken, "So your seed shall be").

²⁸ There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God."
