¹ And Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly,

¹¹ And Jehovah brought on them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh among the thorns and bound him with chains and carried him to Babylon. ¹² And when he was in affliction, he sought Jehovah his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he prayed to Him, and He was entreated of him, and heard his prayer, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. And Manasseh knew that Jehovah is God.

¹⁵ Though he slay me, I will not wait, but I will maintain my own ways before Him.

¹⁵ and call on Me in the day of trouble; and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

¹⁵ He shall call on Me, and I will answer Him; I will be with Him in trouble; I will deliver Him, and honor Him.

¹ A Song of degrees. Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Jehovah. ² Lord, hear my voice, and let Your ears listen to the voice of My prayers.

¹⁶ Jehovah, in trouble they have visited You; they poured out a prayer; Your chastening was on them.

⁵³ They have cut off my life in the pit, and cast a stone at me. ⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head; then I said, I am cut off. ⁵⁵ I called on Your name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest pit. ⁵⁶ You have heard my voice; do not hide Your ear at my relief, at my cry for help.

¹⁵ I will go; I will return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will seek Me diligently.

²⁴ who, having received such a command, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks. ²⁵ And toward midnight Paul and Silas prayed and praised God in a hymn. And the prisoners listened to them.

¹³ Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
