⁵² My haters have hunted me, like a bird, without cause.

¹⁰ Behold, your eyes have seen today how Jehovah had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. And one said to kill you. But I had pity on you. And I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord, for he is Jehovah's anointed. ¹¹ And, my father, behold! Yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand. For in that I cut off the skirt of your robe and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my soul to take it. ¹² May Jehovah judge between me and you, and may Jehovah avenge me of you. But my hand shall not be on you. ¹³ As the ancient proverb says, Wickedness proceeds from the wicked. But my hand shall not be on you. ¹⁴ After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog? After a flea? ¹⁵ May Jehovah therefore be judge, and judge between you and me, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.

²⁸ Please forgive the trespass of your handmaid. For Jehovah will certainly make a sure house for my lord, because my lord fights the battles of Jehovah, and evil has not been found in you all your days. ²⁹ Yet a man has risen to pursue you and to seek your soul. But the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with Jehovah your God. And the souls of your enemies, He shall sling them from the hollow of a sling.

¹⁸ And he said, Why does my lord pursue after his servant this way? For what have I done? Or what evil is in my hand? ¹⁹ And now, please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If Jehovah has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. But if it is the sons of men, they are cursed before Jehovah. For they have driven me out today from joining myself with the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods. ²⁰ And now, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of Jehovah. For the king of Israel has come out to seek a flea, as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I put my trust in Jehovah; how can you say to me, Flee like a bird to the mountains;

⁷ For without cause they have spread their net for me in a pit-net; without cause they have dug for my soul.

¹⁹ Let not those who are my lying enemies rejoice over me, those who hate me without cause wink with the eye.

⁴ They who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they who would destroy me are mighty, my lying enemies. Then I restored what I did not take away.

³ And they surrounded me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

¹⁵ And the rulers were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison, the house of Jonathan the scribe. For they had made that the prison. ¹⁶ When Jeremiah had entered into the house of the pit, and into the cells, then Jeremiah remained there many days.

¹⁸ And Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What have I offended against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?

⁴ And the rulers said to the king, Please let this man be put to death. For in this way he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the good of this people, but the hurt. ⁵ Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand. For the king cannot do a thing against you. ⁶ And they took Jeremiah and threw him into the pit of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, which was in the court of the prison. And they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And there was no water in the pit, only mud. So Jeremiah sank into the mud.

²⁵ But that the Word might be fulfilled that is written in their Law, "They hated Me without a cause."
