¹¹ (for the children had not yet been born, neither had done any good or evil; but that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who called,)

⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

²⁴ Jehovah of Hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand;

²⁶ This is the purpose that is purposed on all the earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out on all the nations. ²⁷ For Jehovah of Hosts has purposed, and who shall reverse it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

⁹ Jehovah of Hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory and to bring into contempt all the weighty of the earth.

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from the past things which were not done, saying, My purpose shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure; ¹¹ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my purpose from a far country. Yes, I have spoken, I will also cause it to come; I have formed; yes, I will do it.

²⁹ And the land shall tremble and writhe. For every purpose of Jehovah shall be done against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desert without inhabitant.

¹⁷ (as it has been written, "I have made you a father of many nations") --before God, whom he believed, who makes the dead live, and calls the things which do not exist as though they do exist.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among many brothers. ³⁰ But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, those He also justified. And whom He justified, these He also glorified.

⁵ Even so then, also in this present time a remnant according to the election of grace has come into being. ⁶ But if by grace, then it is no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it is of works, then it is no more of grace; otherwise work is no more work. ⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which it seeks, but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened

⁴ according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, ⁵ having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

⁹ having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, ¹⁰ for an administration of the fullness of times, to head up all things in Christ, both the things in Heaven, and the things on earth, even in Him, ¹¹ in whom also we have been chosen to an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His own will,

³ among whom we also had our way of life in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

⁹ not of works, lest anyone should boast.

¹¹ according to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord;

⁴ knowing, beloved brothers, your election of God.

¹² that you should walk worthy of God, who has called you to His kingdom and glory. ¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the eternal times.

⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁰ But the God of all grace, He calling us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

¹⁰ Therefore, brothers, rather be diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things, you shall never fall.

¹⁴ These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them. For He is Lord of lords and King of kings. And those with Him are the called and elect and faithful ones.
