² And every man who was in distress and every man who was in debt and every man who was discontented, gathered themselves to him and he became captain over them. And there were with him about four hundred men.

³ Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and dwelt in the land of Tob. And vain fellows were gathered to Jephthah and they went out with him.

²⁵ And the sons of Dan said to him, Do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows fall upon you* and you lose your life, with the lives of your household.

¹⁰ And she was in bitterness of soul and prayed to Jehovah and wept much.

¹⁶ Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin and you will anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. And he will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.

¹³ Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah and went wherever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah and he ceased to go forth.

¹³ And David said to his men, Gird you* on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword and David also girded on his sword. And there went up after David about four hundred men and two hundred abode by the baggage.

¹⁵ But the men were very good to us and we were not hurt, neither did we miss anything as long as we went with them when we were in the fields. ¹⁶ They were a wall to us both by night and by day all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

⁶ And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters. But David strengthened himself in Jehovah his God.

²² Then answered all the wicked men and worthless fellows of those who went with David and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them anything of the spoil that we have recovered except to every man his wife and his children that he may lead them away and depart.
²³ Then David said, You* will not do so, my brothers, with what Jehovah has given to us, who has preserved us and delivered the troop that came against us into our hand. ²⁴ And who will listen to you* in this matter? For as his share is who goes down to the battle so will his share be who remains by the baggage; they will share alike.

² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And Jehovah said to you, You will be shepherd of my people Israel and you will be prince over Israel.

⁸ Hushai said moreover, You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men and they are chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. And your father is a man of war and will not lodge with the people.

⁵ Turn back and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Jehovah says thus, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you will go up to the house of Jehovah.

¹⁵ And three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David into the cave of Adullam. And the army of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim. ¹⁶ And David was then in the stronghold and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
¹⁷ And David longed and said, Oh that a man would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! ¹⁸ And the three broke through the army of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David. But David would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah, ¹⁹ and said, My God forbid it of me, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy? For with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.

¹² Because he will deliver a needy man when he cries and a poor man, who has no helper. ¹³ He will have pity on a poor and needy man and he will save the souls of the needy.
¹⁴ He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. And their blood will be precious in his sight,

⁶ Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish and wine to the bitter in soul.

¹² But Jesus having heard it, said to them, Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are ill. ¹³ Now when you travel on, learn what is meant by, ‘I will to have mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

¹² But from the days of John the Immerser until now the kingdom of the heavens suffers-violently and the violent ones seize it.

²⁸ Come-here to me, all you who labor and have been loaded down, and I will be giving-rest to you.

²⁵ But he did not have anything to repay him with, so his lord commanded him and his wife and children and all things, as many things as he was holding, to be sold and the money to be repaid to him.
²⁶ Therefore the bondservant falling down, was worshiping him, saying, Lord, have patience upon me, and I will be repaying all of it to you. ²⁷ But the lord of that bondservant, having compassion on him, released him and forgave him the loan.
²⁸ But that bondservant went out and found one of his fellow bondservants who owed him a hundred denarii, and he took-hold of him, and was choking him, saying, Repay if you are owing me anything.
²⁹ Therefore his fellow bondservant, falling down at his feet, was pleading with him, saying, Have patience upon me and I will be repaying you. ³⁰ But he did not wish to, but went and cast him into prison, until he should repay what is owed. ³¹ But his fellow bondservants, having seen the things which had happened, were extremely sorrowful. And they came to their own lord, and they told all the things which had happened.
³² Then his lord called him, and says to him, You evil bondservant, I forgave you all that debt, since you pleaded with me. ³³ It was essential for you to have shown-mercy also on your fellow bondservant, like I also had shown-mercy to you. ³⁴ And his lord, was angry and gave him to the torturers until he should repay everything which is owed to him.

¹⁰ For it was suitable for him, because of whom are all things and through whom are all things, having led many sons to glory, to complete the author of their salvation through sufferings.
