¹⁷ Therefore, if God gave to them the equal gift like he also did to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, now who was I, that I am able to forbid God?

¹² Behold, he seizes; who can hinder him? Who will say to him, What are you doing? ¹³ God will not withdraw his anger. The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.
¹⁴ How much less shall I answer him and choose out my words to reason with him?

¹³ Why do you strive against him because he does not give account of any of his matters?

² Shall he who quibbles contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?
⁹ Or have you an arm like God? And can you thunder with a voice like him?

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing and he does according to his will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. And none can stay his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

¹⁴ Take up the thing which is yours and go away. It is my will to give to this last one, as I also did to you. ¹⁵ Or is it not legal for me to do what I will in the things which are mine? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?

³⁹ but if it is from God, you will not be able to tear it down; lest you might be found even to be quarreling against God.

⁴⁵ And the believing ones from the circumcision, were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit has also been poured out upon the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ Is anyone able to forbid the water, that these people should not be immersed, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

¹⁵ Now while I was beginning to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just-like upon us also in the beginning.

⁸ And God, the knower of hearts, testified of them, having given them the Holy Spirit, just-as he did also to us; ⁹ and he made no distinction between us and them in the faith, having cleansed their hearts.

¹⁵ For he says to Moses, ‘I will show-mercy to whomever I show-mercy and I will have pity on whomever I have pity.’ ¹⁶ Therefore consequently, it is not from the one who wills, nor from the one who runs, but from God, the one who shows-mercy.

²⁰ But-rather, O man, who are you who answers back against God? The molded thing will not say to the one who molded it, why did you make me so, will it? ²¹ Or does the potter not have authority over the clay, to make out of the same batch one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? ²² But what if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, carried us, vessels of wrath having been framed for destruction, in much patience; ²³ and in order that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory, ²⁴ whom he also invited, not only from the Jews, but also from the Gentiles?
²⁵ As he also says in Hosea, ‘I will be calling those who are not my people, my people, and those not beloved, beloved.’ ²⁶ And it will be, in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people; they will be called sons of the living God there.’

³⁴ For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become his counselor? ³⁵ Or who has first-given to him and it will be repaid to him again? \ulnone\nosupersub ³⁶ It is because all things are from him and through him and to him. The glory is for him, forever. Amen.
