² and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one, that these satraps might give account to them and that the king should have no damage.

³⁰ Therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, says, I said indeed that your house and the house of your father, should walk before me everlasting, but now Jehovah says, Be it far from me, for those who honor me I will honor and those who despise me will be lightly esteemed.

²² And take heed that you* are not slack in this matter. Why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?

⁴ For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I would have held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king's damage.

⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel great and gave him many great gifts and made him to rule over the whole province of Babylon and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.
⁴⁹ And Daniel requested of the king and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon, but Daniel was in the gate of the king.

¹⁶ But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me the interpretation of it, you will be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold about your neck and will be the third ruler in the kingdom.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold about his neck and made proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

²³ Because of this, the kingdom of the heavens has been similar to a certain king who wished to settle the account with his bondservants.

² And having summoned him, he said to him, What is this that I am hearing concerning you? Give me the account of your stewardship; for you are not able to be a steward any longer.

¹³ Now he called ten of his bondservants, and gave them ten two-hundred denarius coins, and said to them, Trade with this until I come. ¹⁴ But his citizens were hating him and sent an ambassador after him, saying, We do not wish that this one reign over us. ¹⁵ And it happened, while he was coming back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these bondservants, to whom he gave the silver, to be summoned to him, in order that he might know what they had made by trading.
¹⁶ Now the first came before him, saying, Lord, your two-hundred denarius coin has been worked up to ten two-hundred denarius coins more. ¹⁷ And he said to him, Well done, you good bondservant, because you became faithful in the least matters; you have ten cities, be the authority over them,. ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, Your two-hundred denarius coin, Lord, has produced five two-hundred denarius coins. ¹⁹ But he also said to him, You, become the authority over five cities. ²⁰ And a different bondservant came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your two-hundred denarius coin, which I had laid up in a handkerchief; ²¹ for I was fearing you, because you are an austere man. You lift up from what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.
²² But he says to him, I will be judging you out of your own mouth, you evil bondservant. You knew that I am an austere man, lifting up from what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? ²³ Then why did you not give my silver to the bank, and when I came back, I would have appropriated it together with interest?
²⁴ And he said to those standing beside him, Take away the two-hundred denarius coin from him, and give it to the one who has the ten two-hundred denarius coins.
²⁵ And they said to him, Lord, he has ten two-hundred denarius coins. Why?
²⁶ For I say to you, that to everyone who has, will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away from him. ²⁷ However my enemies, those men who did not wish that I should reign over them, lead them here and slaughter them before me.

² But furthermore, it is required in stewards, in order that someone should be found faithful.
