¹ When you go forth to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots, and a people more than you, you will not be afraid of them, for Jehovah your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
² And it will be, when you* draw near to the battle, that the priest will approach and speak to the people, ³ and will say to them, Hear, O Israel, you* draw near this day to battle against your* enemies. Do not let your* heart faint. Do not fear, nor tremble, neither be you* frightened at them. ⁴ For Jehovah your* God is he who goes with you*, to fight for you* against your* enemies, to save you*.
⁵ And the officers will speak to the people, saying, What man is there who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man dedicate it.
⁶ And what man is there who has planted a vineyard and has not used the fruit of it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man use the fruit of it.
⁷ And what man is there who has betrothed a wife and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man take her.
⁸ And the officers will speak further to the people and they will say, What man is there who is fearful and faint-hearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother's heart melt as his heart.
⁹ And it will be, when the officers have made an end of speaking to the people, that they will appoint captains of armies at the head of the people.
¹⁰ When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. ¹¹ And it will be, if it makes to you an answer of peace and opens to you, then it will be, that all the people that are found in it will become forced-labor to you and will serve you.
¹² And if it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you will besiege it. ¹³ And when Jehovah your God delivers it into your hand, you will kill* every male of it with the edge of the sword, ¹⁴ but the women and the little ones and the cattle and all that is in the city, even all the spoil of it, you will take for a prey to yourself. And you will eat the spoil of your enemies, which Jehovah your God has given you.
¹⁵ Thus you will do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.
¹⁶ But of the cities of these peoples, that Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance, you will save alive nothing that breathes, ¹⁷ but you will utterly destroy them–the Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite–as Jehovah your God has commanded you, ¹⁸ that they not teach you* to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods, so you* would sin against Jehovah your* God.
¹⁹ When you will besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you will not destroy the trees of it by wielding an axe against them, for you may eat of them. And you will not cut them down, for is the tree of the field a man, that it should be besieged by you? ²⁰ Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you will destroy and cut them down. And you will build ramparts against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.

³ Travel in this land and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and to your seed, I will give all these lands and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father.

²¹ He has not beheld wickedness in Jacob, neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. Jehovah his God is with him and the shout of a king is among them.

⁷ For Jehovah your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years Jehovah your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.

²¹ And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Your eyes have seen all that Jehovah your* God has done to these two kings. So will Jehovah do to all the kingdoms where you go over. ²² You* will not fear them, for Jehovah your* God, he it is who fights for you*.

¹ When Jehovah your God will bring you into the land where you go to possess it and will cast out many nations before you, the Hittite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

⁶ Be strong and of good courage, do not fear, nor be frightened at them, for Jehovah your God, he it is who goes with you. He will not leave you, nor forsake you.

⁸ And Jehovah, he it is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you. Do not fear, neither be dismayed.

⁵ There will not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

⁹ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage. Do not be frightened, neither be dismayed, for Jehovah your God is with you wherever you go.

⁵ Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together and went up, they and all their armies and encamped against Gibeon and made war against it. ⁶ And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not your hand from your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the hill-country are gathered together against us.
⁷ So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the mighty men of valor. ⁸ And Jehovah said to Joshua, Fear them not, for I have delivered them into your hands. There will not a man of them stand before you.

⁴ And they went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is upon the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots, very many. ⁵ And all these kings met together. And they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
⁶ And Jehovah said to Joshua, Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I will deliver them up all slain before Israel. You will hock their horses and burn their chariots with fire.

⁹ And Joshua did to them as Jehovah commanded him. He hocked their horses and burnt their chariots with fire.

³ And the sons of Israel cried to Jehovah, for he had nine hundred chariots of iron and he mightily oppressed the sons of Israel twenty years.
⁴ Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, she judged Israel at that time. ⁵ And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill-country of Ephraim and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment.
⁶ And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, Has not Jehovah, the God of Israel, commanded, saying, Go and draw near to Mount Tabor and take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun? ⁷ And I will draw Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, to you, to the river Kishon, with his chariots and his multitude and I will deliver him into your hand.
⁸ And Barak said to her, If you will go with me, then I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go. ⁹ And she said, I will surely go with you. Notwithstanding, the journey that you take will not be for your honor, for Jehovah will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.

¹² And the messenger of Jehovah appeared to him and said to him, Jehovah is with you, you mighty man of valor.

¹¹ And Asa cried to Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and he who has no strength. Help us, O Jehovah our God. For we rely on you and in your name we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, you are our God. Do not let man prevail against you.

¹² O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us. Neither do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.

⁷ Be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid nor dismayed of the king of Assyria, nor of all the multitude that is with him. For there is a greater with us than with him. ⁸ With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is Jehovah our God to help us and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

⁷ Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God.

¹⁶ There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. ¹⁷ A horse is a vain thing for safety, nor does he deliver any by his great power.

⁶ Jehovah is on my side, I will not fear. What can man do to me?

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you* a sign: Behold, a virgin will conceive and bear a son and will call his name Immanuel.

⁹ Make an uproar, O you* peoples and be broken in pieces. And listen, all you* of far countries. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. ¹⁰ Take counsel together and it will be brought to nothing. Speak the word and it will not stand, for God is with us.

¹ Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek Jehovah!

²⁴ You have defied the Lord by your servants and have said, I have come up to the height of the mountains with the multitude of my chariots, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. And I will cut down the tall cedars of it and the choice fir trees of it and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field. ²⁵ I have dug and drunk water and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, nor will the flame kindle upon you.

³¹ Therefore what will we say to these things? If God is working on our behalf, who is against us?

⁸ And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will blow the trumpets and they will be to you* for an everlasting statute throughout your* genealogy. ⁹ And when you* go to war in your* land against the adversary that oppresses you*, then you* will shout out an alarm with the trumpets. And you* will be remembered before Jehovah your* God and you* will be saved from your* enemies.

⁶ And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

²⁷ And the sons of Israel asked of Jehovah (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days, ²⁸ and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the sons of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And Jehovah said, Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver him into your hand.

¹⁸ And Saul said to Ahijah, Bring here the ark of God. For the ark of God was there at that time with the sons of Israel.

⁷ And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, I beseech you, bring me here the ephod. And Abiathar brought there the ephod to David. ⁸ And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, If I pursue after this troop, shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue, for you will surely overtake them and will without fail recover all.

¹² And behold, God is with us at our head and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to shout an alarm against you*. O sons of Israel, do not fight against Jehovah, the God of your* fathers. For you* will not prosper.

¹⁰ One man of you* will chase a thousand, for Jehovah your* God, he it is who fights for you*, as he spoke to you*.

⁶ I will not be afraid of ten thousands of the people who have set themselves against me all around.

¹ Jehovah is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
² When evildoers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though an army should encamp against me, my heart will not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.

¹² Do not say, A conspiracy, concerning all of which this people will say, A conspiracy, nor fear their fear, nor be in dread of it. ¹³ Jehovah of hosts, him you* will sanctify and let him be your* fear and let him be your* dread.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner- stone, a sure foundation. He who believes in him will never be shamed.

³ Strengthen you* the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees. ⁴ Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, do not fear. Behold, your* God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you*.

¹⁰ Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
¹¹ 1 Behold, all those who are incensed against you will be put to shame and confounded. Those who strive with you will be as nothing and will perish. ¹² You will seek them and will not find them, even those who contend with you. Those who war against you will be as nothing and as a thing of nothing. ¹³ For I, Jehovah your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Do not fear, I will help you.
¹⁴ Do not fear, you worm Jacob and you* men of Israel. I will help you, says Jehovah and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

⁷ Upon a high and lofty mountain you have set your bed. You also went up there to offer sacrifice. ⁸ And behind the doors and the posts you have set up your memorial. For you have uncovered yourself to another than me and have gone up. You have enlarged your bed and made you a covenant with them. You loved their bed where you saw it.

²⁶ And he says to them, Why are you cowardly? You of small faith! Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there became a great calm.

¹⁶ Behold, I am sending you forth like sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore, become prudent like serpents and harmless like doves.

²⁸ And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³¹ Therefore do not fear, because you are carrying more-value than many sparrows.

⁶ Now he says to them, Do not be utterly amazed. You are seeking Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He was raised. He is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him.

¹⁸ they will be lifting up serpents and even if they drink anything deadly, it may never harm them; they will lay hands upon the sick and they will be well.

⁹ Now the Lord said to Paul through a vision in the night, Do not be afraid, but speak out and do not be silent, ¹⁰ because I am with you and no one will be laying a hand on you to mistreat you, because there are many people in this city believing in me.

²⁴ saying, Do not fear, Paul; it is essential for you to stand-before Caesar and behold, God has granted to you all those who are sailing with you.

¹¹ Clothe yourselves with the full-armor of God, that you may be able to stand up to the schemes of the devil. ¹² Because the wrestling in us is not with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world dominions of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual ones of wickedness in the heavenly places. \ulnone\nosupersub ¹³ Because of this, take up the full-armor of God, in order that you may be able to stand against the devil in the evil day, and to stand straight, having worked against all things. ¹⁴ Therefore stand, having girded your loins in truth and having clothed yourselves with the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having tied the feet with the readiness of the good-news of peace. ¹⁶ Upon all these things, when you have taken up the shield of the faith, in which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one; \ulnone\nosupersub ¹⁷ also able to accept the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, ¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication praying in all seasons in the Spirit and watching in this same thing in all perseverance and supplication concerning all the holy-ones.

¹⁵ See that not anyone repays evil in exchange-for evil to anyone, but always pursue the good, both toward one another and toward all.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith, grab the everlasting life, to which you were called and professed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

¹² Hence straighten the drooping hands and the paralyzed knees; ¹³ and make^*\'b0 straightened tracks for your feet, in order that what is lame may not be turned aside, but rather should be healed.

⁶ So-that we, being courageous, may say, The Lord is my helper and I will not be fearing. What will man be doing for me?

¹⁰ Let no one fear the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some from you into prison, in order that you may be tested and you will have affliction ten days. Become faithful to death and I will be giving you the crown of life.

¹⁴ Jehovah will fight for you* and you* will keep silent.

³⁰ Jehovah your* God who goes before you*, he will fight for you*, according to all that he did for you* in Egypt before your* eyes,

²² You* will not fear them, for Jehovah your* God, he it is who fights for you*.

²⁵ There will no man be able to stand before you*. Jehovah your* God will lay the fear of you* and the dread of you* upon all the land that you* will tread upon, as he has spoken to you*.

³⁰ How should one chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to flight unless their Rock had sold them and Jehovah had delivered them up?

⁴² And all these kings and their land Joshua took at one time, because Jehovah, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.

¹ Praise Jehovah, my rock, who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight, ² my loving kindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

³⁷ But we are victorious in all these things through the one who loved us.

¹⁴ And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

⁴⁸ And the officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses.

¹⁵ So I took the heads of your* tribes, wise men and known and made them heads over you*, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds and captains of fifties and captains of tens and officers, according to your* tribes.

¹⁸ You will make judges and officers for you in all your gates, which Jehovah your God gives you, according to your tribes and they will judge the people with righteous judgment.

¹⁸ And bring these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand. And look how your brothers fare and take their pledge.

²⁷ And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries and with harps.

¹ I will lift you up, O Jehovah, because you have raised me up and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.

²³ And when you* will come into the land and will have planted all manner of trees for food, then you* will count the fruit of it as their uncircumcision. Three years they will be as uncircumcised to you*; it will not be eaten. ²⁴ But in the fourth year all the fruit of it will be holy, for giving praise to Jehovah. ²⁵ And in the fifth year you* will eat of the fruit of it, that it may yield to you* the increase of it. I am Jehovah your* God.

¹ And it will happen, if you will listen diligently to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that Jehovah your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth, ² and all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will listen to the voice of Jehovah your God:
³ You will be blessed in the city and you will be blessed in the field. ⁴ The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. ⁶ You will be blessed when you come in and you will be blessed when you go out.
⁷ Jehovah will cause your enemies that rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ Jehovah will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to. And he will bless you in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.
⁹ Jehovah will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you will keep the commandments of Jehovah your God and walk in his ways. ¹⁰ And all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of Jehovah and they will be afraid of you.
¹¹ And Jehovah will make you plenteous for good, in the fruit of your body and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers to give you.
¹² Jehovah will open to you his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. And you will lend to many nations and you will not borrow.
¹³ And Jehovah will make you the head and not the tail. And you will only be above and you will not be beneath, if you will listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do, ¹⁴ and will not turn aside from any of the words which I command you* this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
¹⁵ But it will happen, if you will not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
¹⁶ You will be cursed in the city and you will be cursed in the field. ¹⁷ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be cursed. ¹⁸ The fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock will be cursed. ¹⁹ You will be cursed when you come in and you be will cursed when you go out. ²⁰ Jehovah will send upon you cursing, confusion and rebuke, in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the evil of your practices, by which you have forsaken me.
²¹ Jehovah will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from the land, where you go in to possess it. ²² Jehovah will kill* you with consumption and with fever and with inflammation and with fiery heat and with the sword and with blight and with mildew. And they will pursue you until you perish.
²³ And your sky that is over your head will be brass and the earth that is under you will be iron. ²⁴ Jehovah will make the rain of your land powder and dust. From the sky it will come down upon you, until you are destroyed.
²⁵ Jehovah will cause you to be struck before your enemies. You will go out one way against them and will flee seven ways before them. And you will be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ And your dead body will be food to all birds of the sky and to the beasts of the earth and there will be none to frighten them away.
²⁷ Jehovah will kill* you with the boils of Egypt and with the tumors and with the scurvy and with the itch, of which you cannot be healed.
²⁸ Jehovah will kill* you with madness and with blindness and with confusion of mind, ²⁹ and you will grope at noonday, as the blind man gropes in darkness. And you will not prosper in your ways. And you will only be oppressed and robbed always and there will be none to save you.
³⁰ You will betroth a wife and another man will lie with her. You will build a house and you will not dwell in it. You will plant a vineyard and will not use the fruit of it.

²² They will not build and another inhabit. They will not plant and another eat. For as the days of a tree will be the days of my people and my chosen will long enjoy the work of their hands.

⁵ Again you will plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria. The planters will plant and will enjoy it.

¹³ And their wealth will become a spoil and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but will not inhabit them and they will plant vineyards, but will not drink the wine of it.

²³ If there is a maiden who is a virgin betrothed to a husband and a man finds her in the city and lies with her, ²⁴ then you* will bring them both out to the gate of that city. And you* will stone them to death with stones, the maiden, because she did not cry out, being in the city and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife. So you will put away the evil from the midst of you.
²⁵ But if the man finds the maiden who is betrothed in the field and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her will die,

⁵ When a man takes a new wife, he will not go out in the army, neither will he be charged with any business. He will be free at home one year and will cheer his wife whom he has taken.

³⁰ You will betroth a wife and another man will lie with her. You will build a house and you will not dwell in it. You will plant a vineyard and will not use the fruit of it.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: for when his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And they all, from one desire, began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I have bought a field, and I have a necessity to go out and to see it; I request of you, have me excused.
¹⁹ And a different one said, I have bought five yoke of bulls, and I am traveling on to test them; I request of you, have me excused.
²⁰ And a different one said, I have married a wife, and because of this, I am not able to come.

⁴ No active soldier entangles himself in the tradeoffs of this life, in order that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed, the mighty men of Moab. Trembling takes hold upon them. All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away.

³¹ But the men who went up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.

⁹ For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the sons of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Jehovah had given them.

²⁸ Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.

⁹ When the army goes forth against your enemies, then you will keep you from every evil thing.

³ Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty-two thousand and there remained ten thousand.

⁶² But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand upon the plow and looking behind, is fit for the kingdom of God.

³⁷ Now Barnabas also planned to take together with them John, the one called Mark. ³⁸ But Paul was not deeming it worthy to take Mark together with them, the one who withdrew away from them from Pamphylia and did not go together with them to the work.

³³ Do not be misled: evil associations corrupt virtuous morals.

¹⁶ So because you are lukewarm and not hot nor cold, I am about to puke you out of my mouth.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and sinners and detestable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and to all the false witnesses, their part will be in the lake which is burning with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹⁸ Then she spoke, saying, They were accustomed to speak in old time, saying, They will surely ask counsel at Abel and so they ended the matter. ¹⁹ I am of those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of Jehovah?
²⁰ And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy. ²¹ The matter is not so, but a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David. Deliver him only and I will depart from the city. And the woman said to Joab, Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.
²² Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it out to Joab. And he blew the trumpet and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

¹⁹ I create the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near, says Jehovah and I will heal him.

¹⁰ And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem and the battle bow will be cut off. And he will speak peace to the nations. And his dominion will be from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

⁵ Now into whatever house you enter, say first, Peace is to this house. ⁶ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon it, otherwise it will revisit you.

³⁶ The word which he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good-news of peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all).

¹⁸ But all things are from God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ and gave the service of reconciliation to us;

¹⁷ And when he came, he proclaimed the good-news of peace to you who were from afar and peace to those who were near;

⁴² For they are my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt. They will not be sold as bondmen. ⁴³ You will not rule over him with rigor, but will fear your God.
⁴⁴ And as for your bondmen and your bondmaids, whom you will have, from the nations that are all around you*, you* will buy bondmen and bondmaids from them. ⁴⁵ Moreover of the sons of the strangers who journey among you*, you* will buy from them and from their families that are with you*, which they have fathered in your* land and they will be your* possession. ⁴⁶ And you* will make them an inheritance for your* sons after you*, to hold for a possession. You* will take your* everlasting bondmen from them, but over your* brothers the sons of Israel you* will not rule, one over another, with rigor.

²² And Joshua called for them and he spoke to them, saying, Why have you* beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you*, when you* dwell among us? ²³ Now therefore you* are cursed and there will never fail to be bondmen of you*, both hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.

²⁷ And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of Jehovah to this day in the place which he should choose.

¹⁹ There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, except the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon. They took all in battle. ²⁰ For it was of Jehovah to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁰ And they did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim to this day and have become servants to do forced-labor.

²⁸ And it happened, when Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced-labor and did not utterly drive them out.

³⁰ Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them and became subject to forced-labor.
³¹ Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob, ³² but the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, for they did not drive them out.
³³ Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land. Nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became subject to forced-labor.
³⁴ And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill-country, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley, ³⁵ but the Amorites would dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon and in Shaalbim. Yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to forced-labor.

²¹ their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon raised force-labor of bondservants to this day.
²² But of the sons of Israel Solomon made no bondservants, but they were the men of war and his servants and his rulers and his captains and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

⁷ I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.

¹⁴ But his citizens were hating him and sent an ambassador after him, saying, We do not wish that this one reign over us.

⁷ And they warred against Midian as Jehovah commanded Moses and they killed every male. ⁸ And they killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. ⁹ And the sons of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones. And all their cattle and all their flocks and all their goods, they took for a prey.

¹⁷ Now therefore kill every male among the little ones and kill every woman that has known man by lying with him. ¹⁸ But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

¹⁵ For it happened, when David was in Edom and Joab the captain of the army had gone up to bury the slain and had struck every male in Edom ¹⁶ (for Joab and all Israel remained there six months until he had cut off every male in Edom),

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. ⁷ I will tell of the decree. Jehovah said to me, You are my Son, this day I have fathered you. ⁸ Ask of me and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the outermost parts of the earth as your possession. ⁹ You will smash them with a rod of iron, you will dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
¹⁰ Now therefore be wise, O you* kings. Be instructed, you* judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve Jehovah with fear and rejoice with trembling. ¹² Kiss the Son, lest he is angry and you* perish in the way, because his wrath will soon be kindled. All those who take refuge in him are fortunate.

⁸ Your hand will find out all your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you. ⁹ You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath and the fire will devour them.

¹ Jehovah says to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.

²⁷ However my enemies, those men who did not wish that I should reign over them, lead them here and slaughter them before me.

⁷ and to you who are afflicted with us, a rest at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the messengers of his power, ⁸ giving vengeance in a fire of flame to those who do not know God and to those who are not obeying the good-news of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁹ who will be suffering-punishment, the sentence of everlasting utter-destruction away from the face of the Lord, and away from the glory of his strength,

⁹ And the sons of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones. And all their cattle and all their flocks and all their goods, they took for a prey.

¹² And they brought the captives and the prey and the spoil, to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.

¹⁸ But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

³⁵ and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of the women who had not known man by lying with him. ³⁶ And the half, which was the portion of those who went out to war, was in number three hundred thirty-seven thousand and five hundred sheep.
³⁷ And Jehovah's tribute of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five. ³⁸ And the oxen were thirty-six thousand, of which Jehovah's tribute was seventy-two. ³⁹ And the donkeys were thirty thousand and five hundred, of which Jehovah's tribute was sixty-one. ⁴⁰ And the persons were sixteen thousand, of whom Jehovah's tribute was thirty-two persons. ⁴¹ And Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah's heave offering, to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses.
⁴² And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses divided off from the men who warred ⁴³ (now the congregation's half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand and five hundred sheep, ⁴⁴ and thirty-six thousand oxen, ⁴⁵ and thirty thousand and five hundred donkeys, ⁴⁶ and sixteen thousand persons), ⁴⁷ even of the sons of Israel's half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast and gave them to the Levites, who kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah commanded Moses.
⁴⁸ And the officers who were over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses. ⁴⁹ And they said to Moses, Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge and there lacks not one man of us. ⁵⁰ And we have brought Jehovah's oblation, what every man has gotten, of jewels of gold, armlets and bracelets, signet-rings, earrings and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah.
⁵¹ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even all worked jewels. ⁵² And all the gold of the heave offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels. ⁵³ (For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.) ⁵⁴ And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.

² And you will do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only the spoil of it and the cattle of it, you* will take for a prey to yourselves. Set an ambush for the city behind it.

¹⁴ And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the sons of Israel took for a prey to themselves, but every man they killed* with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, neither did they leave any who breathed.

⁸ and spoke to them, saying, Return with much wealth to your* tents and with very much cattle, with silver and with gold and with brass and with iron and with very much garments. Divide the spoil of your* enemies with your* brothers.

¹³ And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. And there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves. For they were destroyed before Jehovah and before his army. And they carried away very much booty.
¹⁴ And they killed* all the cities all around Gerar. For the fear of Jehovah came upon them. And they despoiled all the cities. For there was much spoil in them. ¹⁵ They also killed* the tents of cattle and carried away sheep in abundance and camels and returned to Jerusalem.

²⁵ And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies and desirable jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away. And they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.

¹² Kings of armies fled quickly and she who remained at home divided the spoil.

³¹ And I will set your border from the Red Sea even to the sea of the Philistines and from the wilderness to the River. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your* hand and you will drive them out before you.
³² You will make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. ³³ They will not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me, because if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.

² And Israel vowed a vow to Jehovah and said, If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. ³ And Jehovah listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites. And they utterly destroyed them and their cities. And the name of the place was called Hormah.

³⁵ So they killed* him and his sons and all his people, until there was none left to him remaining. And they possessed his land.

⁵² then you* will drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you* and destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their molten images and demolish all their high places.

¹ When Jehovah your God will bring you into the land where you go to possess it and will cast out many nations before you, the Hittite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than you, ² and when Jehovah your God will deliver them up before you and you will kill* them, then you will utterly destroy them. You will make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them. ³ Neither will you make marriages with them. Your daughter you will not give to his son, nor his daughter will you take to your son. ⁴ For he will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods, so the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you* and he will destroy you quickly.

¹⁶ And you will consume all the peoples that Jehovah your God will deliver to you. Your eye will not pity them. Neither will you serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

¹⁷ And the city will be set apart, even it and all that is in it, to Jehovah. Only Rahab the prostitute will live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
¹⁸ But as for you*, only keep yourselves from what is set apart, lest when you* have set it apart, you* take from what is set apart. So you* would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it. ¹⁹ But all the silver and gold and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Jehovah. They will come into the treasury of Jehovah.
²⁰ So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him and they took the city. ²¹ And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old and ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

²⁴ And they answered Joshua and said, Because it was certainly told your servants, how that Jehovah your God commanded his servant Moses to give you* all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you*. Therefore we were very afraid for our lives because of you* and have done this thing.

²⁸ And Joshua took Makkedah on that day and killed* it with the edge of the sword and the king of it. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls that were in it. He left none remaining and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

⁴⁰ So Joshua killed* all the land, the hill-country and the South and the lowland and the slopes and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, commanded.

¹¹ And they killed* all the souls who were in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them. There was none left that breathed and he burnt Hazor with fire.
¹² And all the cities of those kings and all the kings of them, Joshua took and he killed* them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded.

⁵ For my sword has drunk its fill in heaven. Behold, it will come down upon Edom and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. ⁶ The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood. It is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams, for Jehovah has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

¹⁰ Cursed be he who does the work of Jehovah negligently and cursed be he who keeps back his sword from blood.

³⁵ A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says Jehovah and upon the inhabitants of Babylon and upon her rulers and upon her wise men. ³⁶ A sword is upon the boasters and they will become fools. A sword is upon her mighty men and they will be dismayed. ³⁷ A sword is upon their horses and upon their chariots and upon all the mixed people who are in the midst of her and they will become as women. A sword is upon her treasures and they will be robbed.
³⁸ A drought is upon her waters and they will be dried up. For it is a land of graven images and they are mad over idols. ³⁹ Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wolves will dwell there and the ostriches will dwell in it. And it will no more be everlasting inhabited, nor will it be dwelt in from generation to generation. ⁴⁰ As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Jehovah, so will no man dwell there, nor will any son of man journey in it.

²¹ And I will call for a sword against him to all my mountains, says the lord Jehovah. Every man's sword will be against his brother. ²² And I will enter into judgment with him with pestilence and with blood. And I will rain upon him and upon his hordes and upon the many peoples who are with him, an overflowing shower and great hailstones, fire and brimstone.
²³ And I will magnify myself and sanctify myself and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations. And they will know that I am Jehovah.

¹⁸ in order that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit upon them and the flesh of all men, both free men and bondservants and both the little and the great.

³³ They will not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me, because if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.

¹⁶ and you take of their daughters to your sons and their daughters play the prostitute after their gods and make your sons play the prostitute after their gods.

⁴ For he will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods, so the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you* and he will destroy you quickly.
⁵ But thus will you* deal with them: You* will break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and hew down their Asherim and burn their graven images with fire.

³⁰ take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? Even so I will do likewise.
³¹ You will not do so to Jehovah your God. For every abomination to Jehovah, which he hates, they have done to their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

¹⁹ And it will happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he will speak in my name, I will require it of him.

¹³ know for a certainty that Jehovah your* God will no more drive these nations from out of your* sight, but they will be a snare and a trap to you* and a scourge in your* sides and thorns in your* eyes, until you* perish from this good land which Jehovah your* God has given you*.

³ Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you*, but they will be as thorns in your* sides and their gods will be a snare to you*.

³⁴ They did not destroy the peoples, as Jehovah commanded them, ³⁵ but mingled themselves with the nations and learned their works, ³⁶ and served their idols, which became a snare to them.
³⁷ Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, ³⁸ and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. And the land was polluted with blood.
³⁹ Thus they were defiled with their works and played the prostitute in their practices.
⁴⁰ Therefore the wrath of Jehovah was kindled against his people and he detested his inheritance.

¹⁷ Hence ‘Come out from the midst of them and be separate,’says the Lord, ‘And touch no unclean thing, and I will accept you\super\'b0

¹¹ And have no fellowship together with the unfruitful works of darkness, but also rather reprove them;

¹⁴ And if anyone is not obeying our word through this letter, mark that man and do not socialize together with him, in order that he may be embarrassed.

⁵ incessant wranglings of men who have been corrupted in the mind and who have been deprived of the truth, supposing that godliness is a method to earnings. Withdraw yourself from such.

¹⁷ and their word will hold an eating-away like gangrene; of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus. ¹⁸ They have deviated concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection has happened already and are perverting the faith of some.

³ Because out of the wine of the fury of her fornication all the nations have fallen, and the kings of the earth fornicated with her and the merchants of the earth were enriched from the power of her promiscuity.
⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, in order that you might not have fellowship together in her sins and in order that you might not receive out of her wounds, ⁵ because her sins were joined to her even up to heaven and God has remembered her wrongdoing.

⁶ And the Egyptians dealt ill with us and afflicted us and laid upon us hard bondage.

¹⁰ But even already, the ax is laid to the root of the trees, because every tree which is not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

¹⁵ But take-heed, stay away from false prophets, who are coming to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. ¹⁶ You will fully know them from their fruits. They do not collect a grape-cluster from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? ¹⁷ Thus every good tree produces good fruit, but the rotten tree produces evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree is not able to produce evil fruit, nor is a rotten tree able to produce good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree which is not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Consequently, you will fully know them from their fruits.

¹⁹ And having seen a fig tree upon the road, he came upon it and found nothing in it, except leaves only, and he says to it, Let it happen that there is no fruit from you any longer, forever. And instantly the fig tree dried up.

⁷ Now he said to the vine-dresser, Behold three years, I come seeking fruit and find none in this fig tree. Cut it down. Why does it also do-away-with the good soil?
⁸ But he answered and says to him, Lord, Also leave it this year, until I should dig around it and put in manure; ⁹ and if it indeed produces fruit, good; otherwise you will be cutting it down in the future.

² Every branch which is not bringing forth fruit in me, he takes it away and every branch which is bringing forth fruit, he prunes it, in order that it may bring forth more fruit. ³ Already you are clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in me and I in you. Just-as the branch is not able to bring forth fruit from itself, if it does not abide in the vine; so neither can you if you do not abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, this one is bringing forth much fruit, because you are not able to do anything separate from me. ⁶ If anyone is not abiding in me, he was cast outside like a branch and was dried up, and they gather them and cast them into the fire and it is burned. ⁷ If you abide in me, and then my words should abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will happen for you. ⁸ My Father is glorified in this, in order that you may bring forth much fruit and will become my disciples.

¹⁵ And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and upon the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad. For he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.

¹⁴ There was a little city and few men within it. And there came a great king against it and besieged it and built great ramparts against it.

³³ Therefore Jehovah says thus concerning the king of Assyria, He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there. Neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

⁶ For thus has Jehovah of hosts said: Hew you* down trees and cast up a mound against Jerusalem. This is the city to be visited. She has oppression completely in the midst of her.

⁴ For Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to defend against the mounds and against the sword,

¹⁷ Nor will Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.
