¹ And the life of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years. These were the years of the life of Sarah. ² And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (what is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.
³ And Abraham rose up from before his dead and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, ⁴ I am a stranger and a traveler with you*. Give me a burial possession with you*, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
⁵ And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him, ⁶ Hear us, my lord. You are a prince of God among us. Bury your dead in our choice sepulchers. None of us will withhold his sepulcher from you, but so that you may bury your dead.
⁷ And Abraham rose up and bowed himself to the people of the land, and to the sons of Heth. ⁸ And he spoke with them, saying, If it is your* mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar, ⁹ that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he has, which is in the end of his field. Let him give it to me for the full price for a burial possession in the midst of you*.
¹⁰ Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the sons of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying, ¹¹ No, my lord, hear me. I give you the field. And the cave that is in it, I give it to you. I give it to you in the presence of the sons of my people. Bury your dead.
¹² And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land. ¹³ And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But, I beseech you, if you would hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me and I will bury my dead there.
¹⁴ And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him, ¹⁵ My lord, listen to me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and you? Therefore bury your dead.
¹⁶ And Abraham listened to Ephron. And Abraham weighed the silver to Ephron that he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, what passes with the merchant. ¹⁷ So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border of it all around, were made sure ¹⁸ to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.
¹⁹ And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (what is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. ²⁰ And the field and the cave that is in it, were made sure to Abraham for a burial possession by the sons of Heth.

¹⁷ Then Abraham fell upon his face and laughed and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him who is a hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

¹⁸ And Abram moved his tent and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron and built an altar there to Jehovah.

¹⁹ And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (what is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.

⁴¹ And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Jacob.

¹⁰ And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan. And there they lamented with a very great and sore lamentation. And he made a mourning for his father seven days.

²² And they went up by the South and came to Hebron. And Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the sons of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

²⁹ And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

⁸ And the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. So the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

³⁹ And he took it and the king of it and all the cities of it. And they killed* them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed all the souls that were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and to the king of it, as he had done also to Libnah and to the king of it.

¹⁴ Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day because he entirely followed Jehovah, the God of Israel. ¹⁵ Now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba. Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim.
And the land had rest from war.

⁷ And they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim and Kiriath-arba (what is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah.

¹⁰ And Judah went against the Canaanites who dwelt in Hebron (now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba) and they killed* Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the ground, you will not be established, nor your kingdom. Therefore now send and fetch him to me, for he will surely die.

³ Now Samuel was dead and all Israel had lamented him and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those who had familiar spirits and the wizards, out of the land.

¹² And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening, for Saul and for Jonathan his son and for the people of Jehovah and for the house of Israel, because they were fallen by the sword.

¹⁷ And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son

¹¹ And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron. And king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah and they anointed David king over Israel.

⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

⁵⁷ And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge, Hebron, Libnah also with its suburbs and Jattir and Eshtemoa with its suburbs,

²⁵ And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah. And all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day. And they made them an ordinance in Israel, and behold, they are written in the lamentations.

¹⁰ Weep you* not for him who is dead, nor sympathize with him. But weep greatly for him who goes away, for he will return no more, nor see his native country.

¹⁸ Therefore Jehovah says thus concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah. They will not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! They will not lament for him, saying Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

¹⁶ Son of man, behold, I take the desire of your eyes away from you with a stroke. Yet you will neither mourn nor weep. Neither will your tears run down. ¹⁷ Sigh, but not aloud. Make no mourning for the dead. Bind your headdress upon you and put your shoes upon your feet. And do not cover your lips and do not eat the bread of men.
¹⁸ So I spoke to the people in the morning and at evening my wife died. And I did in the morning as I was commanded.

³¹ Therefore the Jews who were with her in the house and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she stood up quickly and went out, they followed her, saying, She is going to the tomb in order that she may weep there.

³⁵ Jesus shed-tears.

² Now devout men entombed Stephen and made a great lamentation over him.

¹⁵ And Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth

⁵ And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,

⁷ And Abraham rose up and bowed himself to the people of the land, and to the sons of Heth.

¹⁰ the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth. There Abraham was buried and Sarah his wife.

⁴⁶ And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, those like these, of the daughters of the land, what good will my life do me?

³⁰ in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying place.

⁶ Then David answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with you.

³⁹ Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.

¹⁹ You will eat bread by the sweat of your face, till you return to the ground, because out of it you were taken. For you are dust and you will return to dust.

⁸ And I will give to you and to your seed after you, the land of your travels, all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession and I will be their God.

⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

¹³ For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

²³ And the land will not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine. For you* are strangers and travelers with me.

¹⁵ For we are strangers before you and travelers, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow and there is no abiding.

²³ For I know that you will bring me to death and to the house appointed for all living.

¹² Hear my prayer, O Jehovah and listen to my cry. Do not keep silent at my tears, because I am a stranger with you, a traveler, as all my fathers were.

¹² when they were but a few men in number, yes, very few and travelers in it.
¹³ And they went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people.

¹⁹ I am a traveler in the earth. Do not hide your commandments from me.

³ If a man fathers a hundred sons and lives many years so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not filled with good and moreover he has no burial, I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.

⁵ yes, they will be afraid of height and terrors will be in the way and the almond tree will blossom and the grasshopper will be a burden and desire will fail, because man goes to his everlasting home and the mourners go about the streets,

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁵ And he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a step of his foot, and he promised to give it to him and to his seed after him for his territory, even when there was no child yet to him.

⁹ In faith, he sojourned in the land of promise, as an alien, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise.

¹³ These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and having greeted them from farther out and having confessed that they are strangers and travelers upon the earth. ¹⁴ For those who are saying such things are disclosing that they are seeking after a fatherland. ¹⁵ And if they were indeed remembering that region from which they went out, they would have had an opportunity to revisit. ¹⁶ But now they are aspiring for themselves to a better region, this thing is a heavenly one. Hence God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared a city for them.

¹¹ Beloved, I am encouraging you, as foreigners and travelers, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which are warring against the soul;

² And Abram was very heavy in riches, in cattle, in silver and in gold.

¹⁴ And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen of them and pursued as far as Dan.

¹² And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I have become old shall I have pleasure from my lord who is also old?

²² And it happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his army spoke to Abraham, saying, God is with you in all that you do.

¹⁸ And she said, Drink, my lord. And she hurried and let down her pitcher upon her hand and gave him drink.

³⁵ And Jehovah has blessed my master greatly and he has become great. And he has given him flocks and herds and silver and gold and men-servants and maid-servants and camels and donkeys.

³⁵ And she said to her father, Do not let my lord be furious that I cannot rise up before you, because the manner of women is upon me. And he searched, but did not find the household-idol.

⁴ And he commanded them, saying, Thus you* will say to my lord Esau, Thus says your servant Jacob, I have traveled with Laban and stayed until now. ⁵ And I have oxen and donkeys, flocks and men-servants and maid-servants. And I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.

¹⁸ Then you will say, Your servant Jacob's. It is a present sent to my lord Esau. And behold, he also is behind us.

¹⁰ And they said to him, No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.

⁵ Is not this that in which my lord drinks and how he indeed a diviner? You* have done evil in so doing.

⁸ Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan. How then would we steal out of your lord's house silver or gold?

²² And Aaron said, Do not let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

¹³ Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me and because you have spoken kindly to your handmaid, though I am not as one of your handmaidens.

¹⁴ Jehovah says thus: The labor of Egypt and the merchandise of Ethiopia and the Sabeans, men of stature, will come over to you and they will be yours. They will go after you. In chains they will come over and they will fall down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, Surely God is in you and there is none else, no God.

¹ Behold what sort of love the Father has given to us, in order that we might be called children of God. Because of this, the world does not know you, because it did not know him. ² Beloved, we are now the children of God and it was not yet manifested what we will be. But we know that, if he is manifested, we will be similar to him, because we will be seeing him just-as he is.

² And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men stood by him. And when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door and bowed himself to the earth

¹ And the two messengers came to Sodom in the evening and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. And Lot saw them and rose up to meet them. And he bowed himself with his face to the earth

²⁴ He who makes many friends does it to his own destruction, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

¹⁷ Repay to no one evil in exchange-for evil. Plan-for good things in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If possible, what is from you should be at peace with all men.

¹⁴ Pursue peace with all and the holiness without which no one will be seeing the Lord:

⁸ Now to the end, all be like-minded, sympathetic, loving the brethren, affectionate, friendly;

⁹ And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,

¹⁷ And he said, I beseech you, speak to Solomon the king (for he will not say no to you), that he give me Abishag the Shunammite as a wife.

³ Now having heard things concerning Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews; requesting of him, that he might come and might save his bondservant. ⁴ Now when they came to Jesus, they were pleading with him diligently, saying, He is worthy that you will be providing this for him;

²⁶ For such a high-priest was suitable to us, holy, guiltless, undefiled, has been separated away from sinners and became exalted from the heavens;

¹ My little-children, these things I am writing to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone should sin, we have a Helper with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. ² And he is the atonement concerning our sins, but not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world.

¹⁷ Repay to no one evil in exchange-for evil. Plan-for good things in the sight of all men.

⁸ Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for he who loves the other has fulfilled the law.

¹⁸ to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.

¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels, of the camels of his master and departed, having all good things of his master's in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.

²⁰ And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city and spoke with the men of their city, saying,

²⁴ And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and to Shechem his son and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.

¹ Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there. And behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by, to whom he said, Such man, stay, turn aside. Sit down here. And he turned aside and sat down. ² And he took ten men of the elders of the city and said, Sit you* down here. And they sat down.
³ And he said to the near kinsman, Naomi, who has come again out of the country of Moab, sells the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's. ⁴ And I thought to disclose it to you, saying, Buy it before those who sit here and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it, but if you will not redeem it, then tell me that I may know, for there is none to redeem it besides you and I am after you. And he said, I will redeem it.

⁷ when I went forth to the gate to the city, when I prepared my seat in the street.

⁶ and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

¹ And he stepped into the ship and ferried over and came into his own city.

³ And all were traveling to register themselves, each one into his own city. ⁴ Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was out of the house and family of David;

⁶ Hear us, my lord. You are a prince of God among us. Bury your dead in our choice sepulchers. None of us will withhold his sepulcher from you, but so that you may bury your dead.

³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer will be slain at the mouth of witnesses, but one witness will not testify against any person so that he dies.

⁶ At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, will he who is to die be put to death. He will not be put to death at the mouth of one witness.

¹⁵ One witness will not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, will a matter be established.

¹ Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there. And behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by, to whom he said, Such man, stay, turn aside. Sit down here. And he turned aside and sat down.

⁴ And I thought to disclose it to you, saying, Buy it before those who sit here and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it, but if you will not redeem it, then tell me that I may know, for there is none to redeem it besides you and I am after you. And he said, I will redeem it.

⁹ And Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, You* are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi.

¹¹ And all the people who were in the gate and the elders, said, We are witnesses. Jehovah make the woman that has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two built the house of Israel and do you worthily in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

²⁰ And Araunah looked forth and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. And Araunah went out and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
²¹ And Araunah said, Why has my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor from you, to build an altar to Jehovah that the plague may be halted from the people. ²² And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the oxen for the burnt offering and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood. ²³ All this, O king, Araunah gives to the king. And Araunah said to the king, Jehovah your God accept you.
²⁴ And the king said to Araunah, No, but I will truly buy it from you at a price. Neither will I offer burnt offerings to Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

²² Then David said to Ornan, Give me the place of this threshing-floor, that I may build on it an altar to Jehovah. For the full price you will give it me, that the plague may be stopped from the people.
²³ And Ornan said to David, Take it to you and let my lord the king do what is good in his eyes. Behold, I give you the oxen for burnt offerings and the threshing instruments for wood and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.
²⁴ And king David said to Ornan, No, but I will truly buy it for the full price. Because I will not take what is yours for Jehovah, nor offer a burnt offering without cost.

⁸ But a noble man devises noble things and in noble things he will continue.

⁷ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, Buy my field that is in Anathoth. For the right of redemption is your to buy it.
⁸ So Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of Jehovah and said to me, I beseech you, buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin. For the right of inheritance is your and the redemption is your. Buy it for yourself. Then I knew that this was the word of Jehovah.
⁹ And I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle's son and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver. ¹⁰ And I signed the deed and sealed it and called witnesses and weighed him the money in the balances.
¹¹ So I took the deed of the purchase, both what was sealed, according to the law and custom and what was open, ¹² and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle's son and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.

²⁴ And he said to those standing beside him, Take away the two-hundred denarius coin from him, and give it to the one who has the ten two-hundred denarius coins.

²² And Abram said to the King of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, ²³ that I will not take a thread nor a shoe latchet nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich,

²⁴ And the king said to Araunah, No, but I will truly buy it from you at a price. Neither will I offer burnt offerings to Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

³⁵ I showed to you an example in all things, that so laboring, it is essential to help the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more fortunate to give than to receive.

⁵ Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is near. ⁶ Be anxious in nothing, but in everything, let your requests be made known to God by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. ⁷ And the peace of God, which is superior to all perception, will be guarding your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
⁸ Furthermore brethren, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are righteous, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely, as many as have good-repute; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, reason on these things.

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, buying up the time.

⁵ In the manner of life, not being a money-lover, be content with the things which are present; for he himself has said, I may never be lax concerning you, nor should I ever forsake you.

¹³ This they will give, everyone who passes over to those who are numbered: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary, (the shekel is twenty gerahs,) half a shekel for an offering to Jehovah.

¹⁵ The rich will not give more and the poor will not give less, than the half shekel, when they give the offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your* souls.

¹² And the shekel will be twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels, twenty-five shekels, fifteen shekels, will be your* maneh.

¹⁵ My lord, listen to me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and you? Therefore bury your dead.

²¹ And it happened, when we came to the lodging place, that we opened our sacks, and behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. And we have brought it again in our hand.

²⁵ and weighed to them the silver and the gold and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king and his counselors and his rulers and all Israel there present, had offered. ²⁶ I weighed into their hand six hundred and fifty talants of silver and a hundred talants of silver vessels, a hundred talants of gold, ²⁷ and twenty bowls of gold, of a thousand 128-grain weights and two vessels of fine bright brass, desirable as gold.
²⁸ And I said to them, You* are holy to Jehovah and the vessels are holy and the silver and the gold are a free-will offering to Jehovah, the God of your* fathers. ²⁹ Watch and keep them, until you* weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites and the rulers of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of Jehovah. ³⁰ So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

¹⁵ It cannot be gotten for gold, nor will silver be weighed for the price of it.

⁹ And I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle's son and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

¹² And I said to them, If you* think good, give me my wage and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my wage thirty pieces of silver.

¹² Therefore, all things, as many as you would wish that men should do for you, so do also to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are righteous, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely, as many as have good-repute; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, reason on these things.

⁶ and not to go beyond limits and takes-advantage of his brother in the matter, because the Lord is an avenger concerning all these things, just-as we have also spoken to you beforehand and thoroughly testified.

²⁰ And the field and the cave that is in it, were made sure to Abraham for a burial possession by the sons of Heth.

²⁹ And he ordered them and said to them, I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, ³⁰ in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying place.
³¹ There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife and there I buried Leah, ³² the field and the cave that is in it, which was purchased from the sons of Heth.

⁷ Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: A man drew off his shoe and gave it to his neighbor. And this was the manner of attestation in Israel. ⁸ So the near kinsman said to Boaz, Buy it for yourself. And he drew off his shoe.
⁹ And Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, You* are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi. ¹⁰ Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his place. You* are witnesses this day.

⁵ It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment,

⁷ Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, Buy my field that is in Anathoth. For the right of redemption is your to buy it.
⁸ So Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of Jehovah and said to me, I beseech you, buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin. For the right of inheritance is your and the redemption is your. Buy it for yourself. Then I knew that this was the word of Jehovah.
⁹ And I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle's son and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver. ¹⁰ And I signed the deed and sealed it and called witnesses and weighed him the money in the balances.
¹¹ So I took the deed of the purchase, both what was sealed, according to the law and custom and what was open, ¹² and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle's son and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.
¹³ And I charged Baruch before them, saying, ¹⁴ Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed and this deed which is open and put them in an earthen vessel that they may continue many days.

¹⁶ Behold, I am sending you forth like sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore, become prudent like serpents and harmless like doves.

¹⁶ and were transferred to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham purchased for a price in silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

¹⁵ Therefore beware, how accurately you are walking, not as unwise, but as wise;

¹² and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle's son and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.

⁹ And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre, ¹⁰ the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth. There Abraham was buried and Sarah his wife.

²⁷ And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mamre, to Kiriath-arba (what is Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac traveled.

²⁸ And the days of Isaac were a hundred and eighty years. ²⁹ And Isaac gave up the spirit and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of days. And Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.

³⁰ but when I sleep with my fathers, you will carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burying place. And he said, I will do as you have said.

²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the sons of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you* and you* will carry up my bones from here.

⁵ My father made me swear, saying, Behold, I die. In my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan, there will you bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I beseech you and bury my father and I will come again.

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brothers, I die, but God will surely visit you* and bring you* up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. ²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the sons of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you* and you* will carry up my bones from here.

¹⁸ And Manasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza and Amon his son reigned instead of him.
