Jeremiah 21 Cross References - MLV

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2 I beseech you, inquire of Jehovah on our behalf. For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
3 Then Jeremiah said to them, Thus you* will say to Zedekiah: 4 Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel: Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your* hands, with which you* fight against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who besiege you*, outside the walls. And I will gather them into the midst of this city.
5 And I myself will fight against you* with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and in wrath and in great indignation. 6 And I will kill* the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. They will die of a great pestilence.
7 And afterward, says Jehovah, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life and he will kill* them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them, nor have pity, nor have mercy.
8 And you will say to this people, Jehovah says thus: Behold, I set before you* the way of life and the way of death. 9 He who abides in this city will die by the sword and by the famine and by the pestilence. But he who goes out and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you*, he will live and his life will be to him for a prey.
10 For I have set my face upon this city for evil and not for good, says Jehovah. It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.
11 And concerning the house of the king of Judah, hear the word of Jehovah. 12 O house of David, Jehovah says thus: Execute justice in the morning and deliver he who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your* practices.
13 Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley and of the rock of the plain, says Jehovah, you* who say, Who will come down against us? Or who will enter into our habitations? 14 And I will punish you* according to the fruit of your* practices, says Jehovah. And I will kindle a fire in her forest and it will devour all that is all around her.

And they did so.
5 And it was told the King of Egypt that the people were fled. And the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people and they said, What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us? 6 And he made ready his chariot and took his people with him. 7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots and all the chariots of Egypt and captains over all of them.
8 And Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh King of Egypt and he pursued after the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel went out with a high hand. 9 And the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh and his horsemen and his army and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.

11 And they said to Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

Joshua 10:1-11

1 Now it happened, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it, as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, 2 that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities and because it was greater than Ai and all the men of it were mighty.
3 Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent word to Hoham king of Hebron and to Piram king of Jarmuth and to Japhia king of Lachish and to Debir king of Eglon, saying, 4 Come up to me and help me and let us kill* Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the sons of Israel.
5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together and went up, they and all their armies and encamped against Gibeon and made war against it. 6 And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not your hand from your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the hill-country are gathered together against us.
7 So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the mighty men of valor. 8 And Jehovah said to Joshua, Fear them not, for I have delivered them into your hands. There will not a man of them stand before you.
9 Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, for he went up from Gilgal all the night. 10 And Jehovah confused them before Israel and he killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and killed* them to Azekah and to Makkedah.
11 And it happened, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them to Azekah and they died. More died with the hailstones than those whom the sons of Israel killed with the sword.

Turn and behold, I am with you according to your heart.
8 Then Jonathan said, Behold, we will pass over to the men and we will disclose ourselves to them. 9 If they say thus to us, Abide until we come to you*, then we will stand still in our place and will not go up to them. 10 But if they say thus, Come up to us, then we will go up, for Jehovah has delivered them into our hand and this will be the sign to us.
11 And both of them disclosed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines. And the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves. 12 And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer and said, Come up to us and we will show you* a thing. And Jonathan said to his armor bearer, Come up after me, for Jehovah has delivered them into the hand of Israel.
13 And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet and his armor bearer after him. And they fell before Jonathan and his armor bearer killed them after him.

And I will give the dead bodies of the armies of the Philistines this day to the birds of the heavens and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that all this assembly may know that Jehovah saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is Jehovah's and he will give you* into our hand.
48 And it happened, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hastened and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 And David put his hand in his bag and took from there a stone and slung it and killed* the Philistine in his forehead. And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.
5 And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I beseech you, inquire first for the word of Jehovah. 6 Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king. 7 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him? 8 And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. 12 So Jehovah killed* the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah. And the Ethiopians fled. 13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. 2 Chronicles 20:1-30

1 And it happened after this, that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. 2 Then there came some who told Jehoshaphat, saying, There comes a great multitude against you from beyond the sea from Syria. And behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (what is En-gedi).
3 And Jehoshaphat was afraid and set himself to seek for Jehovah. And he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from Jehovah, even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovah.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of Jehovah before the new court. 6 And he said, O Jehovah, the God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? And are you not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in your hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.
7 Did you not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend everlasting? 8 And they dwelt in it and have built for you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying, 9 If evil comes upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before you, (for your name is in this house,) and cry out to you in our affliction and you will hear and save.
10 And now, behold, the sons of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir (whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them and did not destroy them), 11 behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit. 12 O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us. Neither do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.
13 And all Judah stood before Jehovah, with their little ones, their wives and their sons.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of Jehovah in the midst of the assembly.
15 And he said, Listen, all Judah and you* inhabitants of Jerusalem and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus Jehovah says to you*, Do not fear, neither be dismayed because of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours*, but God's. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they come up by the Ascent of Ziz. And you* will find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 You* will not need to fight in this battle. Set yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah with you*, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for Jehovah is with you*.
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Jehovah, worshiping Jehovah. 19 And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, with an exceedingly loud voice.
20 And they rose early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah and you* inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in Jehovah your* God, so you* will be established. Believe his prophets, so you* will prosper.
21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Jehovah and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army and say, Give thanks to Jehovah. For his loving kindness is everlasting. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, Jehovah set an ambush against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir who came against Judah and they were struck. 23 For the sons of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, to kill* and destroy them utterly. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another of themselves.
24 And when Judah came to the watch-tower of the wilderness, they looked upon the multitude. And behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth and there were none who escaped.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies and desirable jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away. And they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah, for there they praised Jehovah. Therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah to this day. 27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy. For Jehovah had made them to rejoice over their enemies. 28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets to the house of Jehovah.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Jehovah fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet. For his God gave him rest all around.

Psalms 44:1-4

1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of long-ago. 2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
3 Because they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm and the light of your countenance, because you were favorable to them.
4 You are my King, O God. Command deliverance for Jacob.

Psalms 46:8-11

8 Come, behold the works of Jehovah, what desolations he has made in the earth. 9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two. He burns the chariots in the fire.
10 Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. 11 Jehovah of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

7 You break the ships of Tarshish with the east wind. 8 As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God, God will establish it everlasting. Selah.

Psalms 105:5-45

5 Remember his marvelous works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth, 6 O you* seed of Abraham his servant, you* sons of Jacob, his chosen. 7 He is Jehovah our God. His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered his covenant everlasting, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, 9 which he made with Abraham and his oath to Isaac, 10 and confirmed the same to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant, 11 saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your* inheritance, 12 when they were but a few men in number, yes, very few and travelers in it.
13 And they went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. 14 He allowed no man to do them wrong. Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes, 15 saying, Touch not my anointed men and do my prophets no harm.
16 And he called for a famine upon the land. He broke the whole staff of bread. 17 He sent a man before them. Joseph was sold for a servant.
18 They hurt his feet with fetters. He was placed in iron. 19 Until the time that his word happened, the word of Jehovah tried him.
20 The king sent and released him, even the ruler of peoples and let him go free. 21 He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his substance, 22 to bind his rulers at his pleasure and teach his elders wisdom.
23 Israel also came into Egypt and Jacob traveled in the land of Ham.
24 And he increased his people greatly and made them stronger than their adversaries. 25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.
26 He sent Moses his servant and Aaron whom he had chosen. 27 They set among them his signs and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness and made it dark. And they rebelled against his words.
29 He turned their waters into blood and killed their fish. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs in the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke and there came swarms of flies and lice in all their borders.
32 He gave them hail for rain and flaming fire in their land. 33 He also killed* their vines and their fig trees and broke the trees of their borders.
34 He spoke and the locust came and the grasshopper and that without number, 35 and ate up every herb in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground. 36 He also killed* all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.
37 And he brought them forth with silver and gold and there was not a feeble soul among his tribes. 38 Egypt was glad when they departed, because the fear of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering and fire to give light in the night. 40 They asked and he brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock and waters gushed out. They ran in the dry places like a river.
42 Because he remembered his holy word and Abraham his servant. 43 And he brought out his people with joy and his chosen with singing.
44 And he gave them the lands of the nations and they took the labor of the peoples in possession, 45 that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise Jehovah.

5 to him who by understanding made the heavens, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
6 to him who spread forth the earth above the waters, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
7 to him who made great lights, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
8 the sun to rule by day, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
9 the moon and stars to rule by night, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
10 to him who killed* Egypt in their firstborn, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
11 and brought out Israel from among them, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
12 with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
13 to him who divided the Red Sea apart, because loving kindness is everlasting,

And if I give you counsel, you will not listen to me. 16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, As Jehovah lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, nor will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.
17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, Jehovah says thus, the God of hosts, the God of Israel. If you will go forth to the king of Babylon's rulers, then your soul will live and this city will not be burned with fire and you will live and your house.

And those women will say, Your familiar friends have set upon you and have prevailed over you. Since your feet are sunk in the mud, they have turned back away.
23 And they will bring out all your wives and your sons to the Chaldeans. And you will not escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. And you will cause this city to be burned with fire.
24 Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words and you will not die. 25 But if the rulers hear that I have talked with you and they come to you and say to you, Declare to us now what you have said to the king, hide it not from us and we will not put you to death, also what the king said to you, 26 then you will say to them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan's house to die there.
