¹⁹ The small and the great are there. And the servant is free from his master.

²³ For I know that you will bring me to death and to the house appointed for all living.

² both low and high, rich and poor together.

⁶ Those who trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches, ⁷ none can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him ⁸ (for the redemption of their life is costly and it fails everlasting), ⁹ that he should still live always, that he should not see corruption. ¹⁰ Because he will see it.
Wise men die. The fool and the stupid alike perish and leave their wealth to others.

¹⁴ They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd and the upright will have dominion over them in the morning. And their beauty will be for Sheol to consume, that there is no habitation for it.
¹⁵ But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, because he will receive me. Selah.
¹⁶ Do not be afraid because a man is made rich, because the glory of his house is increased. ¹⁷ Because when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory will not descend after him.
¹⁸ Because while he lived he blessed his soul (and men praise you, when you do well for yourself), ¹⁹ he will go to the generation of his fathers. They will never see the light.
²⁰ A man who is in splendor and does not understand, is like the beasts that perish.

⁸ There is no man who has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, nor has he power over the day of death. And there is no discharge in war. Neither will wickedness deliver he who is given to it.

⁵ yes, they will be afraid of height and terrors will be in the way and the almond tree will blossom and the grasshopper will be a burden and desire will fail, because man goes to his everlasting home and the mourners go about the streets,

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

²² Now it happened, that the poor man died and that he was carried away by the messengers into Abraham’s bosom, and the rich man also died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and he sees Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.
