² Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Assign for you* the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you* by Moses,

¹³ And if a man does not lie in wait, but God delivers him into his hand, then I will appoint for you a place where he will flee.
¹⁴ And if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbor, to kill him with guile, you will take him from my altar, that he may die.

⁶ And of the cities which you* will give to the Levites, there will be the six cities of refuge, which you* will give for the manslayer to flee to. And besides them you* will give forty-two cities.

¹¹ then you* will appoint cities to be cities of refuge for you*, that the manslayer who kills any person unwittingly may flee there. ¹² And the cities will be to you* for refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment.
¹³ And the cities which you* will give will be for you* six cities of refuge. ¹⁴ You* will give three cities beyond the Jordan and three cities you* will give in the land of Canaan. They will be cities of refuge. ¹⁵ For the sons of Israel and for the stranger and for the traveler among them, these six cities will be for refuge, that everyone who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.
¹⁶ But if he killed* him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he killed* him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death. ¹⁸ Or if he killed* him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer will surely be put to death.
¹⁹ The avenger of blood will himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he will put him to death. ²⁰ And if he thrust him from hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died, ²¹ or in enmity killed* him with his hand, so that he died, he who killed* him will surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood will put the murderer to death, when he meets him.
²² But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or hurled upon him anything without lying in wait, ²³ or with any stone, by which a man may die, not seeing him and cast it upon him, so that he died and he was not his enemy, nor sought his harm, ²⁴ then the congregation will judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances.

⁴¹ Then Moses set apart three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, ⁴² that the manslayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unawares and did not hate him in time past and that fleeing to one of these cities he might live: ⁴³ namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

² you will set apart three cities for you in the midst of your land, which Jehovah your God gives you to possess it. ³ You will prepare for you the way and divide the borders of your land, which Jehovah your God causes you to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee there.
⁴ And this is the case of the manslayer, who will flee there and live: Whoever kills his neighbor unawares and did not hate him in time past, ⁵ as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to hew wood and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree and the head slips from the helve and lands upon his neighbor, so that he dies, he will flee to one of these cities and live.
⁶ Lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot and overtake him, because the way is long and kill* him mortally, and he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he did not hate him in time past.
⁷ Therefore I command you, saying, You will set apart three cities for you. ⁸ And if Jehovah your God enlarge your border, as he has sworn to your fathers and give you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers, ⁹ if you will keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love Jehovah your God and to walk ever in his ways, then will you add three more cities for you, besides these three, ¹⁰ that innocent blood not be shed in the midst of your land, which Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance and so blood be upon you.
¹¹ But if any man hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and slays him mortally so that he dies and he flees into one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city will send and fetch him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
¹³ Your eye will not pity him, but you will put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

¹ Consequently now nothing is condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who are not walking according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

³³ Who shall accuse anything against God’s chosen? It is God who makes righteous. ³⁴ Who is the one who condemns? Christ is the one who died, but rather, who was also raised up from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also is petitioning on our behalf.

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable matters, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge, to take-hold of the hope that lays before us. ¹⁹ This hope which we have as an anchor of the soul, is both secure and steadfast and entering into the inner side of the curtain;
