¹⁷ Therefore, all the generations from Abraham until David were fourteen generations; and from David until the exile of Babylon, were fourteen generations; and from the exile of Babylon until the Christ, were fourteen generations.


¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: for when his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ Now Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man and not willing to disgrace her, planned to divorce her secretly. ²⁰ But when he was contemplating these things, behold, a messenger of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary to you, as your wife for what was born in her is from the Holy Spirit. ²¹ Now she will be bearing a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will be saving his people from their sins. ²² Now this whole thing has happened, in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ²³ ‘Behold, the virgin will be pregnant, and will be bearing a son, and they will call his name Immanuel'; which is, after being translated, ‘God with us.’ ²⁴ Now having been aroused from his sleep, Joseph did as the messenger of the Lord commanded him and took his wife to him; ²⁵ and did not know her intimately until she bore her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus.

⁴ These are the genealogies of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.

¹ This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in the likeness of God,

³ And I will bless those who bless you and he who curses you I will curse. And all the families of the earth will be blessed in you.

¹⁸ and in your seed will all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.

³ Travel in this land and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and to your seed, I will give all these lands and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. ⁴ And I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven and will give to your seed all these lands and in your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed, ⁵ because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my order, my commandments, my statutes and my laws.

¹³ And behold, Jehovah stood above it and said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie, to you I will give it and to your seed. ¹⁴ And your seed will be as the dust of the earth and you will spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed in you and in your seed.

¹² When your days are fulfilled and you will sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will proceed out of your guts and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ He will build a house for my name and I will establish the throne of his kingdom until everlasting.
¹⁴ I will be his father and he will be my son. If he commits wicked things, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men, ¹⁵ but my loving kindness will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul whom I put away before you. ¹⁶ And your house and your kingdom will be made sure forever before you; your throne will be established until everlasting.

³⁶ His seed will endure everlasting and his throne as the sun before me.

¹¹ Jehovah has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: From the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given. And the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.
⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from hereafter until everlasting. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

¹ And there will come out a shoot out of the stock of Jesse. And a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.

⁸ In his humiliation his justice was taken away. And as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?

⁵ Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch and he will reign as king and deal wisely and will execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁵ In those days and at that time, I will cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David and he will execute justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell safely. And this is the name whereby she will be called: Jehovah our righteousness.
¹⁷ For Jehovah says thus: David will never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel,

²⁶ then I will also cast away the seed of Jacob and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will cause their captivity to return and will have mercy on them.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that has fallen and close up the breaches of it. And I will raise up its ruins and I will build it as in the days of old,

⁸ In that day Jehovah will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And he who is feeble among them at that day will be as David and the house of David will be as God, as the messenger of Jehovah before them.

⁴² saying, What do you think concerning the Christ? Whose son is he?
They say to him, David’s.
⁴³ He says to them, Therefore how does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying, ⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right, until I should place your enemies as the footstool of your feet? ⁴⁵ Therefore, if David calls him Lord, how is he his son?

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and will be bearing a son and will call his name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest and the Lord God will be giving to him the throne of his father David,

⁶⁹ and has lifted up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his young-servant David, ⁷⁰ (just-as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from the ages past).

²³ And he was approximately thirty years old, when beginning to teach, (as it was supposed, the son of Joseph). ⁴² Did the Scripture not say that the Christ comes out of the seed of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that from the fruit of his loins, to raise up the Christ according to the flesh to sit upon his throne.

²² And having removed him, he lifted up David to be king to them; to whom he also testified and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who will be practicing all my will.
²³ God brought salvation to Israel from the seed of this man David, according to promise,

³ concerning his Son, (who was born from the seed of David according to the flesh,

¹³ For the promise was to Abraham, or to his seed, for him to be heir of the world, but not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

⁵ whose are the fathers and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all: God is gracious forever. Amen.

¹⁶ Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He did not say and to seeds, as upon many, but as upon one and ‘to your seed,’which is the Christ.

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my messenger to testify to you these things in the congregations. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.

² And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ³ And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, Isaac, whom Sarah bore to him. ⁴ And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. ⁵ And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born to him.

²⁶ And after that his brother came out and his hand had hold on Esau's heel and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

³² And Leah conceived and bore a son and she called his name Reuben. For she said, Because Jehovah has looked upon my affliction, because now my husband will love me.
³³ And she conceived again and bore a son and said, Because Jehovah has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also. And she called his name Simeon.
³⁴ And she conceived again and bore a son and said, Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons. Therefore his name was called Levi.
³⁵ And she conceived again and bore a son. And she said, This time I will praise Jehovah. Therefore she called his name Judah. And she left off bearing.

⁵ And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son. ⁶ And Rachel said, God has judged me and has also heard my voice and has given me a son. Therefore she called his name Dan.
⁷ And Bilhah Rachel's handmaid conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. ⁸ And Rachel said, With mighty wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister and I have indeed prevailed. And she called his name Naphtali.
⁹ When Leah saw that she had left off bearing, she took Zilpah her handmaid and gave her to Jacob as a wife. ¹⁰ And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a son. ¹¹ And Leah said, Good-fortune! And she called his name Gad.
¹² And Zilpah Leah's handmaid bore Jacob a second son. ¹³ And Leah said, I am fortunate! For the daughters will call me fortunate. And she called his name Asher.
¹⁴ And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest and found love-apples in the field and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, I beseech you, give me from your son's love-apples.
¹⁵ And she said to her, Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? And would you take away my son's love-apples also?
And Rachel said, Therefore he may lie with you tonight for your son's love-apples.
¹⁶ And Jacob came from the field in the evening and Leah went out to meet him and said, You must come in to me, because I have surely hired you with my son's love-apples. And he lay with her that night.
¹⁷ And God listened to Leah and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. ¹⁸ And Leah said, God has given me my hire, because I gave my handmaid to my husband. And she called his name Issachar.
¹⁹ And Leah conceived again and bore a sixth son to Jacob. ²⁰ And Leah said, God has endowed me with a good endowment. Now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons. And she called his name Zebulun.

¹⁶ And they traveled from Bethel. And there was still some distance to come to Ephrath and Rachel travailed and she had hard labor. ¹⁷ And it happened, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Do not fear, now you will have another son. ¹⁸ And it happened, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-oni.
¹⁹ And Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (what is Bethlehem).

⁸ And these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn. ⁹ And the sons of Reuben were : Hanoch and Pallu and Hezron and Carmi. ¹⁰ And the sons of Simeon were : Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad and Jachin and Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. ¹¹ And the sons of Levi were : Gershon, Kohath and Merari. ¹² And the sons of Judah were : Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah. But Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. ¹³ And the sons of Issachar were : Tola and Puvah and Job and Shimron. ¹⁴ And the sons of Zebulun were : Sered and Elon and Jahleel. ¹⁵ These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, with his daughter Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.
¹⁶ And the sons of Gad were : Ziphion and Haggi, Shuni and Ezbon, Eri and Arodi and Areli. ¹⁷ And the sons of Asher were : Imnah and Ishvah and Ishvi and Beriah and Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah were : Heber and Malchiel. ¹⁸ These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob, even sixteen souls.
¹⁹ The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife were : Joseph and Benjamin. ²⁰ And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah priest of On, bore to him. ²¹ And the sons of Benjamin were : Bela and Becher and Ashbel, Gera and Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, Muppim and Huppim and Ard. ²² These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.
²³ And the sons of Dan were : Hushim. ²⁴ And the sons of Naphtali were : Jahzeel and Guni and Jezer and Shillem. ²⁵ These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter and these she bore to Jacob. All the souls were seven.
²⁶ All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, that came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were sixty-six. ²⁷ And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, that came into Egypt, were seventy.

⁸ Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father's sons will bow down before you. ⁹ Judah is a lion's cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he couched as a lion and as a lioness, who will rouse him up?
¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and to him will the obedience of the peoples be. ¹¹ Binding his foal to the vine and his donkey's colt to the choice vine, he has washed his garments in wine and his raiment in the blood of grapes. ¹² His eyes will be red with wine and his teeth white with milk.

² Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah, ³ Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin, ⁴ Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. ⁵ And all the souls who came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls. And Joseph was in Egypt already.

² And Joshua said to all the people, Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel: Your* fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor and they served other gods. ³ And I took your* father Abraham from beyond the River and led him throughout all the land of Canaan and multiplied his seed and gave him Isaac. ⁴ And I gave to Isaac, Jacob and Esau. And I gave to Esau Mount Seir to possess it. And Jacob and his sons went down into Egypt.

¹ And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but, inasmuch as he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel and so the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. ² Now Judah prevailed above his brothers and the ruler came from him, but the birthright was Joseph's),

⁸ But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend,

² Look to Abraham your* father and to Sarah who bore you*. For when he was but one I called him and I blessed him and made him many.

² I have loved you*, says Jehovah. Yet you* say, How have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother, says Jehovah. Yet I loved Jacob, ³ but Esau I hated and made his mountains a desolation and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.

³³ from Amminadab, from Ram, from Hezron, from Perez, from Judah, ³⁴ from Jacob, from Isaac, from Abraham, from Terah, from Nahor,

⁸ And he gave him the covenant of circumcision and so he fathered Isaac and he circumcised him on the eighth day, and to Isaac was born Jacob and to Jacob the twelve patriarchs.

⁷ neither are they all children, because they are Abraham’s seed, but instead, ‘In Isaac your seed will be called.’ ⁸ This thing is, the children of the flesh, these are not children of God, but the children of the promise are counted for a seed. ⁹ For this is the word of promise, ‘I will come according to this season and Sarah will be with a son.’ ¹⁰ Now not only so, but also Rebecca having an impregnation from one man, our father Isaac; ¹¹ for the children not yet having been born, nor having practiced anything good or evil, in order that the purpose of God according to his choice might abide, not from works, but from the one who is calling. ¹² It was said to her, ‘The greater will be serving the inferior.’ ¹³ Just-as it has been written, ‘Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.’

¹⁴ For it is evident that our Lord has risen up out of Judah; as to which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning the priesthood.

¹¹ In faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed and bore a son contrary to the time of her fertile age, since she deemed him faithful who had promised.

¹⁷ In faith, Abraham, being tested, has offered up Isaac. And he who had accepted the promises was offering up his only begotten son; ¹⁸ to whom it was said, In Isaac your seed will be called.

⁵ twelve thousand out of the tribe of Judah having been sealed; twelve thousand out of the tribe of Reuben; twelve thousand out of the tribe of Gad;

⁶ And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn and her name was Tamar.

¹¹ Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in law, Remain a widow in your father's house, till Shelah my son be grown up, because he said, Lest he also die, like his brothers. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.

²⁴ And it happened about three months after, that it was told to Judah, saying, Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the prostitute and moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.
And Judah said, Bring her forth and let her be burnt.
²⁵ When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, By the man, whose these are, I am with child. And she said, I beseech you, discern whose these are, the signet and the cords and the staff. ²⁶ And Judah acknowledged them and said, She is more righteous than I, inasmuch as I did not give her to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
²⁷ And it happened in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.

²⁹ And it happened, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out. And she said, Why have you made a breach for yourself? Therefore his name was called Perez. ³⁰ And afterward his brother came out, who had the scarlet thread upon his hand. And his name was called Zerah.

¹² And the sons of Judah were : Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah. But Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

²⁰ And the sons of Judah according to their families were: of Shelah, the Shelanite family; of Perez, the Perezite family; of Zerah, the Zerahite family. ²¹ And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the Hezronite family; of Hamul, the Hamulite family.

³ And those who encamp on the east side toward the sunrise will be those of the standard of the camp of Judah, according to their armies. And the ruler of the sons of Judah will be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹² And he who offered his oblation the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah.

¹⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹⁴ And in the first place the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah set forward according to their armies and over his army was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

¹⁰ And Ram fathered Amminadab and Amminadab fathered Nahshon, ruler of the sons of Judah. ¹¹ And Nahshon fathered Salmon and Salmon fathered Boaz, ¹² and Boaz fathered Obed and Obed fathered Jesse,

³² from Jesse, from Obed, from Boaz, from Salmon, from Nahshon,

¹ And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land and Jericho. And they went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab and lay down there. ² And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, men came in here tonight of the sons of Israel to search out the land. ³ And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men who came to you, who have entered into your house, for they have come to search out all the land.
⁴ And the woman took the two men and hid them. And she said, Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know from where they were. ⁵ And it happened about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know. Pursue after them quickly, for you* will overtake them. ⁶ But she had brought them up to the roof and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof. ⁷ And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan to the fords and as soon as those who pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
⁸ And before they were laid down, she came up to them upon the roof. ⁹ And she said to the men, I know that Jehovah has given you* the land and that the fear of you* has fallen upon us. And that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you*.
¹⁰ For we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you* when you* came out of Egypt and what you* did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you* utterly destroyed. ¹¹ And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man because of you*, for Jehovah your* God, he is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
¹² Now therefore, I beseech you*, swear to me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you*, that you* also will deal kindly with my father's house and give me a true token, ¹³ and that you* will save alive my father and my mother and my brothers and my sisters and all that they have and will deliver our lives from death. ¹⁴ And the men said to her, Our life for yours* if you* do not utter this our business. And it will be, when Jehovah gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.
¹⁵ Then she let them down by a cord through the window, for her house was upon the side of the wall and she dwelt upon the wall. ¹⁶ And she said to them, You* get to the mountain lest the pursuers come upon you*. And hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned and afterward you* may go your* way.
¹⁷ And the men said to her, We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us to swear. ¹⁸ Behold, when we come into the land, you will bind this line of scarlet cord in the window which you let us down by. And you will gather to you into the house your father and your mother and your brothers and all your father's household.
¹⁹ And it will be, that whoever will go out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be upon his head and we will be guiltless. And whoever will be with you in the house, his blood will be on our head if any hand be upon him. ²⁰ But if you utter this our business, then we will be guiltless of your oath which you have made us to swear. ²¹ And she said, According to your* words, so be it. And she sent them away and they departed. And she bound the scarlet line in the window.
²² And they went and came to the mountain and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned. And the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them.

²² And Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, Go into the prostitute's house and bring out from there the woman and all that she has, as you* swore to her. ²³ And the young men, the spies, went in and brought out Rahab and her father and her mother and her brothers and all that she had. They also brought out all her kindred and they set them outside the camp of Israel.
²⁴ And they burnt the city with fire and all that was in it. Only the silver and the gold and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Jehovah.
²⁵ But Joshua saved alive Rahab the prostitute and her father's household and all that she had. And she dwelt in the midst of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

⁴ And they took wives for them of the women of Moab. The name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth and they dwelt there about ten years.

¹⁶ And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave you and to return from following after you, for where you go, I will go and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people and your God my God. ¹⁷ Where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. Jehovah do so to me and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.

²² So Naomi returned and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who returned out of the country of Moab. And they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.

²¹ and Salmon fathered Boaz and Boaz fathered Obed,

³¹ In faith, Rahab the prostitute did not perish together with the disobedient, having accepted the spies with peace.

²⁵ Now likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute also made righteous from works, when she accepted the messengers and put them out a different way?

²² and Obed fathered Jesse and Jesse fathered David.

¹ And Jehovah said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for me a king among his sons.

¹¹ And Samuel said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? And he said, There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is keeping the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and fetch him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.
¹² And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and of a beautiful countenance and fine to look upon. And Jehovah said, Arise, anoint him, for this is he. ¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

¹² Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah, whose name was Jesse. And he had eight sons and the man was an old man in the days of Saul, stricken in years among men.

⁵⁸ And Saul said to him, Whose son are you, young man? And David answered, I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.

³⁰ Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan and he said to him, You son of a perverse rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the shame of your mother's nakedness? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the ground, you will not be established, nor your kingdom. Therefore now send and fetch him to me, for he will surely die.

⁸ that all of you* have conspired against me and there is none who discloses to me when my son makes a league with the son of Jesse? And there is none of you* who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day.

³ And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

²⁶ And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband. ²⁷ And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Jehovah.

²⁴ And David comforted Bathsheba his wife and went in to her and lay with her. And she bore a son and he called his name Solomon. And Jehovah loved him, ²⁵ and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet. And he called his name Jedidiah, for Jehovah's sake.

¹ Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says and the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob and the sweet psalmist of Israel:

³⁹ Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.

¹¹ Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns and David our lord does not know it? ¹² Now therefore I beseech you, come, let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon. ¹³ Go and get you in to king David and say to him, Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me and he will sit upon my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign? ¹⁴ Behold, while you yet talk there with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words.
¹⁵ And Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber. And the king was very old and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king. ¹⁶ And Bathsheba bowed the head and bowed-down to the king. And the king said, What do you want? ¹⁷ And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Jehovah your God to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me and he will sit upon my throne.

²⁸ Then king David answered and said, Call Bathsheba to me. And she came into the king's presence and stood before the king. ²⁹ And the king swore and said, As Jehovah lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity, ³⁰ truly as I swore to you by Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son will reign after me and he will sit upon my throne in my stead. Surely so I will do this day. ³¹ Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth and bowed-down to the king and said, Let my lord king David live everlasting.

⁵ because David did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

⁵ And these were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea and Shobab and Nathan and Solomon, four, of Bathsheba the daughter of Ammiel;

⁴¹ Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,

⁴ And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua and Shobab, Nathan and Solomon,

⁵ And of all my sons (for Jehovah has given me many sons), he has chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel.

²⁰ The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

³ For the law being powerless, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, having sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh;

⁴³ And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned instead of him.

³¹ And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijah his son reigned instead of him.

⁸ And Abijah slept with his fathers and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned instead of him. ⁹ And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam King of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah. ¹⁰ And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. And his grandmother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
¹¹ And Asa did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah as David his father did. ¹² And he put away the sodomites out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. ¹³ And also he removed Maacah his grandmother from being queen because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
¹⁴ But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with Jehovah all his days. ¹⁵ And he brought into the house of Jehovah the things that his father had dedicated and the things that he himself had dedicated, silver and gold and vessels.
¹⁶ And there was war between Asa and Baasha King of Israel all their days. ¹⁷ And Baasha King of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
¹⁸ Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah and the treasures of the king's house and delivered them into the hand of his servants. And king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying, ¹⁹ There is a league between me and you, between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your league with Baasha King of Israel, that he may depart from me.
²⁰ And Ben-hadad listened to king Asa and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel and killed* Ijon and Dan and Abelbeth-maacah and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali. ²¹ And it happened, when Baasha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah and dwelt in Tirzah.
²² Then king Asa made a proclamation to all Judah; none was exempted. And they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timber of it, with which Baasha had built. And king Asa built with it Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
²³ Now the rest of all the acts of Asa and all his might and all that he did and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

¹⁰ And Solomon's son was Rehoboam, Abijah his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son, ¹¹ Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son, ¹² Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son, ¹³ Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son, ¹⁴ Amon his son, Josiah his son.

³¹ And Solomon slept with his fathers and he was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned instead of him.

¹ And it happened, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, that he forsook the law of Jehovah and all Israel with him.

⁷ And there were gathered to him vain men, sons of worthlessness, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon when Rehoboam was young and tender-hearted and could not withstand them.

¹ So Abijah slept with his fathers and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned instead of him. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
² And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of Jehovah his God. ³ For he took away the foreign altars and the high places and broke down the pillars and hewed down the Asherim, ⁴ and commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers and to do the law and the commandment. ⁵ Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images. And the kingdom was quiet before him.
⁶ And he built fortified cities in Judah. For the land was quiet and he had no war in those years, because Jehovah had given him rest. ⁷ For he said to Judah, Let us build these cities and make about them walls and towers, gates and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought Jehovah our God. We have sought him and he has given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
⁸ And Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and eighty thousand. All these were mighty men of valor.
⁹ And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a million and three hundred chariots. And he came to Mareshah. ¹⁰ Then Asa went out to meet him and they arranged for battle in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
¹¹ And Asa cried to Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and he who has no strength. Help us, O Jehovah our God. For we rely on you and in your name we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, you are our God. Do not let man prevail against you.
¹² So Jehovah killed* the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah. And the Ethiopians fled. ¹³ And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. And there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves. For they were destroyed before Jehovah and before his army. And they carried away very much booty.
¹⁴ And they killed* all the cities all around Gerar. For the fear of Jehovah came upon them. And they despoiled all the cities. For there was much spoil in them. ¹⁵ They also killed* the tents of cattle and carried away sheep in abundance and camels and returned to Jerusalem.

²⁴ And Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned instead of him.

² And it happened in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the King of Israel. ³ And the King of Israel said to his servants, Know that Ramoth-gilead is ours and we are still and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria? ⁴ And he said to Jehoshaphat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.
⁵ And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I beseech you, inquire first for the word of Jehovah. ⁶ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king. ⁷ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him? ⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.
⁹ Then the King of Israel called an officer and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah. ¹⁰ Now the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria. And all the prophets were prophesying before them.
¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron and said, Jehovah says thus, With these you will push the Syrians until they are consumed. ¹² And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper, for Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.
¹³ And the messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. I beseech you, let your word be like the word of one of them and speak good. ¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah lives, what Jehovah says to me, that I will speak.
¹⁵ And when he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, will we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or will we forbear? And he answered him, Go up and prosper and Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king. ¹⁶ And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?
¹⁷ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master, let them return every man to his house in peace. ¹⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?
¹⁹ And Micaiah said, Therefore hear the word of Jehovah. I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. ²⁰ And Jehovah said, Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner and another said on that manner.
²¹ And there came out a spirit and stood before Jehovah and said, I will entice him. ²² And Jehovah said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so. ²³ Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.
²⁴ Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and killed* Micaiah on the cheek and said, Which way did the Spirit of Jehovah go from me to speak to you? ²⁵ And Micaiah said, Behold, you will see on that day when you will go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.
²⁶ And the King of Israel said, Take Micaiah and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son, ²⁷ and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I come in peace. ²⁸ And Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, you* peoples, all of you*.
²⁹ So the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. ³⁰ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but put on your robes. And the King of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.
³¹ Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the King of Israel.
³² And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the King of Israel and they turned aside to fight against him. And Jehoshaphat cried out. ³³ And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the King of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
³⁴ And a certain man drew his bow at a venture and killed* the King of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn your hand and carry me out of the army, for I am severely wounded. ³⁵ And the battle increased that day. And the king was propped up in his chariot against the Syrians. And he died at evening and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
³⁶ And there went a cry throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city and every man to his country.
³⁷ So the king died and was brought to Samaria and they buried the king in Samaria. ³⁸ And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria and the dogs licked up his blood (now the prostitutes washed themselves there), according to the word of Jehovah which he spoke.
³⁹ Now the rest of the acts of Ahab and all that he did and the ivory house which he built and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? ⁴⁰ So Ahab slept with his fathers and Ahaziah his son reigned instead of him.
⁴¹ And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab King of Israel. ⁴² Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
⁴³ And he walked in all the way of Asa his father. He turned not aside from it, doing what was right in the eyes of Jehovah. However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. ⁴⁴ And Jehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.
⁴⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat and his might that he showed and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
⁴⁶ And he put away out of the land the remnant of the sodomites, who remained in the days of his father Asa. ⁴⁷ And there was no king in Edom; a deputy was king. ⁴⁸ Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go, for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber. ⁴⁹ Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with your servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
⁵⁰ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Jehoram his son reigned instead of him.

¹ Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah and reigned twelve years.

¹⁶ And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab King of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

²¹ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

¹ In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam King of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign. ² He was sixteen years old when he began to reign and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. ³ And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. ⁴ However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
⁵ And Jehovah killed* the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham the king's son was over the household, judging the people of the land. ⁶ Now the rest of the acts of Azariah and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

¹¹ Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son,

¹ And Jehoshaphat his son reigned instead of him and strengthened himself against Israel. ² And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken. ³ And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David and did not seek for the Baals, ⁴ but sought for the God of his father and walked in his commandments and not after the practices of Israel.
⁵ Therefore Jehovah established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute and he had riches and honor in abundance. ⁶ And his heart was lifted up in the ways of Jehovah. And furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
⁷ Also in the third year of his reign he sent his rulers, even Ben-hail and Obadiah and Zechariah and Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; ⁸ and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah and Nethaniah and Zebadiah and Asahel and Shemiramoth and Jehonathan and Adonijah and Tobijah and Tob-adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
⁹ And they taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Jehovah with them. And they went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
¹⁰ And the fear of Jehovah fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were all around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat. ¹¹ And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams and seven thousand and seven hundred male-goats.
¹² And Jehoshaphat grew exceedingly great. And he built in Judah castles and cities of storage. ¹³ And he had many works in the cities of Judah and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And this was the numbering of them according to their fathers' houses.
Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor; ¹⁵ and next to him Jehohanan the captain and with him two hundred and eighty thousand; ¹⁶ and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Jehovah and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
¹⁷ And of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield; ¹⁸ and next to him Jehozabad and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for war.
¹⁹ These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.

¹ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned instead of him.

¹ And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah. ² He built Eloth and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers. ³ Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.
⁴ And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. ⁵ And he set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God. And as long as he sought Jehovah, God made him to prosper.
⁶ And he went forth and warred against the Philistines and broke down the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod. And he built cities in the country of Ashdod and among the Philistines.
⁷ And God helped him against the Philistines and against the Arabians who dwelt in Gur-baal and the Meunim. ⁸ And the Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah. And his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt, for he grew exceedingly strong.
⁹ Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate and at the valley gate and at the turning of the wall and fortified them. ¹⁰ And he built towers in the wilderness and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle, also in the lowland and in the plain. And he had farmer and vine-dressers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields, for he loved husbandry.
¹¹ Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.
¹² The whole number of the heads of fathers, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred. ¹³ And under their hand was an army, three hundred seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
¹⁴ And Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields and spears and helmets and coats of mail and bows and stones for slinging. ¹⁵ And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and upon the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad. For he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.
¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly and he trespassed against Jehovah his God. For he went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest went in after him and with him eighty priests of Jehovah, who were valiant men.
¹⁸ And they withstood Uzziah the king and said to him, It does not pertain to you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Jehovah, but to the priests the sons of Aaron who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary. For you have trespassed, neither will it be for your honor from Jehovah God.
¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry. And he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the altar of incense. ²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests, looked upon him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead. And they thrust him out quickly from there. Yes, he himself also hastened to go out, because Jehovah had struck him.
²¹ And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper. For he was cut off from the house of Jehovah and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
²² Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote. ²³ So Uzziah slept with his fathers and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings. For they said, He is a leper. And Jotham his son reigned instead of him.

⁷ And Azariah slept with his fathers and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David. And Jotham his son reigned instead of him.

³² In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah King of Israel, Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.

¹ Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah King of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. ² He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
³ And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done. ⁴ He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah and he broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made. For to those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it and he called it Nehushtan.
⁵ He trusted in Jehovah, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. ⁶ For he clung to Jehovah. He did not depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Jehovah commanded Moses.
⁷ And Jehovah was with him. Wherever he went forth he prospered. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. ⁸ He killed* the Philistines to Gaza and the borders of it, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
⁹ And it happened in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah King of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it. ¹⁰ And at the end of three years they took it. Samaria was taken in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea King of Israel. ¹¹ And the king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria and put them in Halak and on the Habor, the river of Gozan and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they did not obey the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded and would not hear it, nor do it.
¹³ Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them. ¹⁴ And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended. Return from me. What you put on me I will bear. And the king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talants of silver and thirty talants of gold. ¹⁵ And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Jehovah and in the treasures of the king's house. ¹⁶ At that time Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of Jehovah and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid and gave it to the king of Assyria.
¹⁷ And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they came up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway of the launder's field. ¹⁸ And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household and Shebnah the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
¹⁹ And Rabshakeh said to them, Say you* now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this in which you trust? ²⁰ You say (but they are but vain words), There is counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom do you trust that you have rebelled against me?

¹¹ Joram his son, Ahaziah his son, Joash his son, ¹² Amaziah his son, Azariah his son, Jotham his son, ¹³ Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son,

²¹ And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper. For he was cut off from the house of Jehovah and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

¹ Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
² And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Uzziah had done. However he did not enter into the temple of Jehovah. And the people still did corruptly. ³ He built the upper gate of the house of Jehovah and on the wall of Ophel he built much. ⁴ Moreover he built cities in the hill-country of Judah and in the forests he built castles and towers.
⁵ Also he fought with the king of the sons of Ammon and prevailed against them. And the sons of Ammon gave him the same year a hundred talants of silver and ten thousand measures of wheat and ten thousand of barley. So much did the sons of Ammon render to him, in the second year also and in the third. ⁶ So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Jehovah his God.
⁷ Now the rest of the acts of Jotham and all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. ⁸ He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. ⁹ And Jotham slept with his fathers and they buried him in the city of David. And Ahaz his son reigned instead of him.

¹ Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of Jehovah like David his father, ² but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and also made molten images for the Baals.
³ Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom and burnt his sons in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the sons of Israel. ⁴ And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.
⁵ Therefore Jehovah his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And they killed* him and carried away of his a great multitude of captives and brought them to Damascus.
And he was also delivered into the hand of the King of Israel, who killed* him with a great slaughter. ⁶ For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men, because they had forsaken Jehovah, the God of their fathers. ⁷ And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king's son and Azrikam the ruler of the house and Elkanah who was next to the king.
⁸ And the sons of Israel carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand, women, sons and daughters and also took away much spoil from them and brought the spoil to Samaria.
⁹ But a prophet of Jehovah was there, whose name was Oded. And he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria and said to them, Behold, because Jehovah, the God of your* fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your* hand. And you* have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.
¹⁰ And now you* propose to keep under the sons of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen to you*. Are there not even with you* trespasses of your* own against Jehovah your* God?
¹¹ Now hear me therefore and send back the captives that you* have taken captive of your* brothers. For the fierce wrath of Jehovah is upon you*.
¹² Then certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war, ¹³ and said to them, You* will not bring in the captives here. For you* propose what will bring upon us a trespass against Jehovah, to add to our sins and to our trespass. For our trespass is great and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
¹⁴ So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the rulers and all the assembly. ¹⁵ And the men who have been mentioned by name rose up and took the captives and with the spoil clothed all who were naked among them and dressed them and shod them and gave them to eat and to drink and anointed them and carried all the feeble of them upon donkeys and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
¹⁶ At that time king Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him. ¹⁷ For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah and carried away captives. ¹⁸ The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland and of the South of Judah and had taken Beth-shemesh and Aijalon and Gederoth and Soco with the towns of it and Timnah with the towns of it, also Gimzo and the towns of it. And they dwelt there.
¹⁹ For Jehovah brought Judah low because of Ahaz King of Israel, for he had dealt wantonly in Judah and trespassed severely against Jehovah.
²⁰ And Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came to him and distressed him, but did not strengthen him. ²¹ For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Jehovah and out of the house of the king and of the rulers and gave it to the king of Assyria, but it did not help him.
²² And in the time of his distress he trespassed yet more against Jehovah, this same king Ahaz. ²³ For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which killed* him. And he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, therefore I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.
²⁴ And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God and shut up the doors of the house of Jehovah. And he made altars for him in every corner of Jerusalem. ²⁵ And in every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods and provoked to anger Jehovah, the God of his fathers.
²⁶ Now the rest of his acts and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. ²⁷ And Ahaz slept with his fathers and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem. For they did not bring him into the sepulchers of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son reigned instead of him.

¹ Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. ² And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.
³ In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of Jehovah and repaired them. ⁴ And he brought in the priests and the Levites and gathered them together into the broad place on the east, ⁵ and said to them, Hear me, you* Levites. Now sanctify yourselves and sanctify the house of Jehovah, the God of your* fathers and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
⁶ For our fathers have trespassed and done what was evil in the sight of Jehovah our God and have forsaken him and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Jehovah and turned their backs. ⁷ Also they have shut up the doors of the porch and put out the lamps and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.
⁸ Therefore the wrath of Jehovah was upon Judah and Jerusalem and he has delivered them to be tossed to and fro, to be an astonishment and a hissing, as you* see with your* eyes. ⁹ For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
¹⁰ Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Jehovah, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us. ¹¹ My sons, do not be negligent now. For Jehovah has chosen you* to stand before him, to minister to him and that you* should be his ministers and burn incense.
¹² Then the Levites arose: Mahath, the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehallelel and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah; ¹³ and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah, ¹⁴ and of the sons of Heman, Jehiel and Shimei and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.
¹⁵ And they gathered their brothers and made themselves holy and went in, according to the commandment of the king by the words of Jehovah, to cleanse the house of Jehovah. ¹⁶ And the priests went in to the inner part of the house of Jehovah to cleanse it and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovah into the court of the house of Jehovah. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.
¹⁷ Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of Jehovah. And they made the house of Jehovah holy in eight days and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
¹⁸ Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace and said, We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah and the altar of burnt offering with all the vessels of it and the table of showbread with all the vessels of it. ¹⁹ Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign cast away when he trespassed, we have prepared and made holy. And behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.
²⁰ Then Hezekiah the king arose early and gathered the rulers of the city and went up to the house of Jehovah. ²¹ And they brought seven bullocks and seven rams and seven lambs and seven male-goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovah.
²² So they killed the bullocks. And the priests received the blood and sprinkled it on the altar. And they killed the rams and sprinkled the blood upon the altar. They also killed the lambs and sprinkled the blood upon the altar. ²³ And they brought near the male-goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly. And they laid their hands upon them, ²⁴ and the priests killed them. And they made a sin offering with their blood upon the altar, to make atonement for all Israel. For the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
²⁵ And he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries and with harps, according to the commandment of David and of Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet. For the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets. ²⁶ And the Levites stood with the instruments of David and the priests with the trumpets.
²⁷ And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of Jehovah began also and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David King of Israel. ²⁸ And all the assembly worshiped and the singers sang and some blew the trumpet. All this until the burnt offering was finished.
²⁹ And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped. ³⁰ Moreover Hezekiah the king and the rulers commanded the Levites to sing praises to Jehovah with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
³¹ Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now you* have consecrated yourselves to Jehovah. Come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of Jehovah. And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.
³² And the number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bullocks, a hundred rams and two hundred lambs. All these were for a burnt offering to Jehovah.

¹ And it happened in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, King of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it. ² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart trembled and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind. ³ Then Jehovah said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the launder's field. ⁴ And say to him, Take heed and be quiet. Do not fear, nor let your heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and of the son of Remaliah. ⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, have purposed evil against you, saying, ⁶ Let us go up against Judah and besiege it and let us make a breach in it for us and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel, ⁷ the lord Jehovah says thus: It will not stand, nor will it happen.
⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken in pieces, so that is will not be a people. ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you* will not believe, surely you* will not be established.
¹⁰ And Jehovah spoke again to Ahaz, saying, ¹¹ Ask you a sign of Jehovah your God, ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. ¹² But Ahaz said, I will not ask, nor will I challenge Jehovah.
¹³ And he said, Hear now, O house of David. Is it a small thing for you* to weary men, that you* will weary my God also?

⁴ And Rabshakeh said to them, Say you* now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this in which you trust? ⁵ I say, your counsel and strength for the war are but vain words. Now on whom do you trust that you have rebelled against me? ⁶ Behold, you trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh King of Egypt to all who trust on him.
⁷ But if you say to me, We trust in Jehovah our God. Is that not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, You* will worship before this altar?
⁸ Now therefore, I beseech you, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders upon them. ⁹ How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
¹⁰ And have I now come up without Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, Go up against this land and destroy it.
¹¹ Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, I beseech you, speak, to your servants in the Syrian language, for we understand it. And do not speak to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people who are on the wall.
¹² But Rabshakeh said, Has my master sent me to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit upon the wall, to eat their own manure and to drink their own urine with you*?
¹³ Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language and said, Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria. ¹⁴ Thus says the king, Do not let Hezekiah deceive you*, for he will not be able to deliver you*. ¹⁵ Neither let Hezekiah make you* trust in Jehovah, saying, Jehovah will surely deliver us. This city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
¹⁶ Listen not to Hezekiah. For thus says the king of Assyria, Make your* peace with me and come out to me and eat you* everyone of his vine and everyone of his fig tree and drink you* everyone the waters of his own cistern, ¹⁷ until I come and take you* away to a land like your* own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
¹⁸ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you*, saying, Jehovah will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
²⁰ Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
²¹ But they held their peace and answered him not a word. For the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
²² Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah came, who was over the household and Shebna the scribe and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

² And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah and said, O altar, altar, Jehovah says thus: Behold, a son will be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. And upon you will he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon you and men's bones they will burn upon you.

²¹ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers and Manasseh his son reigned instead of him.

²¹ And he walked in all the way that his father walked in and served the idols that his father served and worshiped them. ²² And he forsook Jehovah, the God of his fathers and did not walk in the way of Jehovah.
²³ And the servants of Amon conspired against him and put the king to death in his own house. ²⁴ But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against king Amon. And the people of the land made Josiah his son king instead of him.
²⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ²⁶ And he was buried in his sepulcher in the garden of Uzza and Josiah his son reigned instead of him.

²¹ And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the Passover to Jehovah your* God, as it is written in this book of the covenant. ²² Surely such a Passover was not kept from the days of the judges who judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah. ²³ But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah this Passover was kept to Jehovah in Jerusalem.
²⁴ Moreover Josiah put away the psychics and the wizards and the household-idol and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Jehovah.
²⁵ And there was no king before him like him, who turned to Jehovah with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither arose any like him after him.
²⁶ Notwithstanding, Jehovah did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him. ²⁷ And Jehovah said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight as I have removed Israel and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem and the house of which I said, My name will be there.
²⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ²⁹ In his days Pharaoh Neco King of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates and king Josiah went against him. And Pharaoh Neco killed him at Megiddo when he had seen him. ³⁰ And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own sepulcher. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and anointed him and made him king in his father's stead.

³ Surely at the commandment of Jehovah this came upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, ⁴ and also for the innocent blood that he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood and Jehovah would not pardon.

¹³ Ahaz his son, Hezekiah his son, Manasseh his son, ¹⁴ Amon his son, Josiah his son.
¹⁵ And the sons of Josiah: the firstborn Johanan, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum.

³³ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers and they buried him in the ascent of the sepulchers of the sons of David. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned instead of him.

² to whom the word of Jehovah came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
³ It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away captive of Jerusalem in the fifth month.

³¹ Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

¹¹ And the remnant of the people that were left in the city and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon and the remnant of the multitude, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive.

¹⁵ And the sons of Josiah: the firstborn Johanan, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum. ¹⁶ And the sons of Jehoiakim: Jeconiah his son, Zedekiah his son. ¹⁷ And the sons of Jeconiah, the captive: Shealtiel his son,

¹ Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem. ² Joahaz was twenty-threeyears old when he began to reign and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
³ And the King of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem and fined the land a hundred talants of silver and a talant of gold. ⁴ And the King of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Neco took Joahaz his brother and carried him to Egypt.
⁵ Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God.
⁶ Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him and bound him in fetters to carry him to Babylon. ⁷ Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of Jehovah to Babylon and put them in his temple at Babylon.
⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and his abominations which he did and what was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son reigned instead of him.

¹⁰ And at the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Jehovah and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

²⁰ And those who had escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia,

¹⁰ For pass over to the isles of Kittim and see and send to Kedar and consider diligently and see if there has been such a thing. ¹¹ Has a nation changed its gods, which yet are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for what does not profit.
¹² Be astonished, O you* heavens, at this and be horribly afraid. Be you* very desolate, says Jehovah. ¹³ For my people have committed two evils: They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
¹⁴ Is Israel a servant? Is he a born in a house? Why has he become a prey? ¹⁵ The young lions have roared upon him and yelled and they have made his land waste. His cities are burned up, without inhabitant. ¹⁶ The sons also of Memphis and Tahpanhes have broken the crown of your head.
¹⁷ Have you not procured this to yourself, in that you have forsaken Jehovah your God when he led you by the way?
¹⁸ And now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or what have you to do in the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?
¹⁹ Your own wickedness will discipline you and your backslidings will reprove you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that you have forsaken Jehovah your God and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
²⁰ For from old time I have broken your yoke and burst your bonds. And you said, I will not serve, for upon every high hill and under every green tree you bowed yourself, playing the prostitute. ²¹ Yet I had planted you a noble vine, entirely a right seed. How then have you turned into the degenerate branches of a foreign vine to me?
²² For though you wash with lye and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the lord Jehovah. ²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done, a swift dromedary traversing her ways, ²⁴ a wild donkey used to the wilderness, that sniffs up the wind in her desire. In her time of estrus who can turn her away? All those who seek her will not weary themselves. In her month they will find her.
²⁵ Withhold your foot from being unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said, It is in vain. No, for I have loved strangers and after them I will go.
²⁶ As the thief is shamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel shamed, they, their kings, their rulers and their priests and their prophets, ²⁷ who say to a block of wood, You are my father and to a stone, You have brought me forth. For they have turned their back to me and not their face.
But in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise and save us. ²⁸ But where are your gods that you have made you? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble. For according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

²⁰ which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.

⁹ Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the residue of the people that remained in the city, the deserters also that fell away to him and the residue of the people that remained.

¹¹ And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah. And the king of Babylon bound him in fetters and carried him to Babylon and put him in prison till the day of his death.
¹² Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem. ¹³ And he burned the house of Jehovah and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem. Even every great house, he burned with fire. ¹⁴ And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.
¹⁵ Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the poorest of the people and the residue of the people who were left in the city and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon and the residue of the multitude.

²⁸ This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: In the seventh year three thousand twenty-three Jews. ²⁹ In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty-two persons. ³⁰ In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty-five persons. All the persons were four thousand six hundred.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God. And he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god and he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.

²⁷ And it happened in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison.

¹⁷ And the sons of Jeconiah, the captive: Shealtiel his son,

¹⁹ And the sons of Pedaiah: Zerubbabel and Shimei. And the sons of Zerubbabel: Meshullam and Hananiah; and Shelomith was their sister; ²⁰ and Hashubah and Ohel and Berechiah and Hasadiah, Jushab-hesed, five. ²¹ And the sons of Hananiah: Pelatiah and Jeshaiah; the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, the sons of Shecaniah. ²² And the sons of Shecaniah : Shemaiah. And the sons of Shemaiah: Hattush and Igal and Bariah and Neariah and Shaphat, six. ²³ And the sons of Neariah: Elioenai and Hizkiah and Azrikam, three. ²⁴ And the sons of Elioneai: Hodaviah and Eliashib and Pelaiah and Akkub and Johanan and Delaiah and Anani, seven.

² Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers, stood up and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

² Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, rose up and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.

¹ Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

²⁴ As I live, says Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet I would pluck you from there,

²⁸ Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his seed and are cast into the land which they do not know?

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹² Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him. And the people feared before Jehovah.

¹⁴ And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and did work on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,

² Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest and to the remnant of the people, saying,

²³ In that day, says Jehovah of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, says Jehovah and will make you as a signet. For I have chosen you, says Jehovah of hosts.

²⁷ from Joanan, from Rhesa, from Zerubbabel, from Shealtiel, from Neri,

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: for when his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit. ¹⁹ Now Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man and not willing to disgrace her, planned to divorce her secretly. ²⁰ But when he was contemplating these things, behold, a messenger of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary to you, as your wife for what was born in her is from the Holy Spirit. ²¹ Now she will be bearing a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will be saving his people from their sins. ²² Now this whole thing has happened, in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ²³ ‘Behold, the virgin will be pregnant, and will be bearing a son, and they will call his name Immanuel'; which is, after being translated, ‘God with us.’ ²⁴ Now having been aroused from his sleep, Joseph did as the messenger of the Lord commanded him and took his wife to him; ²⁵ and did not know her intimately until she bore her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus.

¹³ Now when they had departed, behold, a messenger of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream, saying, When you arise, take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there until I should speak to you again, because Herod is about to seek the young child to destroy him.

¹⁷ Therefore, having been gathered together, Pilate said to them, Whom do you wish that I may release to you? Barabbas or Jesus who is called Christ?

²² Pilate says to them, Therefore what should I do to Jesus who is called Christ?
They all say to him, Let him be crucified!

³ Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Jude and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were being offended at him.

²⁷ to a virgin who has been engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, from the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary.

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and will be bearing a son and will call his name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest and the Lord God will be giving to him the throne of his father David, ³³ and he will be reigning over the house of Jacob forever, and there will be no end of his kingdom.
³⁴ But Mary said to the messenger, How will this be, since I do not know a man sexually?
³⁵ And the messenger answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Highest will be overshadowing you; hence the holy one being born out of you will also be called the Son of God.

⁴ Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was out of the house and family of David; ⁵ to register himself together with Mary, who has been engaged to him as his wife, being pregnant.

⁷ and she bore her firstborn son, and she swaddled and laid him in the manger, because there was no place for them in the boarding-house.

¹⁰ And the messenger said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good-news of great joy which will be to all the people, ¹¹ because there was born to you today in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

⁴⁸ And when they saw him, they were astounded, and his mother said to him, Son, why have you done so to us? Behold, your father and I was seeking you, sorrowing.

²³ And he was approximately thirty years old, when beginning to teach, (as it was supposed, the son of Joseph). Although Jesus, himself was a descendant from Heli,

²² And all were testifying of him, and were marveling at the words of favor which traveled from his mouth, and they were saying, Is this not Joseph’s son?

²⁵ The woman says to him, I know that the Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). Whenever he comes, that man will be proclaiming all things to us.

¹⁴ And he carried away all Jerusalem and all the rulers and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives and all the craftsmen and the blacksmiths. None remained except the poorest sort of the people of the land.

¹¹ and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brethren, at the time of the exile of Babylon.
¹² And after the exile of Babylon, Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel; and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel;

² Now when John heard the works of the Christ while in prison, he sent two of his disciples

⁴¹ This one finds first his own brother Simon and says to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, after being translated, The Christ).

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise your head and you will bruise his heel.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

³⁸ But Mary said, Behold, the bondservant of the Lord; let it happen to me according to your declaration. And the messenger went away from her.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born out of a woman, born under the law, ⁵ in order that he might buy those up who were under the law, in order that we might receive the sonship. \ulnone\nosupersub

²⁶ For such a high-priest was suitable to us, holy, guiltless, undefiled, has been separated away from sinners and became exalted from the heavens;

⁵ Hence when he enters into the world, he says, ‘You did not wish to have sacrifice and offering, but you, yourself, completed a body for me.

⁹ These are the genealogies of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

²⁴ And it happened about three months after, that it was told to Judah, saying, Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the prostitute and moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.
And Judah said, Bring her forth and let her be burnt.

²⁰ And whoever lies carnally with a woman, who is a bondmaid, betrothed to a husband and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her, they will be punished. They will not be put to death, because she was not free.

¹⁰ And the man who commits adultery with another man's wife, even he who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress will surely be put to death.

²¹ then they will bring the maiden out to the door of her father's house and the men of her city will stone her to death with stones, because she has done senselessness in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father's house. So will you put away the evil from the midst of you.
²² If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they will both of them die, the man that lay with the woman and the woman. So will you put away the evil from Israel.
²³ If there is a maiden who is a virgin betrothed to a husband and a man finds her in the city and lies with her, ²⁴ then you* will bring them both out to the gate of that city. And you* will stone them to death with stones, the maiden, because she did not cry out, being in the city and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife. So you will put away the evil from the midst of you.

¹ When a man takes a wife and marries her, then it will be, if she finds no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he will write her a document of divorcement and give it in her hand and send her out of his house.
² And when she has departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's. ³ And if the latter husband dislikes her and writes her a document of divorcement and gives it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies, who took her to be his wife, ⁴ her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife after she is defiled. For that is abomination before Jehovah and you will not cause the land to sin, which Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance.

⁴ To the upright there arises light in the darkness. He is gracious and merciful and righteous.
⁵ It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment,

²⁰ for Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and was protecting him. And having heard him, he was doing many things, and was gladly hearing him, often.

⁴ But they said, Moses permitted us to write a document of divorcement and to divorce her.

²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

⁴ they say to him, testing him, Teacher, this woman was overtaken in the very-act of committing adultery. ⁵ Now Moses commanded us in the law such ones are to be stoned. Therefore what do you say?

²² Now they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and fearing God, being well testified of by the whole nation of the Jews, was divinely-warned by a holy messenger to send for you to come to his house and to hear words from you.

¹¹ And the messenger of God said to me in the dream, Jacob.
And I said, Here I am.

³ And he said, I am God, the God of your father. Do not fear to go down into Egypt, because I will there make of you a great nation.

⁶ And he said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you*, I Jehovah will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

³ And the messenger of Jehovah appeared to the woman and said to her, Behold now, you are barren and do not bear, but you will conceive and bear a son.

⁸ Then Manoah entreated Jehovah and said, Oh, Lord, I beseech you, let the man of God whom you sent come again to us and teach us what we will do to the child that will be born. ⁹ And God listened to the voice of Manoah and the messenger of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her.

¹³ And Elijah said to her, Do not fear, go and do as you have said. But make me of it a little cake first and bring it forth to me and afterward make for you and for your son.

¹³ In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, ¹⁴ fear came upon me and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. ¹⁵ Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up. ¹⁶ It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance of it. A form was before my eyes.
There was silence and I heard a voice, saying,

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed.
¹⁶ Then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction ¹⁷ that he may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man.

⁸ Good and upright is Jehovah. Therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek he will guide in justice and the meek he will teach his way.

¹⁹ Your comforts delight my soul in the multitude of my thoughts within me.

¹²⁵ I am your servant. Give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies.

⁸ Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, because I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, because I lift up my soul to you.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. ⁶ Acknowledge him in all your ways and he will direct your paths.

⁵ The thoughts of the righteous are just. The counsels of the wicked are deceit.

² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart trembled and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

¹³ And he said, Hear now, O house of David. Is it a small thing for you* to weary men, that you* will weary my God also?

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

²¹ And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk you* in it when you* turn to the right hand and when you* turn to the left.

⁷ Listen to me, you* who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law. Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be you* dismayed at their revilings.

²² How long will you go here and there, O you backsliding daughter? For Jehovah has created a new thing in the earth: a woman will encompass a man.

⁹ And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, Do not fear to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon and it will be well with you*.

²⁸ And it will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh and your* sons and your* daughters will prophesy. Your* old men will dream dreams. Your* young men will see visions.

¹⁹ But when Herod was dead, behold, a messenger of the Lord appears in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

²² But when he heard that Archelaus is reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and having been divinely-warned in a dream, he departed into the parts of Galilee,

⁵ Now the messenger answered and said to the women, Do not be afraid; for I know that you are seeking Jesus, who has been crucified.

¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside in the hour of incense. ¹¹ And a messenger of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And Zacharias, having seen him, was disturbed, and fear fell upon him.
¹³ But the messenger said to him, Do not fear, Zacharias, because your supplication was heard and your wife Elisabeth will be giving-birth to a son to you and you will call his name John.

¹⁹ And the messenger answered and said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands in God’s sight, and I was sent to speak to you and to proclaim to you this good-news.

²⁶ Now in the sixth month Gabriel the messenger was sent by God to a city of Galilee, whose name was Nazareth,

⁴ Now Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was out of the house and family of David;

⁸ And there were shepherds in the same region, camping out and observing watches over their flock by night. ⁹ And behold, a messenger of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. ¹⁰ And the messenger said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good-news of great joy which will be to all the people, ¹¹ because there was born to you today in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. ¹² And this is the sign to you : you will be finding a swaddled baby, laying in a manger. ¹³ And suddenly, a multitude of the heavenly army praising God happened to be together with the messenger, and saying, ¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and peace upon earth, in men–delight.

¹⁹ And God said, No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son and you will call his name Isaac. And I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

²¹ But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time in the next year.

¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return to you when the season comes round, and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. And Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.

¹⁶ And he said, At this season, when the time comes round, you will embrace a son. And she said, No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid.
¹⁷ And the woman conceived and bore a son at that season, when the time came round, as Elisha had said to her.

⁷ O Israel, hope in Jehovah, because there is loving kindness with Jehovah and plentiful redemption is with him. ⁸ And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

¹ And you will say in that day, I will give thanks to you, O Jehovah, for though you were angry with me. Your anger is turned away and you comfort me. ² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and will not be afraid, for Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song and he has become my salvation.

²¹ Declare and bring it forth. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from long-ago? Who has declared it long since? Have not I, Jehovah? And there is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior. There is none besides me. ²² Look to me and be you* saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.

⁶ In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell safely. And this is his name by which he will be called: Jehovah our righteousness.

²⁵ And I will sprinkle clean water upon you* and you* will be clean. I will cleanse you* from all your* filthiness and from all your* idols.
²⁶ I will also give you* a new heart and I will put a new spirit within you*. And I will take away the stony heart out of your* flesh and I will give you* a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will put my Spirit within you* and cause you* to walk in my statutes and you* will keep my ordinances and do them.
²⁸ And you* will dwell in the land that I gave to your* fathers and you* will be my people and I will be your* God. ²⁹ And I will save you* from all your* uncleannesses. And I will call for the grain and will multiply it and lay no famine upon you*.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish transgression and to make an end of sins and to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem. Behold, your king comes to you. He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding upon a donkey, even upon a colt the foal of a donkey.

¹³ But the messenger said to him, Do not fear, Zacharias, because your supplication was heard and your wife Elisabeth will be giving-birth to a son to you and you will call his name John.

³¹ And behold, you will conceive in your womb and will be bearing a son and will call his name Jesus.

³⁵ And the messenger answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Highest will be overshadowing you; hence the holy one being born out of you will also be called the Son of God. ³⁶ And behold, Elisabeth your relative, she also has conceived a son in her elderliness, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren,

¹¹ because there was born to you today in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

²¹ And when eight days were fulfilled to circumcise him, his name was called Jesus, which was called by the messenger before he was conceived in the womb.

²⁹ On the next-day he sees Jesus coming toward him and says, Behold, the Lamb of God, who is taking away the sin of the world!

²⁶ God, having raised up his young-servant Jesus, sent him to you first, blessing you in turning each of you away from your wickednesses.

¹² And there is salvation in none other; for neither is there any other name, that has been given among men, in which it is essential for us to be saved.

³¹ This Jesus is the Author and Savior who God exalted to his right hand, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

²³ God brought salvation to Israel from the seed of this man David, according to promise,

³⁸ Therefore brethren, let it be known to you that forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you through this one; ³⁹ and everyone who believes is made righteous in this one; you were not able to be made righteous from all the things of which were in the Law of Moses.

²⁵ The husbands, love^*\'b0 your own wives, just-as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up on her behalf; ²⁶ in order that he might make her holy, having cleansed her in the full-washing of the water in the word, ²⁷ in order that he might present her to himself, the glorious congregation, not having stain or wrinkle or any such things, but in order that she should be holy and unblemished.

²⁰ and through him to reconcile all things to himself, whether things upon the earth or things upon the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross, through him. ²¹ And you were previously alienated and were enemies in mind, in evil works, but yet he reconciled you\super\'b0 ²² in the body of his flesh through his death, to present you holy and unblemished and irreproachable in his sight; ²³ if you actually are remaining in the faith, having been founded and grounded and not being moved away from the hope of the good-news which you heard, which was preached in all creation which is under heaven; of which I, Paul, became a servant.

¹⁴ who gave himself on our behalf, in order that he might redeem us away from all lawlessness and might cleanse a treasured people for himself, zealous of good works.

²⁵ Hence he is also able to completely save those who come to God through him, always living, that he may petition on their behalf.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son is cleansing us from every sin.

¹ My little-children, these things I am writing to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone should sin, we have a Helper with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. ² And he is the atonement concerning our sins, but not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world.

⁵ And you know that, that man was manifested in order that he might take away our sins, and in him is no sin.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and washed us away from our sins in his blood; ⁶ and he made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father; the glory and the dominion is to him, forevermore. Amen.

¹⁴ And I said to him, My lord, you know.
And he said to me, These are those who are coming out of the great affliction and they have rinsed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁵ And he said, Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

²⁴ who have kept with your servant David my father what you did promise him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.

¹ Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying,

¹⁵ and they were there until the end of Herod; in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ‘Out of Egypt I called my son.’

²³ and he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that what was spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, that he will be called a Nazarene.

¹⁷ Do not suppose that I came to tear-down the law or the prophets; I did not come to tear-down, but to fulfill.

¹⁷ that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ‘He himself took our weaknesses and bears our diseases.’

¹⁷ that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,

²¹ but he does not have root in himself, but is temporary, and when affliction or persecution has happened to him because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

³⁵ that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ‘I will open my mouth in parables. I will be uttering things which have been hidden from the conception of the world.’

²² Because these are days of vengeance, that all things which have been written may be fulfilled.

⁴⁴ Now he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, being still together with you, that it is essential for all things to be fulfilled, which have been written in the Law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms, concerning me.

³⁵ If he called those men gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture is not able to be torn-down),

³⁸ in order that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, ‘Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?’ ³⁹ Because of this, they were not able to believe, because Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ ‘He has blinded their eyes and he has hardened their heart; in order that they should not see with their eyes and should perceive with their heart and should turn and that I might heal them.’

²⁵ But this happened, in order that the word might be fulfilled that has been written in their law, ‘They hated me undeservedly.’

¹² When I was with them in the world, I was keeping them in your name whom you have given me. I guarded them and not one out of them perished, except the son of destruction; in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

⁹ (This happened in order that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, Out of those whom you have given me, I did not lose one.)

³⁶ For these things happened in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, ‘A bone of him will not be crushed.’ ³⁷ And again a different Scripture says, ‘They will be looking at the one whom they stabbed.’

¹⁸ But what God proclaimed beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that the Christ was to suffer, he thus fulfilled.

²⁷ For those dwelling in Jerusalem and their rulers who were ignorant of this one, and the voices of the prophets which are read on every Sabbath, they fulfilled them by having judged him to death. \ulnone\nosupersub ²⁸ And though no one found a crime worthy of death in him, they still asked Pilate to assassinate him. ²⁹ Now as they completed all things which have been written concerning him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.

¹⁷ For God gave to their hearts to do his intention and to do it with one intention and to give their kingdom to the beast, till the words of God should be completed.

⁹ Make an uproar, O you* peoples and be broken in pieces. And listen, all you* of far countries. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. Gird yourselves and be broken in pieces. ¹⁰ Take counsel together and it will be brought to nothing. Speak the word and it will not stand, for God is with us.

² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and will not be afraid, for Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song and he has become my salvation.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, as many things as I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the earth.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and resided among us (and we saw his glory, glory like that of the only begotten from the Father), full of favor and truth.

⁹ Now the Lord said to Paul through a vision in the night, Do not be afraid, but speak out and do not be silent,

³ concerning his Son, (who was born from the seed of David according to the flesh, ⁴ who has been determined as being the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of holiness, out of the resurrection of the dead), Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁹ as that, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ not counting to them their trespasses and having placed the word of reconciliation in us.

¹⁶ And confessedly great is the mystery of godliness : God was manifested in the flesh, was made righteous in the Spirit, was seen by messengers, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was received up in glory.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood beside me and empowered me; in order that the preaching might be fully assured through me and in order that all the Gentiles might hear and I was rescued out of the mouth of the lion.

²² The Lord Jesus Christ, is with your spirit. Grace is with you. Amen.

¹¹ But Naaman was angry and went away and said, Behold, I thought he will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of Jehovah his God and wave his hand over the place and heal the leper. ¹² Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
¹³ And his servants came near and spoke to him and said, My father, if the prophet had bid you do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, Wash and be clean? ¹⁴ Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God. And his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

⁵ His mother says to the servants, If he says anything to you, do it. ⁶ Now six stone water pots were placed there according to the Jews’cleansing, making room for two or three nine-gallon measures apiece.
⁷ Jesus says to them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them to the top. ⁸ And he says to them, Dip-out some now and carry it to the chief waiter.
And they carried it.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you practice as many things as I command you.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father made righteous from works, having offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Do you see that faith was working together with his works and his faith was completed from his works? ²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘And Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness,' and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Now-then, are you seeing that a man is made righteous from works and not from faith alone? ²⁵ Now likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute also made righteous from works, when she accepted the messengers and put them out a different way? ²⁶ For just-as the body without a spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.

² Sanctify to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the sons of Israel. Both of man and of beast, it is mine.

²⁹ You will not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. The firstborn of your sons you will give to me.

²¹ Now she will be bearing a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will be saving his people from their sins.

²⁹ Because, whom he knew beforehand, he also predetermined, one transformed to the image of his Son, that he himself might be the firstborn among many brethren;
