¹ Now it happened, when the wall was built and I had set up the doors and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed, ² that I gave my brother Hanani and Hananiah the governor of the castle, charge over Jerusalem, for he was a faithful man and feared God above many.
³ And I said to them, Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot and while they stand on guard, let them shut the doors and bar you* them. And appoint watchmen of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, everyone in his watch and everyone to be opposite his house.
⁴ Now the city was wide and large, but the people in it were few and the houses were not built.
⁵ And my God put into my heart to gather together the ranking men and the rulers and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first. And I found written in it: ⁶ These are the sons of the province who went up out of the captivity of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away and who returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, everyone to his city, ⁷ who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah.

⁴³ The Levites: the sons of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of the sons of Hodevah, seventy-four.

⁴⁶ The Nethinim: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁷ the sons of Keros, the sons of Sia, the sons of Padon, ⁴⁸ the sons of Lebana, ⁴⁹ the sons of Hanan, the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar, ⁵⁰ the sons of Reaiah, the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda, ⁵¹ the sons of Gazzam, the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah. ⁵² The sons of Besai, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephushesim, ⁵³ the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur, ⁵⁴ the sons of Bazlith, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha, ⁵⁵ the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah, ⁵⁶ the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.
⁵⁷ The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Sophereth, the sons of Perida, ⁵⁸ the sons of Jaala, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel, ⁵⁹ the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Amon.
⁶⁰ All the Nethinim and the sons of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety-two.
⁶¹ And these were those who went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon and Immer, but they could not show their fathers' house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel: ⁶² The sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred forty-two.
⁶³ And of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called after their name. ⁶⁴ These sought their registration among those who were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found. Therefore they were deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.
⁶⁵ And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
⁶⁶ The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty, ⁶⁷ besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And they had two hundred forty-five singing men and singing women. ⁶⁸ Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six, their mules, two hundred forty-five, ⁶⁹ their camels, four hundred thirty-five, their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
⁷⁰ And some from among the heads of fathers gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury a thousand 128-grain weights of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments. ⁷¹ And some of the heads of fathers gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand 128-grain weights of gold and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver. ⁷² And what the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand 128-grain weights of gold and two thousand pounds of silver and sixty-seven priests' garments.
⁷³ So the priests and the Levites and the gatekeepers and the singers and some of the people and the Nethinim and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month came, the sons of Israel were in their cities.

¹ Now David was old and full of days and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
² And he gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. ³ And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward. And their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand. ⁴ Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah. And six thousand were officers and judges, ⁵ and four thousand were gatekeepers and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which David said I made to praise Him.
⁶ And David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
⁷ Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei. ⁸ The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief and Zetham and Joel, three. ⁹ The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers of Ladan. ¹⁰ And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina and Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei. ¹¹ And Jahath was the chief and Zizah the second. But Jeush and Beriah had not many sons. Therefore they became a fathers' house in one reckoning.
¹² The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel, four. ¹³ The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, until everlasting, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister to him and to bless in his name, until everlasting. ¹⁴ But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi. ¹⁵ The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. ¹⁶ The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief. ¹⁷ And the sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. ¹⁸ The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. ¹⁹ The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third and Jekameam the fourth. ²⁰ The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief and Isshiah the second.
²¹ The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. ²² And Eleazar died and had no sons, but daughters only. And their brothers the sons of Kish took them as a wife. ²³ The sons of Mushi: Mahli and Eder and Jeremoth, three.
²⁴ These were the sons of Levi after their fathers' houses, even the heads of the fathers of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward. ²⁵ For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people and he dwells in Jerusalem until everlasting. ²⁶ And also the Levites will no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service of it.
²⁷ For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.
²⁸ For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God, also ²⁹ for the showbread and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of what is baked in the pan, or of what is soaked and for all manner of measure and size. ³⁰ And to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah and likewise at evening. ³¹ And to offer all burnt offerings to Jehovah, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah. ³² And that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting and the charge of the holy place and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brothers, for the service of the house of Jehovah.

¹ Moreover David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries and with cymbals. And the number of those who did the work according to their service was:
² Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur and Joseph and Nethaniah and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.
³ Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah and Zeri and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Jehovah.
⁴ Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
⁶ All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of Jehovah, with cymbals, psalteries and harps, for the service of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman being under the order of the king. ⁷ And the number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Jehovah, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.
⁸ And they cast lots for their offices, all alike, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.
⁹ Now the first lot came out for Asaph to Joseph, the second to Gedaliah (he and his brothers and sons were twelve), ¹⁰ the third to Zaccur, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹¹ the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹² the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹³ the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁴ the seventh to Jesharelah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁵ the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁶ the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁷ the tenth to Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁸ the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ¹⁹ the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁰ for the thirteenth, Shubael, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²¹ for the fourteenth, Mattithiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²² for the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²³ for the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁴ for the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁵ for the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons and his brothers, twelve; ²⁶ for the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve;

² And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of Jehovah.

⁸ Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites and all those who came out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began. And they appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Jehovah.

¹ Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests and they built the sheep gate. They made it holy and set up the doors of it, even to the Tower of Hundred they made it holy, to the Tower of Hananel.
² And next to him the men of Jericho built.
And next to them Zaccur the son of Imri built.
³ And the sons of Hassenaah built the fish gate. They laid the beams of it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it.
⁴ And next to them Meremoth the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz repaired.
And next to them Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel repaired.
And next to them Zadok the son of Baana repaired.
⁵ And next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their ranking men did not put their necks to the work of their lord.
⁶ And the old gate Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired. They laid the beams of it and set up the doors of it and the bolts of it and the bars of it.
⁷ And next to them Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, who pertained to the throne of the governor beyond the River, repaired. ⁸ Next to him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, repaired.
And next to him Hananiah one of the perfumers repaired. And they fortified Jerusalem even to the broad wall.
⁹ And next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, repaired.
¹⁰ And next to them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, repaired opposite his house.
And next to him Hattush the son of Hashabneiah repaired.
¹¹ Malchijah the son of Harim and Hasshub the son of Pahath-moab, repaired another portion and the tower of the furnaces.
¹² And next to him Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, repaired, he and his daughters.
¹³ Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah, repaired the valley gate. They built it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it and a thousand cubits of the wall to the manure gate.
¹⁴ And Malchijah the son of Rechab, the ruler of the district of Beth-haccherem, repaired the manure gate. He built it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it.
¹⁵ And Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired the fountain gate. He built it and covered it and set up the doors of it, the bolts of it and the bars of it and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, even to the stairs that go down from the city of David.
¹⁶ After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of half the district of Beth-zur, repaired to the place opposite the sepulchers of David and to the pool that was made and to the house of the mighty men.
¹⁷ After him the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani, repaired.
Next to him Hashabiah, the ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired for his district.
¹⁸ After him their brothers, Bavvai the son of Henadad, the ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired.
¹⁹ And next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, repaired another portion opposite the ascent to the armory at the turning of the wall.
²⁰ After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired another portion, from the turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
²¹ After him Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz repaired another portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.
²² And after him the priests, the men of the Plain, repaired. ²³ After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house.
After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house.
²⁴ After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired another portion, from the house of Azariah to the turning of the wall and to the corner.
²⁵ Palal the son of Uzai repaired opposite the turning of the wall and the tower that stands out from the upper house of the king, which is by the court of the guard.
After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh repaired.
²⁶ (Now the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel, to the place opposite the water gate toward the east and the tower that stands out.) ²⁷ After him the Tekoites repaired another portion, opposite the great tower that stands out and to the wall of Ophel.
²⁸ The priests repaired above the horse gate, every man opposite his own house.
²⁹ After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired opposite his own house.
And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east gate, repaired.
³⁰ After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another portion.
After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired opposite his chamber.
³¹ After him Malchijah one of the goldsmiths to the house of the Nethinim and of the merchants, repaired opposite the Gate of Miphkad and to the ascent of the corner.
³² And between the ascent of the corner and the sheep gate the goldsmiths and the merchants repaired.

¹ Now it happened, when it was reported to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our enemies, that I had built the wall and that there was no breach left in it, (though even to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),

¹⁵ So the wall was finished in the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.

³⁹ For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi will bring the heave offering of the grain, of the new wine and of the oil, to the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary and the priests that minister and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

³ Now these are the chiefs of the province who dwelt in Jerusalem. But in the cities of Judah everyone dwells in his possession in their cities, namely, Israel, the priests and the Levites and the Nethinim and the sons of Solomon's servants.

²⁴ And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch.

¹⁸ And Joseph said to them the third day, Do this and live, because I fear God.

²¹ Moreover you will provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating unjust gain and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties and rulers of tens,

⁷ My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house.

³ The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me. He who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,

³ And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Jehovah greatly;

¹² And it will happen, as soon as I have gone from you, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry you where I do not know. And so when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I your servant fear Jehovah from my youth.

² that Hanani, one of my brothers, came, he and certain men out of Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, that were left of the captivity and concerning Jerusalem.

⁸ and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the castle which is for the palace and for the wall of the city and for the house that I will enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

¹⁵ But the former governors who were before me charged the people and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people. But I did not so, because of the fear of God.

²³ Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub,

¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest and Zadok the scribe and of the Levites, Pedaiah and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah. For they were counted faithful and their business was to distribute to their brothers.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job and that man was perfect and upright and one who feared God and turned away from evil.

⁶ My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me.

⁵ Jehovah is exalted, for he dwells on high. He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. ⁶ And there will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom and knowledge. The fear of Jehovah is your treasure.

⁴ Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could find no occasion nor fault, inasmuch as he was faithful, nor was there any error or fault found in him.

⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent bondservant, whom his lord has designated over his bondservants, to give them their nourishment in season?

²¹ But his lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful bondservant. You were over a few things, I will be designating you over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.

¹⁰ The faithful in the least matters is also faithful in much, and the unrighteous in the least matters is also unrighteous in much. ¹¹ Therefore, if you have not become faithful in the unrighteous money, who will be entrusting the true riches to you? ¹² And if you have not become faithful in what is another’s, who will be giving you what is yours?

² But furthermore, it is required in stewards, in order that someone should be found faithful.

² And the things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, consign these to faithful men, who will also be competent to teach others.

²³ After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house.
After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house.

²⁸ The priests repaired above the horse gate, every man opposite his own house.
²⁹ After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired opposite his own house.
And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east gate, repaired.
³⁰ After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another portion.
After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired opposite his chamber.

¹⁹ And it happened that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and commanded that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. And I set some of my servants over the gates that there should be no burden brought in on the Sabbath day.

¹ Unless Jehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Jehovah guards the city, the watchman wake but in vain.

¹⁶ Behold, I am sending you forth like sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore, become prudent like serpents and harmless like doves.

¹² And those who will be of you will build the old waste places. You will raise up the foundations of generations and generations and you will be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

⁴ Is it a time for you* yourselves to dwell in your* paneled houses while this house lies waste?
⁵ Now therefore Jehovah of hosts says thus: Consider your* ways. ⁶ You* have sown much and bring in little. You* eat, but you* have not enough. You* drink, but you* are not filled with drink. You* clothe yourselves, but there is none warm. And he who earns wages earns wages to put into a bag with holes.

³³ But first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

¹ So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies. And behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. And Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their transgression.
² Now the first inhabitants who dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israelites, the priests, the Levites and the Nethinim.
³ And in Jerusalem dwelt of the sons of Judah and of the sons of Benjamin and of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh: ⁴ Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the sons of Perez the son of Judah. ⁵ And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons. ⁶ And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brothers, six hundred and ninety.
⁷ And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, ⁸ and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah, ⁹ and their brothers, according to their genealogy, nine hundred and fifty-six.
All these men were heads of fathers by their fathers' houses.

⁶² These sought their registration among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found. Therefore they were deemed polluted and put away from the priesthood.

²⁷ Praise Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem,

¹⁹ Remember to me, O my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.

¹⁴ Remember, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works and also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets, who would have put me in fear.

¹⁰ But I am what I am by the grace of God and his grace toward me has not become empty, but I labored even-more than they all did; but not I, but the grace of God which was together with me.

⁵ not that we are sufficient from ourselves, to reason anything as out of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God;

¹⁶ But gratitude is to God, who is giving the same diligent-aid into the heart of Titus on your behalf.

¹² So-then my beloved, just-as you have always obeyed, not only as in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. ¹³ For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work, on behalf of his delight.

²⁹ for which I also labor, struggling according to his working, which works in power in me.

¹⁶ Do not be misled, my beloved brethren!

¹⁴ And he carried away all Jerusalem and all the rulers and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives and all the craftsmen and the blacksmiths. None remained except the poorest sort of the people of the land.
¹⁵ And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon. And the king's mother and the king's wives and his officers and the chief men of the land, he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. ¹⁶ And all the men of might, even seven thousand and the craftsmen and the blacksmiths a thousand, all of them strong and able for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

¹¹ And the remnant of the people that were left in the city and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon and the remnant of the multitude, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive.

¹ Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem. ² Joahaz was twenty-threeyears old when he began to reign and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
³ And the King of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem and fined the land a hundred talants of silver and a talant of gold. ⁴ And the King of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Neco took Joahaz his brother and carried him to Egypt.
⁵ Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God.
⁶ Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him and bound him in fetters to carry him to Babylon. ⁷ Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of Jehovah to Babylon and put them in his temple at Babylon.
⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and his abominations which he did and what was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son reigned instead of him.
⁹ Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah. ¹⁰ And at the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Jehovah and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
¹¹ Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. ¹² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of Jehovah.
¹³ And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. But he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to Jehovah, the God of Israel. ¹⁴ Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of Jehovah which he had made holy in Jerusalem.
¹⁵ And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling-place. ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
¹⁷ Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion upon young man or virgin, old man or hoary-headed. He gave them all into his hand. ¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small and the treasures of the house of Jehovah and the treasures of the king and of his rulers, all these he brought to Babylon.
¹⁹ And they burnt the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem and burnt all the palaces of it with fire and destroyed all the good vessels of it.
²⁰ And those who had escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia, ²¹ to fulfill the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths; as long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
²² Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying, ²³ Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth has Jehovah, the God of heaven, given me. And he has charged me to build a house for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you* of all his people, Jehovah his God be with him and let him go up.

¹ Now these are the sons of the province who went up out of the captivity of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, every man to his city, ² who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah.

⁵⁵ The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda, ⁵⁶ the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel, ⁵⁷ the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.
⁵⁸ All the Nethinim and the sons of Solomon's servants were three hundred ninety-two.
⁵⁹ And these were those who went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not show their fathers' houses and their seed, whether they were of Israel: ⁶⁰ the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
⁶¹ And of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called after their name. ⁶² These sought their registration among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found. Therefore they were deemed polluted and put away from the priesthood. ⁶³ And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
⁶⁴ The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty, ⁶⁵ besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And they had two hundred singing men and singing women. ⁶⁶ Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six, their mules, two hundred forty-five, ⁶⁷ their camels, four hundred thirty-five, their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
⁶⁸ And some of the heads of fathers, when they came to the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God to set it up in its place. ⁶⁹ They gave after their ability into the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand 128-grain weights of gold and five thousand pounds of silver and one hundred priests' garments.
⁷⁰ So the priests and the Levites and some of the people and the singers and the gatekeepers and the Nethinim, dwelt in their cities and all Israel in their cities.

⁸ Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones and timber is laid in the walls. And this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.

² And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of Media, a roll and in it was thus written for a record:

¹ And it happened when Jerusalem was taken, in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it. ² In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.
³ And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the middle gate, that is, Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.
⁴ And it happened that, when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls and he went out toward the Arabah.
⁵ But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath and he gave judgment upon him.
⁶ Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes. Also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah. ⁷ Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes and bound him in fetters to carry him to Babylon.
⁸ And the Chaldeans burned the king's house and the houses of the people, with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem. ⁹ Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the residue of the people that remained in the city, the deserters also that fell away to him and the residue of the people that remained.
¹⁰ But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, that had nothing, in the land of Judah and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
¹¹ Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying, ¹² Take him and look well to him and do him no harm, but do to him even as he will say to you.
¹³ So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent and Nebushazban, Rab-saris and Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon. ¹⁴ And they sent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home. So he dwelt among the people.
¹⁵ Now the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying, ¹⁶ Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil and not for good and they will be accomplished before you in that day.
¹⁷ But I will deliver you in that day, says Jehovah and you will not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. ¹⁸ For I will surely save you and you will not fall by the sword, but your life will be for a prey to you, because you have put your trust in me, says Jehovah.

¹ Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. ² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. ³ For it happened through the anger of Jehovah, in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
⁴ And it happened in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army against Jerusalem and encamped against it. And they built forts against it all around. ⁵ So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. ⁶ In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
⁷ Then a breach was made in the city and all the men of war fled and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden, (now the Chaldeans were against the city all around) and they went toward the Arabah. ⁸ But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho and all his army was scattered from him.

¹² Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem. ¹³ And he burned the house of Jehovah and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem. Even every great house, he burned with fire. ¹⁴ And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.
¹⁵ Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the poorest of the people and the residue of the people who were left in the city and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon and the residue of the multitude. ¹⁶ But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vine-dressers and farmer.
¹⁷ And the pillars of brass that were in the house of Jehovah and the bases and the brazen sea that were in the house of Jehovah, the Chaldeans broke in pieces and carried all the brass of them to Babylon. ¹⁸ The pots also and the shovels and the snuffers and the basins and the spoons and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered, they took away. ¹⁹ And the cups and the censors and the basins and the pots and the lamp-stands and the spoons and the bowls–what was from gold, in gold and what was from silver, in silver–the captain of the guard took away.
²⁰ The two pillars, the one sea and the twelve brazen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made for the house of Jehovah–the brass of all these vessels was without weight. ²¹ And as for the pillars, the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits and a line of twelve cubits encompassed it and the thickness of it was four fingers; it was hollow. ²² And a capital of brass was upon it. And the height of the one capital was five cubits, with lattice-work and pomegranates upon the capital all around, all of brass. And the second pillar also had like these and pomegranates. ²³ And there were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides. All the pomegranates were a hundred upon the lattice-work all around.
²⁴ And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest and the three keepers of the threshold. ²⁵ And from the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war and seven men of those who saw the king's face, who were found in the city and the scribe of the captain of the army who mustered the people of the land and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city.
²⁶ And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. ²⁷ And the king of Babylon killed* them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.
²⁸ This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: In the seventh year three thousand twenty-three Jews. ²⁹ In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty-two persons. ³⁰ In the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty-five persons. All the persons were four thousand six hundred.
³¹ And it happened in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him forth out of prison.
³² And he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon, ³³ and changed his prison garments. And he ate bread before him continually all the days of his life. ³⁴ And for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

The number of the men of the people of Israel:

⁸ Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites and all those who came out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began. And they appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Jehovah.
⁹ Then Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, stood together to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.

² Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, rose up and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.

² And the king said to me, Why is your countenance sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very much afraid.

¹ Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

³ Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,

⁷ Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua.

¹⁰ And Jeshua fathered Joiakim and Joiakim fathered Eliashib and Eliashib fathered Joiada,

¹¹ And their faces and their wings were separate above, two wings of each one were joined one to another and two covered their bodies.

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

¹ And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the messenger of Jehovah and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary. ² And Jehovah said to Satan, Jehovah rebuke you, O Satan. Yes, Jehovah who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Is this not a brand plucked out of the fire?
³ Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and was standing before the messenger.

¹² And after the exile of Babylon, Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel; and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel; ¹³ and Zerubbabel fathered Abiud; and Abiud fathered Eliakim; and Eliakim fathered Azor;

³ The sons of Parosh, two thousand a hundred seventy-two.

³ of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males a hundred and fifty;

¹⁸ For there were many in Judah sworn to him because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah and his son Jehohanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah as a wife.

⁴ And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah and Shema and Anaiah and Uriah and Hilkiah and Maaseiah, on his right hand and on his left hand, Pedaiah and Mishael and Malchijah and Hashum and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

⁵ And the Philistines assembled themselves together to fight with Israel: thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen and people as the sand which is on the sea-shore in multitude. And they came up and encamped in Michmash, eastward of Beth-aven.

²³ And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.

²⁷ The men of Michmas, a hundred twenty-two.

²⁸ He has come to Aiah. He has passed through Migron. At Michmash he lays up his baggage.

⁹ And Joshua sent them forth and they went to the ambush and abode between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai, but Joshua lodged that night among the people.

¹⁷ And there was not a man left in Ai or Bethel who did not go out after Israel. And they left the city open and pursued after Israel.

⁷ Now the first lot came out to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah, ⁸ the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim, ⁹ the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin, ¹⁰ the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah, ¹¹ the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah, ¹² the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim, ¹³ the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab, ¹⁴ the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer, ¹⁵ the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez, ¹⁶ the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel, ¹⁷ the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul, ¹⁸ the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
¹⁹ This was the ordering of them in their service, to come into the house of Jehovah according to the ordinance given to them by Aaron their father, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, had commanded him.

¹ For the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph. ² And Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, ³ Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
⁴ And Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third and Sacar the fourth and Nethanel the fifth, ⁵ Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth, for God blessed him. ⁶ Also sons were born to Shemaiah his son, who ruled over the house of their father, for they were mighty men of valor. ⁷ The sons of Shemaiah: Othni and Rephael and Obed, Elzabad, whose brothers were valiant men, Elihu and Semachiah. ⁸ All these were of the sons of Obed-edom, they and their sons and their brothers, able men in strength for the service, sixty-two of Obed-edom.
⁹ And Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, valiant men, eighteen. ¹⁰ Also Hosah, of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him chief), ¹¹ Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah were thirteen.
¹² Of these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, even of the chief men, having offices like their brothers to minister in the house of Jehovah. ¹³ And they cast lots, the small as well as the great, according to their fathers' houses for every gate.
¹⁴ And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a discreet counselor, they cast lots and his lot came out northward. ¹⁵ To Obed-edom southward and to his sons the store-house. ¹⁶ To Shuppim and Hosah westward, by the Gate of Shallecheth, at the causeway that goes up, watch against watch. ¹⁷ Eastward were six Levites, four a day northward, four a day southward and for the store-house two by two. ¹⁸ For Parbar westward, four at the highway and two at Parbar.
¹⁹ These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, of the sons of the Korahites and of the sons of Merari.
²⁰ And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God and over the treasures of the dedicated things. ²¹ The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the fathers belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli. ²² The sons of Jehieli: Zetham and Joel his brother, over the treasures of the house of Jehovah. ²³ Of the Amramites, of the Izharites, of the Hebronites, of the Uzzielites: ²⁴ Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler over the treasures. ²⁵ And his brothers: of Eliezer came Rehabiah his son and Jeshaiah his son and Joram his son and Zichri his son and Shelomoth his son.
²⁶ This Shelomoth and his brothers were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king and the heads of the fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds and the captains of the army, had dedicated. ²⁷ They dedicated to repair the house of Jehovah out of the spoil won in battles. ²⁸ And all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated, whoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomoth and of his brothers.
²⁹ Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outer business over Israel, for officers and judges.
³⁰ Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, men of valor, a thousand and seven hundred, had the oversight of Israel beyond the Jordan westward, for all the business of Jehovah and for the service of the king. ³¹ Of the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even of the Hebronites, according to their genealogy by fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for and there were found among them mighty men of valor at Jazer of Gilead. ³² And his brothers, men of valor, were two thousand and seven hundred, heads of fathers, whom king David made overseers over the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites, for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.

⁴² The sons of the gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of Hatita, the sons of Shobai, in all a hundred thirty-nine.

² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, When a man will accomplish a vow, the persons will be for Jehovah by your estimation. ³ And your estimation will be of the male from twenty years old even to sixty years old, even your estimation will be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. ⁴ And if it is a female, then your estimation will be thirty shekels. ⁵ And if it is from five years old even to twenty years old, then your estimation will be of the male twenty shekels and for the female ten shekels. ⁶ And if it is from a month old even to five years old, then your estimation will be of the male five shekels of silver and for the female your estimation will be three shekels of silver. ⁷ And if it is from sixty years old and upward, if it is a male, then your estimation will be fifteen shekels and for the female ten shekels. ⁸ But if he is poorer than your estimation, then he will be set before the priest and the priest will value him; according to the ability of him who vowed will the priest value him.

²³ Now therefore you* are cursed and there will never fail to be bondmen of you*, both hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.
²⁴ And they answered Joshua and said, Because it was certainly told your servants, how that Jehovah your God commanded his servant Moses to give you* all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you*. Therefore we were very afraid for our lives because of you* and have done this thing. ²⁵ And now, behold, we are in your hand. As it seems good and right to you to do to us, do. ²⁶ And so he did to them and delivered them out of the hand of the sons of Israel, that they did not kill them. ²⁷ And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of Jehovah to this day in the place which he should choose.

² Now the first inhabitants who dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israelites, the priests, the Levites and the Nethinim.

⁴³ The Nethinim : the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁴ the sons of Keros, the sons of Siaha the sons of Padon, ⁴⁵ the sons of Lebanah, the sons of Hagabah, the sons of Akkub, ⁴⁶ the sons of Hagab, the sons of Shamlai, the sons of Hanan,

⁴⁹ the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah, the sons of Besai, ⁵⁰ the sons of Asnah, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephisim,

⁵² the sons of Bazluth, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha, ⁵³ the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,

⁵⁵ The sons of Solomon's servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda, ⁵⁶ the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel, ⁵⁷ the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.
⁵⁸ All the Nethinim and the sons of Solomon's servants were three hundred ninety-two.
⁵⁹ And these were those who went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not show their fathers' houses and their seed, whether they were of Israel: ⁶⁰ the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.

²⁷ And it happened, when David came to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the sons of Ammon and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,

³¹ And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim. And he went over the Jordan with the king to conduct him over the Jordan. ³² Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old. And he had provided the king with sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim, for he was a very great man of wealth. ³³ And the king said to Barzillai, You come over with me and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem.

⁷ But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite and let them be of those who eat at your table, for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom your brother.

⁶¹ And of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called after their name. ⁶² These sought their registration among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found. Therefore they were deemed polluted and put away from the priesthood. ⁶³ And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

³ if the anointed priest will sin so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer for his sin, which he has sinned, a young bullock without blemish to Jehovah for a sin offering.

¹ So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies. And behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. And Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their transgression.

⁵ And my God put into my heart to gather together the ranking men and the rulers and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first. And I found written in it:

²⁹ Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.

¹¹ But when the king came in to look at those reclining at the table, he saw a man there who has not clothed himself in wedding attire; ¹² and he says to him, Comrade, how did you come in here not having on your wedding attire? Now he was dumbfounded. ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, When you bind him hand and foot, take him away and cast him out into the outer darkness–the weeping and the gnashing of teeth will be there.

¹¹ Later the rest of the virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. ¹² But he answered and said, Assuredly I am saying to you, I do not know you.

³⁰ And you will put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim and they will be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goes in before Jehovah. And Aaron will bear the judgment of the sons of Israel upon his heart before Jehovah continually.

³ And what is left of the meal offering will be Aaron's and his sons'. It is a thing most holy of the offerings of Jehovah made by fire.

And as for the flesh, every clean man will eat of it, ²⁰ but the soul that eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain to Jehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul will be cut off from his people.

¹⁷ Why have you* not eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, seeing it is most holy and he has given it to you* to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Jehovah? ¹⁸ Behold, the blood of it was not brought into the sanctuary inside. You* should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.

²¹ No man of the seed of Aaron the priest, who has a blemish, will come near to offer the offerings of Jehovah made by fire; he has a blemish, he will not come near to offer the bread of his God. ²² He will eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy, ²³ only he will not go in to the veil, nor come near to the altar, because he has a blemish, that he not profane my sanctuaries, for I am Jehovah who sanctifies them.

²¹ And he will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah. At his word will they go out and at his word they will come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

⁸ And of Levi he said, Your Thummim and your Urim are with your holy man, whom you proved at Massah, with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah,

⁶³ And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

⁹ And Nehemiah, who was the governor and Ezra the priest the scribe and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your* God; do not mourn nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.

¹ Now those who sealed were: Nehemiah the governor, the son of Hacaliah and Zedekiah,

⁶⁴ The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty, ⁶⁵ besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And they had two hundred singing men and singing women.

¹ Jehovah says thus to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him. And I will loose the loins of kings to open the doors before him. And the gates will not be shut. ² I will go before you and make the rough places smooth. I will break in pieces the doors of brass and cut apart the bars of iron.

⁷ And all the nations will serve him and his son and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings will make him their bondman.

⁶⁶ Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six, their mules, two hundred forty-five, ⁶⁷ their camels, four hundred thirty-five, their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

²² And you* will take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin and daub the lintel and the two side-posts with the blood that is in the basin and none of you* will go out of the door of his house until the morning.

⁶ And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

² Then the rulers of Israel, the heads of their fathers' houses, offered. These were the rulers of the tribes. These are those who were over those who were numbered. ³ And they brought their oblation before Jehovah: six covered wagons and twelve oxen; a wagon for every two of the rulers and for each one an ox. And they presented them before the tabernacle.
⁴ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ⁵ Take it from them, that they may be used in doing the service of the tent of meeting. And you will give them to the Levites, to every man according to his service. ⁶ And Moses took the wagons and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. ⁷ Two wagons and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon, according to their service. ⁸ And he gave four wagons and eight oxen to the sons of Merari, according to their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. ⁹ But he gave none to the sons of Kohath, because the service of the sanctuary belonged to them. They bore it upon their shoulders.
¹⁰ And the rulers offered for the dedication of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the rulers offered their oblation before the altar. ¹¹ And Jehovah said to Moses, They will offer their oblation, each ruler on his day, for the dedication of the altar.
¹² And he who offered his oblation the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah. ¹³ And his oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ¹⁴ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ¹⁵ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ¹⁶ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ¹⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
¹⁸ On the second day Nethanel the son of Zuar, ruler of Issachar, offered. ¹⁹ He offered for his oblation one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ²⁰ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ²¹ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ²² one male of the goats for a sin offering; ²³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Nethanel the son of Zuar.
²⁴ On the third day was Eliab the son of Helon, ruler of the sons of Zebulun. ²⁵ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ²⁶ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ²⁷ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ²⁸ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ²⁹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Eliab the son of Helon.
³⁰ On the fourth day was Elizur the son of Shedeur, ruler of the sons of Reuben. ³¹ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ³² one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ³³ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ³⁴ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ³⁵ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Elizur the son of Shedeur.
³⁶ On the fifth day was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, ruler of the sons of Simeon. ³⁷ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ³⁸ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ³⁹ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁴⁰ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁴¹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
⁴² On the sixth day was Eliasaph the son of Deuel, ruler of the sons of Gad. ⁴³ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁴⁴ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁴⁵ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁴⁶ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁴⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
⁴⁸ On the seventh day was Elishama the son of Ammihud, ruler of the sons of Ephraim. ⁴⁹ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁵⁰ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁵¹ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁵² one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁵³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Elishama the son of Ammihud.
⁵⁴ On the eighth day was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, ruler of the sons of Manasseh. ⁵⁵ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁵⁶ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁵⁷ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁵⁸ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁵⁹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
⁶⁰ On the ninth day was Abidan the son of Gideoni, ruler of the sons of Benjamin. ⁶¹ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁶² one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁶³ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁶⁴ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁶⁵ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Abidan the son of Gideoni.
⁶⁶ On the tenth day was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, ruler of the sons of Dan. ⁶⁷ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁶⁸ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁶⁹ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁷⁰ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁷¹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. ⁷² On the eleventh day was Pagiel the son of Ochran, ruler of the sons of Asher. ⁷³ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁷⁴ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁷⁵ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁷⁶ one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁷⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Pagiel the son of Ochran.
⁷⁸ On the twelfth day was Ahira the son of Enan, ruler of the sons of Naphtali. ⁷⁹ His oblation was one silver platter, the weight of which was a hundred a thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meal offering; ⁸⁰ one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense; ⁸¹ one young bullock, one ram, one male-lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; ⁸² one male of the goats for a sin offering; ⁸³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male-goats, five male-lambs a year old. This was the oblation of Ahira the son of Enan.
⁸⁴ This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the rulers of Israel: twelve silver platters, twelve silver bowls, twelve golden spoons, ⁸⁵ each silver platter weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and each bowl seventy. All the silver of the vessels was two thousand and four hundred shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. ⁸⁶ The twelve golden spoons, full of incense, weighed ten shekels apiece, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. All the gold of the spoons was a hundred and twenty shekels.

⁴⁵ and the pots and the shovels and the bowls. And all these vessels, which Hiram made for king Solomon in the house of Jehovah were of burnished brass.

¹⁷ and the forks and the basins and the cups, of pure gold and for the golden bowls by weight for every bowl and for the silver bowls by weight for every bowl,

³ Moreover also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, ⁴ even three thousand talants of gold, of the gold of Ophir and seven thousand talants of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses, ⁵ of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself this day to Jehovah?
⁶ Then the rulers of the fathers and the rulers of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king's work, offered willingly. ⁷ And they gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talants and ten thousand 128-grain weights and of silver ten thousand talants and of brass eighteen thousand talants and of iron a hundred thousand talants. ⁸ And those with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of Jehovah under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
⁹ Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah.
And David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

⁸ He made also ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left. And he made a hundred basins of gold.

¹¹ And Huram made the pots and the shovels and the basins. So Huram made an end of doing the work that he worked for king Solomon in the house of God:

⁶⁵ And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

¹⁹ And the cups and the censors and the basins and the pots and the lamp-stands and the spoons and the bowls–what was from gold, in gold and what was from silver, in silver–the captain of the guard took away.

¹⁹ who does not respect the persons of rulers, nor regards the rich more than the poor. For they all are the work of his hands.

¹ Now he looked up and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. ² But he also saw a certain poor widow casting two bronze-coins in there. ³ And he said, Truly I say to you, This poor widow cast in more-than they all. ⁴ For all these cast into the gifts of God out of what is abounding to them, but she cast in out of her lacking, all the livelihood that she had.

¹² For if the eagerness lays before you, according to whatever someone has, it is acceptable, not according to what he does not have.

⁷⁰ So the priests and the Levites and some of the people and the singers and the gatekeepers and the Nethinim, dwelt in their cities and all Israel in their cities.
