Proverbs Cross References - MLV

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, King of Israel, 2 to know wisdom and instruction, to discern the words of understanding, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness and justice and uprightness, 4 to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion, 5 that the wise man may hear and increase in learning and that the man of understanding may attain to sound-wisdom, 6 to understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their dark sayings.
7 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge. The foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
8 My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not forsake the law of your mother. 9 Because they will be a wreath of charm to your head and chains about your neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. 11 If they say, Come with us. Let us lay wait for blood. Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause. 12 Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol and whole, as those who go down into the pit. 13 We will find all precious substance. We will fill our houses with spoil. 14 You will cast your lot among us. We will all have one bag.
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them. Restrain your foot from their path. 16 Because their feet run to evil and they make haste to shed blood. 17 Because the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird, 18 and these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.

24 Because I have called and you* have refused, I have stretched out my hand and no man has regarded, 25 but you* have made all my counsel void and want none of my reproof, 26 I also will laugh at your* calamity. I will mock when your* fear comes, 27 when your* fear comes as a storm and your* calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you*.
28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me, 29 because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of Jehovah.
30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices.
32 Because the backsliding of the simple will kill them and the careless ease of fools will destroy them.

Deuteronomy 32:15-44

15 But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he forsook God who made him and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. 16 They moved him to jealousy with strange gods. With abominations they provoked him to anger.
17 They sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods that they did not know, to new gods that came up of late, which your* fathers did not dread. 18 You are unmindful of the Rock that fathered you and have forgotten God who gave you birth.
19 And Jehovah saw and despised, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be. For they are a very perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with what is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities and I will move them to jealousy with a non-nation. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 For a fire is kindled in my anger and burns to the lowest Sheol and devours the earth with its increase and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap evils upon them. I will spend my arrows upon them, 24 to be wasted with hunger and devoured with burning heat and bitter destruction. And I will send upon them the teeth of beasts, with the poison of crawling things of the dust. 25 Outside the sword will bereave and in the chambers terror, to both young man and virgin, the nursing-baby with the man of gray hairs.
26 I said, I would scatter them afar, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men, 27 were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should recognize, lest they should say, Our hand is exalted and Jehovah has not done all this. 28 For they are a nation void of counsel and there is no understanding in them.
29 Oh that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! 30 How should one chase a thousand and two put ten thousand to flight unless their Rock had sold them and Jehovah had delivered them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom and of the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter. 33 Their wine is the poison of serpents and the cruel venom of adders. 34 Is not this laid up in store with me, sealed up among my treasures?
35 Vengeance is for me and recompense at the time when their foot will slip. For the day of their calamity is at hand and the things that are to come upon them will make haste. 36 For Jehovah will judge his people and regrets for his servants, when he sees that their power has gone and there is none remaining, shut up or left at large.
37 And he will say, Where are their gods, the rock in which they took refuge, 38 which ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you*, let them be your* protection.
39 See now that I, even I, am he and there is no god with me. I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal. And there is none that can deliver out of my hand. 40 For I lift up my hand to heaven and say, As I live everlasting, 41 if I flash my glittering sword and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to my adversaries and will recompense those who hate me. 42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood and my sword will devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the head of the leaders of the enemy. 43 Rejoice, O you* Gentiles, with his people. For he will avenge the blood of his servants and will render vengeance to his adversaries and will recompense those who hate him and will make expiation for his land, for his people.

And I will be gathering together there, all my fruits of labor and my good things. 19 And I will be saying to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years; rest yourself, eat, drink, and be joyous.

But even the dogs, coming to him, were licking his sores. 22 Now it happened, that the poor man died and that he was carried away by the messengers into Abraham’s bosom, and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 And in Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and he sees Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And having shouted, he said, Father Abraham, show-mercy to me, and send Lazarus in order that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and may cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Child, remember that you received your good things in your life and Lazarus likewise evil things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.

We were counted as sheep of the slaughter.’ 37 But we are victorious in all these things through the one who loved us. 38 For I have confidence, that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor present things, nor future things, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor some other created thing, will be able to separate us away from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
