¹ A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
² The rich and the poor meet together. Jehovah is the maker of them all.
³ A prudent man sees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and suffer for it.
⁴ The reward of humility and the fear of Jehovah is riches and honor and life.
⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of a perverse man. He who keeps his soul will be far from them.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.
¹⁶ He who oppresses a poor man to his increase and he who gives to a rich man, comes only to want.
¹⁷ Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise and apply your heart to my knowledge. ¹⁸ Because it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you, if they are established together upon your lips.
¹⁹ That your trust may be in Jehovah, I have made them known to you this day, even to you.
²⁰ Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge, ²¹ to make you know the certainty of the words of truth, that you may carry back words of truth to those who send you?
²² Do not rob a poor man, because he is poor, nor oppress an afflicted man in the gate. ²³ Because Jehovah will plead their cause and despoil of life those who despoil them.
²⁴ Make no friendship with a man who is given to anger and you will not go with a wrathful man, ²⁵ lest you learn this ways and get a snare for your soul.
²⁶ Be not one of those who strike hands, or of those who are sureties for debts. ²⁷ If you have not wherewith to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?
²⁸ Do not remove the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.
²⁹ See a man diligent in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before insignificant men.

⁴⁷ And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, Your God make the name of Solomon better than your name and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.

¹ A good name is better than precious oil and the day of death, than the day of birth.

²⁰ However, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in the heavens.

¹⁰ and liberated him from all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom in front of Pharaoh king of Egypt, who designated him leader over Egypt and his whole house.

³ Yes, I am also requesting you, genuine colleague, help these women, who contended together with me in the good-news, also with Clement, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

³⁹ And all these, having been testified of through the faith,
did not get the promise,

⁷ Jehovah makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.

¹⁵ Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?

¹⁹ who does not respect the persons of rulers, nor regards the rich more than the poor. For they all are the work of his hands.

¹ Hear this, all you* peoples. Listen, all you* inhabitants of the world, ² both low and high, rich and poor together.

³¹ He who oppresses a poor man reproaches his maker, but he who has mercy on a needy man honors him.

¹³ The poor man and the oppressor meet together. Jehovah enlightens the eyes of them both.

¹⁹ Now there was a certain rich man and he was clothing himself in purple and fine-linen, having been radiantly joyous daily. ²⁰ Now there was a certain poor man, Lazarus by name, who had been put at his gate, having been full of sores,

²¹ Now the eye is not able to say to the hand, I have no need of you; or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

² For if a man comes into your congregation with a gold ring, in bright apparel and if a poor person in filthy apparel also comes in, ³ you may have looked upon the one who is wearing the bright apparel and may have said to him, Sit here; good; and you may have said to the poor person, Stand there or sit here under my footstool. ⁴ And did you not discern among yourselves and then became judges from evil reasonings?
⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren. Did God not choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

²⁰ He who feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses. ²¹ And he who did not regard the word of Jehovah left his servants and his cattle in the field.

⁷ and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding

²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare. And he does not know that it is for his life.

¹⁶ And as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, ¹⁷ Stolen waters are sweet and bread in secret is pleasant.
¹⁸ But he does not know because the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

¹⁶ A wise man fears and departs from evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is confident.

¹² A prudent man sees the evil and hides himself. The simple pass on and suffer for it.

¹ He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck will suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

²⁰ Come, my people, enter you into your chambers and shut your doors around you. Hide yourself for a little moment until the indignation have passed over.
²¹ For, behold, Jehovah comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood and will no more cover her slain.

¹⁵ Therefore, whenever you behold the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let the one who is reading perceive),
¹⁶ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; ¹⁷ let the one who is upon the housetop not go down to take the things out of his house, ¹⁸ and let the one who is in the field not turn behind to take his garments.

² For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord so comes like a thief in the night. ³ For whenever they are saying, Peace and security; then sudden utter-destruction stands by them, just-like the travail a woman has in her womb, and they may never flee away from it. ⁴ But brethren, you are not in darkness, in order that the day might overtake you like a thief. ⁵ You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night, nor of darkness; ⁶ Therefore consequently, we should not sleep, like the rest also do, but let us watch and be sober.

¹⁸ in order that through two unchangeable matters, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge, to take-hold of the hope that lays before us.

⁷ In faith, Noah, having been divinely-warned concerning things not yet seen, and being scared, prepared an ark for the salvation of his house; through which he condemned the world and he became an heir of righteousness according to faith.

⁹ O fear Jehovah, you* his, holy ones, because there is no want to those who fear him.
¹⁰ The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek Jehovah will not want any good thing.

¹ Praise Jehovah. The man is fortunate who fears Jehovah, who delights greatly in his commandments. ² His seed will be mighty upon earth. The generation of the upright will be blessed.
³ Wealth and riches are in his house and his righteousness endures forever.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand are riches and honor.

²¹ He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness and honor.

⁶ And there will be stability in your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom and knowledge. The fear of Jehovah is your treasure.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, also with him who is of a crushed and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the crushed.

³³ But first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

⁸ for bodily exercise is profitable for few things, but godliness is profitable for all things, having the promise of life the current one and the future one.

⁶ But he is giving greater grace. Hence the Scripture says, ‘God resists the haughty, but gives grace to the humble.’

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will be exalting you.

¹³ know for a certainty that Jehovah your* God will no more drive these nations from out of your* sight, but they will be a snare and a trap to you* and a scourge in your* sides and thorns in your* eyes, until you* perish from this good land which Jehovah your* God has given you*.

⁸ For he is cast into a net by his own feet and he walks upon the toils.

⁶ He will rain snares upon sinners. Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.

²⁶ You will show yourself pure with the pure.And with the perverse you will show yourself contrary.
²⁷ Because you will save the afflicted people, but the haughty eyes you will bring down.

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty

³ He who guards his mouth keeps his life. He who opens wide his lips will have destruction.

¹⁵ Good understanding gives favor, but the way of the transgressor is hard.

¹⁹ The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is made a highway.

¹⁷ The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

¹⁶ He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul. He who is careless of his ways will die.

¹⁸ We know that everyone who has been born from God is not sinning, but he who was born from God guards himself and the evil one does not touch him.

²⁰ But you, beloved, keep building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
²¹ Keep yourselves in God’s love, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for everlasting life.

¹⁹ For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice, to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham what he has spoken of him.

⁹ Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life, but make them known to your sons and your son's sons–

⁷ And you will teach them diligently to your sons and will talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

²⁸ Therefore also I have granted him to Jehovah; as long as he lives he is granted to Jehovah. And he worshiped Jehovah there.

²⁶ And the child Samuel grew on and increased in favor both with Jehovah and also with men.

² And now, behold, the king walks before you*. And I am old and gray headed, and behold, my sons are with you*. And I have walked before you* from my youth to this day.
³ Here I am. Witness against me before Jehovah and before his anointed: Whose ox have I taken? Or whose donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or of whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? And I will restore it to you*.

³ which we have heard and known and our fathers have told us.
⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah and his strength and his wondrous works that he has done.
⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons, ⁶ that the generation to come might know, even the sons who should be born, who should arise and tell to their sons,

⁴ And the fathers, do not rouse your children to anger, but rear them in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

¹⁵ And you have known, that from a baby, the sacred Scriptures which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

¹ Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead and you know that your servant feared Jehovah and the creditor has come to take my two children to him to be bondmen.

⁴ There were also who said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute upon our fields and our vineyards. ⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our sons as their sons. And behold, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants and some of our daughters are brought into bondage already. Neither is it in our power to help it, for other men have our fields and our vineyards.

²³ A poor man uses entreaties, but a rich man answers roughly.

¹⁶ He who oppresses a poor man to his increase and he who gives to a rich man, comes only to want.

²² Do not rob a poor man, because he is poor, nor oppress an afflicted man in the gate.

² And it will be, as with the people, so with the priest, as with the servant, so with his master, as with the maid, so with her mistress, as with the buyer, so with the seller, as with the creditor, so with the debtor, as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him.

⁶ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes–

¹ Hear this word, you* cows of Bashan, who are in the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their lords, Bring and let us drink.

¹¹ Inasmuch therefore as you* trample upon the poor and take exactions of wheat from him. You* have built houses of hewn stone, but you* will not dwell in them. You* have planted pleasant vineyards, but you* will not drink the wine of it.
¹² For I know how great are your* transgressions and how mighty are your* sins–you* who afflict the just man, who take a bribe and who turn aside the needy in the gate.

⁴ Hear this, O you* who would swallow up a needy man and cause the poor of the land to fail,

⁶ that we may buy the poor for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes and sell the refuse of the wheat?

²⁵ But he did not have anything to repay him with, so his lord commanded him and his wife and children and all things, as many things as he was holding, to be sold and the money to be repaid to him.

⁶ But you have dishonored the poor. Are the rich not oppressing you? And are they themselves not dragging you into the courts?

¹ Come now you rich, weep, howling in your miseries, in those which are coming upon you.

⁴ Behold, the wages of the workers who mowed your farmlands, the wages which have been defrauded by you, are crying out against you and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

⁸ According to what I have seen, those who plow wickedness and sow trouble, reap the same.

³ Because the scepter of wickedness will not rest upon the lot of the righteous, that the righteous not put forth their hands to wickedness.

³ A rod of pride is in the mouth of a fool, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.

⁴ For the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.

⁵ Ho, Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation!

²⁹ Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that killed* you is broken. For out of the serpent's root will come out an adder and his fruit will be a fiery flying serpent.

³¹ For through the voice of Jehovah the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will kill* him with his rod.

⁷ For they sow the wind and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The blade will yield no meal. Perhaps it yields, strangers will swallow it up.

¹³ You* have plowed wickedness. You* have reaped unrighteousness. You* have eaten the fruit of lies. For you trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty men.

⁷ Do not be misled. God is not ridiculed; for whatever a man sows, he will also be reaping this thing. ⁸ Because he who is sowing to his own flesh will be reaping corruption from his flesh, but he who is sowing to the Spirit will be reaping everlasting life from the Spirit.

⁷ If there is with you a poor man, one of your brothers, within any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God gives you, you will not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother, ⁸ but you will surely open your hand to him and will surely lend him sufficient for his need which he wants.
⁹ Beware that there not be a worthless thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing and he cry to Jehovah against you and it is sin to you. ¹⁰ You will surely give him and your heart will not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing Jehovah your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.
¹¹ For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you, saying, You will surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and to your poor, in your land.

⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you*, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye will be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter,

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel alone and the fatherless has not eaten of it ¹⁸ (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father and her I have guided from my mother's womb); ¹⁹ if I have seen any perish for lack of clothing, or that the needy had no covering; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me and if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

¹ He who considers a poor man is fortunate. Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil. ² Jehovah will preserve him and keep him alive and he will be fortunate upon the earth. And you do not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
³ Jehovah will support him upon the bed of languishing. You will make all his bed in his sickness.

⁹ He has scattered, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

²⁵ The generous soul will be made prosperous and he who waters will also be watered himself.

¹⁷ He who has pity upon a poor man lends to Jehovah and he will repay him his good deed.

¹³ He who stops his ears at the cry of a poor man, he will also cry, but will not be heard.

¹ Cast your bread upon the waters, because you will find it after many days. ² Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight, because you do not know what evil will be upon the earth.

⁸ But a noble man devises noble things and in noble things he will continue.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to a hungry man and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house, when you see a naked man, that you cover him and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
⁸ Then your light will break forth as the morning and your healing will spring forth speedily. And your righteousness will go before you. The glory of Jehovah will be your rearward. ⁹ Then you will call and Jehovah will answer, you will cry and he will say, Here I am. If you take the yoke away from the midst of you, the putting forth of the finger and speaking wickedly, ¹⁰ and if you draw out your soul to a hungry man and satisfy an afflicted soul, then your light will rise in darkness and your obscurity be as the noonday.
¹¹ And Jehovah will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in dry places and make strong your bones. And you will be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not. ¹² And those who will be of you will build the old waste places. You will raise up the foundations of generations and generations and you will be called The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

¹⁵ Or is it not legal for me to do what I will in the things which are mine? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?

³⁴ Then the King will be saying to those at his right, Come-here, those who have been blessed from my Father, inherit the kingdom which has been prepared for you from the conception of the world: ³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you led me in; ³⁶ I was naked and you dressed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me.
³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and nourish you? Or thirsty and gave you a drink? ³⁸ But when did we see you as a stranger and lead you in? Or naked and dressed you? ³⁹ But when did we see you sick or in prison and came to you?
⁴⁰ And when the King answers, he will say to them, Assuredly I am saying to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of these, my brethren, even the least, you did it to me.

²² greedy-acts, wickednesses, treachery, unbridled-lusts, an evil eye, blasphemy, haughtiness, foolishness.

³⁵ However, love^*\'b0 your enemies and do good things for them and lend, hoping for nothing again. And your reward will be much, and you will be sons of the Highest, because he is kind toward the unthankful and evil. ³⁶ Therefore, become compassionate, just-as your Father is also compassionate.


³⁷ And do not judge and you may never be judged; do not sentence others and you may never be sentenced; release and you will be released. ³⁸ Give and it will be given to you; they will be giving good measure into your bosom, what has been packed-down and shaken together and pouring over. For with the same measure you measure, it will be measured to you again.

¹³ But whenever you make a banquet, invite the poor, the disabled, the lame, the blind;

³⁵ I showed to you an example in all things, that so laboring, it is essential to help the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more fortunate to give than to receive.

¹ Now brethren, we are making known to you the grace of God which has been given in the congregations of Macedonia; ² because the abundance of their joy in much trial of affliction and according to the depth of their poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.

⁶ But I say this, He who is sowing sparingly will also be reaping sparingly, and he who is sowing upon his bounties will also be reaping upon his bounties. ⁷ Let each man give just-as he proposes in his heart; not out of sorrow or out of necessity; for God loves a joyful giver. ⁸ Now God is able to make abound all grace toward you; in order that having all self-sufficiency in everything, you should always abound to every good work; ⁹ as it has been written, ‘He has scattered them, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.’ ¹⁰ Now he who is supplying seed to the sower and bread for food, may supply and may multiply your seed and may cause the growth of the fruits of your righteousness. ¹¹ You are enriched in everything to all liberality, which is working through us thanksgiving to God.

¹⁸ also command them to work what is good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in giving, generous, ¹⁹ storing up for themselves a good foundation toward the future, in order that they may grab the everlasting life.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the labor of the love which you showed toward his name, having served the holy-ones and still serving them.

¹⁶ But do not forget the practice of good and fellowship; for God is well pleased with such sacrifices.

⁹ Be hospitable to one another without murmurings;

⁹ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. ¹⁰ Therefore she said to Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son. For the son of this handmaid will not be heir with my son, that is with Isaac.

²⁸ And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. Therefore I chased him from me.

⁵ He who slanders his neighbor secretly, I will destroy him. He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not endure.

⁶ A fool's lips enter into contention and his mouth calls for stripes.

²⁴ The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name. He works in the arrogance of pride.

²⁰ For lack of wood the fire goes out and where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.
²¹ As coals are to hot embers and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to inflame strife.

¹⁷ But if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the congregation, and if he also refuses to hear the congregation, let him be just-like the Gentile and the tax collector to you.

⁵ to give such a one to the Adversary for the utter-destruction of the flesh, in order that the spirit might be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
⁶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole batch?

¹³ Now God will be judging those who are outside, and you will be taking away the evil man from among yourselves.

³⁹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Inasmuch as God has shown you all of this, there is none so discreet and wise as you. ⁴⁰ You will be over my house and according to your word all my people will be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you. ⁴¹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.
⁴² And Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it upon Joseph's hand and arrayed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. ⁴³ And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had and they cried before him, Bow the knee. ⁵⁰ And two sons were born to Joseph before the year of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah priest of On, bore to him. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, because God has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house. ⁵² And the name of the second he called Ephraim, because God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.
⁵³ And the seven years of plenty, that was in the land of Egypt, came to an end. ⁵⁴ And the seven years of famine began to come, just-as Joseph had said. And there was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. ⁵⁵ And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. And Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph; what he says to you*, do.
⁵⁶ And the famine was over all the face of the earth. And Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. ⁵⁷ And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe on all the earth.

⁶ this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah, the God of Israel, had given. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.
⁷ And some of the sons of Israel and of the priests and the Levites and the singers and the gatekeepers and the Nethinim, went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king. ⁸ And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. ⁹ For upon the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. ¹⁰ For Ezra had set his heart to seek the law of Jehovah and to do it and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.
¹¹ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah and of his statutes to Israel:

⁴ Then the king said to me, For what do you make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven. ⁵ And I said to the king, If it please the king and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it.
⁶ And the king said to me (the queen also sitting by him), For how long will your journey be? And when will you return? So it pleased the king to send me and I set him a time.

³ For Mordecai the Jew was next to king Ahasuerus and great among the Jews and accepted of the multitude of his brothers, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his seed.

² You are fairer than the sons of men. Favor is poured into your lips. Therefore God has blessed you everlasting.

⁶ My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me.

³⁵ The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath will be to him who causes shame.

¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings and they love he who speaks right.

⁴⁶ Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and worshiped Daniel and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors to him. ⁴⁷ The king answered to Daniel and said, Of a truth your* God is the God of gods and Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to reveal this secret.
⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel great and gave him many great gifts and made him to rule over the whole province of Babylon and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.
⁴⁹ And Daniel requested of the king and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon, but Daniel was in the gate of the king.

³⁰ Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in the province of Babylon.

²⁰ And when he came near to the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?
²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever. ²² My God has sent his messenger and has shut the lions' mouths and they have not hurt me, inasmuch as before him innocence was found in me. And also before you, O king, I have done no harm.
²³ Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no manner of harm was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God.

⁸ The clean in heart are fortunate, because they will be seeing God.

²² And all were testifying of him, and were marveling at the words of favor which traveled from his mouth, and they were saying, Is this not Joseph’s son?

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong to those whose heart is perfect toward him. In this you have done foolishly, for from hereafter you will have wars.

¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He takes the wise in their own craftiness and the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.

¹⁹ So they will fear the name of Jehovah from the west and his glory from the rising of the sun. For he will come as a rushing stream, which the breath of Jehovah drives. ²⁰ And he who redeems will come to Zion and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob, says Jehovah.
²¹ And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Jehovah: My Spirit that is upon you and my words which I have put in your mouth, will not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of your seed's seed, says Jehovah, from now and until everlasting.

¹⁶ Now Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said to him, You are fortunate, Simon, Son of Jonah, because flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father, the one in the heavens. ¹⁸ But I also say to you, that you are ^{F} Peter and upon this, the rock, I will be building my congregation of believers, and the gates of Hades will not be prevailing against her.

³⁹ but if it is from God, you will not be able to tear it down; lest you might be found even to be quarreling against God.

⁹ But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who was formerly in the city practicing-magic and astonishing the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was someone great. ¹⁰ To whom they were taking-heed, from the little to the great, saying, This one is the power of God, the Great. ¹¹ Now they were taking-heed to him because he had astonished them with his magic for a considerable time. ¹² But when they believed Philip proclaiming the good-news concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being immersed, both men and women.

²³ But instantly a messenger of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory and he expired, having become maggot-eaten.
²⁴ But the word of God was growing and being multiplied.

⁸ But Elymas the magician (for so is his name by translation) was standing against them, seeking to pervert the proconsul away from the faith. ⁹ But Saul, also called Paul, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, stared toward him, ¹⁰ and said, O full of all treachery and all villainy, you son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and will not see the sun till the next season. Now instantly dimness and darkness fell upon him, and going around, he was seeking someone to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then the proconsul believed, having seen what had happened, being astounded upon the teaching of the Lord.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will be consuming with the breath of his mouth and will be doing-away-with him by the appearing of his presence;

⁸ Now in the manner that Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses so also, are these standing against the truth. Men having been utterly corrupted in their mind, unapproved concerning the faith. ⁹ But they will be progressing no more-than this. For their mindlessness will be obvious to all people, as that of those men also became.

³ And I will be giving to my two witnesses and they will be prophesying one thousand two hundred and sixty days, having been dressed in sackcloth. ⁴ These are the two olive trees and the two lamp-stands, standing in the sight of the Lord of the earth. ⁵ And if anyone wishes to hurt them, fire travels out from their mouth and devours their enemies, and if anyone wishes to hurt them, it is essential for him to thus be killed. ⁶ These have the authority to lock the heaven, in order that no rainfall may rain on the days of their prophecy and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of wound, whenever they will it.
⁷ And whenever they completed their testimony, the beast which is ascending out of the abyss, will make war with them and overcome them and kill them. ⁸ And the corpse s of them lay in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. ⁹ And some from among the peoples and tribes and languages and nations look upon their corpses three and a half days and they will not allow their corpses to be laid in a tomb. ¹⁰ And those who are dwelling upon the earth rejoice over them and will be joyous, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell upon the earth. ¹¹ And after the three and a half days the spirit of life from God entered into them and they stood upon their feet, and great fear fell upon those who view them.

¹⁴ And the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, in order that she may fly into the wilderness to her place, that she may be nourished there for a time and times and half a time, from the face of the serpent. ¹⁵ And the serpent cast water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, in order that he might make the river whisk her away. ¹⁶ And the earth helped the woman and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth. ¹⁷ And the dragon was angry against the woman and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, who are keeping the commandments of God and holding the testimony of Jesus.

³² And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the sons of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up the inhabitants of it. And all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. ³³ And we saw there the giants, the sons of Anak, who come of the giants. And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers and so we were in their sight.

¹³ The sluggard says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
¹⁴ The door turns upon its hinges, so does the sluggard upon his bed.
¹⁵ The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. It wearies him to bring it again to his mouth.
¹⁶ The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men who can render a reason.

¹⁹ And Jehovah saw and despised, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

²⁰ And she said, The Philistines are upon you, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep and said, I will go out as at other times and shake myself free, but he did not know that Jehovah was departed from him. ²¹ And the Philistines laid hold on him and put out his eyes. And they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of brass and he did grinding in the prison-house.

²⁶ Did not Solomon King of Israel sin by these things? Yet there was no king like him among many nations and he was beloved of his God and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.

¹² So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.

¹⁶ to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreign woman who flatters with her words, ¹⁷ who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God ¹⁸ (because her house inclines to death and her paths to the dead; ¹⁹ none who go to her return again, nor do they attain to the paths of life),

³ Because the lips of a strange woman drop honey and her mouth is smoother than oil. ⁴ But in the end, she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
⁵ Her feet go down to death. Her steps take hold on Sheol, ⁶ so that she does not find the level path of life. Her ways are unstable and she does not know.
⁷ Now therefore, you* the sons, listen to me and do not depart from the words of my mouth.
⁸ Remove your way far from her and do not come near the door of her house, ⁹ lest you give your honor to others and your years to the cruel, ¹⁰ lest strangers be filled with your strength and your labors be in the house of an alien, ¹¹ and you mourn at your latter end when your flesh and your body are consumed, ¹² and say, How I have hated instruction and my heart despised reproof. ¹³ Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the assembly and congregation.
¹⁵ Drink waters out of your own cistern and flowing waters out of your own well. ¹⁶ Should your springs be dispersed abroad and streams of water in the streets? ¹⁷ Let them be for yourself alone and not for strangers with you.
¹⁸ Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice in the wife of your youth: ¹⁹ a loving female-deer and a pleasant doe. Let her breasts satisfy you at all times and be ravished always with her love.
²⁰ For why should you, my son, be ravished with an strange woman and embrace the bosom of a foreigner?
²¹ Because the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah and he makes level all his paths.
²² His own iniquities will take a wicked man and he will be held with the cords of his sin. ²³ He will die for lack of instruction. And he will go astray in the greatness of his folly.

²⁴ to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the stranger's tongue.
²⁵ Do not desire after her beauty in your heart, nor let her take you with her eyelids. ²⁶ A man comes to the last piece of bread because of the price of a prostitute, but the adulteress hunts for the precious life.
²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Or can a man walk upon hot coals and his feet not be scorched?
²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.

⁵ that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the foreign woman who flatters with her words.
⁶ Because I looked forth through my lattice at the window of my house, ⁷ and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding ⁸ passing through the street near her corner. And he went the way to her house, ⁹ in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and in the darkness.
¹⁰ And behold, a woman attired like a prostitute and with a guarded heart met him there. ¹¹ She is loud and headstrong. Her feet do not abide in her house. ¹² Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places and lies in wait at every corner.
¹³ So she caught him and kissed him. She said to him with an impudent face, ¹⁴ Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. I have paid my vows this day. ¹⁵ Therefore I came out to meet you, diligently to seek your face and I have found you. ¹⁶ I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt. ¹⁷ I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning. Let us solace ourselves with love. ¹⁹ Because the man is not at home. He has gone a long journey. ²⁰ He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon.
²¹ She causes him to yield with her much fair speech. She forces him along with the flattering of her lips.
²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare. And he does not know that it is for his life. ²⁴ Now therefore, you* sons, listen to me and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart decline to her ways. Do not go-astray in her paths. ²⁶ Because she has cast down many wounded. Yes, all her slain are a mighty host.
²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.

²⁷ Because a prostitute is a deep ditch and an strange woman is a narrow well.

²⁶ And I find more bitter than death, the woman whose heart is snares and nets and whose hands are chains. He who pleases God will escape from her, but the sinner will be taken by her.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

⁵ Behold, I was brought out in iniquity and my mother conceived me in sin.

²⁴ He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him chastens him promptly.

¹⁸ Chasten your son because there is hope and do not let your soul spare for his crying.

¹³ Do not withhold correction from the child, because if you beat him with the rod, he will not die. ¹⁴ You will beat him with the rod and will deliver his soul from Sheol.

¹⁵ The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

¹⁷ Discipline your son and he will give you rest, yes, he will give delight to your soul.

⁶ What has been born out of the flesh is flesh, and what has been born out of the Spirit is spirit.

³ among whom we also all conducted ourselves previously in the lusts of our flesh, practicing the wills of the flesh and of the mind and we were children of wrath by nature, even as the rest.

¹⁰ For they indeed were disciplining us for a few days according to what did seem right to them, but he does it upon what is advantageous for us, that we may receive of his holiness. ¹¹ Now indeed all disciplining does not seem to be a thing of joy for the present, but of sorrow; now later it gives peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised because of it.

¹⁹ For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house and he will not build it up. ²⁰ Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save any of that in which he delights. ²¹ There was nothing left that he did not devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he will be in straits. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come upon him. ²³ When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him and will rain it upon him while he is eating. ²⁴ He will flee from the iron weapon and the bow of brass will pass him through. ²⁵ He draws it forth and it comes out of his body, yes, the glittering point comes out of his gall. Terrors are upon him. ²⁶ All darkness is laid up for his treasures. A fire not blown will devour him. It will consume what is left in his tent. ²⁷ The heavens will reveal his iniquity and the earth will rise up against him. ²⁸ The increase of his house will depart, flowed away in the day of his wrath.
²⁹ This is the portion of a wicked man from God and the heritage appointed to him by God.

⁵ Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, now I will arise, says Jehovah. I will set him into the safety he breathes for.

²² Do not rob a poor man, because he is poor, nor oppress an afflicted man in the gate. ²³ Because Jehovah will plead their cause and despoil of life those who despoil them.

³ A needy man who oppresses the poor is a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

²² He who has an evil eye hastens after riches and does not know that want will come upon him.

² And they desire fields and seize them and houses and take them away. And they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.
³ Therefore Jehovah says thus: Behold, I devise an evil against this family, from which you* will not remove your* necks, nor will you* walk haughtily, for it is an evil time.

⁹ Thus Jehovah of hosts has spoken, saying, Execute true justice and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. ¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the traveler, nor the poor man. And let none of you* devise evil against his brother in your* heart.
¹¹ But they refused to listen and pulled away the shoulder and stopped their ears, that they might not hear. ¹² Yes, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Jehovah of hosts.
¹³ And it has happen that, as he cried and they would not hear, so they will cry and I will not hear, said Jehovah of hosts. ¹⁴ But I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned. For they laid the desirable land desolate.

³³ And if you do good to those who are doing good to you, what gratitude do you have? For even sinners are doing the same. ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you are hoping to receive, what gratitude do you have? For even sinners are lending to sinners, in order that they might receive equally. ³⁵ However, love^*\'b0 your enemies and do good things for them and lend, hoping for nothing again. And your reward will be much, and you will be sons of the Highest, because he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

¹² Now he said to him, who has also invited him, Whenever you make a meal or a supper, do not summon your friends, nor your brethren, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors; lest they may also invite you too and it might become a repayment for you. ¹³ But whenever you make a banquet, invite the poor, the disabled, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ and you will be fortunate, because they do not have anything in which to repay you; for you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.

²⁴ And having shouted, he said, Father Abraham, show-mercy to me, and send Lazarus in order that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and may cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in this flame.

¹³ For the judgment is merciless to the one who has not practiced mercy; mercy wins over judgment.

¹ Come now you rich, weep, howling in your miseries, in those which are coming upon you. ² Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have tarnished, and their tarnish will be for a testimony against you and will be eating your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure in your^\'b0 last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the workers who mowed your farmlands, the wages which have been defrauded by you, are crying out against you and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts. ⁵ You have caroused upon the land and are self-indulgent; you have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

¹² So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.

³ to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness and justice and uprightness,

² so as to incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding, ³ because, if you cry after discernment and lift up your voice for understanding, ⁴ if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, ⁵ then you will understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God.

¹ My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commandments.

⁴ And he taught me and said to me, Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments and live.
⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding. Do not forget, nor decline from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Do not forsake her and she will preserve you. Love her and she will keep you.
⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing. Get wisdom, yes, get understanding with all your substance.
⁸ Exalt her and she will promote you. She will bring you to honor when you embrace her.

¹ My son, attend to my wisdom. Incline your ear to my understanding, ² that you may preserve discretion and that your lips may keep knowledge.

³³ Hear instruction and be wise and do not refuse it.
³⁴ The man who hears me is fortunate, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

¹² Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to the words of knowledge.

²⁵ I turned about and my heart was set to know and to search out and to seek wisdom and the reason of things and to know that wickedness is folly and that foolishness is madness.

⁹ All this I have seen and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has power over another to his hurt.

¹⁶ When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done upon the earth (because also there is he who sees sleep with his eyes neither day nor night),

³ Incline your* ear and come to me. Hear and your* soul will live. And I will make an everlasting covenant with you*, even the faithful holy things of David.

⁵ While he is still speaking, behold, a radiant cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted; hear him!

¹⁸ for I am full of words. The spirit within me compels me. ¹⁹ Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent. Like new wine-skins it is ready to burst.

¹⁰ They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold. Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb.

¹³ I have declared all the ordinances of your mouth with my lips.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste, than honey to my mouth!

¹¹¹ I have taken your testimonies as a heritage everlasting, because they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹⁶² I rejoice at your word, as he who finds great spoil.

¹⁷¹ Let my lips pour out praise, because you teach me your statutes.

¹⁰ Because wisdom will enter into your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul,

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace.

⁶ Hear, because I will speak excellent things. And the opening of my lips will be in uprightness.

¹³ Wisdom is found in the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.

²¹ The lips of a righteous man feeds many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

⁷ The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but the heart of the foolish, not so.

²¹ The wise in heart will be called prudent and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.

¹³ My son, eat honey, because it is good and the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste, ¹⁴ so the knowledge of wisdom is to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward and your hope will not be cut off.

¹¹ A timely word spoken is apples of gold in a lattice-work of silver.

¹⁶ Your words were found and I ate them. And your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart. For I am called by your name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge and they should seek the law at his mouth. For he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

³⁸ He who believes in me, like the Scripture has said, Rivers of living water will be flowing out of his belly.

¹⁵ Therefore, let us always offer up a sacrifice of praising through him to God, that is, the fruit of our lips confessing in his name.

⁸ Trust in him at all times, you* the people. Pour out your* heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.

² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and will not be afraid, for Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song and he has become my salvation.

⁴ Trust in Jehovah forever, for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah and whose trust Jehovah is.

²¹ who believe through him in God. The God who raised him up from the dead and gave him glory; so-that your faith and hope might be in God.

⁶ The words of Jehovah are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace on the earth, purified seven times.

¹² I wrote for him the multitude of my law, but they are counted as a strange thing.

¹⁵ And you have known, that from a baby, the sacred Scriptures which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
¹⁶ All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for education which is in righteousness, ¹⁷ in order that the man of God may be equipped, having been utterly equipped for every good work.

¹⁹ And we have the steadfast prophetic word, (as to a lamp appearing in a dreary place, until the day should dawn and the morning-star might rise), to which you are doing well, and taking-heed in your hearts. ²⁰ Knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture does not come from one’s own interpretation. ²¹ For no prophecy was ever brought about by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke the word being carried by the Holy Spirit.

³ it also seemed good to me, having followed accurately in all things from the start, to write to you afterwards, most-excellent Theophilus; ⁴ in order that you might fully know the certainty concerning the words in which you were instructed.

³¹ but these have been written, in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and in order that believing you may have life in his name.

¹⁵ but make the Lord God holy in your hearts, and be ready habitually with a defense to everyone who is asking you for a reason concerning the hope which is in you, with meekness and fear;

¹³ I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have everlasting life, and in order that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.

⁶ You will not distort the justice due to your poor in his case.

¹² Because I delivered the poor who cried, also the fatherless who had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of him who was ready to perish came upon me and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,

¹⁰ Do not remove the ancient landmark. And do not enter into the fields of the fatherless, ¹¹ because their Redeemer is strong. He will plead their cause against you.

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have distressed the poor and needy man and have oppressed the traveler wrongfully.

¹⁰ And do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the traveler, nor the poor man. And let none of you* devise evil against his brother in your* heart.

⁵ And I will come near to you* to judgment and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against the false swearers and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the fatherless and who turn aside the traveler and do not fear me, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹² Jehovah judge between me and you and Jehovah avenge me of you, but my hand will not be upon you.

¹⁵ Jehovah therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you and see and plead my cause and deliver me out of your hand.

³⁹ And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Praise Jehovah, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal and has kept back his servant from evil and Jehovah has returned the evil-doing of Nabal upon his own head. ⁵ A father of the fatherless and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

¹² I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted man and justice for the needy.

¹¹ because their Redeemer is strong. He will plead their cause against you.

¹ Woe to you who destroys and you were not destroyed and deal treacherously and they did not deal treacherously with you! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed and when you have made an end of dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you.

³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong. Jehovah of hosts is his name. He will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth and shake the inhabitants of Babylon.

³⁶ Therefore Jehovah says thus: Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you. And I will dry up her sea and make her fountain dry.

⁹ I will bear the indignation of Jehovah, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case and executes judgment for me. He will bring me forth to the light and I will behold his righteousness.

⁸ Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men's blood and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.

²² An angry man stirs up strife and a wrathful man abounds in transgression.

¹⁴ Do not become unequally yoked with unbelieving ones; for what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with unbelieving ones? ¹⁶ And what alliance has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God; just-as God said, ‘I will be dwelling among them and will be walking among them, and I will be their God and they will be a people to me.’ ¹⁷ Hence ‘Come out from the midst of them and be separate,’says the Lord, ‘And touch no unclean thing, and I will accept you\super\'b0

³⁵ but mingled themselves with the nations and learned their works,

²⁰ Walk with wise men and you will be wise. But the companion of fools will be evil for it.

³³ Do not be misled: evil associations corrupt virtuous morals.

¹ My son, if you have become a surety for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands for a stranger, ² you are snared with the words of your mouth, you are taken with the words of your mouth.
³ Do this now, my son and deliver yourself, because you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself and behave-proudly to neighbor. ⁴ Do not give sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids. ⁵ Deliver yourself as a roe from the hand and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

¹⁵ He will suffer for it who is a surety for a stranger, but he who hates being a striker of deals is secure.

¹⁸ A man void of understanding strikes hands and becomes a surety in the presence of his neighbor.

¹³ Take his garment that it is a surety for a stranger and hold him in pledge who is a surety for a strange woman.

²⁶ If you at all take your neighbor's garment to pledge, you will restore it to him before the sun goes down, ²⁷ because that is his only covering. It is his garment for his skin. How will he sleep? And it will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, because I am gracious.

¹⁶ Take his garment because it is a surety for a stranger and hold him in pledge for foreigners.

¹⁴ You will not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit, in the land that Jehovah your God gives you to possess it.

¹⁷ Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark. And all the people will say, Truly.

² There are men who remove the landmarks. They take away flocks violently and feed them.

¹⁰ Do not remove the ancient landmark. And do not enter into the fields of the fatherless,

⁴⁶ And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh King of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

⁸ Your men are fortunate, these, your servants, are fortunate who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom.

⁴ He who works with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

²⁴ The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put under forced-labor.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might, because there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you go.

¹¹ not lazy in your diligence being zealous in your spirit; serving the Lord;

² Preach the word. Stand-ready opportunely and inopportunely. Reprove, rebuke and encourage in all patience and teaching.
