²⁰ Do not be among drunkards, among gluttonous eaters of flesh.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler and whoever straying by it is not wise.

²⁹ Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? ³⁰ Those who abide long at the wine. Those who go to seek out mixed wine.
³¹ Do not look upon the wine because it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. ³² At the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.
³³ Your eyes will behold strange things and your heart will utter perverse things. ³⁴ Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he who lies upon the top of a mast.
³⁵ They have stricken me, you will say and I was not hurt. They have beaten me and I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

⁷ He who keeps the law is a wise son, but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

⁶ Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish and wine to the bitter in soul. ⁷ Let him drink and forget his need and remember his misery no more.

¹¹ Woe to those who rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, who abide late into the night, till wine inflame them!

²² Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink,

¹³ And behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine. Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.

⁴⁹ and may begin to beat his fellow bondservants and to eat and drink with the drunken;

¹³ And not many days after, the younger son gathered it all together and went-abroad into a far region, and he squandered his estate with riotous living there.

³ For enough time which has passed away from our life is for us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, and having conducted-ourselves in: unbridled-lusts, lusts, drunkenness, revelings, drinking-bouts and illegal idolatries; ⁴ in which they are surprised by you, that you^\'b0 are not running together with them into the same outpouring of riotousness, blaspheming;
