But Mordecai did not bow down, nor do him reverence. 3 Then the king's servants, who were in the king's gate, said to Mordecai, Why do you transgress the king's commandment?
4 Now it happened, when they spoke daily to him and he did not listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand, for he had told them that he was a Jew. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down, nor do him reverence, then Haman was full of wrath.

12 Then the king's scribes were called in the first month, on the thirteenth day of it. And there was written according to all that Haman commanded to the king's satraps and to the governors who were over every province and to the rulers of every people, to every province according to the writing of it and to every people after their language, in the name of king Ahasuerus it was written. Hypocrites! You indeed know how to discern the face of the heaven, but you are not able to discern the signs of the times. 4 An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign, and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. And he left them and went away.

23 And having come to him in the temple, the high-priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?
24 But Jesus answered and said to them, I will also ask you one question, which if you tell me, then I will also tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 25 The immersion of John, where was it from, from heaven or from men?
Now they were reasoning with themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say to us, Therefore why did you not believe him? 26 But if we say, From men; we fear the crowd; for all are holding John up like a prophet. 27 And they answered Jesus and said, We do not know.

Matthew 22:15-32

Is it legal to give tribute to Caesar or not?
18 But Jesus, having known their wickedness, said, Why are you testing me, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the tribute coin. Now they brought to him a denarius. 20 And he says to them, Whose face is this image and inscription? 21 They say to him, Caesar’s. Then he says to them, Therefore give to Caesar, the things which are Caesar’s, and to God, the things which are God’s. 22 And having heard it, they marveled, and went away, leaving him.

23 In that day, the Sadducees came to him, saying that there is no resurrection, and they asked him, 24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If anyone dies, having no children, his brother will marry his wife and will be raising up seed to his brother. 25 Now seven brethren were with us, and the first having married, but after he was dead, his wife had no seed left to his brother; 26 likewise also the second and the third, until the seventh. 27 But after them all, the woman also died. 28 Therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven in the resurrection? For they all had her as a wife.
29 But Jesus answered and said to them, You are being misled, by not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For they neither marry, nor are betrothed in the resurrection, but are like messengers of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what has been said to you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Luke 12:13-21

16 Now he spoke a parable to them, saying: The farmland of a certain rich man was fertile; 17 and he was reasoning in himself, saying, What should I do, because I have nowhere, in which, I will gather together my fruits? 18 And he said, I will be doing this: I will be taking down my barns and build greater ones. And I will be gathering together there, all my fruits of labor and my good things. 19 And I will be saying to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years; rest yourself, eat, drink, and be joyous.
20 But God said to him, Fool, your soul is asked back from you in this night, and the things which you prepared, whose will they be? 21 So is he who is storing up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Luke 13:23-30

23 Now someone said to him, Lord, if only those few are saved?

And when he has answered the knock, he will say to you, I do not know you or where you are from.
26 Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in your sight and you taught in our streets.
27 And he will say, I say to you, I do not know you or where you are from. Withdraw from me, everyone–the workers of unrighteousness. 28 The weeping and the gnashing of teeth will be there, whenever you\'b0 see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves cast forth outside. 29 And they will be coming from the east and west and north and south, and will be reclining in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, there are last who will be first and there are first who will be last.

28 They reviled him and said, You are a disciple of that man, but we are disciples of Moses. 29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but this one, we do not know where he is from.
30 The man answered and said to them, For a marvelous thing is in this, because you do not know where he is from and yet he opened my eyes. 31 But we know that God does not hear sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and if he is practicing his will, he hears him. 32 It has not been heard from the beginning of the world, that anyone has opened the eyes of one who had been born blind. 33 If this one was not from God, he would be unable to do anything.

And let there not fail from the house of Joab one who has a discharge, or who is a leper, or who leans on a staff, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread. 30 So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

But if I speak the truth, why are you not believing in me? 47 He who is from God hears the declarations of God, but because of this, you do not hear them, because you are not from God.
