¹ Why do you stand afar off, O Jehovah? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
² The poor man is hotly-pursued in the pride of the wicked man. Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived. ³ Because the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. And the greedy man renounces, yes, despises Jehovah.
⁴ The wicked man, in the pride of his countenance, says, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God.
⁵ His ways are profane at all times. Your judgments are far above out of his sight. As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. ⁶ He says in his heart, I will not be shaken. I will not be in adversity to all generations.
⁷ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.
⁸ He sits in the lurking-places of the villages. He murders the innocent man in the covert places. His eyes are secretly set against the poor man. ⁹ He lurks in secret as a lion in his covering. He lies in wait to catch the poor man. He catches the poor man when he draws him in his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, he bows down and helpless men fall by his strong men.
¹¹ He says in his heart, God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.
¹² Arise, O Jehovah, O God, lift up your hand. Do not forget the poor.
¹³ Why does the wicked man despise God and say in his heart, You will not require it?
¹⁴ You have seen. Because you behold mischief and spite, to repay with your hand. The poor man commits himself to you. You have been the helper of the fatherless. ¹⁵ Break you the arm of the sinner and the evil man. His wickedness will be sought and will not be found. ¹⁶ Jehovah is King everlasting and forever. The nations have perished out of his land. ¹⁷ Jehovah, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear, ¹⁸ to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more terrify.

²⁴ Why do you hide your face and reckon me for your enemy?

⁹ on the left hand, when he works, but I cannot behold him. He hides himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hides his face, who then can behold him? It is the same whether to a nation, or to a man,

¹ How long, O Jehovah? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
³ Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God. Lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the death,

¹ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, far from helping me and the words of my groaning?

⁹ Do not hide your face from me. Do not put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Cast me not off, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

⁷ You, Jehovah, had made my mountain to stand strong from your favor. You hid your face; I was troubled.

²⁴ Why do you hide your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

¹ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

¹⁴ Jehovah, why do you cast off my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?

⁸ O you hope of Israel, the Savior of it in the time of trouble, why should you be as a traveler in the land and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to abide for a night?

¹⁷ As yet you exalt yourself against my people, that you will not let them go?

¹¹ Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all gods, yes, in the thing in which they dealt proudly against them.

¹⁶ His mischief will return upon his own head and his violence will come down upon his own scalp.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made. In the net which they hid, their own foot is taken. ¹⁶ Jehovah has made himself known. He has executed justice. The wicked man is snared in the work of his own hands. A meditation. Selah.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be dumb, which arrogantly speak against the righteous man, with pride and contempt.

¹¹ Do not let the foot of pride come against me and do not let the hand of sinners drive me away.

¹² for the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips. Let them even be taken in their pride and on the cursing and lying which they speak.

⁵ O that my ways were established to observe your statutes!

⁶⁹ The proud have forged a lie against me. I will keep your precepts with my whole heart.

⁸⁵ The proud have dug pits for me, who are not according to your law.

¹²² Be a surety for your servant for good. Do not let the proud oppress me.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me and cords. They have spread a net by the wayside. They have set snares for me. Selah.

²² His own iniquities will take a wicked man and he will be held with the cords of his sin.

¹² Therefore it will happen, that, when the Lord has performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the glory of his high looks.
¹³ For he has said, I have done it by the strength of my hand and by my wisdom, for I have understanding. And I have removed the bounds of the peoples and have robbed their treasures. And like a valiant man I have brought down those who sit on thrones.

¹³ And you said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God and I will sit upon the mountain of congregation, in the outermost parts of the north.

¹⁶ Those who see you will gaze at you. They will consider you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,

² then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah and Johanan the son of Kareah and all the proud men, spoke, saying to Jeremiah, You speak falsely. Jehovah our God has not sent you to say, You* will not go into Egypt to journey there.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire will be satisfied upon them. I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.

³⁰ And I will destroy your* high places and cut down your* sun-images and cast your* dead bodies upon the bodies of your* idols and my soul will abhor you*.

¹⁹ and it happens, when he hears the words of this curse, that he graces himself in his heart, saying, I will have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.

¹⁹ And Jehovah saw and despised, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

²¹ And Saul said, You* are blessed of Jehovah, for you* have had compassion on me.

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope and have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence;

⁶ You will destroy those who speak lies. Jehovah abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

²¹ Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it.

⁶ Those who trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches,

¹¹ Their inward thought is that their houses are everlasting, their dwelling-places to all generations. They call their lands after their own names.
¹² Even a man in splendor does not abide. He is like the beasts that perish. ¹³ This way of theirs is their folly. Yet men approve their sayings after them. Selah.

¹⁸ Because while he lived he blessed his soul (and men praise you, when you do well for yourself),

¹ Why boast you yourself in mischief, O mighty man? The loving kindness of God is continual.

⁸ They scoff and utter oppression in wickedness. They speak loftily. ⁹ They have set their mouth in the heavens and their tongue walks through the earth.

⁴ They pour out words, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of wickedness boast of themselves.

⁴ Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.

⁷ However he does not so reason, nor does his heart so think, but it is in his heart to destroy and to cut off nations not a few. ⁸ For he says, Are not my rulers all of them kings? ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images excelled those of Jerusalem and of Samaria, ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

²³ Whom have you defied and blasphemed? And against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Even against the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and killed* him. I hid my face and was angry and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness and for shedding innocent blood and for oppression and for violence, to do it.

⁷ He is a Canaanite. The balances of deceit are in his hand. He loves to oppress. ⁸ And Ephraim said, Surely I have become rich. I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors they will find no iniquity in me that is sin.

¹⁰ Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked and a scant measure that is indignant? ¹¹ Shall I be pure with wicked balances and with a bag of deceitful weights? ¹² For the rich men of it are full of violence and the inhabitants of it have spoken lies and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

⁹ Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

⁵ whose possessors kill them and hold themselves not guilty. And those who sell them say, Praise Jehovah, for I am rich and their own shepherds pity them not. ⁶ For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, says Jehovah. But behold, I will deliver the men each one into his neighbor's hand and into the hand of his king. And they will kill* the land and I will not deliver them out of their hand.
⁷ So I fed the flock of slaughter, truly the poor of the flock. And I took to me two staves, the one I called Beauty and the other I called Bands and I fed the flock. ⁸ And I cut off the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was weary of them and their soul also loathed me.

¹⁵ and said, What are you willing to give me and I will be giving him to you? Now they weighed out thirty pieces of silver for him. ¹⁶ And he was seeking an opportunity from then onward in order that he might give him to them.

¹⁵ Now he said to them, See and guard yourselves from greed, because not to anyone is his life in the abundance of his possessions.

¹⁹ And I will be saying to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years; rest yourself, eat, drink, and be joyous.

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who are money-lovers, were also hearing all these things, and they were ridiculing him. ¹⁵ And he said to them, You are those who are making yourselves righteous in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts, because what is exalted among men is an abomination in God’s sight.

²⁹ They have been filled with all: unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, greed, malice; full of: envy, murder, strife, treachery, maliciousness. They are: malicious whisperers,

³² Who, having fully known the ordinance of God, (that those practicing such things are worthy of death), are not only practicing the same things, but also are consenting with those who are practicing the same things.

¹⁰ nor the greedy ones, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will be inheriting the kingdom of God.

⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor greedy person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and greed, which is idolatry.

⁹ But those who are planning to be rich are falling into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, which are submerging men into utter-destruction and everlasting destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils; of which some aspiring to, have been misled from the faith and they themselves are staked-through by many sorrows.

² For men will be lovers of themselves, money-lovers, braggarts, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ cold-hearted, implacable, slanderers, with no self-control, untamed, not lovers of good, ⁴ betrayers, rash, having been puffed up, loving sensual-delights rather than loving God;

¹³ Come now, you who are saying, Today and the next-day, we should travel into this city and spend one year there and be a merchant and make a gain.

¹⁶ But now you boast in your self-importance. All such boasting is evil.

¹⁵ Do not love the world, nor the things which are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

⁵ And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only continually evil.

² And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah and moreover I will not let Israel go.

¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up and you forget Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage,

¹⁷ who said to God, Depart from us, and What can the Almighty do for us?

¹ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none that does good. ² Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God.

²⁷ Because you will save the afflicted people, but the haughty eyes you will bring down.

⁸ My heart said to you, I have sought your face. O Jehovah, I will seek your face.

¹ The transgression of the wicked man says within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.

¹ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they and have done abominable unrighteousness. There is none who does good.

⁵ He who slanders his neighbor secretly, I will destroy him. He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not endure.

¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood,

⁴ A high look and a proud heart, even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

⁹ lest I am full and deny you and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I am poor and steal and use the name of my God profanely.

¹³ There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes and their eyelids are lifted up.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man will be brought low and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down and Jehovah alone will be exalted in that day.

⁹ The show of their countenance witnesses against them and they declare their sin as Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have done evil to themselves.

⁷ Their feet run to evil and they make haste to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of wickedness. Desolation and destruction are in their paths.

² I have spread out my hands all the day to a disobedient and rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, according to their own thoughts,

³¹ O generation, see you* the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say, We have broken loose. We will come no more to you?

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?

²² And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, ²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor know. And the God in whose hand your breath is and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.

³ Seek Jehovah, all you* meek of the earth who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. It may be you* will be hid in the day of Jehovah's anger.

²¹ For evil reasonings travel from inside, out of the heart of men, such as : adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts,

²² Therefore repent from this, your malice, and beseech God; if, then, the deliberation of your heart will be forgiven to you.

²¹ because having known God, they did not glorify him as God, nor gave-thanks, but became-futile in their reasonings and their heart was darkened without understanding.

²⁸ And just-as they did not approve to have God in their full knowledge, God gave them up to an unapproved mind, to do those things which are not proper.

¹² that you were separate from Christ at the time, having been alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and were godless in the world.

¹² And God saw the earth and behold, it was corrupt, because all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.

²⁷ And they went out into the field and gathered their vineyards and trod the grapes and held festival and went into the house of their god and ate and drank and cursed Abimelech.

³⁸ Then Zebul said to him, Where is now your mouth, that you said, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? Is not this the people that you have despised? Go out now, I pray and fight with them.

⁶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you will not come in here, thinking, David cannot come in here.

¹⁰ And Ben-hadad sent to him and said, The gods do so to me and more also, if the dust of Samaria will suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me. ¹¹ And the King of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let he who girds on his armor boast himself as he who puts it off.

¹³ And behold, a prophet came near to Ahab King of Israel and said, Jehovah says thus, Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day and you will know that I am Jehovah.

⁵ Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, now I will arise, says Jehovah. I will set him into the safety he breathes for.

⁵ How great are your works, O Jehovah! Your thoughts are very deep. ⁶ A stupid man does not know, nor does a fool understand this.

¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who is greedy of gain. It takes away the life of the owners of it.

¹³ who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,

¹⁵ who are crooked in their ways and wayward in their paths,

²⁴ To the wise man the way of life is upward, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.

¹ Do not be envious against evil men, nor desire to be with them.

¹² And the harp and the lute, the tambourine and the pipe and wine, are in their feasts, but they do not regard the work of Jehovah, nor have they considered the operation of his hands.

¹ Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees and to the writers who write perverseness,

¹¹ Jehovah, your hand is lifted up, yet they do not see. But they will see your zeal for the people and be put to shame. Yes, fire will devour your adversaries.

¹⁵ Because you* have said, We have made a covenant with death and we are at agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge will pass through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge and we have hid ourselves under falsehood.

²⁵ Therefore he poured upon him the fierceness of his anger and the strength of battle. And it set him on fire all around, yet he did not know. And it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

⁹ They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will visit their sins.

⁹ Who is wise, that he may understand these things, prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of Jehovah are right and the just will walk in them. But transgressors will fall in them.

¹⁶ downfall and miseries are in their ways;

¹ I take refuge in Jehovah. How will you* say to my soul, Flee like a bird to your* mountain.

¹ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none that does good.

⁵ he who puts not his money out to interest, nor takes a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will not be shaken everlasting.

⁶ As for me, I said in my prosperity, I will not be shaken everlasting.

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

⁷ And you said, I will be a mistress everlasting, so that you did not lay these things to your heart, nor remembered the latter end of it.

¹² Come you*, they say, I will fetch wine and we will fill ourselves with strong drink. And tomorrow will be as this day, great beyond measure.

¹⁰ For entangled like thorns and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble.

⁴⁸ But if that evil bondservant says in his heart, My lord is delaying to come;

³ For whenever they are saying, Peace and security; then sudden utter-destruction stands by them, just-like the travail a woman has in her womb, and they may never flee away from it.

⁷ In how-much she glorified herself and was promiscuous, give to her so-much more torment and mourning, because she says in her heart, I am sitting as a queen and I am no widow and may never see mourning.

³⁵ They conceive mischief and bring forth wickness and their heart prepares deceit.

¹² Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,

⁹ Because there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Their inward part is destruction. Their throat is an open sepulcher. They deceive with their tongue.

¹⁴ Behold the wicked man, he travails with wickedness. Yes, he has conceived mischief and brought out falsehood.

² They speak falsehood everyone with his neighbor. They speak with a flattering lip and with a double heart.

³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

⁶ And if he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood. His heart gathers wickness to itself. When he goes abroad, he tells it.

⁴ You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.

²¹ His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

³ The wicked are estranged from the womb. They go-astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

⁴ They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity. They delight in lies. They praise with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

³ who have flashed their tongue like a sword and have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

⁸ They scoff and utter oppression in wickedness. They speak loftily.

³ They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent. Adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

⁹ As for the head of those who encompass me around, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

⁸ whose mouth speaks deceit and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

¹¹ Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens, whose mouth speaks deceit and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

⁶ The acquisition of treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven to and fro by those who seek death.

⁸ Remove far from me falsehood and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me,

⁴ No man sues in righteousness and no man pleads in truth. They trust in vanity and speak lies. They conceive mischief and bring forth wickedness.

³ And they bend their tongue–their bow–for falsehood and they have grown strong in the land, but not for truth. For they proceed from evil to evil and they do not know me, says Jehovah.

⁶ Your habitation is in the midst of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me, says Jehovah.

³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How are you, being evil, able to speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth is speaking.

¹³ ‘Their throat has been an opened burial chamber; they were treacherous with their tongues.’‘The poison of asps is under their lips.’ ¹⁴ ‘Whose mouth is full of evil-cursing and bitterness.’

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, the world of unrighteousness. Thus the tongue is designated among our members as what stains the whole body and ignites the birth cycle and is ignited by hell. ⁷ For every nature of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea-creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by human nature. ⁸ But no one from mankind is able to tame the tongue; it is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, Turn and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned and he fell upon the priests and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore a linen ephod.

²³ See therefore and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hides himself and come you* again to me of a certainty. And I will go with you* and it will happen, if he is in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.

¹⁶ Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides his sin with which he made Judah to sin in doing what was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

¹¹ They have now encompassed us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast down to the earth.

⁶ They kill the widow and the traveler and murder the fatherless.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us. Let us lay wait for blood. Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause. ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol and whole, as those who go down into the pit.

¹² A worthless person, a man of wickedness, is he who walks with a perverse mouth, ¹³ who winks with his eyes, who speaks with his feet, who makes signs with his fingers,

¹⁴ You pierced with his own staves the head of his warriors. They came as a whirlwind to scatter me. Their rejoicing was as to devour the poor man secretly.

¹ And it happened afterwards also, that he was traveling through every city and village, preaching and proclaiming the good-news of the kingdom of God and the twelve were together with him,

¹ Now after these things, the Lord also delegated seventy others, and sent them two apiece into every city and place before his face, where he himself was about to go.

¹⁵ But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty. ¹⁶ So a poor man has hope and unrighteousness stops her mouth.

¹² He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

¹⁰ All my bones will say, Jehovah, who is like you, who delivers a poor man from him who is too strong for him, yes, a poor and needy man from him who robs him?

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill such as are upright in the way.

³ Because behold, they lie in wait for my soul.
The mighty gather themselves together against me, not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah.

³¹ Because he will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul.

³¹ He who oppresses a poor man reproaches his maker, but he who has mercy on a needy man honors him.

¹⁶ He who oppresses a poor man to his increase and he who gives to a rich man, comes only to want.

¹⁵ A roaring lion and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

¹⁵ What do you* mean that you* crush my people and grind the face of the poor? says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

⁷ And the instruments of the churl are evil. He devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

²⁶ For among my people are found wicked men. They watch as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap; they catch men.

¹⁰ He is to me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in concealed places.

³ And she brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion and he learned to catch the prey. He devoured men. ⁴ The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.
⁵ Now when she saw that she had waited and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs and made him a young lion. ⁶ And he went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion and he learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have distressed the poor and needy man and have oppressed the traveler wrongfully.

⁶ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes– ⁷ those who pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go to the same maiden, to profane my holy name.

⁴ Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has taken nothing?

¹¹ Inasmuch therefore as you* trample upon the poor and take exactions of wheat from him. You* have built houses of hewn stone, but you* will not dwell in them. You* have planted pleasant vineyards, but you* will not drink the wine of it.
¹² For I know how great are your* transgressions and how mighty are your* sins–you* who afflict the just man, who take a bribe and who turn aside the needy in the gate.

² The devout man has perished out of the earth and there is none upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood. They hunt every man his brother with a net.

¹¹ Where is the den of the lions and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion's cub and none made them afraid? ¹² The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs and strangled for his lionesses and filled his caves with prey and his dens with prey.

¹⁵ He takes all of them up with the hook. He catches them in his net and gathers them in his drag. Therefore he rejoices and is glad.

³ A voice of the wailing of the shepherds, for their glory is destroyed. A voice of the roaring of young lions, for the pride of the Jordan is laid waste.

¹² But the hired-servant and not being the shepherd, whose sheep are not his own, views the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees and the wolf seizes them and scatters the sheep.

²¹ Therefore you, do not be persuaded by them; for more-than forty out of them are plotting against him, who have vowed for themselves neither to eat nor to drink until they should have assassinated him, and they are ready now, waiting for the promise from you.

³⁶ And it will happen, that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread and will say, I beseech you, put me into one of the priests' offices that I may eat a morsel of bread.

²¹ And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David, You will this day be my son-in-law a second time.
²² And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Speak with David secretly and say, Behold, the king has delight in you and all his servants love you. Now therefore be the king's son-in-law. ²³ And Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. And David said, Does it seem to you* a light thing to be the king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and lightly esteemed?
²⁴ And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner David spoke. ²⁵ And Saul said, Thus you* will say to David, The king does not desire any wedding-money, but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
²⁶ And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law. And the days were not expired.

²¹ And Saul said, You* are blessed of Jehovah, for you* have had compassion on me. ²² Go, I beseech you*, make yet more sure and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals very shrewdly.

⁵ And it was so, that, when any man came near to him bowed-down, he put forth his hand and took hold of him and kissed him.

¹³ And you say, What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he does not see and he walks on the vault of heaven.

⁶ He says in his heart, I will not be shaken. I will not be in adversity to all generations.

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil purpose. They speak of laying snares secretly. They say, Who will see them?

¹¹ And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?

⁷ And they say, Jehovah will not see, nor will the God of Jacob consider.

¹² Then he said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, each man in his chambers of imagery? For they say, Jehovah does not see us. Jehovah has forsaken the land.

⁹ Then he said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great and the land is full of blood and the city full of perverseness. For they say, Jehovah has forsaken the land and Jehovah does not see.

⁶ But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke in himself, saying, This one, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.

⁷ Arise, O Jehovah. Save me, O my God. Because you have struck all my enemies upon the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.

⁶ Arise, O Jehovah, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries and awake for me the justice you have commanded.

¹² Because he who makes inquiry for blood remembers them. He does not forget the cry of the poor.

¹⁹ Arise, O Jehovah, do not let man prevail. Let the nations be judged in your sight.

¹ How long, O Jehovah? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

⁷ Show your marvelous loving kindness, O you who saves by your right hand those who take refuge from those who rise up.

⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he shut up his tender mercies in anger? Selah.

² Lift up yourself, judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.

¹⁰ Now I will arise, says Jehovah. Now I will lift up myself. Now I will be exalted.

⁹ Let your hand be lifted up above your adversaries and let all your enemies be cut off.

⁵ And surely I will require your* blood, the blood of your* lives. I will require it at the hand of every beast. And I will require the life of man at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother.

²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you*, saying, Sin not against the child and you* would not hear? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.

²⁰ but a whole month, until it comes out at your* nostrils and it is loathsome to you*, because you* have rejected Jehovah who is among you* and have wept before him, saying, Why did we come forth out of Egypt?

⁹ Why have you despised the word of Jehovah, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.
¹⁰ Now therefore the sword will not depart (everlasting and forever) from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.

²² Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah look upon it and require it.

¹⁰ How long, O God, will the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever?

¹⁸ Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O Jehovah and that a foolish people has blasphemed your name.

¹⁶ He who hears you, hears me; and he who is rejecting you, rejects me; and he who rejects me, rejects the one who sent me.

⁵⁰ in order that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the conception of the world, may be sought from this generation; ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel Yes, I say to you, It will be sought from this generation.

⁸ Therefore, the one who is rejecting this is not rejecting man, but God, who also gives his Holy Spirit to you.

¹⁸ He executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the traveler in giving him food and garments.

⁷ And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there.

²⁶ Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, says Jehovah and I will requite you in this plot, says Jehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plot of ground, according to the word of Jehovah.

²³ then hear you from heaven and do and judge your servants, requiting the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

¹¹ Do not be far from me, because trouble is near, because there is none to help.

²² You have seen it, O Jehovah. Do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me.

²² (Cast your burden upon Jehovah and he will sustain you. He will not allow the righteous man to be shaken everlasting.)

⁵ A father of the fatherless and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

⁹ Jehovah preserves the travelers. He upholds the fatherless and widow. But the way of the wicked he turns upside down.

³ The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

³ And what will you* do in the day of visitation and in the desolation which will come from far? To whom will you* flee for help? And where will you* leave your* glory?

¹⁷ For my eyes are upon all their ways. They are not hid from my face, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.

²⁴ Can any man hide himself in secret places so that I will not see him? says Jehovah. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says Jehovah.

¹¹ Leave your fatherless sons; I will preserve them alive. And let your widows trust in me.

⁵⁶ For the destroyer has come upon her, even upon Babylon and her mighty men are taken. Their bows are broken in pieces.
For Jehovah is a God of recompenses; he will surely reward.

³ Assyria will not save us. We will not ride upon horses, nor will we say any more to the work of our hands, Our gods. For in you the fatherless finds mercy.

⁴ Yes and what are you* to me, O Tyre and Sidon and all the regions of Philistia? Will you* render me a recompense? And if you* recompense me, I will return your* recompense swiftly and speedily upon your* own head.

¹³ You who are of purer eyes than to behold evil and who cannot look on perverseness, why do you look upon those who deal treacherously and hold your peace when the wicked man swallows up the man who is more righteous than he,

¹² Because of which case, I also am suffering these things too, but I am not ashamed; for I know the one whom I have believed and I have confidence that he is able to guard my deposit consigned to him for that day.

¹³ And there is no created thing unapparent in his sight, but all things are naked and have been laid-bare to his eyes to whom is our account.

¹⁹ So-then those who are also suffering according to the will of God in good-doing, let them consign themselves, their souls, as to a faithful Creator.

⁷ having tossed forth all your anxiety upon him, because there is care concerning you with him.

¹² therefore Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, Behold, I bring such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.
¹³ And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab. And I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.
¹⁴ And I will cast off the remnant of my inheritance and deliver them into the hand of their enemies. And they will become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies, ¹⁵ because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt even to this day.

¹⁵ And from the wicked their light is withheld and the high arm is broken.

⁹ O let the evil of the wicked man come to an end, but establish the righteous man. For the righteous God tries the minds and hearts.

¹⁷ Because the arms of the wicked will be broken, but Jehovah upholds the righteous.

³⁴ Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the innocent poor. You did not find them breaking in. But it is because of all these things.

⁴⁸ Thus I will cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be instructed not to do according to your* lewdness.

²¹ Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh King of Egypt. And behold, it has not been bound up, to apply medicines, to put a bandage to bind it, that it is strong to hold the sword.
²² Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against Pharaoh King of Egypt. And I will break his arms, the strong arm and what was broken and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

¹² And it will happen at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps and I will punish the men who are settled on their lees, who say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, nor will he do evil.

¹⁷ Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be upon his arm and upon his right eye. His arm will be dried up and his right eye will be utterly darkened.

²⁰ As the nations that Jehovah makes to perish before you*, so will you* perish, because you* would not listen to the voice of Jehovah your* God.

⁵ You have rebuked the nations. You have destroyed the wicked. You have blotted out their name everlasting and forever.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made. In the net which they hid, their own foot is taken.

⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me. ⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me they will obey me. The foreigners will submit themselves to me. ⁴⁵ The foreigners will fade away and will come trembling out of their borders.

¹⁰ Jehovah sat as King at the Flood. Yes, Jehovah sits as King everlasting.

² You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
³ Because they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm and the light of your countenance, because you were favorable to them.

⁵⁵ He also drove out the nations before them and allotted them for an inheritance by line and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

¹ Jehovah reigns! He is clothed with majesty. Jehovah is clothed with strength; he has girded himself with it.
The world also is established that it cannot be shaken.

¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and your dominion is throughout all generations.

¹⁰ Jehovah will reign everlasting, your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise Jehovah.

²² For Jehovah is our judge. Jehovah is our lawgiver. Jehovah is our king, he will save us.

¹⁰ But Jehovah is the true God. He is the living God and an everlasting King. At his wrath the earth trembles and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.

¹⁹ You, O Jehovah, abide everlasting. Your throne is from generation to generation.

³⁴ And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. And I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored he who lives forever. For his dominion is an everlasting dominion and his kingdom from generation to generation.

²⁶ I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God and steadfast forever. And his kingdom is what will not be destroyed and his dominion will be even to the end.

¹⁷ Now to the King of the ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only wise God, is honor and glory forevermore. Amen.

¹⁵ Which in its own times, he will show, the Blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who are reigning, and a Lord of those who have lordship over others; ¹⁶ he who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no one from man has seen, nor is able to see: to whom is honor and everlasting dominion. Amen.

¹⁸ O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Israel, our fathers, keep this everlasting in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people and prepare their heart to you.

³⁶ And Hezekiah rejoiced and all the people, because of what God had prepared for the people; for the thing was done suddenly.

¹² Also the hand of God came upon Judah to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the rulers by the word of Jehovah.

¹² And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he prayed to him. And he was entreated of him and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.

²⁷ because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against the inhabitants of it and have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, says Jehovah.

¹⁸ Because a needy man will not always be forgotten, nor the expectation of the poor perish forever.

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer.

⁴ Delight yourself also in Jehovah and he will give you the desires of your heart.

¹⁷ He has regarded the prayer of the destitute and has not despised their prayer.

⁷ He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah. ⁸ His heart is established, he will not be afraid, even until he looks over his adversaries.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry and will save them.

²⁴ The fear of a wicked man will come upon him. And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¹ The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

²⁴ And it will happen that, before they call, I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

³ The poor in spirit are fortunate, because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

¹³ And the tax collector, standing from afar, was not even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be lenient to me, the sinner. ¹⁴ I say to you, This one went down to his house, having been made righteous rather than that man, because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, but he who is humbling himself will be exalted.

²⁴ Now they, having heard it, lifted up their voice to God united and said, O Lord, you are the God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them; ²⁵ who through the mouth of our father David your young-servant, said, ‘Why do the Gentiles rage and the peoples meditate on empty things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up and the rulers were gathered in the same place, against the Lord and against his Christ.’ ²⁷ For against truth, against your holy young-servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together ²⁸ to do as many things as your hand and your council predetermined to happen. ²⁹ And hereafter, Lord, look upon their threats and give to your bondservants to speak your word with all boldness, ³⁰ in that you stretched out your hand for healing, and signs and wonders to happen through the name of your holy young-servant Jesus. ³¹ And having besought the Lord, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they were speaking the word of God with boldness.

⁵ Therefore indeed, Peter was being kept in the prison, but intense prayer was happening by the congregation to God on his behalf. ⁶ But when Herod was about to lead him out, in that same night Peter had fallen-asleep between two soldiers, having been bound with two chains, and guards before the door were guarding the prison. ⁷ And behold, a messenger of the Lord stood by him and a light shined in the cell and having struck Peter on the ribs, he lifted him up, saying, Stand up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ And the messenger said to him, Gird yourself and tie on your sandals. Now he did so. And he says to him, Put your garment around you and follow me. ⁹ And having gone out, he was following him, and he did not know if true what is happening through the messenger, but he was thinking that he is seeing a vision. ¹⁰ Now having gone through the first and second prison, they came upon the iron gate that brings them into the city; which opened by itself for them, and they went out and went forward one lane, and immediately the messenger withdrew from him.
¹¹ And Peter, came to himself, said, Now I truly know, that the Lord has sent forth his messenger and liberated me out of the hand of Herod and all the expectation of the people of the Jews. ¹² And being conscious of it, he came upon the house of Mary the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where a considerable number was accumulating together and were praying. ¹³ Now when Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maidservant, Rhoda by name, came near to listen to who was there. ¹⁴ And having recognized the voice of Peter, full of joy, she did not open the gate, but ran in and reported Peter to be standing before the gate.
¹⁵ But they said to her, You are insane.
But she was stoutly affirming to have this so.
And they were saying, It is his messenger.
¹⁶ But Peter was remaining and kept knocking. Now having opened the door, they saw him and were astonished. ¹⁷ But he, having beckoned to them with the hand to be silent, described to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. Now he said, Report these things to James and to the brethren. And having gone out, he traveled to a different place. ¹⁸ Now when it became day, there was not just a small disturbance among the soldiers, as to what then had become of Peter. ¹⁹ Now when Herod sought him and did not find him, having examined the guards, he commanded them to be led away for execution. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea and was staying there.

²⁶ Now likewise, the Spirit is also jointly helping our weaknesses; for we do not know what we are praying for, that is according to what is essential for us; but the Spirit himself is petitioning on our behalf with unspeakable groans;

¹⁸ because through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

¹² in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through his faith.

¹⁶ Do not be misled, my beloved brethren!
¹⁷ Every good act of giving, and every complete gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor a shadow of turning.

⁶ But he is giving greater grace. Hence the Scripture says, ‘God resists the haughty, but gives grace to the humble.’

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will be exalting you.

¹² because the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are toward their supplication. But the face of the Lord is against those who are practicing evil.

⁵ Likewise, the younger ones, be subject to the elder ones. But all of you be subject to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, because ‘God resists the haughty, but is giving grace to the humble.’

⁹ Jehovah will also be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble.

¹⁴ You have seen. Because you behold mischief and spite, to repay with your hand. The poor man commits himself to you. You have been the helper of the fatherless.

¹⁴ from men by your hand, O Jehovah, from men of the world whose portion is in this life and whose belly you fill with your treasure. They are satisfied with sons and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

⁴ He will judge the poor of the people.
He will save the sons of the needy and will break in pieces the oppressor.

²¹ O do not let he who is oppressed return ashamed. Let a poor and needy man praise your name.

³ Judge the poor man and the orphan. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute man.

¹ O Jehovah, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth. ² Lift up yourself, judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.
³ Jehovah, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph? ⁴ They pour out words, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of wickedness boast of themselves.
⁵ They break in pieces your people, O Jehovah and afflict your heritage. ⁶ They kill the widow and the traveler and murder the fatherless.

⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.
And he will kill* the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

²⁵ But Abraham said, Child, remember that you received your good things in your life and Lazarus likewise evil things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.

⁷ Now, should God not do the avenging of his chosen who are crying to him day and night? Also, should he not have patience upon them?
⁸ I say to you, that he will be doing the avenging on them quickly.
However, when the Son of Man comes, will he then be finding the faith upon the earth?

⁴⁷ The first man is out of the earth, the terrestrial; the second man, the Lord, is out of heaven. ⁴⁸ Such-as is the terrestrial, such also are the terrestrial and such-as is the heavenly, such also are the heavenly.

¹⁸ For many are walking, (of whom I was speaking to you often about them; now I am also telling you, weeping), who are the enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly and whose glory is in their shame, who are mindful of earthly things.
