¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you* to serve Jehovah, choose you* this day whom you* will serve: whether the gods which your* fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you* dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

⁵ In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for calamity. It is ready for those whose foot slips.

⁴ As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?

⁷ But as for me, in the abundance of your loving kindness I will come into your house. I will worship toward your holy temple in your fear.

⁵ My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet have not slipped.

¹⁵ As for me, I will behold your face in righteousness. I will be satisfied, when I awake, with your form.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting and my prayer returned into my own bosom.

¹⁶ Because I said, Lest they rejoice over me. When my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me.

¹⁸ When I said, My foot slips, your loving kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.

⁸ Because you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

²³ But I am seeing a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and capturing me in the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ O I am a miserable man! Who will rescue me out of the body of this death?
