¹ A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers, ² or they will shred my soul like a lion and tear me to pieces with no one to rescue me. ³ O LORD my God, if I have done this, if injustice is on my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded my ally with evil, if I have plundered my foe without cause, ⁵ then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah ⁶ Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against the fury of my enemies. Awake, my God, and ordain judgment. ⁷ Let the assembled peoples gather around You; take Your seat over them on high. ⁸ The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and integrity. ⁹ Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds. ¹⁰ My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. ¹¹ God is a righteous judge and a God who feels indignation each day. ¹² If one does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has bent and strung His bow. ¹³ He has prepared His deadly weapons; He ordains His arrows with fire. ¹⁴ Behold, the wicked man travails with evil; he conceives trouble and births falsehood. ¹⁵ He has dug a hole and hollowed it out; he has fallen into a pit of his own making. ¹⁶ His trouble recoils on himself, and his violence falls on his own head. ¹⁷ I will thank the LORD for His righteousness and sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You. ³ Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I call to You all day long. ⁴ Bring joy to Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. ⁵ For You, O Lord, are kind and forgiving, rich in loving devotion to all who call on You. ⁶ Hear my prayer, O LORD, and attend to my plea for mercy. ⁷ In the day of my distress I call on You, because You answer me. ⁸ O Lord, there is none like You among the gods, nor any works like Yours. ⁹ All the nations You have made will come and bow before You, O Lord, and they will glorify Your name. ¹⁰ For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God. ¹¹ Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. ¹² I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify Your name forever. ¹³ For great is Your loving devotion to me; You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol. ¹⁴ The arrogant rise against me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, with no regard for You. ¹⁵ But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness. ¹⁶ Turn to me and have mercy; grant Your strength to Your servant; save the son of Your maidservant. ¹⁷ Show me a sign of Your goodness, that my enemies may see and be ashamed; for You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

¹ A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations. ² Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God. ³ You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.” ⁴ For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes, or a watch of the night. ⁵ You whisk them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning— ⁶ in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it fades and withers. ⁷ For we are consumed by Your anger and terrified by Your wrath. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence. ⁹ For all our days decline in Your fury; we finish our years with a sigh. ¹⁰ The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong—yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. ¹¹ Who knows the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear You are due. ¹² So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom. ¹³ Return, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on Your servants. ¹⁴ Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. ¹⁵ Make us glad for as many days as You have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil. ¹⁶ May Your work be shown to Your servants, and Your splendor to their children. ¹⁷ May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands—yes, establish the work of our hands!
