In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. ²⁵ Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both great and small. ²⁶ There the ships pass, and Leviathan, which You formed to frolic there. ²⁷ All creatures look to You to give them their food in due season. ²⁸ When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things. ²⁹ When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to dust. ³⁰ When You send Your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth. ³¹ May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works. ³² He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smolder. ³³ I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. ³⁴ May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD. ³⁵ May sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. ² Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness. ³ The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is heard over many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.

¹ The LORD reigns! He is robed in majesty; the LORD has clothed and armed Himself with strength. The world indeed is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

³ Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable.

¹⁷ He put on righteousness like a breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on His head; He put on garments of vengeance and wrapped Himself in a cloak of zeal.

²⁴ “Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.

¹⁷ “Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You! ¹⁸ You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts, ¹⁹ the One great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are on all the ways of the sons of men, to reward each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.

⁹ As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.

⁴ And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed, “O, Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of loving devotion to those who love Him and keep His commandments,

¹² Are You not from everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O LORD, You have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, You have established them for correction. ¹³ and among the seven lampstands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. ¹⁴ The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. ¹⁵ His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. ¹⁶ He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest. ¹⁷ When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ the Living One. I was dead, and behold, now I am alive forever and ever. Amen. And I hold the keys of Death and of Hades. ¹⁹ Therefore write down the things you have seen, and the things that are, and the things that will happen after this. ²⁰ This is the mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand and of the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

²² He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

¹² It is I who made the earth and created man upon it. It was My hands that stretched out the heavens, and I ordained all their host.

¹ This is the burden of the word of the LORD concerning Israel. Thus declares the LORD, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth, who forms the spirit of man within him:

² There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

¹⁶ He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. No one has ever seen Him, nor can anyone see Him. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

¹⁰ And: “In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. ¹¹ They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment. ¹² You will roll them up like a robe; they will be changed; but You remain the same, and Your years will never end.”

⁵ And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

⁶ He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name.

³ The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

⁶⁴ “You have said it yourself,” Jesus answered. “But I say to all of you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

⁷ Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him—even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.

¹¹ As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire with horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up into heaven in a whirlwind.

¹⁷ Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

⁸ lightning and hail, snow and clouds, powerful wind fulfilling His word,

¹³ In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of glowing coals of fire, or of torches. Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.

⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is neither a resurrection, nor angels, nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.

⁷ Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire.”

¹⁴ Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

⁷ He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth upon nothing.

⁴ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. ⁵ Who fixed its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched a measuring line across it? ⁶ On what were its foundations set, or who laid its cornerstone, ⁷ while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

² For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.

⁹ For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.

¹⁰ Declare among the nations: “The LORD reigns!” The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity.

⁶ He spread out the earth upon the waters. His loving devotion endures forever.

⁴ Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

¹⁰ But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

¹⁴ The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them.

¹⁹ Finally, the waters completely inundated the earth, so that all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered.

⁵ But they deliberately overlook the fact that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water,

¹ But God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock that were with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to subside.

¹⁵ The channels of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the world were exposed, at Your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

¹⁸ Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.

⁹ He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led them through the depths as through a desert.

²⁸ when He established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep gushed forth,

³⁹ Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.

⁵ And the waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.

⁷ He piles up the waters of the sea; He puts the depths into storehouses.

¹¹ And I establish My covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” ¹² And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: ¹³ I have set My rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. ¹⁴ Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, ¹⁵ I will remember My covenant between Me and you and every living creature of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.

¹⁰ He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.

¹⁰ when I fixed its boundaries and set in place its bars and doors, ¹¹ and I declared: ‘You may come this far, but no farther; here your proud waves must stop’?

⁹ “For to Me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you or rebuke you.

²² Do you not fear Me?” declares the LORD. “Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as the boundary for the sea, an enduring barrier it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot cross it.

⁷ For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks and fountains and springs that flow through the valleys and hills;

³⁵ He turns a desert into pools of water and a dry land into flowing springs.

⁷ The parched ground will become a pool, the thirsty land springs of water. In the haunt where jackals once lay, there will be grass and reeds and papyrus.

¹⁸ I will open rivers on the barren heights, and fountains in the middle of the valleys. I will turn the desert into a pool of water, and the dry land into flowing springs.

⁵ Who set the wild donkey free? Who released the swift donkey from the harness? ⁶ I made the wilderness his home and the salt flats his dwelling. ⁷ He scorns the tumult of the city and never hears the shouts of a driver. ⁸ He roams the mountains for pasture, searching for any green thing.

¹³ He waters the mountains from His chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of His works.

¹⁶ You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

¹¹ I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are Mine.

³ Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.

²⁶ Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

²⁰ Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”

¹¹ But the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks in the rain from heaven.

²⁵ Who cuts a channel for the flood or clears a path for the thunderbolt, ²⁶ to bring rain on a barren land, on a desert where no man lives, ²⁷ to satisfy the parched wasteland and make it sprout with tender grass? ²⁸ Does the rain have a father? Who has begotten the drops of dew?

³⁷ Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Or who can tilt the water jars of the heavens

⁹ You attend to the earth and water it; with abundance You enrich it. The streams of God are full of water, for You prepare our grain by providing for the earth. ¹⁰ You soak its furrows and level its ridges; You soften it with showers and bless its growth. ¹¹ You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your paths overflow with plenty. ¹² The pastures of the wilderness overflow; the hills are robed with joy. ¹³ The pastures are clothed with flocks, and the valleys are decked with grain. They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing.

⁸ who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the hills.

¹³ When He thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He generates the lightning with the rain and brings forth the wind from His storehouses.

²² Can the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies alone send showers? Is this not by You, O LORD our God? So we put our hope in You, for You have done all these things.

⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

¹⁷ Yet He has not left Himself without testimony to His goodness: He gives you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

¹¹ Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so. ¹² The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

²⁹ Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food. ³⁰ And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

⁵ Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

⁹ Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁸ Both thorns and thistles it will yield for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

¹² When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its produce to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”

³ Everything that lives and moves will be food for you; just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you all things.

⁵ Then Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go throughout the land to every spring and every valley. Perhaps we will find grass to keep the horses and mules alive so that we will not have to destroy any livestock.”

⁵ Food may come from the earth, but from below it is transformed as by fire.

⁷ So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

⁵ And I will bring a bit of bread so that you may refresh yourselves. This is why you have passed your servant’s way. After that, you may continue on your way.” “Yes,” they replied, “you may do as you have said.”

²⁶ When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in a single oven and dole out your bread by weight, so that you will eat but not be satisfied.

³ He humbled you, and in your hunger He gave you manna to eat, which neither you nor your fathers had known, so that you might understand that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

⁴⁰ You will have olive trees throughout your territory but will never anoint yourself with oil, because the olives will drop off.

⁹ But the olive tree replied, ‘Should I stop giving my oil that honors both God and man, to hold sway over the trees?’

¹³ But the grapevine replied, ‘Should I stop giving my wine that cheers both God and man, to hold sway over the trees?’

⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

¹⁰ But You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been anointed.

¹⁶ He called down famine on the land and cut off all their supplies of food.

⁶ Give strong drink to one who is perishing, and wine to the bitter in soul.

¹ Who is like the wise man? Who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed.

⁷ Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God has already approved your works:

¹⁹ A feast is prepared for laughter, and wine makes life merry, but money is the answer for everything.

² Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is more delightful than wine. ³ The fragrance of your perfume is pleasing; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens adore you. ⁴ Take me away with you—let us hurry! May the king bring me to his chambers. We will rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. It is only right that they adore you.

¹ For behold, the Lord GOD of Hosts is about to remove from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: the whole supply of food and water,

¹² They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will be radiant over the bounty of the LORD—the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they languish.

¹⁶ Then He told me, “Son of man, I am going to cut off the supply of food in Jerusalem. They will anxiously eat bread rationed by weight, and in despair they will drink water by measure.

¹⁶ When I shower you with the deadly arrows of famine and destruction that I will send to destroy you, I will intensify the famine against you and cut off your supply of food.

¹³ “Son of man, if a land sins against Me by acting unfaithfully, and I stretch out My hand against it to cut off its supply of food, to send famine upon it, and to cut off from it both man and beast,

¹⁵ The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and conquer with slingstones; they will drink and roar as with wine. And they will be filled like sprinkling bowls, drenched like the corners of the altar. ¹⁶ On that day the LORD their God will save them as the flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will sparkle over His land. ¹⁷ How lovely they will be, and how beautiful! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine, the young women.

²³ Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

⁴⁶ You did not anoint My head with oil, but she has anointed My feet with perfume.

¹⁸ Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

⁹ You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You above Your companions with the oil of joy.”

²⁰ You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

⁶ They spread out like palm groves, like gardens beside a stream, like aloes the LORD has planted, like cedars beside the waters.

⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

² to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night

²³ I will plant it on the mountain heights of Israel so that it will bear branches; it will yield fruit and become a majestic cedar. Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.

⁷ Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons. The turtledove, the swift, and the thrush keep their time of migration, but My people do not know the requirements of the LORD.

²³ O inhabitant of Lebanon, nestled in the cedars, how you will groan when pangs of anguish come upon you, agony like a woman in labor.”

⁶ All the birds of the air nested in its branches, and all the beasts of the field gave birth beneath its boughs; all the great nations lived in its shade.

²¹ whose foliage was beautiful and whose fruit was abundant, providing food for all, under which the beasts of the field lived, and in whose branches the birds of the air nested—

⁴ Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, even from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD.

³² Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

⁵ The rock badger, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean for you.

⁷ But of those that chew the cud or have a completely divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: the camel, the rabbit, or the rock badger. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof. They are unclean for you,

¹⁴ And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years. ¹⁵ And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so. ¹⁶ God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well. ¹⁷ God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth, ¹⁸ to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁹ When you look to the heavens and see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

²⁶ if I have beheld the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, ²⁷ so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth, ²⁸ this would also be an iniquity to be judged, for I would have denied God on high.

¹² In your days, have you commanded the morning or assigned the dawn its place,

³ When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—

⁶ it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

⁷ He made the great lights—His loving devotion endures forever. ⁸ the sun to rule the day, His loving devotion endures forever. ⁹ the moon and stars to govern the night. His loving devotion endures forever.

³⁵ Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name:

⁴ And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. ⁵ God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

²² As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.”

¹⁰ for every beast of the forest is Mine—the cattle on a thousand hills.

¹⁶ The day is Yours, and also the night; You established the moon and the sun.

¹⁰ even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast. ¹¹ If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me”— ¹² even the darkness is not dark to You, but the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light to You.

⁷ I form the light and create the darkness; I bring prosperity and create calamity. I, the LORD, do all these things.

¹³ This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory.

³⁹ Can you hunt the prey for a lioness or satisfy the hunger of young lions

⁴¹ Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God as they wander about for lack of food?

¹⁰ Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

¹⁵ The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food in season.

⁴ For this is what the LORD has said to me: “Like a lion roaring or a young lion over its prey—and though a band of shepherds is called out against it, it is not terrified by their shouting or subdued by their clamor—so the LORD of Hosts will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and its heights.

² and say: ‘What was your mother? A lioness among the lions! She lay down among the young lions; she reared her cubs. ³ She brought up one of her cubs, and he became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men. ⁴ When the nations heard of him, he was trapped in their pit. With hooks they led him away to the land of Egypt. ⁵ When she saw that she had waited in vain, that her hope was lost, she took another of her cubs and made him a young lion. ⁶ He prowled among the lions, and became a young lion. After learning to tear his prey, he devoured men. ⁷ He broke down their strongholds and devastated their cities. The land and everything in it shuddered at the sound of his roaring. ⁸ Then the nations set out against him from the provinces on every side. They spread their net over him; he was trapped in their pit. ⁹ With hooks they caged him and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into captivity so that his roar was heard no longer on the mountains of Israel. ¹⁰ Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, planted by the water; it was fruitful and full of branches because of the abundant waters. ¹¹ It had strong branches, fit for a ruler’s scepter. It towered high above the thick branches, conspicuous for its height and for its dense foliage. ¹² But it was uprooted in fury, cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were stripped off and they withered; the fire consumed them. ¹³ Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land. ¹⁴ Fire has gone out from its main branch and devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s scepter.’ This is a lament and shall be used as a lament.”

¹⁸ How the cattle groan! The herds wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.

²⁰ Even the beasts of the field pant for You, for the streams of water have dried up, and fire has consumed the open pastures.

⁴ Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing?

¹³ Then there are those who rebel against the light, not knowing its ways or staying on its paths. ¹⁴ When daylight is gone, the murderer rises to kill the poor and needy; in the night he is like a thief. ¹⁵ The eye of the adulterer watches for twilight. Thinking, ‘No eye will see me,’ he covers his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in, never to experience the light. ¹⁷ For to them, deep darkness is their morning; surely they are friends with the terrors of darkness!

⁸ The wild animals enter their lairs; they settle down in their dens.

¹⁷ Your guards are like the swarming locust, and your scribes like clouds of locusts that settle on the walls on a cold day. When the sun rises, they fly away, and no one knows where.

²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

¹⁹ By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground—because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

¹⁶ That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was residing in Gibeah (the men of that place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the field.

¹² The sleep of the worker is sweet, whether he eats little or much, but the abundance of the rich man permits him no sleep.

²⁸ He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.

⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate. ¹⁰ For even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “If anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat.” ¹¹ Yet we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives and accomplishing nothing but being busybodies. ¹² We command and urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to earn their own living.

²⁴ And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. ²⁵ God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

³¹ And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

⁶ You alone are the LORD. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all things, and the host of heaven worships You.

⁹ the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.

¹ A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein.

⁵ Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare to You—if I proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count.

¹⁰ for every beast of the forest is Mine—the cattle on a thousand hills. ¹¹ I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are Mine. ¹² If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.

¹¹ You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your paths overflow with plenty.

³¹ Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.

⁵ By His insight He made the heavens. His loving devotion endures forever.

¹⁹ The LORD founded the earth by wisdom and established the heavens by understanding. ²⁰ By His knowledge the watery depths were broken open, and the clouds dripped with dew.

²² The LORD created me as His first course, before His works of old. ²³ From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, before the earth began. ²⁴ When there were no watery depths, I was brought forth, when no springs were overflowing with water. ²⁵ Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth, ²⁶ before He made the land or fields, or any of the dust of the earth. ²⁷ I was there when He established the heavens, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep, ²⁸ when He established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep gushed forth, ²⁹ when He set a boundary for the sea, so that the waters would not surpass His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth. ³⁰ Then I was a skilled craftsman at His side, and His delight day by day, rejoicing always in His presence. ³¹ I was rejoicing in His whole world, delighting together in the sons of men. ³² Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. ³³ Listen to instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at the posts of my doorway. ³⁵ For whoever finds me finds life and obtains the favor of the LORD. ³⁶ But he who fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.”

¹² The LORD made the earth by His power; He established the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.

³³ O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!

⁸ that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

¹⁰ His purpose was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

¹⁷ Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in the living God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.

²⁰ And God said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.” ²¹ So God created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters teemed according to their kinds, and every bird of flight after its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

²⁸ God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”

¹ Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”

¹⁴ with the bountiful harvest from the sun and the abundant yield of the seasons, ¹⁵ with the best of the ancient mountains and the bounty of the everlasting hills, ¹⁶ with the choice gifts of the land and everything in it, and with the favor of Him who dwelt in the burning bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph and crown the brow of the prince of his brothers.

¹⁹ They will call the peoples to a mountain; there they will offer sacrifices of righteousness. For they will feast on the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

³⁴ Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them.

⁴ In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. ⁵ The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.

⁵ But Paul shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.

¹³ Zebulun shall dwell by the seashore and become a harbor for ships; his border shall extend to Sidon.

⁸ May it be cursed by those who curse the day—those prepared to rouse Leviathan.

¹ “Can you pull in Leviathan with a hook or tie down his tongue with a rope? ² Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? ³ Will he beg you for mercy or speak to you softly? ⁴ Will he make a covenant with you to take him as a slave for life? ⁵ Can you pet him like a bird or put him on a leash for your maidens? ⁶ Will traders barter for him or divide him among the merchants? ⁷ Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears? ⁸ If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the battle and never repeat it! ⁹ Surely hope of overcoming him is false. Is not the sight of him overwhelming? ¹⁰ No one is so fierce as to rouse Leviathan. Then who is able to stand against Me? ¹¹ Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Everything under heaven is Mine. ¹² I cannot keep silent about his limbs, his power and graceful form. ¹³ Who can strip off his outer coat? Who can approach him with a bridle? ¹⁴ Who can open his jaws, ringed by his fearsome teeth? ¹⁵ His rows of scales are his pride, tightly sealed together. ¹⁶ One scale is so near to another that no air can pass between them. ¹⁷ They are joined to one another; they clasp and cannot be separated. ¹⁸ His snorting flashes with light, and his eyes are like the rays of dawn. ¹⁹ Firebrands stream from his mouth; fiery sparks shoot forth! ²⁰ Smoke billows from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning reeds. ²¹ His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames pour from his mouth. ²² Strength resides in his neck, and dismay leaps before him. ²³ The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable. ²⁴ His chest is as hard as a rock, as hard as a lower millstone! ²⁵ When Leviathan rises up, the mighty are terrified; they withdraw before his thrashing. ²⁶ The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or dart or arrow. ²⁷ He regards iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood. ²⁸ No arrow can make him flee; slingstones become like chaff to him. ²⁹ A club is regarded as straw, and he laughs at the sound of the lance. ³⁰ His undersides are jagged potsherds, spreading out the mud like a threshing sledge. ³¹ He makes the depths seethe like a cauldron; he makes the sea like a jar of ointment. ³² He leaves a glistening wake behind him; one would think the deep had white hair! ³³ Nothing on earth is his equal—a creature devoid of fear! ³⁴ He looks down on all the haughty; he is king over all the proud.”

¹⁴ You crushed the heads of Leviathan; You fed him to the creatures of the desert.

²³ Others went out to sea in ships, conducting trade on the mighty waters.

¹ In that day the LORD will take His sharp, great, and mighty sword, and bring judgment on Leviathan the fleeing serpent—Leviathan the coiling serpent—and He will slay the dragon of the sea.

⁹ The elders of Gebal were aboard as shipwrights, repairing your leaks. All the ships of the sea and their sailors came alongside to barter for your merchandise.

³¹ For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.

⁶ Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

²⁴ Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds! ²⁵ Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? ²⁶ So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest? ²⁷ Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. ²⁸ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!

¹⁷ On that day My anger will burn against them, and I will abandon them and hide My face from them, so that they will be consumed, and many troubles and afflictions will befall them. On that day they will say, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is no longer with us?’

⁹ Please remember that You molded me like clay. Would You now return me to dust?

²⁴ Why do You hide Your face and consider me as Your enemy?

¹⁴ If He were to set His heart to it and withdraw His Spirit and breath, ¹⁵ all flesh would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.

²⁹ But when He remains silent, who can condemn Him? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both man and nation,

⁷ O LORD, You favored me; You made my mountain stand strong. When You hid Your face, I was dismayed.

³ You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.”

⁴ When his spirit departs, he returns to the ground; on that very day his plans perish.

⁷ before the dust returns to the ground from which it came and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

²⁵ Nor is He served by the hands of men, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope ²¹ that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. ²² We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.

¹³ By His breath the skies were cleared; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

⁴ The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

⁶ By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.

¹⁴ For the palace will be forsaken, the busy city abandoned. The hill and the watchtower will become caves forever—the delight of wild donkeys and a pasture for flocks— ¹⁵ until the Spirit is poured out upon us from on high. Then the desert will be an orchard, and the orchard will seem like a forest.

¹⁷ For behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

²² “For just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, will endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “so your descendants and your name will endure.

⁹ Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and tell the breath that this is what the Lord GOD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, so that they may live!”

¹ And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

⁴ But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, ⁵ made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved!

⁵ He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

⁵ And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said to me, “Write this down, for these words are true and faithful.”

¹⁷ It is a sign between Me and the Israelites forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’”

¹⁶ For the LORD will rebuild Zion; He has appeared in His glory.

⁵ For as a young man marries a young woman, so your sons will marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.

¹⁸ But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight. ¹⁹ I will rejoice in Jerusalem and take delight in My people. The sounds of weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her.

⁴¹ Yes, I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.

¹⁷ The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”

⁵ And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, ⁶ comes home, and calls together his friends and neighbors to tell them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!’

²² But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. ²³ Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let us feast and celebrate. ²⁴ For this son of mine was dead and is alive again! He was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate.

³⁶ For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

⁵ to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

²¹ to Him be the glory in the church in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁸ And the Lord will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

²¹ equip you with every good work to do His will. And may He accomplish in you what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹ To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

¹² In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” ¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever. Amen!”

¹⁸ Mount Sinai was completely enveloped in smoke, because the LORD had descended on it in fire. And the smoke rose like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.

³ Our God approaches and will not be silent! Consuming fire precedes Him, and a tempest rages around Him.

¹⁶ The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You and swirled; even the depths were shaken.

⁴ His lightning illuminates the world; the earth sees and trembles. ⁵ The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.

⁷ Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

⁵ Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.

¹ If only You would rend the heavens and come down, so that mountains would quake at Your presence, ² as fire kindles the brushwood and causes the water to boil, to make Your name known to Your enemies, so that the nations will tremble at Your presence!

²³ I looked at the earth, and it was formless and void; I looked to the heavens, and they had no light. ²⁴ I looked at the mountains, and behold, they were quaking; all the hills were swaying. ²⁵ I looked, and no man was left; all the birds of the air had fled. ²⁶ I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert. All its cities were torn down before the LORD, before His fierce anger.

⁸ Will not the land quake for this, and all its dwellers mourn? All of it will swell like the Nile; it will surge and then subside like the Nile in Egypt.

⁵ The mountains quake before Him, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles at His presence—the world and all its dwellers. ⁶ Who can withstand His indignation? Who can endure His burning anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; even rocks are shattered before Him.

⁵ Plague went before Him, and fever followed in His steps. ⁶ He stood and measured the earth; He looked and startled the nations; the ancient mountains crumbled; the perpetual hills collapsed. His ways are everlasting.

¹⁰ The mountains saw You and quaked; torrents of water swept by. The deep roared with its voice and lifted its hands on high.

³ And a second time they called out: “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises forever and ever.”

⁴ So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands.

¹ A Psalm of praise. Of David. I will exalt You, my God and King; I will bless Your name forever and ever. ² Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.

² I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

² But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.

² I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

¹¹ Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

⁵ My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You. ⁶ When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.

¹² I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.

¹⁵ I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. ¹⁶ I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

¹¹¹ Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, even the purest gold. ¹²⁸ Therefore I admire all Your precepts and hate every false way.

¹⁶⁷ I obey Your testimonies and love them greatly.

¹⁷ How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! ¹⁸ If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You.

¹⁴ Know therefore that wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, there is a future for you, and your hope will never be cut off.

¹⁷ Though the fig tree does not bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls, ¹⁸ yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

³¹ So may all Your enemies perish, O LORD! But may those who love You shine like the sun at its brightest.” And the land had rest for forty years.

⁴ Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.

³⁸ But the transgressors will all be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.

¹³ Consume them in wrath; consume them till they are no more, so it may be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob. Selah

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A song. God arises. His enemies are scattered, and those who hate Him flee His presence. ² As smoke is blown away, You will drive them out; as wax melts before the fire, the wicked will perish in the presence of God.

²⁷ Those far from You will surely perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You.

⁸ Every morning I will remove all the wicked of the land, that I may cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.

²² Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!

⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, “Amen!” Hallelujah!

²² but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.

¹ After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God! ² For His judgments are true and just. He has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality. He has avenged the blood of His servants that was poured out by her hand.”
