²³ Then if they persecute you in one city, fly to another: for I assure you, before you have preach'd thro' all the cities of the Jews, the son of man will come.

¹⁵ but Jesus perceiving their design, withdrew himself thence, accompany'd by great multitudes, and he healed all their sick,

³⁹ and he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out demons.

¹² About that time, Jesus retired to a mountain to pray, and spent the whole night in an oratory.

¹⁷ At length he came down the hill with them, and stayed with the rest of his disciples in the plain, where a great multitude of people from all Judea, from Jerusalem, and the maritime country of Tyre and Sidon, came to hear him, and to have their diseases cured.

⁵ but they were the more vehement, saying, he promotes sedition by speading such doctrine thro' all Judea, from Galilee to this place.

⁴¹ some said, this is the Messias. but said others, shall the Messias come out of Galilee?

⁵² they answered him, are you also of Galilee? search the scriptures, and you will not find that a prophet did ever arise out of Galilee.

³⁹ Thereupon they again endeavour'd to seize him: but he escaped out of their hands, and retir'd beyond Jordan, ⁴⁰ to the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. ⁴¹ and many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but every thing that he said concerning this man, was true.

⁵³ from that day therefore, they consulted together to put Jesus to death. ⁵⁴ For which reason he did not afterwards appear publickly among the Jews; but retir'd into the country near the desart, to a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

⁵ upon this the Gentiles and the Jews, supported by their magistrates, made an insurrection in order to use violence against them, and even to stone them: ⁶ of which they were appriz'd, and fled to Lystra and Derbe, citys of Lycaonia, and to the adjacent country,

¹⁰ Immediately the brethren sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea, where being arriv'd, they went into the synagogue.

¹⁴ Upon this the brethren immediately sent Paul away to the sea-coast, but Silas and Timothy staid there.
