1 Thessalonians 2:1 Cross References - Matthew

¹ For ye youre selues knowe brethren of oure entraunce in vnto you, how that it was not in vaine:

¹⁶ So harde is he vnto hys yong ones, as thoughe they were not hys, & laboureth in vayne wythout anye feare.

¹³ Shoulde I then clense my herte in vayne (thougt I) and washe my handes in innocency?

¹ The song of the steares. Except the Lord buylde the house, their laboure is but loste that buylde it. Except the Lord kepe the cytye, the watchman waketh but in vayne.

⁴ Then aunswered I: I shall lese my laboure, I shall spende my strength in vayne. Neuertheles, I wyll commytte my cause and my worcke vnto the Lorde my God.

²³ My chosen shall lyue longe, they shal not laboure in vayne, nor beget with trouble, for they that are the hye blessed sede of the Lord, and their frutes with them.

¹³ Shall not the Lorde of hostes brynge thys to passe, that the laboures of the people shal be brent wyth a greate fyre, & that the thynge wherevpon the people haue weeryed them selues, shall be lost?

² by whiche also ye are saued: I do you to wit, after what maner I preached vnto you yf ye kepe it, except ye haue beleued in vaine.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am that I am. And his grace which is in me, was not in vaine, but I laboured more aboundantly then they al, not I but the grace of God which is with me.

⁵⁸ Therfore my deare brethren, be ye stedfast and vnmouable alwayes ryche in the workes of the Lorde, for as much as ye knowe, howe that your labour is not in vaine in the Lorde.

¹ We as healpers therfore exhorte you, that ye receyue not the grace of God in vayne.

² Yea and I wente vp by reuelacion, and communed with them of the Gospell which I preache amonge the gentyls: but a part with them which were counted chiefe, lest it shoulde haue bene thought, that I should runne or had runne in vayne.

¹¹ I am in feare of you lest I haue bestowed on you laboure in vayne.

¹⁶ holding fast the worde of life, vnto my reioysing in the daye of Christe, that I haue not runne in vayne, neyther haue laboured in vaine.

³ wythoute ceasinge, and cal to remembraunce your worke the fayth, and laboure in loue & perseueraunce in the hope of our Lord Iesus Christ, in the syght of God oure father, ⁴ because we know brethren beloued of God, how that ye are electe. ⁵ For oure Gospell came not to you in worde onelye, but also in power, and in the holye Ghoste, and in muche certaintie, as ye know after what maner we behaued our selues among you, for your sakes. ⁶ And ye became folowers of vs and of the Lord, and receyued the worde with much affliccion, with ioye of the holye ghoste: ⁷ so that ye were an ensample to al that beleue in Macedonia and Achaia. ⁸ For from you sounded out the worde of the Lord, not in Macedonia & in Achaia onelye: but your fayth also which ye haue vnto God, sprede her selfe abrode in all quarters, so greatlye that it neadeth not vs to speake any thynge at all. ⁹ For they them selues shewe of you, what maner of entering in we had vnto you, and howe ye turned vnto God from Images, for to serue the liuing and true God, ¹⁰ and for to loke for hys sonne from heauen, whom he raised from death. I meane Iesus which deliuered vs from wrath to come.

¹³ For thys cause thanke we God wythout ceasyng, because that when ye receiued of vs the word, wher with God was preached, ye receiued it not as the worde of man: but euen as it was in dede, the worde of God: whiche worketh in you that beleue.

⁵ For this cause when I coulde no longer forbeare, I sente, that I might haue knowledge of your fayth, least haplye the tempter had tempted you, and that oure labour had bene bestowed in vayne.

¹⁰ when he shall come to be gloryfyed in hys saynctes, and to be made marueylous in all them that beleue: because oure testimonye that we had vnto you, was beleued euen the same daye that we preached it.

¹ Fvrthermore brethren praye for vs, that the worde of God maye haue free passage and be glorifyed, as it is with you:
